EXCELLENT rodizio! Not a HUGE variety of meats but enough that I got stuffed in the first round. AND, their rodizio comes with a bounty of delicious accompaniments that you don't NEED a huge variety of meats. All the meats has great flavor and were perfectly cooked. My favorite was the skirt steak. Thinly sliced but still juicy, garlicky, and oh, so good! A little put off that we couldn't take our accompaniments home as we barely touched them. I hate to think they just trashed it. We wanted to have space in our bellies for the meats and not fill up on the house made potato chips even though that's one of my faves. The tiramisu cake was on dry side. Could've used more coffee soaking and more mascarpone. Overall, a nice experience, clean place with modern fixtures, and the service was wonderful.

Food in this place is horrible, and it's not authentic Brazilian. They serve fried Spanish chips, and bread (which was stale) that comes with a plate of olives and vegetables in olive oil that is more characteristic of Portugal or Spain, and it's not something served in a Brazilian Churrascaria. The typical Brazilian Rodízio Steakhouse will welcome the guest with courtesy fresh cheese bread or regular Brazilian French-styled roll bread and butter, not olives and vegetables in olive oil, dry stale bread, and no butter. We ordered Brazilian cheese bread. They came late (we had to ask for the appetizer) so service was not good. Paid $13 for a mere eight (8) very small cheese bread. Simply ridiculous and overpriced. The cheese bread was really horrible. My companion had the sirloin and shrimp dish. The steak sirloin was very chewy and the shrimp texture was like rubber. Absolutely overcooked. For a plate costing almost $40 it was sautéed for too long and/or the meat served as a "sirloin" was not high quality beef. Two shrimps came. This was my companion's dish who was also having a hard time with the meat because amongst the sirloin and the shrimp she found another kind of meat which we didn't know whether it was pork or other kind of meat. Nobody knew what that meat was and we asked. I had the picanha dish, which came with white rice, black beans, sautéed collard greens with garlic, and a mix of onions, tomatoes, and vinegar. The picanha was borderline mediocre, but acceptable. Not very good picanha by any stretch of imagination, but the lesser mediocre dish this place had to offer. Farofa with bacon, onion, and garlic is a delicious treat that comes with the rice and beans in normal Brazilian Churrascaria. Not this one. The dish was incomplete and whoever knows Brazilian churrasco will know exactly what this means. The owner of this restaurant is not Brazilian but Portuguese, though the place advertises as a Brazilian steakhouse and doesn't really serve authentic Brazilian food. This detail would not matter, if this restaurant served great food. However, it doesn't, and the premise that this place is a Brazilian Churrascaria is false. Even the name of the restaurant is a joke: the word "Paladar" means taste in Brazilian Portuguese. Their food is overall not tasty and, in fact, the food is bad. Service in this place is awful. Appetizer came late, and it was not friendly or courteous. We complained about the chewy sirloin to the waitress who apologized, but did nothing else. She was not a good server because she was too entangled with a larger table and ignored my table (who had only two persons) thinking obviously only about the larger tip. The restaurant was also understaffed and the bus boys knew very little and did even less, so this semi-rude waitress was running around like a headless chicken and simply didn't care about our table. Management in this place doesn't exist. Ambiance is dark and at dinner it seems to be too formal lit with candles. Not the typical vibrant and colorful ambiance that an authentic Brazilian Steakhouse normally should have and in most cases go for. Ambiance is more like a Portuguese or Spanish tavern than a Brazilian Churrascaria. Rodízio of meats is almost $56 per person, and this place does not allow sharing. It is highly overpriced considering that the meat is subpar. I invite readers to compare with other Brazilian Steakhouses (except Fogo de Chão, which is also super expensive, but much better and truly Brazilian.) Specifically in areas where there is competition (such in Newark, NJ), Brazilian rodízio places would be around no more than $38 per person or $40 tops with very good quality meats and variety. The most Brazilian thing in this venue is a mosaic in the reception depicting the Christ Redeemer statue, and vicinities of the most famous city in Brazil: Rio. Bit of context: I am Brazilian from Rio, born and raised there, and I have been eating Brazilian food all my life. I know Brazilian Churrascaria (s). This place is not one of them. I observed that most of the clientele in this place is American (mid to high class) and have absolutely no clue about what exactly they are eating or paying for, flushing money down the toilet and being ripped off. Brazilians won't eat there twice. Summary of the review: 1. Food not authentic per se 2. Food overpriced and subpar 3. Service mediocre, understaffed, not friendly 4. Ambiance too formal for a Churrascaria that "pretends" to serve Brazilian food Avoid this place at all costs. This place is a rip off and there are way better authentic Brazilian steakhouses in NJ. Not coming back.

