For Mill Valley it's the most inexpensive Asian food around. Lunch of bbq pork chow me in was full of sliced bbq pork and vegetables. Noodles were yummy, just the right amount of flavor. Lots of blue collars for lunch, considering sitting down for service anywhere else in town will cost you at least $20 a person. Got a great quick lunch when we stopped in Friday. Crazy busy but service was still pretty good. My wife and I both got general Gau's chicken, great chicken portion and great sauce. Last month I showed up at 8:30 pm on a weeknight hoping to squeeze in an eat in order. The woman behind the counter told me the food would take 20 minutes which seemed a little long (there were only a couple of tables occupied and they all had food). From what I could tell, the staff in the kitchen had already begun their clean up. After mulling it over I reluctantly agreed and then said that I'd like to eat it there (my house is under reconstruction so there is no good place for me to eat). And the person said I couldn't. I explained (in Chinese) that it was difficult for me to eat at home given the renovation but she said there was no way I could eat there. This was 30 minutes before their closing time! At that point I was pretty ticked off so I left. I'm Chinese American and have lived in Marin for over 5 years. I guess I now know why I haven't eaten there yet and I certainly won't start anytime soon given my recent experience. read more

Very pleasantly surprised! I'll be honest, I wasn't expecting much from this local eatery. This definitely falls under the category of don't-judge-a-book-by-its-cover. From the outside, it looks like a run-of-the-mill Chinese fast food joint. Not exactly Panda Express. But not exactly upscale either. But I took my chances anyway and stopped in a for a little Chinese grub to-go. I ordered me some pork pot stickers and the spicy chicken with string beans and brown rice. I fig And I got to tell ya - both dishes were really solid. Not the best Chinese food I've ever had. But certainly good for the price. Both dishes with rice cost me roughly $17. The portions were generous, and I had enough food to take home for the next day. I'll certainly return for take-out when I need my pot sticker fix. read more

From the moment I walked in the door i was immediately struck by the decor. The subtle nod to gucci on the walls, the brightly illuminated menu, and of course, the staff. He told me his name was Nick and it was his first day waiting tables. What I experienced next was nothing short of immaculate. Nick gracefully poured, served, and chatted with us throughout our meal. We laughed, cried, and discussed the workings of the world over a fantastic meal. I left with a feeling I hadn't felt in a long time...gratitude. My wife and I just spent 5 days vacationing in Mill Valley and on three of these days we had take out from this restaurant, the experience was that good. With these types of restaurants you will usually have one of two things, fast food or good food, generally not both. This place consistently gives you both. One the first night we used them we opted for their free delivery and were shocked when the delivery arrived at our hotel in approximately 15 minutes. I'm not even sure how that's possible. Granted, we weren't that far from the restaurant, maybe 3/4ths of a mile, but still. We were further surprised at just how good the food was. Because the food was so delicious, we decided to stop in and pick up our order the next two nights and we're glad we did. The owner is a charming, gracious and friendly Chinese lady who seemed genuinely glad to see us and not just be going through the motions like so many places do these days. She was happy, upbeat and a pleasure to talk to and do business with. Because of this very positive experience, we stopped in and picked up our food there on our last night as well. They have a fairly extensive menu, their food is excellent, their prices are reasonable and everything was prepared to perfection. Although there are a few tables for dining there, this area is small. This is primarily a takeout/delivery restaurant. It was a very pleasurable experience and we highly recommend Lam's Kitchen when you are in the Mill Valley area. read more

