Dropped in for a quick breakfast and coffee. Walked in mid-morning and and missed the morning rush. The place is a nice Deli / Bistro style shop, fully stocked, and was clean. The staff was friendly and provided fast service. Greatly appreciated the staff making a fresh pot of coffee...because no one like old stale java with that burnt taste! The fresh pot of coffee was ready by the time the BEC sandwich was done. They made it well and was able to take it (not just all bread like other places). Although I just had the breakfast, they also have a lunch menu with plenty of soup options. Definitely a good place if you are looking for a soup & a sandwich. I will stop by again, when I'm in the area. read more

Small soup shop with different soup specials every day. The service was nice and fast. You can also try the soup before ordering. I ended up getting the chicken sandwich with cheddar. It was fresh but so dry. Thank God I got some condiments. The price is very expensive as well. read more

Had stopped In to see when they would have Italian wedding soup, it was not one of the soups for that day, but they went above and beyond and made a pint for me. read more

My wife and I stopped here for lunch after visiting RMA. We bought 2 sandwiches, 2 containers of soup, and 2 sodas. The total was either right under or right over $50. I wouldn't mind paying that much if what we had was worth it. The tomato soup and the turkey chili didn't have a lot of flavor. The sandwiches were delicious. I would like to try it again, but we were only passing through the area so I don't know how that would come about. read more

Great soup and sandwiches for a quick meal! Good variety and value. Would have returned but were closed Saturday.

Always good quality food and friendly staff! Food is fresh and made well. They make dinners as well that you can reheat and they are delicious read more

Wow! The service was exceptional! My husband and I were driving through and stopped by for a quick snack. I got the black and blue panini and he ordered the club. We also got a sample of their potato salad. All of it was delicious! I got a yogurt to go and was very impressed!!! read more

How do people hate this place? The soup is phenomenal, the owners are VERY nice and we always have conversations. I love everything about it from the soup to the lighting. read more

I've given this place a few chances because I really wanted to love it - but each time I am more disappointed than the last. This afternoon I got a pint of soup, a roll, and a banana for $8.75 (without tax). The soup was supposed to be a bisque but it had a terrible watery consistency and lacked any flavor. And even though I was dining in, the soup was served in a cheap plastic takeout container. It made me wish I had driven down the road and gotten Panera soup instead. The only good thing about this place is the staff. They are all friendly and helpful so I gave two pity stars. read more

The soup was very good the one I had . Only giving this place 3 stars because the owners were arguing with the chef and the doors open , I heard the whole argument. So unprofessional. So many people also walked in and out as soon as they heard the arguing . read more

Amazing food, even the plain roll that was given with the soup was incredible. At first I had a bit of sticker shock, but after eating it was worth every penny. The Italian Wedding, Tomato Basil and Creamy chicken potato soups were excellent as was the chicken salad sandwich. The only issue was my problem, not theirs. Our daughter is allergic to celery and it was in everything but I didn't ask so that's on me, not them. Very impress, we are already planning another visit. read more

1. No chicken in chicken noodle soup 2. Their sandwiches have changed. You can tell they rushed to make them (premade) with rock hard bread. 3. Website says they deliver but they don't read more

Never disappoints. Their soups, sandwiches, and salads are consistently good. The service is even better. The owners are super nice and hospitable. A bit pricey, but you get your money's worth. read more

