What a treat to get great Thai food outside of NYC. All the dishes were as good as you can get from NYC. And reasonably priced too. Service was excellent. Decor is cute, with lots of Thai art and artifacts. All the furnishings are old, but it all lends to an authentic atmosphere. The bathroom was dated but very clean. It's hard to come across true family owned restaurants in busy metropolitan areas but this one turned out to be a hidden gem. We were recommended to visit this place by a few locals in the area and thank goodness we didn't take their words for granted. The establishment is located on a busy street with plenty of other spots to choose from but if you're looking for authentic Thai food, look no further. For starters, they offer a vegetarian menu with plenty of tofu dishes. Each item offers a picture and accurate description. The prices are very fair and every member of their staff smiles, providing you with ample time to make a selection. Apparently local yoga sessions are actually hosted inside the restaurant itself - and at one point during our meal, a few patrons asked the owner what time and date the sessions take place. The family must also close the restaurant once a year during the Thai New Year so that they can all travel to their homeland. The inside is not extremely packed and the walls make you feel like you're eating in someone's actual home. Had another fabulous lunch there.. Started out with Mee Grob as an appetizer. It was really crunchy and delicious with the tangy, tamarind sauce. As an entrée, I ordered the seafood delight and my friend ordered the pad Kee Mao. The seafood was extremely fresh and the vegetables were crisp and perfect. We were seated right away (this was 1pm late lunch) and greeted with a smile by Pom. Pom and her sisters run this family restaurant which has very homey touches in their decoration. Pom was very kind the entire time and ambiance is dark, not noisy, and comfortable. We ordered the duck pad Thai and duck drunken noodles and they were delicious! My wife had a fine cosmopolitan while I enjoyed a Lao dark beer - something different! Terrific soups and Thai-style empanadas- such much flavor! Then our entrees: shrimp mango red curry and chicken pad Thai. OMG! Pad Thai can be a bit Ho-him, but not this dish! So flavorful with very high quality ingredients. I am a big fan of Thai food and am pretty discerning with my tastes when it comes to Thai. This establishment has been here in Nyack since the 1980's. The owner is terrific! We stopped in here and were seated promptly. We tried a variety of different dishes from Pad Thai, Pad See Yu, Kanom Jeeb (dumplings) and chicken satay. All of the dishes were great. The pancake duck was fabulous. If you haven't tried duck, you have to try this one! Complement your meal with a Thai Iced Tea. This is an embarrassment for Thai food. I ordered Thai fried rice with shrimp and they gave me leftover rice, which was coagulated with four pieces of shrimp for $17. It did not taste like Thai food at all. It was made with soy sauce and rice and four pieces of shrimp never will go back over there again. read more

I only saw one person working the entire time I was there. I feel like she's plays the role of hostess, waitress, and chef. I ordered the karee (curry) puffs as an appetizer. They were very hot and flaky, without being too greasy. They had a potato filling that was more sweet than spicy. For my entree, I had the Ped Choo Chee, half of a duck served flambe in a coconut curry sauce. The presentation was awesome. The flames were extinguished from the sizzling plate using the coconut curry sauce. The duck was deboned very well, which is great since dealing with bones are the worst part about ordering duck. I recently visited a college friend in her hometown of Spring Valley. While there I wanted her to show me some of the local restaurants she goes to. King and I is a local restaurant that her and her parents have frequented over the years. I love Asian cuisines so I was very excited to have a nice Sunday dinner here! I started with the Goong Krabog (shrimp, ground chicken and coriander wrapped in spring roll paper, served with Thai sweet and spicy dipping sauce). I appreciated how hot and fresh they were. The spring rolls were fried to crispy perfection and the shrimp on the inside was deliciously tender. However, I didn't really pick up the taste of chicken. These were a lovely ease into the entire meal. For our entrees, I ordered the Seafood Delight which included sautéed shrimp, sea scallops, lobster meat, and squid served with mixed