Came here with a group of friends and truly almost left after an hour of being seated and no service at all. Everyone got rodizio except for me since I don't eat much red meat. The quality and quantity of rodizio made up for the wait time but really just barely. It was about an hour before my food came out and even then it took a while for the meat to come out. It was almost ridiculous and we contemplated leaving quite a few times. The problem is that the waiters didn't even acknowledge us as we were staring just waiting for someone to come talk to us. They had signs all over the restaurant saying they were short staffed but honestly they weren't that busy. Everyone eventually left full, the meat was a good portion for the price. My chicken dish was just alright, tasted very salty. Just be prepared for a wait if you come dine here, other than that the place itself is very nice and has a huge parking lot.

Wow 66.00 dollars for this! Guess it will be my last time there. Portions are off for pricing extremely disappointing I rather drive 1 1/2 hours to newark than spend this amount of money again here. To think this was one of my favorite restaurants.

***If there's one review you should read before deciding to come here, it's this one. I'm about to…read morewax poetic.*** Let me preface by saying that I'm a young adult who considers himself a bit of a foodie. I work in Times Square so I usually frequent fine dining establishments in the city, but my home is North Jersey so I am acutely aware that there are some hidden gems in this state. Last week, I was at the Saddle River Inn in Saddle River and was blown away. But this place is far, far, even more exceptional. Greatest dining experience ever. Called the restaurant due to a last-minute cancelation in my party. Evan, a manager, was super helpful in waiving any cancelation fees. It's BYOB and there's a brewery across the street that apparently does takeout. I just brought beer from my house. They gave me chilled glasses and a bucket of ice to keep my refreshments chilled. Onto the ambience. You walk in and it's a nice, cozy little place with tables and a bar top with an open kitchen layout behind it. You can see all the food that's cooking and the presentations that go behind each dish - all live in front of you. The chef's were busy but always obliged when I said hey or asked a question. I tried the 5 course chef's tasting menu for $125. You get a little bit of all of the best flavors coming out of the kitchen. And the flavors are always changing. They source their ingredients from local farms. First came out complimentary course #1 - all I remember is it had crudo in it. Then course #1 - gulf shrimp with squid. This is the point where I decide no matter how else dinner plays out, I'm coming back. What fresh ingredients and creative flavor pairings. Next was course #2 - duck confit spring roll. It's just a smaller portion of what's regularly on their menu. This may have been my favorite item of the night. Next was wood fired octopus in tagliatelle pasta. After that, I believe, was complimentary course #2 - what appeared to be a caesar salad. Anything they make is delicious. Finally, I had an American wagyu strip as the fourth course. Absolutely delectable. At this point, I'm in Heaven. But I'm not quite yet full and ready for my dessert - profiteroles - one of my favorite desserts. I was looking forward to it from the moment I walked in and saw it listed on the tasting menu. I only eat 1 meal a day so when I finally eat, I eat a lot. A normal person would be full at this point, but I wanted more. I also couldn't help but think it might have something to do with me not wanting to leave and just try anything this kitchen made. So I ordered more. I asked for their regular menu and ordered some more duck confit spring rolls and some type of pork belly entree. Quick note - the pork belly entree was not good. You have to take the losses on the chin to make the wins matter more. Pork belly over beans? It was like bbq ribs meets an English breakfast. Please get rid of that, respectfully. After 3 bites, I didn't want any more so I quietly flagged down my server, Kat, and told her please quietly take this, I fully intend to pay for it since I ordered it; it's just no good. And I had been raving to her about every dish up until that point. So she insisted that she'd take it off the check. I insisted I'd pay, she kept insisting, so I relented. That's really good customer service. Now time for dessert. I wish I could say I was ending on a better note but the Profiteroles - which I mentioned is a favorite dessert of mine - massive disappointment. After everything else was put together for care, I got notes of freezer for this last one - especially the pumpkin part. I love this restaurant and I intend on returning as soon as possible, so please don't take offense to my constructive criticism. I applaud your efforts to infuse different flavors together. It is working wonders for you. Keep it up. I'm gonna share pictures of everything, including the menu. But the last 2 things I'll talk about are the cost and the service. With the pork belly entree taken off, it was just the 5 course tasting menu, an order of duck confit spring rolls, and a $6 double espresso. The total came out to $168 after taxes. I tipped $168. That's right. 100%. In a world where people like to dock tip percentages from their precious "20%" for what they perceive to be a lack of good service, let's normalize going above 25% for exceptional service. Not everyone can afford 100% like me, but next tip tip your servers 30-35% for exceptional service. As a former server in my heyday, I promise it'll mean more to them than the few extra dollars to you. And exceptional service is what I got. From manager Evan, to server Kat, to all of the others I met - forgive me if I forget any names. Chef Kelly, Chef Mike, Chef Jon, Keira, Jimmy. Thank you for an unforgettable 5-star experience. Keep up the exceptional work. I will see you again soon.

