I had an exceptional experience at Gladstone Market. I walked in for a quick lunch and had no idea that they had such a beautiful patio out the back. It was such a lovely surprise. We didn't realize we were supposed to wait to be seated, so in our excitement we grabbed food at the counter then brought it out back to the patio ourselves. When we realized our mistake, the server was so polite about it. It ended up being a hot day, and we had our baby, so the same server was again SO NICE about moving us to an indoor table, and even helped us carry our dishes. After all of the trouble we caused, our server ended giving us home fries on the house. I seriously can't imagine better service. We were really taken care of here. As for the food, I ordered a chicken wrap special. It was filled with chicken, broccolli, and rice, and was delicious. I was in the mood for something light and healthy, and this was it! read more

After some hiking at Schooley's Mountain, this cute little sandwich shop was just what we needed. They offer a fairly extensive menu , including pizza and sides along with chicken cutlets and hot sandwiches, but we settled on these two and we were NOT disappointed. My roll had the perfect amount of chew and totally filled me up. Generous amounts of meat and cheese. And the owner was just a really nice guy. My husband left his wallet inthe car and he told us "just pay after you eat", not the typical Jersey response, and I can say that being I'm born and bred here. If you're in the area, check it out. Great casual spot for pizza, Italian food and general lunch & dinner fare. We stopped by after a trip to Bluebird Farms Alpaca and the owners recommended Gladstone Market. Glad we did, the service was great, the food was even better and the atmosphere out back was relaxing and comfortable. Apparently Gladstone Tavern next door is just as good but with a bigger menu and not as casual as Market. We ordered several appetizers which were all good but didn't realize how amazing the bread they start you off with was, otherwise we prob would have scaled back on the apps. We were a group of 11 so the kids ate everything regardless. The starter bread with oil and garlic was out of this world, fresh, warm, little crisp on the top w/ soft fluffy in the middle. The back patio area overlooks a nice little creek and just creates a laid back, relaxing atmosphere that would be enjoyable on a date or as a family (all the above were present on a Saturday, 6pm). Split into two tables of 6 and the waitress (Emily I believe) did a great job of taking care of both tables plus the others she had. Prob room for approx 20-25 total on back patio and they have a small indoor dining area with multiple 2, 4 & 6 top tables. Apps, meatballs (huge, great flavor), fried calamari (good, nothing earth shattering) and garlic knots and moz sticks for kids (must have been good, lasted 2 mins). For the pizza, they were happy to make a gluten free from one of the kids and the rest of us shared large plain, large peperoni, large 1/2 plain, 1/2 onion (all 3 thin crust) and a large Sicilian peperoni & mushroom. All the pizzas were fantastic. The crust was crispy on all of them, including the thick Sicilian pie. Sauce was unique and delicious. We're usually thin crust pizza lovers but the star of the show was the Sicilian, thick crust yet light and fluffy but crisp bottom. One of the best Sicilians we've had. The service is bad. I placed an order for a penne vodka with breaded chicken and that is absolutely not what I got. When it was time for my break I opened the bag for my lunch and I did not have any fork or knife or even a napkin that isn't covered in grease from the bread they threw in the bag to use for my pasta with chicken that was given to me. So I could not even have my meal. Next time I'll just stick to going to the GLADSTONE DELI. The service over there is better. Highly DO NOT recommend. Very disappointing. POOR SERVICE! Love Gladstone Market! A real go to place to eat. Great food. Great service. Great country atmosphere. The best is when the weather is warm and you can sit on the patio out back by the river and enjoy wonderful meals including pizza and huge sloppy Joe's that are delicious! The hashbrowns were more like french fries (not a fan of deep fried items, particularly for breakfast). however the vegetables were fresh and well prepared. the bacon plentiful and eggs cooked perfectly. Service was on point. Place is very casual; not super fancy. However they have wifi (unlike Coco-luxe which is down the street). Their coffee is pretty good as well. read more

