It was a beautiful day for drinks outside after work. We entered this establishment and asked if we could order drinks outside. We weren't even seated before the bar Nazi laid down the law. From what I understand, the owner (short, blonde, bitchy person) informed us that we couldn't sit under the pavilion, we couldn't get happy hour prices and we had to get the drinks at the bar with no server. WOW! We really should have just walked out. The bartender was pleasant and gave us excellent service. We tipped him well. The owner's bad manners were not his fault. In the meantime, customers began to arrive for dinner and were greeted by servers and graciously seated. My biggest regret is giving my hard-earned money to this establishment. I worked for The Culinary Institute of America for many years. I know what good service is. Believe me this wasn't it. I understand you can profit by flipping tables with higher tabs, however that doesn't excuse poor service. The Hudson Valley is a food mecca. Do yourself a favor and choose another dinner venue where you will be treated with kindness and respect. Don't waste your time or money. Ordered 4 of their Sunday special of the smoked prime rib.... it was HORRIBLE and seemed off. We asked for medium rare and received what seemed to be completely blue in the center and well done on the bottom. If you can imagine what it would be like to eat a prime rib that was haphazardly cooked in a microwave, that was the different temperatures of the meat as well as the awkward textures. The included sides of string beans/carrots and mashed potato were decent. The "au jus" tasted like they took a bottle of liquid smoke and just added water with no other seasoning. Not appetizing at all. We really want to love this place because its so close to us but the quality of their food is majorly inconsistent. Theyve struck out way too many times on entrees with red meat for us. Their wings are good and their sandwiches arent bad. However, we do NOT recommend any of their steaks or prime ribs. read more

Took my dad here for Father's Day.. worst experience I've EVER had at a restaurant. Our waitress was definitely heavily drunk & had no idea what was going on. Had reservations, Waited 20 min just for a greet & our drinks (water) when she comes back she comes back with 2 alcoholic drinks and hands them to us. Not ours.. we laugh it off she takes them back. Comes back again with a glass of wine that we did not order (she laughs again) , still no water. Finally got our waters (FROM the bus boy) Another 30 min go by and she still hasn't came back to take our orders.. finally takes our orders. After an HOUR she comes to bring our food, the WRONG FOOD! (She laughs) Then tells us she forgot to put our order in over an hour and a half of sitting there. Another 20 min go by and she comes back to tell us they're out of the food that we ordered. 2 HOURS of waiting to tell us they don't have the meal. She still thought it was funny. After 2 hours of waiting.. & us being the only table left in the whole restaurant.. Fries were burnt to a crisp not even enjoyable Prime rib was a big chunk of unedible fat on a plate New Orleans pasta had 2 pieces of ground up chicken STILL paid $90+ for a small burger, a piece of fat, and a bowl of pasta. Owner only apologized & did nothing helpful. Waitress apologized & still thought it was funny enough to continue laughing about it Even if they offered me a free 3 course meal I would NEVER return Unappetizing & careless people. 10/10 DO NOT recommend 1 star for the bus boy who did most of the work read more