It was so good, I didn't even bother with dressing. My son had the daily special of chorizo tacos. While they did come on flour tortillas, which are not his favorite, the chorizo itself was absolutely delicious. I normally avoid chorizo because it can be super-spicy, but in this case, it was just beautifully flavored with touches of greens and onions on top. We both got the house-made lemonades to drink. One with mint and ginger, which my son quite liked (it's the one that looks like a green potion in the photos); one with lavender, which I adored. We were also offered toast with three different house sauces to try on it as a complementary appetizer. The decor and ambience is cozy, inviting, and charming. Service was prompt and courteous. So yes, by my highly scientific logic, this is also a Mexican spot. The decor definitely leans Mexico, heavy, which its amazing, kept reminding me of my favorite Mexican restaurant. But anyway, we're not here for interior design, we're here to eat. There's a LOT going on here, menu wise and vibe pwise, but in a good way. I ordered the Sandwiches de Miga 'Olímpico' and if you haven't tried them yet, that's a personal failure you can still fix. They're a must. Soft, classic, comforting... except for the edges. The edges were... questionable. Hard/frozen-ish. Not blaming anyone directly, maybe the fridge settings were on "Antarctica," maybe they weren't fully thawed. We'll never know. But that first bite hurt emotionally. It was like ordering a burger without pickles, taking a confident bite, and BOOM! pickle. Suddenly your whole day shifts slightly off center. Service wise: the guy at the counter stared at me, I started my order with zero greeting, felt like human self checkout, and I'm fine with that. Sometimes you don't want conversation, you just want carbs. Despite the frozen edge plot twist, I'm 100% coming back. The food has real potential, the place has character, and I need to try their asado.

He was friendly, on point with timing, and knew the menu and cocktail list inside and out, so much so that it's worth specifically requesting Sterling when you make a reservation or when you're seated. He even recommended my (and his) favorite specialty cocktail, which ended up being the perfect drink to go with the meal. I ordered the Delmonico King Cut steak and it came out a perfect medium rare--flavorful, tender, and cooked exactly as requested. My wife's parmesan‑crusted chicken was also fantastic, with great seasoning and a really nice crisp on the outside. The specialty cocktails were fun and inventive, which fits perfectly with their strong craft cocktail program and full bar. If you can, definitely request to sit in the "Chester Room"; it's a very cozy and quaint dining area, and the fireplace during these chilly winter months makes it feel extra warm and inviting. Between the perfectly cooked steak, my wife's excellent chicken, the creative cocktails, the cozy Chester Room, and especially the top‑tier service from our server, this was an easy 5‑star experience.

Do not waste your time going here ~ be warned…read more We went for lunch on a Tuesday afternoon around 1:00 pm. It was not crowded, almost empty. In the dining room, where we were seated, there was our table of two, another table of two and a table of three. The other two tables were at the end of their meals. Our server, who also greeted us at the door, was more interested in looking at his smart phone than seating us. He gave us the dinner menus, instead of lunch menus which was a sign of things to come. It was almost 1/2 hour before the server returned to take our order. At this point the two other tables of patrons were gone. We ordered a Wedge salad and French onion soup for starters. The Wedge salad was perfect, except for the large piece of Italian bread served with it which was charred, but edible out of desperation. The onion soup was TASTELESS and the cheese on the top of it was BURNT, blackened to the extent there was no mistaking whoever prepared it was not paying attention when they made it and had no problem sending it out to be served burnt. Against my better judgment, and further desperation, I ate the tasteless, burnt soup. For the main course, we had a turkey club and mussels Fra Diavolo. The "fra diavolo" sauce had no kick to it at all. They might as well have called the dish mussels in marinara sauce. The turkey club, which was ordered with no mayonnaise, had almost NO turkey on it ~ no exaggeration ~ there was only one thin slice of turkey on it! I should have sent it back immediately, but I took my first bite and then signaled for the iPhone obsessed server. I asked him for the manager and he panicked as if he did something wrong. I assured him the problem was with the food, although I should have reported him for his inability to put his iPhone down and do his job. The manager came to our table asking how she could help and I showed her the sandwich pointing to the lack of turkey. She agreed that the club sandwich was very much in need of its main ingredient -- turkey. She apologized and took my plate and said she would order me another. About 20 minutes later, our iPhone loving server returned with a new turkey club with the appropriate amount of turkey on it. We were offered no compensation for the first embarrassed turkey club which was almost sans turkey, not that we were looking for some type of compensation, but any type of gesture would have been nice. It has been years since we last ate at the Public House since moving from the area, but this will definitely be our last visit. I wouldn't recommend the place to anyone, even if the food were free. Be forewarned...you would have a more satisfying meal from a fast food restaurant!
