We had a waitress that was rushed and inattentive. Four of us. 630 reservations. We were seated immediately. I had requested indoor. (When we arrived we were told if it was an outdoor table, there would be a 45-50 min wait!!) Ordered apps, salad and entrees. We all had the same pasta as an app. Filleto de Pomadoro. (Sp?). Pasta was undercooked and there were really no pieces of the prosciutto? Or what they use in this dish. The Caesar salad was delicious, even if I only got 1 crouton! Lol. . Then they cleared the table and brought us dessert menus. We told them we hadn't had our entrees yet. We waited probably 45 mins for our dinner. Veal and Sole, delicious. The fourth dish, the Bronzino fish special, black. Top was burned black, and the fish was totally dried out. $42.50. Small piece. We asked the waitress and she said that's how it's supposed to look. What? At this point we'd been at the table 2.5 hrs. They comped dessert, mine was the wrong one. Not what I ordered. And lastly, every time they brought a dish to person on my right, the waitress leaned halfway across my plate, almost hitting me with elbow. I finally just pushed my chair all the way back when I saw her coming. We've come here before and had no complaints. Tonight was not good. And I believe totally the waitresses fault. Never apologized or told us what was happening. She needs to be trained. (We visit the Martinsville Tavern) your sister restaurant as well. read more

We've been going to this restaurant for many years! The food and service always impeccable!

I thought this place was great. The parking lot is small for sure and the inside of the restaurant is small but it is quaint and cozy. We ordered appetizers of burrata and eggplant and the main dishes were rigatoni with pink sauce and peas and risotto. The food was great and the portions weren't too large. This place is also BYOB which we did not know when we got here so don't make that mistake! We also got tartufo and the lemon sorbet which comes in a real lemon!! read more

I'll give this place 3.5 A group of us girls sat outside on the patio and was the nicest ambiance and roomy. The apps were great, not pictured; Eggplant Rollatini, sweet & spicy calamari & burrata special. When it came to the dinner, they had a parpadelle pasta on special but with seafood. I asked if they can do a simple parpadelle bolognese, they said yes. A few mins later he says they ran out of the pasta. I thought odd but ordered the egg fettuccine. I was very underwhelmed by the taste of their jarred meat sauce. That's just my opinion. However, it's a byo and a nice patio, as well as my friends did enjoy their dishes so I will definitely go back and try again. read more

We traveled 50 minutes to dine here for the first time with another couple and upon being seating outdoors, we were rushed to order our meals and when asked for more time we were given less than a minute to make a decision. We needed to ask multiple times for water to be refilled. Our wine bucket was shared with another table so I never found it till it was time to go home. I will say the food was delicious but the service was disappointing and we honestly felt rushed as if this was a 90 minute sitting and the bill came without asking if there was anything else needed and we couldn't even finish our wine and had to wait to get corks for our wines. I shared my comments with the hostess so that they can get extra help with outdoor dining and improve their service. read more

Spectacular experience!!! A friend suggested we go there for dinner and the experience was definitely 5 stars beginning to end. Reservation was made and we were seated right the way , appetizers, food and dessert were excellent , I had the pan seared salmon . Service is on point and very attentive. It is BYOB so make sure you bring you wine. But just in case there's a liquor store right down the street . The vibe is great and they also have adorable outdoor tables and a very cute decor . We had the best experience here. They weren't even open and fully set up and insisted it was no problem and we could still eat here. The wait staff were so friendly and kind to my 2 toddlers. Our food was fresh, delicious and out quickly. We really had a great late lunch here and highly recommend it. Went last night with another couple. First of all they have a beautiful outdoor dining area. Service was great and attentive. Both couples started with their shrimp and chopped tomato salad, a special, and it was delicious. For mains my wife had the salmon and loved it. Her friend had the branzino and said it was excellent. My buddy had the chicken Giovanni and said it too was very good. I had the risotto pescatore with shrimp, scallops, clams and calamari- so good and the rice and seafood were cooked to perfection. I shared a tartufo with my wife and our friend shared apple pie with ice cream. Both great. Honestly it was a perfect night and a perfect dinner. Bennie the owner checked in with us several times . We were visiting friends in the area and we all decided to try Cafe Azzurro again, as we thought the meal we had last time was quite good, and wanted to give it another try. I'm sorry to say it will probably be our last. This time, the food was again good, but going out to dinner isn't just about the food. Its about enjoying the experience, getting away from the stress, and while Cafe Azzurro is a lovely setting with nice decor, and white tablecloths, it unfortunately misses the mark for making dining there a nice experience where customers feel welcome. Before we even sat down, and while we were taking our coats off, we were asked if we had wine that we'd like served. That should have been a clue, because the rest of our meal was followed by constant interruption by various servers asking if we'd like more wine, or needed anything else. We barely had 5 minutes without an interruption to our conversation. We felt that we were being rushed from the minute we entered, and encouraged to eat and drink our wine quickly, in anticipation of the arrival of future guest reservations. Perhaps it was just an overzealous, uncoordinated group of servers who were trying to provide excellent service, but sadly it came off as everyone trying to rush us, and rudely interrupting us when we had a few minutes to talk among the 4 of us. Nice place, good food, but not worth the trip in the cold of winter to feel rushed from the moment we entered. read more

