Pho was pretty good
Christy C.

This is one of the better pho spots in Arizona (since there aren't that many "authentic" ones to begin with!) Parking is pretty easy since there is a big parking lot and it's shared with Food City Service was decent, not good or bad Inside was quite small but it usually doesn't get too busy so no need to worry about it being crowded or there being a wait. Menu has a good variety of appetizers, beef noodle soup (pho), vermicelli bowls (bún), and rice dishes! Pricing is reasonable ($12-$15+). The Special pho comes in 2 sizes ($13.99 - regular & $15.99 - large) and the other varieties of pho are $11.99 - regular & $13.99 - large. The Special Noodle Soup was very good with plenty of sliced beef, meatballs, briskets, tendon, and tripe. The beef and brisket were very tender but the tendon and tripe were a little tough and hard to chew. The broth was very flavorful and delicious without being too overly salty and loaded with MSG. The Traditional Vietnamese Drip Coffee ($4.99) was interesting and something I've never seen or had before! Basically, they gave me a glass full of ice and a phin (coffee filter). It was pretty cool watching the coffee brew and slowly drip down into the little cup! This was definitely one of the strongest coffee I've ever had! Would definitely recommend and return!

Nothing fancy about this place but very clean. The Pho, bowls and egg rolls were fantastic. Lots of great flavor. It was very good and best part close to home! I don't have to travel to Mesa or Glendale for some good Pho. So glad we found this place. I will definitely be back.

I have been searching for a good pho place for a while since my last one went downhill. This is it! This place is delicious. From the pork eggs rolls, which were filled with flavor and came out fresh and hot, to the pork in the noodle bowl, to the amazing broth in the pho. Service was great as well. I would highly recommend this place.

Grilled pork vermicelli noodle bowl

The restaurant was a little warm inside since it seemed they only had fans going but it was clean and staff were very helpful. We ordered vegetable spring rolls, vermicelli rice noodle bowl with grilled pork and the tofu pho is vegetable broth. Everything was amazing! The vegetable spring rolls were fresh and crunchy. They also were stuffed nicely and had amazing flavor inside. The vermicelli noodle bowl was so light, crunchy, and refreshing with just the right amount of warmth coming from the tender, seasoned pork. The pho was flavorful and light on the stomach while filling. This is my new spot now and I highly recommend.

Chicken udon and Taro

I was really excited to try this place and it was honestly good ! I got the chicken udon and taro bubble tea ! Only reason for 4 stars which is totally my fault but I did not care for the udon noodles I didn't realize that what is was. Which is all my bad but it really threw off the pho. But had great flavor overall!!

Food was amazing !! Great fast service ! Ambiance of the whole place was great even though the place was busy service was awesome . I had the ox tail pho w beef tendon no noodles extra bean sprout, extra onion & extra basil . Ox tail was super tender . Appetizers & , veggies was fresh! Broth was more than perfect for a cold rainy day in AZ. We will be returning for sure . Also my daughter said their taro w boba was delicious!

#61. Pork Chop with White Rice

A Vietnamese place is authentic if you smell the fish sauce and pho broth once you walk in. This hole in the wall place has amazing food. I ordered the Pork Chop, Bun Bo Hue and Spring Rolls. The noodles in the Bun Bo Hue are thick rice noodles that are just incredible. Service here is pretty fast and attentive. Will certainly be my spot for a Vietnamese fix.

Pho AV My go to dish is #35 - Egg noodles with Wontons - Mì hoành thánh, for $10.99 you get the Egg noodles in pork broth with wontons, shrimp, squid, fish meat balls, & quail egg. Great when it gets cold or you just want some warm soup. We always get #1 - Spring rolls - Gỏi cuốn - 2 rolls for $4.99. Fresh pork & Shrimp spring rolls with vermicelli, lettuce, cilantro, mint & sprouts wrapped in delicious rice paper, don't forget the peanut dipping sauce! The #3 - Egg rolls - Chả giò - 2 rolls for $4.99 are also a nice appetizer, Egg Roll stuffed with pork & veggies wrapped in rice paper deep fried with a nice crispy shell. This is one of the closest Vietnamese Restaurants to us and food is always authentic and tasty

Egg noodles (birds nest)
Myphuong L.

We asked our Phoenix friends for recommendations and they suggested this place. I love that their menu has lots of options besides pho. We got wonton soup without the noodles ($10.99), dry egg noodle birds nest ($12.99), and salted fish fried rice with shrimp ($11.99) to share among four of us. Either we were hungry or everything tasted good here! The dry egg noodles were crispy and crunchy until you drenched it in the sauce then it'll soak up all the flavors from the sauce. The wonton soup broth was clear. You snooze you lose because I didn't get to have a wonton. Either they ate a lot or there weren't enough to begin with and they were small. Salted fish fried rice was my least favorite because it was lacking the salted fish so it wasn't salty from the fish but salty from the salt. It was more rice than fish and very few shrimp. This dish is usually hit or miss and more known to Chinese than Vietnamese. It was more like a plain fried rice. Overall, food was great. This place remained busy throughout with lots of take out orders while we were there.

Spicy brisket and lemongrass soup.

Finally a Vietnamese restaurant with really good food, without driving to Mesa. Not quite my mom's cooking, but great, reasonable priced..... 7.5 miles way. Nguyening!!! Spicy lemongrass and brisket soup with shrimp paste and veggies. Current menu is uploaded.

For years some of the best pho in the valley. Their prices are very reasonable, if you order takeout the food is ready when you get there.

After reviewing the menu we decided on Lemongrass chicken with vegetables, beef with vegetables, beef vermicelli, and shrimp vermicelli. Service is always fast here. I ordered the lemongrass chicken. It is pretty spicy. The flavoring was really nice with a fish sauce in it. It was probably spicier than I wanted. Think I'll go back to my noodle order next time. It was good to try something different though. I would give my dish four stars. Otherwise everything else gets five stars. Free street parking outside.

