We had 7:30 reservations, seated at 8:15, party of 2. A party of 3 came in at 8 and were immediately seated! while we waited another 15 min. Asked to speak to the manager and after a while the young hostess told me she was the manager...She was not. Ordered Burrata and tomato, both COLD right out of the refrigerator, everyone knows they are to be served room temperature so could barely taste what is supposed to be an excellent fresh appetizer. My signature pasta dish was excellent, my friend ordered eggplant rollatini and was up all night with food poisoning! We have been to this neighborhood jewel and it has always been a go-to whether for date night or for a girls' night out, so we decided to book the large dining room for our daughter's bridal shower. George was so professional and paid close attention to every detail of our event. The room was set up as we wanted it; we had ample time to add our own decorations and the wait staff were plentiful and responsive. The food was AMAZING, and we were offered a great menu. It was not rushed and we were able to socialize and interact with some bridal shower games/events. It was absolutely perfect! We had family and friends from far and wide and were so happy that a lot of attendees commented on the venue and the food, many saying we set the bar for bridal showers, which was very nice. I went here yesterday for lunch with family for Mother's Day (a day late to avoid crowds) and the lunch was delicious! I had the chicken francaise and then tartufo and a latte for dessert. The servers were very attentive and the seating area outside was beautiful and relaxing. We were blessed with great weather, luckily. The meal was slightly less expensive than I thought it would be, as well. I definitely want to come back soon. read more

Came here on the recommendation of a collogue that knew the managers. Like many places they don't have a liquor license and hence you have to visit the liquor store next door. Actually it works out better as the wine is cheaper and better. I had the calamari which was very tender and clearly fresh. Went on the to the house special chicken which was also very good. Went on to the souffle which was molten and wonderful. Its a good choice in a otherwise sleeply town. read more

Went here for the first time in about 3 years, I wish I had come sooner. Food was fabulous from appetizers to dessert. Everyone had a different dinner and everyone were super happy with their selection. The waiter and busboy were attentive to us we were a table of 5. One of the 5 has a gluten issue, and it was accommodated. Food was excellent, but service was atrocious. Had a reservation and still waited almost an hour to be seated. Hostess apologized, but no one else acknowledged the delay. No signs of a manager. The owners of the ex-Fratelli's Restaruante in Bridgewater have made a great transition to Cafe Azzurro in Peapack. This is only our second visit over the few years they have been in operation but we have tried at least a few times to get a last minute reservation and were out of luck in the process. The warmth of service is wonderful and the food is excellent. I had the Spinach Salad to start and a Red Snapper special for the entree. Not having been here but twice (with a long time in between to boot) I wonder if the specials change as much as they did at Fratelli's -- for if they do you will probably never need to order off of the regular menu on any of your visits! Bottom line -- a great place to try but do make a reservation in advance if at all possible and if the temperature is right eating outside is wonderful as I still remember that from our first visit a couple of years ago. read more

Cafe Azzuro hosted my daughter's bridal shower over the weekend for 30 or so women and did a spectacular job. George, Nick and the entire team was such a pleasure to deal with. The service was so attentive and gracious, food was fabulous, reasonably priced, and everyone said their meal, up to and including the Tiramisu dessert, was delicious. From the very beginning, in the planning stages, until the last guest had left, they made the experience just terrific. I think this is my second or third review of Azzurro. My wife and I live in the Lehigh Valley in Pennsylvania and drive 42 miles to Peapack at least twice a month (although this week we were there twice) to dine at the best Mediterranean/Italian restaurant in N.J. We have several Mediterranean/Italian favorite restaurants in N.J. All run by Albanians. However, Azzurro is just a touch above the others. The quality of food is outstanding (Rigatoni Azzurro and Eggplant Parmigiana are standouts) with all entrees cooked to order (pasta true al'dente). Prices are very reasonable with excellent desserts priced at $7. The servers are total professionals and attentive. The restaurant is roomy, clean and have nice paintings on the wall. And to top it off, it's BYOB. We just love the place. We have not met the owner but have repeatedly pleaded with the servers to tell the owner to open a restaurant in the Lehigh Valley or at least closer to Pennsylvania. Bob and Linda read more

My family and I have been here numerous times. Food is great, however, on 2/10/24 Saturday my husband and I went here for an early Valentine's dinner because during the week our schedules are super busy. We had reservations but as soon as we sat down menus were given to us even before our wine bottle was opened. We hadn't really had a chance to sip our first glass of wine that we were asked about ordering. We ordered appetizers and less than 10 minutes were asked about dinner order. As soon as our appetizer dishes were removed dinner arrived. Dessert was also rushed . We never even finished our wine bottle, we were so rushed it was difficult to enjoy the date. We had been looking forward to it for weeks only to be rushed through it. It's not cheap to eat here I just wish we would have had more time to spend enjoying our dinner and time together. read more

