The food is good. Pretty quality but the portions are extremely tiny. So if you like paying 35 dollars for an entree that is equivalent in size to eating a handful of potato chips...then enjoy. The issue with this place is the service and reservations. You can have a reservation for 7:30 and you're not getting seated until 8-8:15. But it doesn't stop there. They over seat to the point where it takes over an hour to get your food. Went two times in the last few months and we hand timed how long it took. Over an hour both times. Waiters are nowhere to be seen...but this is the fault of the manager who would rather overseat to make more money than actually tend to his customers. The experience was as bad as it could get and when we asked the manager how ridiculous the service and overseating was...his response was "what am I supposed to do?" Well...when a table of 5 or 6 is paying a few hundred dollars for a "nice" dinner...maybe you shouldn't overbook your restaurant to your chefs are behind and waiters cannot operate efficiently. Here's the deal...this quaint BYOB on Main Street is a winner!! On a great weather night the ambiance of the outdoor patio setting was very nice! I thought our service was really attentive & friendly! The food was very good the app winners were the Burrata & Eggplant Rolatin!!! For Entrée I had the Halibut which was served with mussels & sautéed vegetables I thought it was a little salty, but overall delicious! Others raved about the Bronzino as well!! This used to be one of my top choices, a place I went to at least a couple of times a year. However, when our group of 6 went a couple of months ago during Covid, it was NOT very enjoyable. The walk to the bathroom was terrible, we were packed in like sardines under wedding tents and the food was not up to snuff. My wife and I got one of our normal veal dishes and it had no flavor, the sauce was like water and they charged us $14 for an appetizer that can barely accommodate 2 people. The noise in the back inside the tents along the wood line was also overbearing. Gave you a feeling like you were at a large crowded wedding. Maybe it's the pandemic or maybe the quality has gone down, hard to say. But this particular experience was not good. That's as honest as it gets folks. read more

Last night's meal confirmed what we'd experienced a month ago....that is the restaurant has slipped. Last night we were seated promptly but after that things turned south. Although our waiter was very pleasant he was almost a bother in getting us to order while we weren't ready. My first course was just ok....my calamari was ordinary and nothing special. Then we sat there with all the dishes in front of us for much too long. We also had to ask several times for him to pour wine (which was in a cooler across the room). My main course was another disappointment. The veal dish again was ordinary and the serving quite skimpy...two small and very thin pieces of meat. The also small portion of mashed potatoes and veggies had obviously been sitting around for a while. Bottom line we won't be back for quite a while....there are so many better restaurants to choose from. read more

Took my mother in law here for a surprise birthday dinner with 14 members of our family. My wife and I called the restaurant 6 weeks ago to make a reservation for 14 for the time frame of 5pm--8pm as we were catching up, drinking wine, and enjoying each other's company. The food and ambience were fantastic. However, the staff was pushy when it came to ordering, consistently asking "are you ready yet?", and then came around at 7pm to drop the check. I told the server "we will be a bit since we reserved this table until 8pm."He responded with, "That is not possible. Look at the line of people," and pointed toward the line by the host stand. They were clearing water glasses and were giving us the eyes to leave which made us feel rushed. Dining at an Italian establishment should evoke a sense of leisure and fellowship with family. However, the staff was more concerned with covering more heads that night. It was unfortunate being that our bill was well over $1,300. Overall, had a great time but I would not book large parties here unless you're in for a quick meal and then out. read more

In the Peapack/Bernardsville/Menham area, there's tons of great restaurants. This isn't one of them. I've driven past this place hundreds of times, seeing nothing but fancy cars packed out front and people looking like they're having the times of their lives. On Saturday, we decided to give this place a go and called for a reservation. To our surprise, we were able to land one. We arrived on time, but were told it would be quite some time before the table was open. Surprisingly, another table in a different part of the restaurant opened and we were able to be seated. During the wait, I couldn't help but notice the speed in which bus boys and waiters were moving. It almost made me uncomfortable to watch them literally run from table to table. As we were escorted to our table, a bus boy ran past, bumping into me and never said a word. Once seated, our waiter arrived instantly and without a welcoming or asking for drinks, he prompted us for our order. "A few minutes, please," was our response, to which he quickly ran to another table. The waiter did return in a timely manner and took our order. The best part about the experience was that the food came out quickly and it was good. During our stay, our waiter never returned once to check on us. In fact, the only time he did come back was to place the check on the table. We were never asked if our food was good or if we needed more drinks/anything. After returning with the credit card, our table was being cleared and prepared for the next setting while we were still sitting. I felt extremely rushed. All in all, the service is what gets this place 1-star. It was rude and unsettling. A lesson to the owners. Never replace quality with quantity. read more

