Feels like light on the stomach, being gluten free was also a plus!!! I had the famous Ricotta and Berry toast and my sister had the Grilled shrimp bowl we also ordered Buffalo Parm garlic wings which was to die for!! Their lattes are also amazing and flavorful. Our server, Maggie was very attentive. She sees to it that we get what we need. She makes us feel at home. Wish this place was bigger because a lot of people are willing to wait hours in line! We will definitely be back to try other food menu they have!!

Today we lucked into a table for a late Valentine's Day lunch! Definitely a cute and modern cafe with comfortable seating. Waitress and the rest of the staff were excellent. They had a nice selection of specials on top of a solid menu. We started with the Garlic Parmesan wings, they were tremendous! They were crisp and juicy and loaded up with delicious toppings! My wife enjoyed an Asian noodle salad. I loved the poached egg dish that featured Hollandaise, smoked salmon, and was served on a Portuguese muffin. Really nicely prepared! Unsweetened tea was also good. We look forward to returning!

To be fair, all she orders is the chicken salad sandwich and she has order nothing else. Today, that changed as we ordered the Apple Cranberry Crisp à la mode along with her Chicken Salad sandwich and that dessert was delicious! It wasn't too sweet and it had me thinking "what kind of apples do they use for this?" It even got reactions from everyone who dined nearby us in the restaurant. So the ambiance was very friendly as while it appeared like they were regulars, they were not because they've never seen the Apple Cranberry Crisp in person. We took our four month old infant and the place was accommodating to that as well. The decor was very traditional but very clean, like you were in the dining room of the golden age of your grandma's house (I hope that makes sense like it does for me). Anyway, I had the NJ Sloppy Joe and that was also delicious - especially with the sweet potato salad that came with it. I also had the cappuccino and the affogato because I had no coffee yet by this point of the day and I had to double down on my espresso intake lol. The Rolling Pin looks like it's been around for the past 75 years and I hope it sticks around for ever. Please give this place a try if you're nearby looking for lunch. You won't forget it!

No frills, simple menu and the chef seemed exacting and totally focused on his craft. I ordered the original shoyu ramen with chasu and red spicy sauce, while wife had the Wafu Shoyu ramen with chicken. Mine was robust and had a clean taste, although I felt the broth was a bit light for my taste compared to some NYC joints. Wife's ramen had even more watery broth - I think because she ordered the "wafu" broth style which menu claimed had no meat, and together with lean chicken meat without much fat, we both agreed it was tad bit boring. I think it's a matter of chef's philosophy and not necessarily a bad thing, but I preferred a bit richer, more viscous broth than this one. We would stop by again if we're in the area, but won't go out of our way for it either. Still, a welcome addition to the East Bergen County area!

Order at the kiosk, expect to wait (and join the wait list), and hope that a seat in their 9 seat counter or four top opens up - it turns over quicker than you think. The staff of two or three are kind and efficient. I absolutely loved the miso - only offered on Wednesdays and Sundays.

It was busy and with outdoor seating, people had a long wait just to sit down. It's a small place so in a weekend be prepared to wait a long time! The food was good. I gave it 3 stars because the lady (I guess she was the manager rudely told us to leave as there are people waiting to sit down. She could have spoken to us differently and we had just finished eating. Especially since she made us wait close to an hour for our food, she could've been nicer. The wait staff was pilot and pleasant. But she wasn't. Unless you're willing to wait and wait and have the manager tell you to leave rudely, I would go somewhere else or go on a weekday. I will not be back. I've been treated better at a fast food joint.

I was amazed when I found this little hole-in-the-wall gem in one of my old haunts, Closter. I decided to give it a try. I got two bowls of the beef combo Pho, a single order of the regular beef Pho, the Spicy Ma Mi banh mi sandwich, and a Vietnamese Iced Coffee. These items are the easiest to judge, as most of the Vietnamese restaurants around Bergen County and the surrounding area kind of fail, choosing to cater to the population (skimping on spice, choosing western ingredients over authentic Asian ingredients, etc.). When I picked up my call-in order, the woman at the counter was very nice, though not Vietnamese and neither was the cook (not a problem at all, just an observation). She handed my order and I paid with a nice tip. I made it almost half way home when I got a call from the restaurant, and the same person told me she forgot to hand me the Vietnamese Iced Coffee and apologized. I made a u-turn and drove back to Ma Mi Eatery and picked up my drink. None of this exchange knocks any points against them, in fact, I was happy they called me. When I got home and unpacked everything, it all looked pretty authentic. I started with the combo beef Pho, adding all the toppings, plus the condiments of Hoisin sauce and Sriracha. What was missing was the fresh Thai basil! Then I read the menu and saw that they put the basil IN the soup when they serve it, so when I got home, all the basil was wilted. That's a shame because every single AAA Pho restaurant in Westminster, California serves their Pho with fresh Thai basil so customers can control how much basil they want, and to prevent wilting. That is my only real critique. Otherwise, the Pho was delicious, the broth was flavorful, and the really LOADED the soup with beef. Seriously, a lot of places in Westminster aren't that generous with brisket, but Ma Mi made my day. The Spicy Ma Mi banh mi sandwich was delicious, and loaded with all the appropriate toppings and condiments, though I wish they packed the wet ingredients (pickled carrot and daikon, cilantro, jalapeño) so the bread wouldn't get soggy, which it did, slightly. The bread itself was not the best bread I've had, typically, the bread used in most Vietnamese sandwich shops have a flaky crust and airy soft bread inside. This one a bit coarse on the crust with a heavy crunch. The interior was okay though. All in all, it was a great effort. The next time I revisit my hometown, I'll be sure to stop by Ma Mi Eatery for sure.