Although I'm not from Mill Valley, anytime I'm out there I make sure to come here because of the wonderful experiences I've had here. For the restaurant's size, this place has quite a large menu with virtually anything you could ask for. Some of my favorites include the Spicy Garlic Eggplant and Sweet and Sour Chicken. In addition to the yummy tasting food here, what stands out most to me is the service. The owner is incredibly friendly and makes sure to greet you right when you step through the door. She always has a smile on her face and takes the effort to really get to know her customers. Service is fast and everything is hot and fresh. Also, many of the customers here order to-go and actually get the food delivered to their homes. Make sure to take advantage of this because the delivery guys are super nice and it's very useful and convenient! All in all, if you're ever in the area and want some Chinese food that's reasonably priced, fast, and good tasting without sacrificing friendly service, this is the place for you. Best Chinese food in mill valley. Small place with a big heart. Brought a mess of folks here and we order a crazy amount of food. Highlighted favorites: pork buns, mushu pork, shrimp chowmein, walnut shrimp, dry fry green beans and orange chicken. Can't remember the soup name we had, but that was so delicious as well. I moved here from SF so am a bit of a food snob. These guys are pretty good all around, but what makes me go here almost every week is that they have the best wonton soup I have ever tasted. The portion is big (good enough for a lunch), and it has super savory yummy big wontons, and lots of fresh veggies. It is a super yummy healthy meal. The other food is good, and I do order it frequently because it is so close to where I live, but I have had better food other Chinese food places in the city. It is a little too greasy for me, but my kids love it, so great for them. But never better wonton soup. read more

My boyfriend and I frequent this establishment. It's one of our absolute favorites. The staff are friendly and take the initiative to really pay attention to and remember their customers. I love when the woman who works there remembers I like extra soy sauce. We usually get the salt and pepper chicken and hot and sour soup. The soup one of the best hot and sour soups I've ever had. They always have the perfect amount of spice and tofu. The salt and pepper chicken is also always made perfectly. The vegetable combinations and amount of salt and spice is always expertly crafted. Lam's Kitchen was previously known as "Lily Kai", they changed their name when the Lily Kai in Tiburon opened up. They might of sold the name to them, but I am not sure. The same lady works here though, and I know for a fact that she is the manager of Lam's Kitchen, and the Lily Kai that used to be here. The lady who works here is just one of the nicest restaurant owners I have ever met. She always greets you with a big smile and hello which always makes your day. Went here not knowing what to expect. Ended up leaving with a smile and a belly full of delicious food. The woman working there was super friendly and very quick. We got the potstickers to start and they were amazing! So big and full of flavor. I got the house chow mien with chow fun noodles and it was very tasty and the perfect sized portion. I love Lam's Kitchen and always will. I'm mostly here for lunch for the great lunch specials! I can say i've tried most of them and you cannot go wrong. One in particular that I get is the orange chicken with chow mein, it is oh so delicious and homemade orange sauce to top it off. The chicken is nice and lightly battered and fried. Not only does it come with those delicious items, they give you a nice starting soup of your choice (either tomato veggie or hot and sour) I usually get the hot and sour soup also very delicious! Came to lunch after reading the review. Hoped for a hot pot after a rainy cold day hike. But they don't have that on the menu. We ordered hot and sour soup to start with. The soup was ok, American standard. The owner was willing and offered to make noodle soup for the little one! A nice steamy hot beef noodle with baby bok choy! The Mongolia beef was very tender! And the green bean chicken was also flavorful and tender! Both are not too salty nor over cooked to brown! A nice warm lunch! read more

I only trust lam's kitchen. It is really good food. Mei is a doll always smiling very nice, know all of her regulars and their orders. This is top notch customer service to me. So what if they don't deliver anymore. It's only lazy people who complain about that, these are people who don't want to pick up their kids from Tam H.S. so they send a taxi or Uber so they won't be bothered. That's neither here nor there though. I order at least 1-2 times a week and I don't mind driving to go and get it. My favorite is the Westlake beef soup, best I've had over these past 2 yrs. I am so sorry to report back from out of the three dishes I tried tonight, not one could I finish. To their credit I was advised against the lemon prawn & scallop dish, but it just sounded so good. The walnut prawns dish is probably the worst Walnut prawn dish I've ever eaten, again sorry to say. And it seems like most of food is probably deep-fried and if it's stirfried sautéed they just pretty much do the brown sauce, so if you just want veggies with the brown sauce or meat with the brown sauce, or you don't mind deep-fried food, then it's OK I guess. I just like really fresh seafood and really fresh vegetables. But the service was great. [Lily Kai in Tiburon has definitely spoiled it for me. Mai Lee's is my 2nd favorite.] read more