I think Yelp has this restaurant about right at 3.5 stars. I was in between but the service was really very good. Very welcoming, caring people put their passion into making you feel comfortable. For veal Arruzzo, shrimp on veal, I always order a menu item with the name in the dish. Maybe that tactic wasn't the best choice here. The food is 'good' and the dining room is lovely. The redone wide tiles and heaters made the alfresco experience all the more special. The food is not bad. But they always overbook. The past two times we waited almost an hour before we were seated even though we had a reservation. When I asked the (young) hostess what the point of a reservation was, she replied flippantly 'everybody has a reservation'. We literally witnessed a couple walk in off the street and be given a table before our foursome did. Once you're seated the food is slow to come out. No surprises there. What an excellent dinner! Family gathering of almost 20 plus a fairly busy restaurant and yet the service and food was superior. Wonderful appetizers- eggplant rollatini was delicious and shrimp coconut divine. While our group had many different main dishes we were all very happy. I ordered the seafood ravioli. I was shocked at first bite - it tasted like a big piece of liverwurst. I spit it out. The side order of spaghetti tasted like it was left out of for days - it was stiff. The eggplant parmigiano was mushy, thin and tasteless. It is unfathomable that a so called chef made this food. We haven't eaten here for a long time but friends wanted to celebrate a birthday, so four of us dined Saturday 20th. We had a 730pm reservation (made by our friends) and we were expecting to sit outside. Upon our arrival, the chirpy hostess informed us that w'd have to wait 45-50 minutes for a table "al fresco". There was already a big crowd milling around outside (and drinking the wine they'd clearly brought for the dinner) so we grudgingly took the offer of a table inside. The wait looked like more than 50 minutes to me. I seem to remember this "game" from prior visits...what's the point of making a reservation if it can't be honored ? The lame excuse was that people were hogging their tables and not leaving when anticipated. (BTW..it seems that Kathy C on here got the same treatment and I'm sure many other diners do too.) We were seated next to a serving station. Not a big deal, but not ideal either. Water arrived quickly, then nothing happened for fifteen minutes and then a waiter arrived to take our order...but we didn't have menus...duh ! The food was good and the main course plates were hot (a pet peeve of mine if they're cold). One of our friends was served a small plastic wrapper on her dinner plate and she almost swallowed it. The owner (or someone) did make amends on the bill, after I pointed out the unwelcome dinner ingredient. A lot of our local "Italian" restaurants seem to be owned/run by Albanians...we have nothing against Albania or its expats, but this lackadaisical/tardy service has been experienced at other "Italian" BYOB's in our area. One exception is Il Monello (also BYOB), just down the road from Azzura...always great and prompt service and the food is just as good. It's probably not as "popular" as Azzura, but we don't consider ourselves to be sheep, so we're happy with a quieter (but still bustling) ambiance. The moral of this story...don't expect to be seated at Azzura anywhere close to "on time" if you're planning to treat yourselves to the al fresco dining experience....this goes for weekdays also, during the summer. read more