Due to limited lunch spots in the area this soup shop often gets mentioned in my office, not to mention that our in house cafeteria is filthy and unflavorful. This leaves people scrambling for options, myself included. This place is not worth it. It seems that recently they've upped their prices and a soup for lunch with a roll and banana now costs $7 instead of $6. Not a huge deal on it's own until you evaluate the actual food. With fall rolling in soup sounded great today and as I opened my chicken noodle soup all I could see were these extra large noodles in my broth. Using my small plastic spoon they gave me I could barely fit one noodle onto the spoon which made for a sloppy lunch. The real gripe was the chicken noodle part. How can you charge $7 for a small bowl of soup and literally have only three tiny cubes of chicken in the soup? The chicken didn't even seem fresh and was like the diced portion of the sides of a chicken cutlet. I got upcharged for broth that didn't even taste like chicken, lacked salt and flavor, and left me with more noodles then I knew what to do with. The pictures speak to this. Wait, isn't chicken noodle soup supposed to have vegetables too? I think I remembered seeing one soaked piece of celery but that was about it. Bare bones soup and this was during the first lunch shifts! I've experienced this place every few months, I think I forget how much of a rip off it is and then I try again. I need to stop getting desperate for food and keep some instant noodles at work instead, they're about as filling as these soups. Not worth it at all. I was left hungry and scrounging for snacks an hour later because it just wasn't filling. A big disappointment and shame on them for raising prices and cutting ingredients down! Don't waste your lunch on this. read more

Delicious chicken entree! Egg battered with organic rice and summer veggies! I highly recommend the soup shop

Got a Rueben Sandwich with a bag out chips for $12 today. The sandwich was made from slimy old processed deli corned beef. The bread was standard rye but had gone soggy from sitting a while. They toasted it but there was no rescuing it. Why can't they make the sandwiches to order? Especially for the price they charge. Too expensive and not great food... read more

The Soup Shoppe offers six fresh soups, a daily hot entree, some salads and a bunch of sandwiches. They get you the food pretty darn quickly. Very busy at lunch time. One option is a $7 combo of soup, roll and fruit (apple, banana, orange). I got a potato-spinach soup that was hot, pleasant and not overly salty plus a side salad which was very fresh and had tomato, cucumber etc. My unindicted co-conspirators said their chili and their sandwiches were good but the bread was nothing to write home about. Friendly staff, the counter people try to answer questions and the checkout lady calls everyone "Hon." But there are plenty of problems. Chili is listed as "market price", as if it were wild-caught salmon, strange. There's no board that lists the daily soups and no signs on pots either, so almost every customer asks the same question, what soups do you have today? Sandwiches are all pre-made and in plastic boxes in the cooler. It's fast but I don't think you can get a customized version. There is a soup and half sandwich option, which they accomplish by taking half a sandwich out of one of the boxes in the front cooler. There is no soup-and-salad special, just buy each separately. And the pricing seems a bit high. Water is $1.75 for large and $1.95 for huge bottles. Lots of overpriced sweets at the register. Saw the (large) owner but he didn't live up the bad rep given by other Yelpers :) Dining room seats about 30 people but the tables are right at the door and it has no double-door system, which makes for a chilly lunch in the winter. read more

Second visit, ordered to go and followed the "order by 11am for fast pick up" as directed on website. Uh, no this isn't real. The guy who took the order wrote it on a box and then freaking forgot! So no fast pick up here. Keep in mind when you order in the restaurant there is no real line so customers are already edgy because you got make sure no one cuts you so we thought we were ahead of the game. Nope. No apology either. Just "oh, well". The next thing cemented our work squad never coming back here again. Someone packing up one of our lunches must have had a sweater on (we hope!) that shed everywhere because little black hairs were visible on the inside lid of the soup and all over the tape on her sandwich. Another reviewer said how are they still in business and after this lunch, I wholeheartedly agree. We will not be back. It feels like they were doing us a favor instead of being the customer. We love going to family owned establishments but it's places like this that make you stick to a chain because then at least you get consistent service with some semblance of order. I loved my sandwich, no hairs, so I gave two stars. Too bad they are so disorganized and jaded with being owners. read more

Best place for lunch around the area! Fresh and delicious food and great service. Healthy options and little indulgences too.