Ordered a turkey sandwich. It was served warm. It did not say that on the menu. Really wasn't good. My spouse had the chicken wings. They were great, but the celery did not look fresh. There was also an old filthy bug repeller on our table. I don't think the food is as fresh as it should be. The place also needs a good top to bottom cleaning. Everything looks dirty and dusty. Some of these reviews are borderline hilariously nit picky. My husband and I came for lunch here twice, sat outside, both had the haddock sandwich w side salad and split an order of sweet potato fries. Huge and yummy and the outside area is beautiful. Not a ton of places with good outdoor seating in the area, tucked back from road with nice flowers etc. Service was good. . They would not honor a gift certificate that was purchased right before Covid hit. It is my understanding that it is New York State law to not have an expiration on gift certificates/cards. Went last night with a party of 5, arrived around 7 & were seated to the right outside, not under the patio. Service was slower than slow with no explanation (or apology) except "the kitchen is short staffed". Meanwhile, tables that were seated later than us were done with their meals before ours even arrived. Food was ok (some liked theirs better than others did). When the check arrived a 20% gratuity was added in (not usual for a party of 5). When this was questioned, the response was , "that's the way we do it & we have never gotten any complaints before." We dined at this restaurant and brought friends especially for the sauerbraten that was on menu. I have to tell you I am of German decent and it was the worst attempt at sauerbraten I have ever encountered. Never have I seen rare sauerbraten. Sauerbraten is made as a marinated pot roast. It it tender and well cooked. Impossible to have it come out rare. The chef is serving tough roast beef with a sour gravy and noodles and passing it off as sauerbraten and speatzle. Please do everyone a favor and take it off the menu until you have a chef who knows how to cook speatzle ( which is cheap to make and much better homemade) and sauerbraten. We were highly disappointed at a waste of good money for a dinner out. Yes we did bring it to the waitresses attention and told her there is no way to make rare sauerbraten. Her answer was" I have no idea about that I can cook it, more if you want." I told her you can't turn roast beef into pot roast! I was thoroughly embarrassed that we talked our friends into going for sauerbraten. One in our party had steak which was good. The need to stick to what they know. Recently visited the area for the balloon festival. Nacho's were amazing and huge! Steamers in wine sauce delicious. Bay leaves should ALWAYS BE REMOVED!!! oh and PS, the bread goes on the bottom, not the top. This is so people can avoid spilling soup when inserting the spoon. Yesterday afternoon, we were returning from Westchester County, and decided to stop and treat ourselves to a late lunch... early dinner. We've lived in the area our entire lives and, for some reason, never remembered PC PADDOCK when we were looking to go out. When we do go out, we tend to avoid corporate chains and go for the owner/operated, mom n pop, style places ... WELL ... we'll remember from now on !!!!!! It was a late summer afternoon, warm but not hot out, and we were seated out under the tent on the patio. Our server IMMEDIATELY brought menus and took our drink order. On returning with our drinks, she took our appetizer order; clams on the half-shell and an order of ale steamers. Quickly she returned with the clams - the half shells were fresh, clean, plump, juicy, and well presented. Maureen LOVED EM.... My steamers were perfectly cooked .. just opened and not overcooked so as to be rubbery, mine were tender and clean. (Only wish there was a touch of garlic and maybe some fresh herbs in the broth). We then decided to order the Sunday Special - SMOKED ROASTED PRIME RIBS .... While we were having our 1st drinks and the clams, we saw the chef/owner remove the ribs from his outside smoker and THEY LOOKED UNBELIEVABLE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! When the order was brought out, they were fresh cut, juicy, not full of fat and grizzle, and TASTY !!!! With just the slightest hint of good smoke. (If over-smoked I believe you can kill the natural beef flavor that you want with a good piece of beef). They were a decent cut of meat, not too thick and not too thin .. just enough to eat comfortably without loosening your belt. Maureen got the mashed potatoes and she thought the were tasty and well prepared. I got the Tavern Fries which were crisp and well fried. We both got a side of julienned carrots and fresh green beans which were fresh and NOT OVER-COOKED. We were VERY PLEASED with all levels of this location - service was smart, quick, efficient, friendly, open, attentive and overall very pleasant. The food was an absolute bargain and well worth the bill. The outside patio was clean and pleasant and was wonderful place to sit and enjoy our food and drinks. I am so dissatisfied with the salad I ordered tonight ! This restaurant has been a favorite of mine for years however tonight I got a Caesar salad with shrimp to go and the dressing was nothing more than tasteless, gloppy mayo and the shrimp wasn't even grilled .. again no flavor . PC's is not fine dining, folks. It is, however, a pretty decent little bar and grill. They have upgraded the beers they have on tap and there is a nice assortment of microbrews. The building is ancient and has its own rustic "charm" (some of you may find it charming, while other may just say, um. WTH with the dead animals on the wall?) The food is pretty middle of the road. I wouldn't go for the expensive entrees, stick with the sandwiches and bar-type offerings -- that's pretty much their wheelhouse, in my opinion. But you could do a lot worse around here for a quick bite and some beers. read more

The drinks (we choose a couple of their specialty drinks: Lynchburg margerita) were good but expensive. I have driven by this place for probably close to 20 years and have always wondered what is was like. Mh husband and i finally ate there and were pleasantly surprised. Old fashioned pub like atmosphere with traditional American fare. We both had steaks and enjoyed them as much as we could since we were pretty full after sharing an order of onion rings and eating our salads. So this is a nice little spot for lunch and dinner that offers excellent service and tasty food. In addition, you can option to dine in their lush front outdoor space, that I'm looking forward to visiting in autumn. Had a fried fish Po' Boy, not a Poor Boy as the menu states...NOLA anyone?
