Normally a good meal. This time, the food was poor, a rib meal had to be sent back because of shards of bone in the dish. Water glasses sat empty for most of the meal. The bread took forever to get there to start and when asked for additional bread and butter, took 30 more minutes to get there with what was obviously a used partially melted blob of butter in the dish. Once we indicated that we would not be having alcohol, the waiter seemed happy to mostly ignore us by asking "do you need anything", but not actually wait around to get an answer. Finally, they would not accept AMEX gift cards because they only accept gift cards if they cover the full amount of the bill. What BS. My family will not be going back. read more

I grew up in Tewksbury, so coming to the Tewksbury Inn is a nostalgic homecoming. First of all there aren't many good food options in Tewksbury, as this area is quite rural. For me, the Tewksbury Inn ranks top in this area for upscale dining experiences, especially ones that I can bring my parents along to. The Inn is nestled in the heart of Oldwick, and the surrounding town is gorgeous and full of old historical buildings and houses (I used to trick-or-treat here as a kid). There are parks, farms, and fields about a mile in each direction, so it's very nice to spend time exploring after your meal. The restaurant itself is very pretty inside. There are two rustic but well-kept dining spaces downstairs and a beautiful dining patio outside. The menu has a wide array of traditional American fare. I've tried half of the menu at this point and each item is unique and done quite well. A few favorites of the family are the Caesar salad, the salmon pita wrap, the Mahi Mahi tacos, and the onion rings. This visit I got a special, the Philly Cheesesteak, and it was phenomenal. Instead of shredded beef, they used juicy chunks of tender beef, with melted cheese, onion, pepper, and horseradish sauce all piled on top of a fresh, charred bun. This came with a choice of sides: potato salad, fruit salad, French fries, or their classic onion rings. The service here is always top notch. Some of my old classmates from elementary school still live in the area and work at the Inn, and it's fun to check in and see how everyone is doing. I'm not one to leave a review, however I felt it was necessary based on the way the manager treated myself and my husband this past Saturday evening, September 12, 2006. We checked online to see if there were reservations and there were several but we wanted to sit outside so we decided to call to see if we could get outdoor seating. To our surprise, we were told yes and they made a reservation for us for 6:45. We waited outside for a few minutes at the podium and nobody came so we headed inside and there were a few customers ahead of us so we had a few minute wait. Two of the employees checked the computer and said they saw a reservation under my name for inside. I informed them that I had made the reservation for outside. That's when the manager came and took over. And when I say TOOK OVER, that's exactly what I mean!!! I have never been spoken to so rudely in an establishment in my life. She was dismissive, condescending, snooty, and frankly argumentative. She told me that she had over 100 reservations for that night, that they don't make reservations for outside, and basically intimated that we were lucky to be dining there. She said we could sit inside or wait and never even bother to apologize or tell us what the wait time was. She then proceeded to tell us she wasn't going to speak to us any longer because she had other people (one couple) waiting and we were holding up the check-in process. I asked how long the wait was and she said approximately 25 minutes and I told her that we would wait. The more I thought of it I really just couldn't get over the conversation and how a misunderstanding could go so wrong. I waited until there was nobody in the foyer and I went back to speak to her privately. I calmly vented my concerns to her about our encounter. I told her that I was not upset that the outdoor seating was not available however what I was upset about was the way she handled it. I told her she never bothered to even apologize and say she was sorry for the misunderstanding and that she would get us seated as quickly as possible. She interrupted me and told me she was not going to apologize for something she did not do!! I reminded her that as the manager it is her responsibility to take accountability for mistakes made by the staff that she's managing and of course, she disagreed. Again, the conversation did not go well. I told her that we would not wait. I was so put off by the interaction that I contemplated leaving a review. One of the first reviews that came up was from a patron who had almost an identical experience to me. I have to say seeing that review did make me feel a little bit better to know that I was not the issue and that the issue definitely lies with the way the staff is treating the clientele who are patronizing their restaurant. It seems like there is a common theme where even if the mistake is on them, their attitude is, we don't need your business so just don't come back!!! I feel that people need to know this. Again, I'm not one for writing a review, but in this case, if nothing changes, then nothing changes. The more people who share their experience the better it is for people who are thinking of frequent this establishment. Hopefully the right people see this and maybe some changes can be made. In my opinion a good first step would be mandatory classes in customer service relations for management. It is my hope that this review will be used for good weather that's for the owners and the management or for patrons who are planning on dining at the Tewksbury Inn. read more

Lovely little upscale restaurant in an old house. Very cozy autumn decor, romantic low lights. Our server was wonderful, she helped me choose my entree when I was torn between two. I ended up having the pork with brussel sprouts, savory bread pudding and maple glazed apples. Delicious and a good portion, which was needed because my husband got the fish and his was a much smaller portion. Luckily I had enough to share so he didn't leave hungry. Just be aware if you order a fish entree, it may be a smaller portion. Dessert was an apple crisp using apples from a local farmers market that we like to go to, so of course it was delightful. read more