vegetables in a chili paste sauce and white rice. My friend who is a vegetarian that is transitioning into a vegan, ordered the Gang Dang Tao Hoo (tofu, bamboo shoots, peas, carrots, eggplants, and basil in a coconut-red curry sauce) from the vegetarian menu. The Seafood Delight was even more delicious than the Goong Krabog. The pieces of seafood were large, tender, and fresh. The chili sauce had just the right amount of heat and flavor. My one caveat is that I needed more rice to soak up the delicious sauce. I also appreciate their extensive vegetarian menu. Although times are changing, finding true vegetarian options at standard restaurants can be a hassle. My friend enjoyed her entree except for the pieces of eggplant; she mentioned that the eggplant was slightly undercooked but, everything else was delicious. Started with shrimp and pork wantons with sweet and sour sauce so light and chopped up perfectly to fit wonton.also ordered Thai style chicken and potato empanadas that were hand made and very light and flavorful. Tried the duck wraps wow so tasty and fresh with herbs and salad. For main I had to try the shrimp Pad Thai can't go to a Thai restaurant and not order that. It had a lot of aromatics without being to heavy and overpowering. Not over sauced knock u over head kind. Wife ordered the chicken drunken noodles she loved how the chicken was grilled not just thrown in. Nice wide noodles that were not over cooked mush like most places. This cute restaurant sits in the heart of Main Street. It's usually not busy during lunch time, so feel free walk in. Pam the hostess and waitress is simply amazing. She welcomes you with the biggest smile and very friendly. Lunch special includes a drink, an appetizer and an entree for $10. There are varieties on menu. The drunken noodles is slightly sweet but good. They add raw beets, carrots and cabbage, which is different but works well together. The other dish which starts with k (forgot the name) was good too. Onions, peppers and carrots with brown rice. The spring roll was crispy and tasty. The salad had peanut dressing was was simply delicious, I wanted to pick the plate afterwards. This is probably the worst Thai food I've had. I always get a pad Thai when I go to new Thai restaurants because if you can't get that right then the rest is probably not good. The pad Thai was bland and not spicy which I asked for. The satay was bland and the chicken was dry. The kao pad was not flavorful either. Thai has so many spices and flavors how can you make all of this bland. Very disappointed being that this place has good ratings. Go to the Thai place in orangeburg that is way more authentic. I'm pissed I just spend 33$ on this crap. Updated I just called the restaurant and told them that my chicken tastes sour and rancid. She was very rude and said I don't think you're right, everyone here eats everything. I said ok but my food doesn't take good at all. I told her I eat a lot of Thai food and this is not good at all. Wow, talk about a blast from the past, this restaurant is decorated to the nines in the vein of late 70s early 80s elegance (think Thai version of the decor in Goodfellas circa after Henry gets out of jail and starts selling coke). My expectations of my meal were on the low side due to my initial impression of the decor being outdated, but boy was I wrong. I had shrimp pad thai, which is my least favorite Thai dish, but it's my safety dish in restaurants I'm suspicious of. I'm so glad I ordered it, because this was the best pad thai I've had in a restaurant. Ever. The portion was great, not too small and not too large. The noodles were very delicate and not over cooked, and the accompaniments (crushed peanuts, egg, spring onion, cilantro, bean sprouts, and carrots) were served in perfect ratios to the noodles and shrimp. As I ate my lunch the décor grew on me and I left the restaurant thinking two faux stone pillars displaying flake floral arrangements in a bathroom is totally normal and tasteful. Anything that says spicy is not very spicy at all (this coming from someone who doesn't handle too much spice). Everything is too sweet, except for the Thai ice tea. That wasn't very sweet, and could stand to have a little more milk. The stars were not owned for the food, it is for the ambiance. It is such a nice looking place, with charming utensils, nice decor, pretty plates... I even liked the umbrella in the straw of my drink! If the food was better, I would give them more stars, but as it is, it is an average Thai place for white people who like bland food to eat. read more
