Interesting and unique menu! My family loves this restaurant. Try the buns! They are excellent.

Walking into Grub, I had a good feeling and I wasn't disappointed. If you're looking to share small eclectic bites, you'll find plenty to like. This Asian fusion spot in a nondescript plaza has a large menu with a lot of small plates/street food, baos (with varying fillings), tacos/quesadillas/tostadas, curry, traditional Asian dishes, poutine, burgers, noodles like pad thai and plenty of veg-friendly items. We most enjoyed the chicken empanadas (generous filling, good flavor), cod tacos, and vegetarian spring rolls. The tofu lettuce wrap didn't have a strong flavor even though it seemed to have a lot of sauce. The beef Jerky (a bit tough and chewy) and vegetarian dumplings were okay, but not favorite items. We didn't order any items that were larger portion and it's very easy to rack up the bill with $9-12 small bites. Inside, you could forget that you're in suburbia because this place is pretty trendy. There's artwork and words on the wall and the menu tries to be clever (succeeds in some ways but not necessarily to grammar snobs). There's a 3% surcharge for credit card purchases. We had a very pleasant Friday dinner at Grub. The server was very friendly and helpful with the ordering. We ordered the softshell crab, portobello bulgoggi and chicken lettuce wraps for appetizers. The portobello bulgoggi was my favorite of the 3. The softshell crab was good, but it was a bit heavy with the batter and I couldn't taste much crab. For the main meal, our group ordered the chicken Roti, coconut garlic rice with both chicken and duck, and a garlic ramen. The coconut garlic rice was very nice, but the duck while tasty, was battered and fried. All the dishes were good but all the dishes were heavily seasoned and a bit heavy. Next time, I would lighten up the meal with a salad. Interesting menu and worth a try. read more

It's been a while since I've been to Grub. I was worried when I saw a new, bigger menu but everything we had was delicious. The Grub Buns are my favorite and the reason I keep going there. My BF fell in love with the chicken wonton soup (even got an order to go). My only critique is that the meat in the empanadas could've been chopped smaller as a lot came out in one bite. This was my family and I first visit. However, will say we will return again! Service 5 stars, food was exceptional. The Thai tea was really good! We tried the Drunken noodles, ramen garlic noodles, and I had the pad Thai with beef as protein. The menu is quite extensive with a variety of options to choose from. As of Saturday, horrible jarring and drilling construction noise. The staff tried apologizing- " boss is in charge ". As for the boss, she is a really nice person, BUT Today my green curry with chicken was 75% potatoes, not chicken. And I don't like to pay $18 for curried potatoes. The place is in a great location. Peaceful and quiet just how I like it. I will say the service was great had fantastic suggestions when asked. Tried the Curried Chicken empanadas as an appetizer. It was crowded and they were BUSY on a working Wednesday. I guess the food being this good, it would be a destination! Grub by Chef Waree is a gem. We had the Stewed Beef soup with rice noodles. Umami was off the charts with the soup. That meant that each slurp of perfectly cooked noodle was nicely coated with enough tasty broth not to need anything else. What was important to me was the great blend of textures with Gailan nicely chopped and perfectly cooked, fresh bean sprouts, and the rice noodles and tender, tasty beef chunks. The Phad Thai with Crispy Duck was well flavored and nicely spicy for "medium". The phat thai was generously sauced without drowning in sauce. Great service and a welcoming atmosphere. read more

We got here at 5pm on a Saturday night so it hadn't gotten crazy yet. We'd tried to come months ago, but the wait was going to be an hour, so we left (they do take reservations for 3+ diners). We started with steamed shrimp dumplings. Very nice. And then we split Roti Chicken Canai (mild and tasty) and Red Curry Shrimp (medium hot, so be sure to check if the hot level is okay for you!) Lots of variety and so much to choose from. We ordered a variety of drinks + 14 dishes, and most of them we loved. We loved the red curry with crispy cod and the the mussels. The garlic wings and lettuce wraps were also delicious. Save room for the mango sticky rice and mango cheesecake. Place is small and not made for crowds. So parties of 4 or less do better here. We had an awesome server that was super helpful and he was patient. We will be back to try more dishes...just not the Laksa Soup Noodles. We tried the duck and shrimp version of this. If you like a sweet broth this might work for you though. Our lychee cocktail and iced tea was so yummy! One of the two fresh coconuts tasted like it was old and fermented. I can't say enough good things about Grub. I'm a vegetarian who loves Thai food, and this cozy restaurant, with new extra-comfortable chairs and a new expanded extension (a lovely alcove with a Thailand inspired mural) provides a soothing and elevated setting for enjoying Thai and Asian fusion dishes prepared by a dedicated crew. Owner and head-chef, Waree D., is an engaging and pleasant person, and also a highly skilled professional who makes curries from scratch, (just ask your server which ones are completely vegetarian) and uses fresh, natural ingredients in all of her creations. It is no secret to my family and friends that this is my favorite restaurant in the area. (My second favorite is Aegean in Park Ridge, NJ. Third favorite? There is none.) I'm very particular about good food. My regular orders whenever I visit the area are the green and red curries with fried tofu, coconut rice, papaya salad (be sure to ask for no fish sauce if you are vegetarian), vegetable dumplings, and the sticky rice mango dessert. Haven't been here since they moved. Seems they left there flavor and took the old oil from last place. Really disappointed with everything. Oil seemed old you can taste it in everything they fried. Chicken was dried out and over fried. Empanadas over fried with same shitty oil. The curried chicken one was good filling but the same over fried dough . Tried the vegetable dumpling and all it had was potato mushy filling. Weird. Ordered chicken pad Thai. Was hard to find the chicken. Way too sweet dry with no spice. Coconut garlic rice was good but usually it's long grain rice. Chicken with it over fried and dry. Had the grub beef bun. It was flavorful but the beef dried out too. I don't think we would have survived the pandemic without Grub. We got takeout from here about once a week for at least 6-8 months. We actually had to take a little bit of a break. But we are back now. I haven't had anything that isn't good. Our favorites are the Korean BBQ beef buns, veggie spring rolls, drunken lo-mein noodles, Panang curry, Nasi goreng, and Tom yum soup. We love the new location. It's very modern, bright, and spacious. My only criticism is that the protein in the noodles can sometimes be a little meager. Doesn't keep us away, though. read more

Normally that would be expensive given the portion but I'd seriously go back and order more because it was that good. 5/5 The laksa mee kari was mouthwatering. The curry soup was sweet. Flavorful but not a strong curry. Consistency is just right. There's a bit of bean sprouts. Not only that but they give you plenty of curry soup! You also get 1 egg. A pretty small place with a lot of parking. You can tell the interior was recently redone. It almost has that fresh paint smell. Very hip and modern decor. The servers are pretty young but very nice. I was very impressed with the food. I did not expect it to be that good. The stewed beef noodle soup was slamming.