Stick a fork in them. One of our favorite places has completely lost it. We've heard from others and we've started to notice ourselves. But tonight was different. I ordered the salmon entree tonight cooked medium. Or as, I said to our server, closer to medium rare just not "cat food". Sometimes mistakes happen and you might get it cooked a little too much. Yes - that happened. But the real issue is the piece of fish was the sad, pathetic, flat tail. Which good restaurants NEVER give to their patrons. And it was crusty and super overcooked. It should have been thrown out - never should have left the kitchen. I told her I don't want it and I don't need it replaced. The server was great and tried her best. The Inn retains its charm. The wait staff is professional. The menu has remained unchanged. We ordered the wedge salad which was thoroughly enjoyed, as was the calamari, butter poached lobster and the Caesar salad as appetizers. For entrees, the grilled pork chop, bistro chicken and the special fried duck legs were all perfectly seasoned and prepared. The Martis Cabernet was from a vineyard that we had visited and was a delicious accompaniment. To all of the diners' surprise, however, the tuna entree was almost inedible. First of all, the quality of the tuna was poor. Second of all, the tuna was dry as if under a heat lamp for an unacceptable amount of time and the accompanying mashed potatoes had become soupy. I would have sent it back, but did not want to disrupt the enjoyable experience of our guests. We will return ,as the Tewksbury Inn is our local treasure. read more

My wife and I came here for our (un)lucky 13th anniversary. It was very busy so a reservation is definitely advised. We both started off with the French onion soup. For an entree, my wife chose the parsley crusted cod. It was very light. The crust added some nice texture to the dish. I went with the 15oz ribeye cooked medium rare. It was very juicy, requiring little work with a steak knife. The Parmesan crusted potatoes were excellent. For dessert, we split the apple crisp. The restaurant is very old, with hardwood floors and exposed bean ceilings. Cellular coverage is almost nonexistent inside but they do provide guest WiFi. read more

We Had dinner there on Father's Day. They require appies and main course to be submitted at the same time. Personally I hate this policy. We ordered crabcakes and lobster appetizer as well as filet and bistro chicken for our main courses. Half way through our first course the waiter dropped off the main courses. All four dishes sat at the table. Crab Cakes were not lump and no different than you would get at a low end restaurant. The sauce on the poached lobster was good but lobster dry and over cooked. Once we started on main course the chicken was overcooked not hot and very dry. i never finished the meal. Filet was well cooked but cold by the time we ate. Spoke to a manager the day of and he told me it's easier for the kitchen when everything is ordered at the same time. Never apologized for the food. I reached out via email prior to this review and received no response. I've been coming her 15-20 yrs. Love the venue but doubt I will go back. Extremely disappointed!!!! used to be a town resident and moved to Langhorne PA, which is two hours away from where we used to live in Tewksbury New Jersey, the INN used to be our favorite eating place, we took our parents out on such a beautiful day, thinking we were going to be able to sit outside and enjoy a good lunch, only to find out after a 2 Hour Dr. that there was no outside eating, how in the world can you not serve people on such a beautiful day, the breeze was beautiful. The Guinness far too cold and the grilled chicken Caesar salad with about as much personality as a small soap dish. The croutons had more effervescence. Right out of the box. Boring. My burger was overly salty. Served with pre battered fries doused in cheap truffle oil. Really off putting. What are they covering up? We never were served water. And we waited a long time to give our order. About twenty minutes. That's far Too long at lunch. Was that a pickle spear? The coleslaw did taste like the fridge. Bad form. Have been here a great deal and used to enjoy it. Arrived at the almost empty restaurant for our reservation and kindly asked for a new table after being brought to a very undesirable one. Asserting that other tables were "reserved," the staff grudgingly offered us a table in the main area with the condition of vacating within an hour to an hour and a half, despite our reservation. This and the disingenuous claim on their Resy regarding the inability to honor seating requests, left a bitter taste of dishonesty and preferential treatment. Met some work colleagues here for a working supper. Making reservations was a breeze. Welcomed into the restaurant and had a wonderful seat by the window. What a lovely historical building and I really enjoyed seeing all the artwork. We ordered the a lobster as well as a stuffed dates (appetizer ). For entrees we got stuck and salmon. Everything was extremely flavorful and so fresh. And we were so excited to share our plates with each other. For dessert I ordered a warm pear cake that came with a side of vanilla ice cream . The place is really historic with colonial charm. We ate upstairs and I ordered a ribeye that said it came with mashed potatoes and asparagus. My wife and I split a wedge salad. The salad was perfect. My steak was overdone and strangely came on a plate with a salad instead of the mashed potatoes. They brought me a side of them but it was just strange. This quaint historic Inn nestled in middle of farms, makes you feel like you're in the late 1700s. A very warm and homey feeling, we were welcomed by the staff as soon as we entered. After living here for 3 years, this is our favorite restaurant in the area so far. The area is seriously lacking in good food so my expectations were low. However, I was pleasantly surprised by the food. The filet was our favorite dish. Decent size filet and the sauce was delicious . The grilled branzino was good, but missing something..maybe a sauce. It was a bit dry. Our least favorite was the cookie skillet (too dry not enough chew to the cookie and not enough ice cream). Also there is a quiet dining room and a tavern, bar style room. It was a busy night and a little louder in the bar room. If I had known I would of clarified seating preference in our resy, since it was our anniversary. We will be back! read more

No real rich flavor, bread had actual black burn marks, and the coleslaw they served was also dry & tasteless. 4-21-22 7pm reservations Glad I called and made reservations before coming here. Once we arrived and were seated every table was taken and on a Thursday evening. We started with cocktails they had a great menu selection. I chose a Mediterranean Mule that was made with fig vodka my nephew had the same. For the main course I had the cod which was delicious. It came in an unusual sauce and breadcrumb topping that was nice and not overpowering to the dish. For dessert my nephew had the peanut mousse that also had peanut brittle in it. His wife had the chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream. As for myself I had an expresso martini it was a first for me. But definitely not the last very similar in taste to a mudslide. My nephew and his wife live nearby and hadn't been here before. I wanted to take them someplace new. So glad it was enjoyed by all. Hopefully they will return again. read more
