Let me start by saying - my friends and I LOVE lams - not only for the food, but the owners as well. She truly makes you feel appreciated and like family - she is always so sweet and so patient - one time we waited outside for our food, and she walked it out to us - she always goes above and beyond. Authentic. Having lived in Asia growing up I tend to be a little snobby when it comes to Asian food. This is an authentic place to eat Asian. Small, you step up into what must have been a meeting hall or some sort of business that was converted into a restaurant. Looks to be family run. Limited tables and very basic furnishing. Nothing fancy at all. Waitress is also the cashier. Another woman brings your order to the table. They do take credit cards. Parking is along side of the building in their private lot. Pretty standard menu: chicken, sea food, beef, pork, mu shu style (pancakes to hold the stir fry), soups and a real odd category for me egg foo young. That entry on an Asian menu usually caused me not to go there, but am glad that I did pull through and come in. I ordered the salt and pepper shrimp, a favorite usually with lightly barely breaded shrimp stir fried with onions, scallions and jalapeno peppers. However, their version was breaded with thick dough that tends to soak up oil making sponge wrapped shrimp. I ate it, pulling the breading off and asked the waitress if I could have it stir fried. She understood and said that that is why she emphasizes "fried." Remember that, unless you like oil soaked food. Wife had black bean chicken. We both enjoyed the food. Portions were generous and unlimited rice. We will be back. Unpretentious Asian food in a clean environment is just great. read more

My hiking buddy and I were looking for a quick and easy lunch spot after finishing up at Mt. Tam and stumbled upon Lam's Kitchen. We got there in time for their lunch special (which you can get M-F from 11-2). For our entree, we chose the Mongolian Chicken which we *highly recommend* if you're as big of an onion fan as I am. We had the choice of having our entree with either fried rice, brown rice, white rice, or chow mein, and we went w brown rice. Lastly, we were able to choose between hot and sour soup or corn egg drop soup as a side. In total, we paid around $17 because we got extra soup and two egg rolls on the side. The Mongolian Chicken was very flavorful and not as greasy as other takeout joints and left us very satisfied and not sluggish which we appreciated. I love Lam's, my fiancée and I order from here all the time. Even though there are Chinese restaurants closer to us, we are always willing to make the trip to have Lam's. I am a vegetarian, so I really appreciate that there menu has a lot of variety when it comes to vegetarian options. Probably good if you live in/near Mill Valley and are craving some Chinese takeout-type food. Service was friendly, but inconsistent -- when my parents requesting hot-water one of the servers said they only had cold water, but then another employee there (maybe the manager or owner) came out with hot water for my parents. I got delivery and they still have the same lightning fast service as before. They gal said they would be at my door in 40 minutes but it only took 20. I got my usual Chinese dinner, chicken chow main, pork pot stickers and four pork bums!! If you haven't had a pork bun, get one... no wait get 4 because they are sooo good. Having worked near Oakland Chinatown for years, I know excellent, cheap Chinese food. However, coming home to Marin for over 20 years, I've not yet been able to find a comparable Chinese restaurant north of the Golden Gate Bridge. With this in mind, I tried Lam's Kitchen tonight. I ordered three dishes, BBQ Pork Chow Mein w/ Hong Kong Style Noodles, Mongolian Chicken and Hunan Pork. The friendly woman who took my order said that it would be delivered in 30 minutes. The order arrived in slightly more than 20 minutes, although I live in Strawberry, on the other side of Highway 101. The three entrees cost $24.50, comparable to Chinatown prices. Interestingly, the three dishes had fairly similar flavors, a strong garlicky, soy and oyster sauce flavor. In all fairness, it really wasn't bad, but it also wasn't the Chinese food that I'm accustomed to. I also noticed the use of vegetables - zucchini, sugar snap peas, Western broccoli - that you don't often see in Chinatown restaurants. So, my quest for good Chinese food in Marin continues, and while Lam's Kitchen did not pass the Chinatown test, their food, let's call it Chinese Fusion, is quite good. read more

I eat here at least once a week. Absolutely one of my all time favorite Chinese restaurants!!! Their soups are flavorful and delicious and their special home made chili (sorry Sriracha) is the best. Delicious Chow mein and my favorites to order with that are the salt and pepper tofu and spicy green beans and lemon chicken. The owner is a very nice woman and she even knows my voice now and puts in extra sauce when I order. Their​ lunch specials are currently 7.99 which come with a soup (usually hot and sour soup yum) a choice of rice, Chow mein or veggies and a main dish.
