What a gem I found close to home. Best of both worlds ! Jamaican & Dominican dishes combined . Was greeted by the owner Ingred who was so inviting! Sat at the bar and had great small talk convo. I ordered the jerk chicken with white rice and beans all the flavors were there an it was amazing . She made me a passion fruit marg which was so tasty. I can't wait to go back and try more of their dishes. Need to review the oxtail next time for sure. Small and cozy place. We finally made it here tonight for dinner and we are so happy that we did. We love Caribbean food so we had to come visit. The space is on the smaller side, not a lot of tables. Loved the decor. They have decent size bar which was nice. We were greeted and seated right away. Started with rum punches , freshly prepared and my god were they good. For apps we had with the jerk dry rub wings. So tasty!! I am a bit of a wing snob and these were good. Would def recommend blue cheese vs ranch as dipping sauce but that's just me For dinner we had the jerk chicken and pernil. Love that they have different rice options, white, rice with peas and Moro. Jerk chicken was flavorful. Spicy! Pernil was good. Tender. I enjoyed it. To finish it off we had the in-house Dominican tres leches cake. Amazing so so good. We did also order a beef pattyto try but had to bring that home, was so full! Can't wait to try it tho. We were shown to our table by our server and hostess, Ingrid. It had been a while since we've had Dominican food, so I had some questions. Ingrid was very informative, which helped us make a more educated decision on our meal choices. We went with the Roast Pork Empanadas for starters, which were delicious. They came with a Dominican version of chimichurri sauce. It was full of flavor and very tasty. The stewed chicken was fork tender and fell off the bone. The Dominican Mac and Cheese was outstanding and very filling. I had the Hanger steak special with a side of Tostones. The green banana tostones are so good, with a crispy shell and tender, flaky inside. We finished the meal off Dominican style pound cake, which was not too sweet and very good. We enjoyed the eclectic musical playlist while we dined. Ingrid said it was made to represent the three things the restaurant represents, American, Dominican and Jamaican culture. We hit the jackpot last night when looking for a restaurant that was open after 8pm. What we found was authentic Dominican food. We started with empanadas that were delicious and served with a sauce on the side that was amazing. It was chock full of a diced assortment of peppers and garlic, cilantro , parsley and dill, etc. The jerked chicken entree was seasoned with just the right amount of spice and came with steamed veggies and plantains. My hanger steak special - Churrasco topped with the house made Guasacaca sauce - was a highlight. Soooo tender and served with the same sauce that came with the empanadas. I had tostones with the hanger steak. They were among the best I've ever eaten! Nice and thin and not greasy at all. Service was exceptionally friendly and pricing moderate. I live in eastern Putnam county and am always looking for central meeting places to have dinner with friends who live closer to the Hudson River. By chance I happened to stumble across this gem and am so glad I did. Very unassuming but, as soon as you walk in, the vibe is warm and the staff is incredibly friendly. It was quiet for a Thursday night, but the atmosphere still felt cozy enough to catch up with an old friend. The menu is reasonably priced and the food is fresh. I had a margarita, beef patty to start and the pernil with rice and beans. The plates were rich, filling and full of flavor. The drink was well mixed and if I didn't have to drive, I would probably have a couple more rounds! Ingrid was super friendly and attentive while also minding our space and giving my friend and I time to enjoy our company and the meal. I heard about this restaurant from a friend. My husband is Jamaican, so I thought we'd give it a try. It's located in a very non conspicuous spot at the corner of Clove Branch & 82 - I think I could have driven past this place and not realized that it was there- which is very unfortunate because the food is amazing. My husband thought that it would be a typical Jamaican restaurant with the steam tables and a takeout area. But nope- it is legit restaurant with a full bar and a very nice sit-down area. It was such a change from what we were used to. We ordered oxtail and jerk chicken. I have to say that the jerk sauce was absolutely delicious- it was creamy and just the right amount of spice - I could taste all the flavors of the jerk. My husband had the oxtail, and he said it was delicious and spicy too. We've been to many Caribbean restaurants, and they miss the mark because they try to Americanize the food by taking down the flavors or spices. They don't realize that we went to a Caribbean restaurant because we WANT the flavors of your country otherwise, we would have just went to Outback. I had a very nice meal here with a friend. We both had the jerk chicken with yellow rice and beans. The restaurant is clean and modern-looking. It has a nice open floor plan and you can tell they've been doing a lot of work on the place! The cocktails were delicious, the waitress was attentive, and the food was good. We enjoyed our visit. My husband and I bought a Seize the Deal certificate for Coco Bella. The cuisine is Caribbean flare which is not something we normally eat. We wanted to try this restaurant because we passed it all the time. Kicks 105.5 promoted the Seize the Deal so it was a great opportunity to try the food. The Owners are beautiful people and so pleasant. The wife gave me a suggestion of Jerk Chicken dish with rice and my husband got a Hamburger dish. They have jerk aioli and the flavors were so delicious. The perfect blend of spice and freshness. Everything was fresh and we ordered a banana pudding too. It was served in a martini glass and was the BEST banana pudding! It was made fresh and not processed like most banana puddings. I STRONGLY suggest this restaurant as it is a new clean caribbean feel. They also have a Prohibition night Saturday March 8th at 6pm where they will be having 20's 30's drinks and festivities.