The restaurant seems to charge for every little thing and the staff is slow and forgetful. Having to get up so many times just to remind them about our order is simply not acceptable. I really hope things improve, especially for long time customers who have supported this place for years Ambience The ambience was very cute and charming. The space feels inviting and has a pleasant atmosphere. Food The food was good. We ordered the catfish spring rolls and they were delicious once everything finally made it to the table. Service The service was the biggest issue and it was very disappointing, especially since my family has been coming here for 3 years. Parts of our order were missing, including several side dishes and even the sauce for the spring rolls. We asked for a cup of ice and that was missing too. We waited about 10 minutes after receiving the catfish before the vegetables were brought out and we had to keep asking for simple items. It's a shame because things taste best when the food is still hot, but the catfish was already cold once they brought out all the small dishes that came with the main dish. Because the staff was moving so slowly, we ended up walking to the counter (6 times) just to follow up on things that should have been brought to us without asking. It honestly felt like we were serving ourselves. There should be no excuse why service was so slow because there's two waitress and only one other table. The Vietnamese coffee tasted sickly sweet and burnt. After taking one sip, I asked to switch to a Thai tea, hoping it would be better, but that drink was also extremely sickenly sweet. I returned it after one sip as well. I was surprised to see that I was charged for both drinks and was told it was because I drank them, which did not feel fair at all. They even charged us for the lemon slices.

But somehow I had saved this one to my map so I came here with a couple friends for dinner last week. I wasn't super hungry, so I just ordered spring rolls, crispy chicken dumplings and a "dragon egg" boba tea "smoothie." Though it was on their menu under "Smoothies" it was not a smoothie at all. It was an icee. That said, it was still delicious and I loved the fresh and fruity boba balls. The flavor was more lychee than strawberry, but I didn't mind. My friends got an appetizer plate and 5-spice chicken. Both enjoyed their food very much. The restaurant has a casual atmosphere, but does have sit-down service. Very chill vibes, and prices were fair. The place was clean, staff was attentive, and the peanut sauce that came with my spring rolls wasn't spicy, which I appreciated! So glad we tried this place out, and I would definitely like to come here again, especially when I have a bigger appetite!!

This place stays packed, which is always a good sign--and it definitely delivered. I went with the tofu veggie pho, while my husband ordered the beef special pho. Both were genuinely delicious. The broth had great flavor, everything tasted fresh, and it hit that perfect comforting-but-not-heavy balance. Service was quick and super friendly, even with how busy it was, which we appreciated. It's not quite a 5-star "blown away" experience, but it's a strong 4 stars and absolutely somewhere I'd come back to. We left completely full--but not that overly stuffed, regret-it-later kind of full. Just satisfied. If you're looking for a no-frills, reliable Vietnamese spot with great pho, this one's worth a visit.

The ambience is super comfortable, easy, casual. But, it's *super* loud, like really, really loud. The 4 of us had to literally scream, top of our lungs, to hear each other, and these aren't big tables, it's tight in there, so you're very close together. We left with sore throats from yelling. It felt like "a relief" when we stepped out front. After 2 hours sitting in the wooden seats, my butt was also relieved to be getting up. Parking is ridiculous, it's a very thin one way driveway with *no way to turn around* when you reach the end - back it up! Super tiny parking lot. Food: the food was very good. We ordered 6-8 things for the 4 of us because all items are pretty small. Top section of the menu are called smaller items. They were. Items on the bottom section are bigger, but not big. For perspective, when the 4 of us split an item from the bottom "entree section" we each got 2-3 bites/forks-full. So a full entree for one person is 8-12 bites. All items tasted very good, clearly high quality, well curated and definitely unique to this restaurant. The steamed white rice was hot, steamy, moist and sticky, really good. The Panang Chicken was really good, different, creamy, dark, rich and smokey. I added pictures of the menu, inside, patio, bar and a few food items so you can see for yourself. Would I go back? I would because the service was great, visual atmosphere was comfortable, and food was high quality, but turning the music volume down at least 1/2 way from what we had would go a long way,... a looooong way, seriously. Increasing the portion size of menu entrees would also be an improvement since they're about the same price as larger portions elsewhere. And throw some cushions on those inside wooden benches, our butts will thank you. Overall this was a good first visit and I'd try Glai Baan again, hoping for the same great service, quality food and updates to the other items.

In fact, I'm pleasantly surprised by their growing menu and their willingness to better themselves by listening to Yelp feedback. You can really feel the spirit of home-cooking and the cozy atmosphere of a locally owned restaurant here. In the best way possible, service hasn't changed - it's still the same friendly owner greeting you with a smile and overall cheerful attitude. You can tell that they are actively growing as a restaurant and I can't help but want to cheer them on! Today, I had their banh mi pho with a side of Chinese donuts to dip into the pho broth. Absolutely delicious and great concept. My constructive feedback is if they can dial in their pho broth (which I already enjoy) to have more in-depth bone broth/spice flavor and less reliance on maybe the salty aspect. I really wanted to like this spot, especially as a fan of a well-balanced bánh mì. The sandwich was generous and good value, loaded with meat, but the execution didn't quite come together. The vegetables were tucked toward the back of the bun, making it hard to enjoy that classic balance in each bite. The mayo was far too heavy and the meat leaned overly sweet, which threw off the overall flavor. It also could have used more jalapeños and cilantro to bring some freshness and contrast. The bread was crispy, which was nice, but it was much larger in size and shape than a traditional baguette, leaning more toward a big roll than that light, airy texture you'd expect. Overall, good value but missed the mark on balance and authenticity for me. Saluti.