BURNT by the BURNT HOSTESS!! We arrived 5 minutes early for our 6:30 (outdoor) reservation, and were brought to a small table too small for 2 and not suitable for 3. We opted to wait for another table in 10-15 minutes since it was such a perfect evening. In 15 - 20 minutes we were brought to a larger table, but some discussion between young hostess and with apologies, we were turned around and ushered back out front, told another table would be ready shortly, so another 15 minutes we were told our table was now ready (ahhhh) but another session of whispers from the sun burnt hostess who then seated a late, large family of personal friends at our table and we decided, let's get a table inside. We sat for another 15 minutes for total of an hour before we even got menus. And to think we cancelled a 90 Acres reservation to eat here!! DUMB. After nearly 45 minutes of a needless delay without any apology, we were committed to get our meals. An hour in to this epic meal and water glasses remained empty, they did not tend to us at all. Are we invisible? I bashfully had to walk up to the cash register to get someone's attention to get water a menu and attention and I know it sounds like we are A Holes but we actually are patient and not in a rush at all - - but being ignored and passed over like unwanted guests was unsettling while the sun burnt hostess fawned over her friends and the table staff sweated and harried themselves all over the busy floor of the patio outside while too few tried to keep up with a full inside dining room... George, your service was so bad, we asked for 1 entree (veal milanese) to be packed to go for one of our guests, and it never made it back to us, and frankly no one cares. We found the experience to be foul, lacking in hospitality, graciousness, stinking of ignorant irresponsibility as result of 2 immature, hostess disregarding reservations and I hold George the manager accountable for putting this burden on these inexperienced, inept ladies - - horrible, stay away at all costs! Not impressed with this place. I've been here several times. The food is good, but the vegetarian options are very limited. The real problem came with this evening's experience. We arrived for a 6:00 reservation and had a fine meal. We were prompt to order and prompt to pay. However, by 8:00 we started getting pushed out. First by coming over and turning out our candle and collecting glasses. Then coming over a couple minutes later to take our wine glasses, then a couple minutes later and sending the hostess, then a couple minutes later our waiter is telling us the need the table now. If I was looking to get turned in and out of a revolving door restaurant, I'd go to Applebee's and spend a half to a third of the price. I expect better out of a place working in this caliber of a restaurant. I'm done with this place. I'd say based on the reviews, this CERTAINLY isn't an isolated incident. Expect an overbooked reservation calendar and either a wait for your table or someone trying to bully you to leave your table. I'd say I won't be recommending this place, but I'll go further than that and be sure to actively recommend people to avoid this place. If I could give 0 stars I would. Had a 730 reservation and after waiting 55 MINUTES, we finally walked out. The staff was NOT friendly and NOT helpful. We were not the only ones with a 730 reso waiting for that length of time either! They obviously overbooked themselves but the hostesses' snooty attitude did not help the situation. It's one thing to wait if there's a bar, but at a BYOB place where you're standing in a crowded hallway holding your bottles of wine... Ridiculous! We will absolutely not be back. read more

Luckily, the instant mashed potatoes and saturated vegetables acted as a paste to keep my teeth from falling out. The seafood special did not include any pasta or sides. An assorted batch of crustaceans swimming in pool of watery "tomato" broth. Our experience ended with a more-than-well-done creme brûlée that left a far-from-pleasant charred aftertaste, and a drier-than-dirt cheesecake. At least the coffee was hot. Throughout the evening we were looked after by three waiters. This may sound nice, until you are repeating for the third time "no, I am STILL not ready to order. Our first visit to this busy restaurant on a Friday night. We had a reservation (recommended) and had a request for al fresco when we arrived. The hostess, Rona, was great: very welcoming and accommodated us graciously to an outside table soon after our request. Very nice ambiance, food was above very good. Wait staff was very attentive, prompt, and pleasant, if only a little hard to understand at times. We had the chicken parm which as excellent, just the right portion with a small side of pasta; and a pasta pomodoro with a very rich red sauce. Reception excellent. We had asked for an outdoor table but changed our minds because of the heat at 8pm. Entrance welcoming and immaculate. Tables nicely set. Service excellent. We at carpaccio and shrimp salad, both to our delight. We then had lamb served on a milanese (yellow) risotto. Marvelous and cooked to our specifications. Nick organized our service and found us the table. He also helped out getting some wine because I had not realized that the restaurant was BYOB. I was denied access with my service dog. I was told I could have a nice table outside, alone, and in the frigid cold. I am fortunate that my service needs are not severe at this moment, and am openly welcome in restaurants in the area, and throughout the country. Very cute ambiance. Walked in and they were very pleasant. Young girl asked to hang my coat, I think part of the family that owns the place. The bread was good as was the olive oil dip. Quiet place. BYO so it makes it cheaper I had the cheese ravioli in the cream sauce. BF had the chicken Marsala. They came it in about five minutes. Both very hot and fresh. My ravioli weren't like the normal ones you see. Different shape. Almost more like a pocket square. It was really good. Bf Marsala was a bit lemony but he really liked it and the vegetables were good. They were small portions but perfect bc they were both very heavy. We got the tiramisu for dessert which came out about one minute after we ordered it. Top five best tiramisus I've ever had and the first one my bf ever had and he loved it. It was really good. Almost wish they took a little longer so we could have enjoyed the restaurant more. We were done eating by 630, dessert by 650. When we were talking out it seemed like there were a lot of people waiting. We didn't feel rushed though. I would give this place a 3.5. read more

NOT A GOOD NIGHT- Having been to this restaurant before, we made a reservation for dinner following my daughter's graduation. There were a couple pluses (+) and several not to good things (-l + we were seated promptly - had to ask twice for a glass of ice - had to ask three times for bread + food was excellent - having we orderee dessert, they served more bread, that was not asked for - while waiting for dessert, we were given bill and wished a good night - they were gone for a really long time with me credit card. No servers were around, so i used my call phone to call the restaurant to tell them we needed our check The owner of this restaurant recently opened another place in Martinsville. Have been there twice and refuse to go back because of service. Hope he has not taken on too much trying to run two places. Will try Cafe Azzurro again- in hopes this was just an off night for the staff. read more
