Stopped in this place for the first time last night. Really liked the vibe, tremendous pub food, told my girlfriend this is easily a place I'd come back to. Met the owner Tim, he was cordial, i liked him. Finishing our meal at the bar my Girlfriend asked me a political opinion and in normal soft conversational tones answered her question. Now here's where the night fell off a Cliff. Tim very seriously told me the bar is non political and I was not to discuss politics there. I honestly waited for the laugh as I though it was a joke. I went here with some friends. We grabbed a table in the bar area. There were no servers in the bar area. You had to walk up to the bar, order your drinks and carry them back to your table. The bartender was friendly but I'm not sure why there wasn't a server. All the patrons were friendly also. We did get some food to eat. The menu had many options. For an appetizer we ordered the boneless buffalo wings. They were good except the bartender told us they did not have any more boneless wings and we had to substitute regular wings. We went with the regular wings and they were good. My dinner came with a salad and I ordered the house dressing. The greens were fresh and crisp and the dressing was good. For dinner I ordered the blackened chicken with pasta. It was on the special menu. What impressed me most about the dish was the pasta was cooked perfectly. The dish was much better than I expected. The waitress was attentive and professional but there was no point in her asking us how we wanted our burgers. They came out overcooked and tasteless. After spending all day in the nature, visiting beautiful lake, river and parks in the area, we were starving. Officer in the state park recommended Long Valley restaurant and we decided to give it a try. The menu looked promising, it was hard to decide what to order. For appetizer we shared mozzarella sticks, fried calamari and chicken cordon blue bites. We could choose 3 for $8 or $9. Fried calamari were horrible, couldn't eat them, they were far from being fresh. The worst ones I ever tried. Mozzarella sticks and chicken bites were better, but nothing special. Frozen and microwave reheated. For main course I decided to play it safe with All American burger. My husband got pasta with shrimps and scallops. My burger was tasteless. After adding a lot of ketchup, salt and pepper, it was still really bad. I only ate half of it. Pasta with shrimps and scallops- just blah. It seems that they don't have fresh food at all. I bet they use the microwave more then anything else. The service was okay. I wonder if the good reviews are from friends and family. A restaurant should cook freshly made food, not buy frozen food that anyone can just put in a microwave and have it ready to eat in few minutes. read more

This is hands down the place to be in Long Valley. The service is fast and friendly. The menu has endless options for American Italian and even Mexican options. In the bar area in a booth which has a view of Schooleys Mountain (which was the reason we came to Long Valley). Bar had a lot of people and it was late afternoon. My wife had a twisted Mac and cheese on the specials. It has ham and some sort of gouda cheese sauce. It was outrageous! I had the 16 oz Prime Rib which felt like 2lbs when she handed it to me. It was the best cut of beef i have ever had in my life. You could tell this is a process they have perfected over many years and I don't know anywhere else around you can find home cooked comfort food like they have here. Stopped here for a quick bite after our annual pumpkin picking excursion. Beers were very reasonably priced and the food was priced decent too. The bartender poured a beautiful, perfect, pint of Guinness. We had a Philly cheesesteak with mushrooms. It was made on garlic bread. So good! We also had chilli cheese dogs that were on special. Met a friend for dinner here after work. I had never been but had heard the food was good. And it was great! Got the Mac and Cheese Gouda bites for an appetizer...amazing! Celebrated Mother's Day a day early with my wife because of our schedules and the Valley did not disappoint. With everything going on, obviously dine in was not an option but our take out meals were very good. They also delivered, which most places don't currently, allowing us to stay home. This place is a legit local hot spot. I can't jump to call it a dive, as has been suggested in prior reviews, though it does emanate that. To me, a dive is a bit crustier on the service and homier on the atmosphere. This bar and restaurant is very townie. The few times I've been here, the bar seating has been fully packed by regulars, and the outdoor smoking area well attended. The drink prices are kind of ridiculously cheap-if you drink during happy hour, or any time at the bar, draft beers (not sure if all of them?) are like under $2 per mug, which I'm estimating is a full 12oz mug. The food. Well the food is mediocre bar food, though still very satisfying if you have that expectation. I think this place is the perfect place to come for a ridiculously cheap and simple bite to eat. I have to give an extra shout out to the staff for being really, really friendly and providing quick and efficient service. So I've been here twice with friends. It's definitely a dive bar atmosphere and usually I like that but the food was awful! I got the lunchbox burger and my fries were only somewhat warm and my burger was totally bland and tasted like it had been cooked in a microwave but not for very long since that too was cold! The waitress came about halfway through our meal and said her shift was over and she was definitely trying to rush us out of there.....she was also stoned as all hell! Then in the middle of us talking with no announcement or anything they started karaoke night and it got super loud. I will say though that the bar makes good drinks and the prices aren't bad.