I cannot in good conscience give even 1 star except you have to or you cannot leave a review. We arrived on time for a 7:15 reservation and was shocked that people were standing outside in 26 degrees. I went to checkin and there were people standing all over the place (there is no place to wait). I asked if they were honoring their reservations and was told that the first seating needed to leave before they could seat us. It was Valentines Day so I get the busy restaurant but people were not leaving. After waiting approximately 40 minutes we were seated. The gentleman who brought us to our table asked if we had wine (did not) and offered water. He disappeared after that. After approximately 15-20 minutes another couple was seated next to us. They appeared to be regulars as they knew the person who seated us by name. He brought a bread basket and an accompanying oil to them and return with their wine. At this point we were starving and nobody returned to take our order. I noticed that everyone had bread on their tables so I asked another person who was working g the area for bread. He left and returned empty handed. I guess if you do not drink wine they don't feel the need to checkin because we were ignored. The table next to us had already had their order taken by the same guy but again we were ignored. I then asked him for bread (15min after the first request) and he told me wait, that it was coming. Mind you this is not freshly baked bread and bakery bought. About 10 minutes later another person who was also working the room came to take our order. The wait staff do not have assigned tables and just roam. After giving our order I asked again for bread because it was close to 9 pm and he brought it. Nobody ever refilled our water or seemed to care that those around us who came in after us were getting their food. It took approximately 30 minutes to get our appetizer and salad but at that point we were so disgusted at the total lack of service we didn't even want our dinner. Our food eventually came well after tables who were seated after us and we were disappointed. We both ordered Risotto and it was so loose with so much sauce it was like eating thick rice soup. I have never eaten risotto that was soup. Eventually the person who sat us and ignored us came over and apologized for the wait but we couldn't get out of there fast enough. We should have been acknowledged about the delay instead of looking at us or walking by our table without even a refill of water. To the owners, STOP TAKING RESERVATIONS WHEN YOU KNOW YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO HONOR THEM IN A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME. It's not fair to your customers, waitstaff and chefs. I have a feeling that this is the norm here but fortunately there are other great Italian restaurants a short walk away that do appreciate their customers and respect their staff. read more

I was not happy with the quality of food and service tonight (6.21.2021) for our 9th Wedding Anniversary. What made it more disappointing was the fact that we had our wedding dinner reception here back in 2012 and have been coming to the restaurant since even prior to then. We (4 of us) arrived slightly after 7pm and were seated in the back of the restaurant. The restaurant was unusually busy for a Monday evening. After several minutes we ordered appetizers while we analyzed dinner options from the menu. That was approximately 7:25pm. It easily took almost 50 minutes for the appetizers to come out. During that time, we also had to request the breadbasket (normally brought out without the need for inquiry). The sweet and spicy calamari was excellent and plentiful. The eggplant rollatini was excellent but an extremely small portion. Ditto the coconut shrimp. I don't recall the portions ever being this stingy. The buffalo mozzarella was excellent. It took 1-hour later for us to receive our entrees. The chicken francaise was extremely dry (overcooked?). The rack of lamb was very good, but the risotto portion once again was extremely small. The veal Milanese was excellent and a nice portion. My rib eye was grizzly and overcooked (well done instead of medium well). No staff member even attempted to come by after a few minutes to see if the meal was acceptable, very strange for a quality restaurant. Attempts to discuss my disappointment with various staff members fell on deaf ears, other than the usual "dessert is on us" routine which by that time it was almost 9:30pm. Too little too late. I don't post restaurant reviews but tonight my 30,000 social media followers will be seeing this. We were looking forward to this evening for some time as our daughters are home for the summer from college as nights like these for the entire family are few and far between. We will be taking our hard-earned dollars elsewhere going forward as that are tons of better options in the Basking Ridge area, and we will have to reflect upon 2012 for good memories of Café Azzurro (food and service) that obviously can't be replicated in 2021. read more

And during covid even more charming with fire pits and heaters for those chilly nights The menu is vast but there's not an item I wouldn't enjoy! My son just got engaged this past week and we decided to take him and his fiancee to dinner in order to celebrate the occasion. Knowing this restaurant would require a reservation , I called way in advance and requested a nice table and set the time for our arrival. When we arrived , on time, we were told our table was not available and we were seated in the doorway to wait. We sat for over 30 minutes, and finally walked out. No one spoke to us , no one apologized , no one said a thing. This is not the kind of customer service we are accustomed to and we were greeted with open arms down the street and had a delicious dinner with no wait and no reservations. The restaurant was packed for a weekday night. My husband ordered pasta fagioli soup for appetizer. My son had the beef carpaccio. My order of the pear walnut baby greens was good. The entrees we ordered were Saltinbocca Veal and Chicken Saltinbocca. The entrees included a smattering of vegetables, mashed potatoes and meat. All was delicious and hot.