What a hidden gem. You would think from the outside it was just a deli/pizzeria but thats just the beginning. On the night that I was there the chef "G" had an incredible list of specials mostly italian recipes and they were all unique, like Oso Bucco, seafood fra diavalo over linguini, or stuffed artichokes. Incredible menu for such a small place. Lunch is equally well prepared and though I havent tried it yet, I hear the breakfast (pancakes) is especially delicious. The outdoor dining area is really nice as it has lots of tables that sit along a picture perfect trout stream. I hear they have live music in the summer months BYOB. This place has a great set up to eat outside in the back by the stream. Staff was friendly and attentive and they have a good size menu, mostly sandwiches hot or cold but a few Italian style dinner items as well. We started with the special salad of the day which was arugula with Asiago, red onion and 'charred tomatoes'. The salad was nice but the tomatoes were vine-ripe-raw not charred as the description claimed. I ordered a burger with fries with LTOP and cheddar and one friend order a burger with fries with LOP (no tomato) and provolone. They swapped the cheeses on the burgers but we are laid back people so we went with it. The burger patties however were two to a sandwich and they were very thin which caused them to be over cooked. I prefer my burgers medium-rare. I would have preferred one-thick patty as opposed to two-thin ones. The fries were on point though they get two thumbs up! Chicken cutlet sandwich was the winner of the night for sure. It is definitely a good place to go for Casual meal or take out. Skip the burger and get chicken cutlet and be aware they don't sell alcohol. read more

It is a small local business with a surprising amount of seating for the storefront presence it has on the street. This spot is a family favorite for us. We love the history of the building. Food is consistently great. Portions are HUGE. Staff is friendly, and always willing to change up things for my picky eater. They have rolled with the challenges of Covid, and are taking the challenges successfully. Reasonably priced, delicious breakfast and lunch options with huge portions, spacious and clean dining area and friendly staff. I came here with a group of three people and ordered a whole chicken parmigiana sandwich ($13) and the turkey reuben ($9.50) with fries from the lunch special. Honestly, you can split half a sandwich with two people. We ended up taking the other half sandwich to go and ate it later that night. See pictures for reference, they're huge, bigger than the size of your head. Besides the massive size, it was delicious. They loaded up the sandwich with chicken, a generous amount of tomato sauce and ooey-gooey cheese. The turkey reuben was on point as well. It came with turkey, melted swiss cheese, sauerkraut and Russian dressing on grilled rye bread. I think they added some cabbages in there as well, which added some texture to it. It wasn't overly salty and went perfectly well with the fries. Talking about their fries, I don't know how they fry it but it had the right amount of crunch on the outside and were cut just the way I like it. Feel free to ask for ketchup and tabasco, whatever floats your boat. We ended up getting some hot coffee after, which was made fresh in the pot. You have to go on the side across from the register to make it yourself, which I always prefer to do anyway. Can't rave enough about this place. They have an extensive menu and if you're indecisive like I am, you'll probably scan through it more than a few times. But trust me, you can't go wrong with their sandwich options. Both chicken parmigiana and the turkey reuben sandwiches were amazing and I'd order them again. Lastly, there's parking across the street so no need to stress for a spot. I may be partial to this spot only because it has become a regular place for us to grab lunch or dinner with the kids. We always dine in and have not yet eaten outside in the back by the creek that runs behind it. There is definitely a good rate of turnover server wise, but they all seem to be good enough to make the experience enjoyable. It's not big inside, but we usually manage to get the bigger high top table we aim for. The portion size for pasta dishes is definitely hearty. They are accommodating and will serve a "kid size" portion for less and even that is generous. Their fries are crispy and tasty, better than what you might expect. New and improved Gladstone Market in town is quickly becoming a favorite! They serve mainly Italian food and pizza, etc... Everything we have tried is good. Eggplant Parm is a favorite order of ours here. Big salads, even if you order a "small". Bread is fresh from the oven and the dipping oil on the side is great with it. The pizza is OK, I think Dom's has a little bit of an edge here still. Have not tried breakfast yet, but looking forward to. Won't hesitate to come back again, great to have another good dining option in town. read more

The Gladstone Market has reopened and is fantastic! The atmosphere is so warm, comfortable, and inviting. It is a great place to go with your family for a pizza or pasta dinner. Last time I was in I had talapia which was delicious! And the prices are very reasonable. They even have gluten-free pizza and pasta. We are there at least once a week. read more

Went to Gladstone Market yesterday on a recommendation. My friend and I ordered soup and cheeseburgers. The bun when i picked it up was ice cold as was the dried out hockey puck they called a hamburger. The cheese was not even melted. We had our sub par soup which was mostly broth lacking chicken vegetables and pasta. We each took one bite of our hamburger and couldn't eat another bite. When the waiter came over we mentioned to him the cold uneatable hamburger and his response was "Well how was the soup' offering no solution to the the cold dried out hamburger. Our bill came to $ 42.00 with an $8.00 tip. In hindsight I wish I would have insisted he take those hockey pucks off the bill . I know restaurants are hurting but so are your customers. We are all suffering from this inflation. I would have loved a a nice juicy hamburger (I ordered mine rare which was impossible because of the thickness of their hamburger). with a warm toasty bun with melted cheese. how hard would that be especially for $42.00 That was my first and last time for this so called restaurant. read more
