Braised Short Ribs special - excellent all the way around

It was our first visit and we had such a lovely evening meal. The staff were all so friendly, the ambience was just what we were looking for, on the quietish side, beautiful and thoughtfully decorated. The food was obviously prepared by expert care and attention. Thank you for a memorable evening. We will be back.

What a great add to Gardiner! The restaurant looks like it's had some work done since it was Liquid Mercantile, and it looks beautiful on the inside. I had two drinks, the Pimenta rosa & an espresso martini. The espresso martini was brewed with an excellent Brazilian coffee... it was a top 3 martini for me. For dinner, I went with the moqueca (fish stew) and it was delicious! It reminded me a bit of Thai curry, but very unique, light, and just delicious. I would go back again. The staff was attentive and friendly.

Great space. Excellent cocktails. Edible food. Yelp Review wants a minimum of 85 characters so there.

Kids were hungry as we cruised up 87... I love diners, figured let's give it a try. Unfortunately,…read morethis place is dirty, food is average and is way overpriced. $3.75 for soda and most menu items are $20-$35. We spent over $70 ordering modestly for our family of 4, including two young kids... no appetizer, no dessert. An example of how ridiculous the pricing is: a hamburger is roughly $10. If you want to make it "deluxe" that'll be $8 extra for fries, a small thing with coleslaw and lettuce/tomato. Paying by credit card? They'll pass the transaction fee on to you. I think a place like this knows you won't get up and leave once you look at the menu and see the prices, which is why they get away with this kind of behavior. Judging by the scant few customers we saw, I suspect other people felt the same way... ripped off and not going back.

For a rainy day, comfort food was calling and Plaza D. on Main St in New Paltz took care of that…read more This diner has the typical old diner combination of booths, tables in the center of the room and a long sit-down counter. The words "mozzarella grilled cheese" plus "tomatoes" might not get you excited but, I'm a fan of that combo. I also ordered a Vanilla Egg Cream. I mean- it's a diner classic for good reason. My grilled cheese.+van. egg cream turned out to be the perfect pairing. A grilled cheese might be basic, have burnt bread slices and gets soggy quick, but Plaza's version oozed like nobody's business. The egg cream was another major hit. The milk+seltzer +vanilla syrup all mingled flawlessly. What's more, all the ingredients were perfectly chilled. I totally loved my lunch combo and it was quite the surprise considering the low rating here. The only issues I had were the $2 charge for tomato slices in my grilled cheese and the $6.50 for the sandwich itself when I can get it elsewhere for 4 bucks.

ALERT: NO MORE $3 MARTINIS!!!!!!…read more So I definitely was one of the people who let the cat out of the bag on this one! I hate gate keeping and I know myself, my husband, and many of my friends supported this place. I mean seriously $3 martini night was something that made this place a gem but without it I honestly don't see us coming back! This place truly has sooooo much potential. I wish I could help them with some ideas to really make this restaurant the spot to be. I can tell you now though charging $19 for a martini is not it!! Also I tried their new banana bread martini and it wasn't great. Which makes it worst that it's so much more money. I mean I am truly a nobody but I have a list of ideas for them if they ever want to know because this place truly has great bones. Here's one for free. On one of your lowest sale nights I'm assuming Thursday because that's when you had your $3 special, why not offer girl dinner? A $25 special that includes two basic flavored martinis and French fries. For $30 include two Caesar or house salads. I gaurantee people with order that. And you can't tell me you are getting hit too hard for food cost for salad and fries? But also you gotta change your decor up a bit. Look at the surrounding restaurants that are charging that much for a martini and the vibe of the place. If I'm going to spend bougie money I want to feel like I'm in a bougie spot!

On the weekends it turns on a late-night party scene filled with college students. It is lined up right in Main Street with other smaller restaurants and bars. This was one of my favorite cheap eateries in the town while I was in college. I have been here twice since for happy hour specials. I ordered the chicken wings and the shrimp tacos. The drinks were around $5 which is a steal compared to New York City prices. In the past they used to offer a large fishbowl drink for your birthday. It was huge and took several people to drink it. Currently it is the size of a large cup as you can see in the picture. It does the job but it is much smaller than what it was in 2010. The staff here is very friendly and helpful. I usually sit at the bar which is a great place to meet others and watch the game. Everyone usually comes in for drinks and a quick meal. There are large tables for families to come in and spread out. Everyone was nice here. I plan to come back soon and take advantage of the happy hour specials again.
