I have tried every pho restaurants in Marin, and must concluded that the pho broth at Golden Era is by far the most outstanding and honest in terms of the use of ingredients. I can tell a lot of beef bones, meat and time were used to create this pho broth. It is absolutely consistent from one visit to another, extremely smooth , flavorful and on the rich side. This is now my new favorite pho restaurant in Marin. I could only wish they open more days every week. Make sure you check the restaurant opening hours before going.

Located in downtown San Rafael, there is street parking and parking areas that are meter paid. We came in at 12 ish on a Monday and ordered right away. It wasn't busy but as soon as our food came out the restaurant was filled! We got: 1. Lao papaya salad 2. Lao sausage 3. Khao Piak - chicken 4. Khao Poon Lao papaya salad was amazing! As for the lao sausage, this could be eaten with rice but pairing it with freshly steamed veggies is even better. Get your fiber in! The sauce paired with this appetizer is nice as well. I believe this was made fresh in house, and we should have asked for scissors because the pieces were so long. They remind me of the noodles that are used for banh canh. I picked up my order from the store/to-go section so I didn't see the restaurant space but just looking at the space I was in, it was so cute. They have some items for sale as well & a cute set up of their beverages. I love the use of colors on the building & space. I'm looking forward to coming back again soon!
