The food was decent. The soup dumplings were not as soupy as some of the other places we've been to, but the flavor was nice. We also got the peanut noodles which were okay - could have been a bit more peanut-y. Overall an okay experience except the waitress definitely wrote down our order wrong for chicken soup dumplings and tried to tell us we ordered it wrong. She even showed us the notepad she wrote for us and it said chicken soup dumplings and still told us we ordered it wrong. Ultimately she corrected the order but continued to try to tell us the regular chicken dumplings are good and we should try it. Ok so here is another situation where I am torn. On one hand I want places like Dumpling House to exist in Rockland County, but on the other hand the food just isn't very good. It's ok at best. Ironically the most authentic and probably best thing on the menu is the jellyfish, and I don't exactly see the people of New City lining up for jellyfish appetizers anytime soon. The rest of the menu ranges from mediocre to straight up bad. First off, $16+ for 8 dumplings is insane. The best spots in Fort Lee and Chinatown charge literally half that, and they actually make the dumplings in house. Secondly, the dumplings themselves just are not good. The texture is off like they were frozen, and the filling is bland and underwhelming. If you have the time and means, drive 25 minutes down the Palisades and go to Soup Dumpling Plus or a little further to AJ Shanghai. Both completely blow this place away. If not, give Dumpling House a shot, but understand what you are signing up for. Rockland County already has limited options for legitimately good Asian food, and the Cho Cho San empire is not helping. It's giving people who don't know any better a watered down imitation of what this food is actually supposed to taste like. read more

But that's where it ended. place just opened so i'll try to be nice . pork soup dumplings was ok. wrap was gummy and thick. broth and pork was good , chicken steamed dumplings were ok. wrapper was tender. chicken was as plain not much else in it i ordered General Taos. chicken was super tough and over cooked. sauce was really good and spicy. The General Tso's chicken -- the "pizza" of Chinese restaurants -- was chewy, rubbery, and flavorless. Also, I picked up my order from the restaurant and got all the way home before realizing that they gave me spicy green beans instead of the chicken. When I called they said no driver was available and that I had to come back to the restaurant WITH the beans, to show that's what I got in error -- even though they apologized and said the chicken is right there on the counter. I really enjoyed everything I had here, there were a couple notes I have but overall great experience! The peanut butter noodles were SO GOOD. Such an amazing savory sauce that could've actually had a little bit more peanut butter flavor but I also really liked the flavor it ended up being. The beef soup dumplings were SO flavorful. Even more flavorful than some of the pork soup dumplings I've had. My only gripe was that the dumpling dough itself was definitely thicker than most, its whats inside that counts, right? I also really liked the drink I got and loved that it had chunks of fruit in the bottom. Lovely fruity flavor. The servers were also all really nice, just unfortunately the place was very small and VERY busy both in the eat-in area and for takeout/delivery orders. There were people waiting for their online orders for a long time and it definitely impacted the wait for our food, so I would rethink going during peak times when you're in a rush but if you're chilling and don't worry about that, it's fine! They just need more kitchen staff probably. They're also only in their first year being open so hopefully they learn as they go! read more

Food is very very very flavorful! Finally a dumpling place that gets it right. The pork soup dumplings are some of the best I have had! (I've been eating soup dumplings in flushing China town since 2008) The jelly fish salad is soooo crunchy and yummy. The staff are very friendly and fast. I always wish a new restaurant the best and I understand that there is an acclimation period so, let me go through the dishes we ordered for take out: Pork Soup Dumplings: Very good soup dumplings. Dough was a little stiff, but I am OK with that. Shrimp dumplings: Decent with whole pieces of shrimp. Roast Pork Belly Buns: So this is not a true pork bun like Mei Lai Wah in NYC, a soft bun with BBQ filling. It is a Boa Bun folded over a piece of pork. Worth the $12.00 for two? Unfortunately no. Peanut Butter Noodles: This is where it all fell apart. I really had high hopes, as I love Thai and Szechuan won tons and noodles, but no. Noodles congealed in its container with no flavor. I have had better sesame flavored cup o' noodles purchased from the Ocean Lot stores. It was really bad. Then waited about an hour before we got our entrees. The owner and one of the servers were very nice and empathetic apologizing for the wait. For clarity there's seating for about 20 people. Wanted to try the new Asian Restaurant, Dumpling House in New City, Sister to ChoChoSan in Nanuet. ChoChoSan has always been good, I felt The Dumpling House would be. It did not disappoint. We ordered to go, the soup dumplings, shrimp dumplings and the Won Ton noodle soup. The soup was big enough for 2 people. Delicious, and I am very picky when it comes to WonTons . Dumplings were great as well. The owner was lovely, gave us explanations of the different items on the menu. Looking forward to trying different dishes. The restaurant itself is cozy, clean, and well appointed. The food is packed in a reusable insulated bag- a really nice touch. Give it a try.