For many reasons this year we decided to "cater" part of Thanksgiving. Turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy and Apple Pie. All of the other fixings were "home made." SOUP SHOPPE OUTDID THEMSELVES - EVERYTHING WAS PERFECT! Ending up not eating the Apple Pie until Saturday night at a friends. Hands down everyone said it was the best Apple Pie they have ever eating. Soup Shoppe - Their every day chicken noodle soup! - Soup Near Me - Basking Ridge, New Jersey

This is typically a lively bistro-cafe which sadly is deserted like every other eatery in the area. I saw an Instagram post that they're open for take out. Yeah one of the best soup places around is open! They actually have a dinner special in addition to a variety of (limited) menu offerings. For $50 they will provide a full meal for a family of 4. Kick in an extra $5 and its dinner for 5. Left overs for lunch, anyone? So I called in my order and arranged to pick it up. Everything was ready upon arrival but wow oh wow wasn't expecting what they handed over to me. (Darn I wish I had taken a picture so you all could be jealous! Next time!) We received - a very large tray of (very tender) chicken parmesan, accompanied by a generous portion of 4-cheese pasta. 2- 12 inch Italian breads. A large Ceasar salad with dressing. Cupcakes. And a quart of their chicken noodle soup which is one of my favorites. My family gobbled it up and just kept smacking their lips. I could show you the crumbs but it won't do it justice. Apparently the menu changes daily so this is going to be a weekly treat to myself for the foreseeable future since these days I feel like a line chef! Until next time.....and I'll try to remember to post pictures. Just dont hate me bc my dinner is better than your's. read more

Today I stopped in and got the chicken parmigiana with side of penne pasta and it was by far the best chicken parm I have had around this area ! Even the bread that came with it was great. I will definitely be back hoping they serve that often ! read more

I wish I could give this place a higher rating, but given the specific things I've tried, this falls squarely into the "Meh. I've experienced better." category. I came here with a co-worker on two separate occasions, and on both occasions, I was somewhat disappointed. Soup Shoppe has a good variety of items - pre-made salads and sandwiches that look fresh and tasty, and several hot lunch options. The staff here are also really friendly. That said, the food itself - at least what I've had - was not great, especially given the prices they charge. I tried the chili - which I was expecting to knock my socks off. The overall flavor and veggie to meat ratio and flavor was generally okay, but for the fact that it was wayyyy too salty. I also tried one of the hot lunch options a few days after which was a baked penne pasta with tomato sauce and cheese. Pasta was generally okay other than the fact that the food again seemed overloaded with salt. I think Soup Shoppe has the potential to do a lot better. In my book, it would merit at least 3 stars if everything wasn't so overwhelmingly salty. read more

I heard so many good reviews on this place. My kids were not feeling well so I stopped in to find what I hoped would be a family-owned vibe. The soup was good, not amazing. Variety was good. However, it was the way that the owner treated their employees, which really turned me off. I wanted a feel good, family, lovingly made food and I walked out feeling worse than I did walking in. If I could have returned my food I would have. Please be better and treat your employees well. They help keep you in business. read more

The food is here is very good. The black and white cookie was the best I've ever had. I had the minestrone soup and it was delicious. The ordering system is really odd here. When I asked for a half sandy I had to get a pre-packaged one for an exterior case and give it to the guy behind the counter. He then took the half out and gave me the remainder. By the time I got to the counter they still had grab the food I ordered. Food is great. Just wished there was better order at this place and the sandwiches were made fresh in front of me. read more

Food is mediocre at best and it is very pricey for what you get. Furthermore if you pay by credit card they tack on a fee without notifying you! A service charge for using your credit card is against the law, and they don't even bother to notify you that you will be charged if you do not meet their minimum. read more

This place is just ok in my book. I went here religiously for a while then discovered some other places nearby. I'm not a big soup guy, so maybe my review is misplaced as I have never gotten soup here. The good: -They almost always have a delicious hot sandwich special. -Their other sandwiches are pretty good -Nice make your own salad situation with fresh ingredients -Friendly service (the lady at the register uses terms of endearment for all customers) The bad: -Pretty overpriced ($12 for a sandwich, chips, and a drink) -Confusing line situation inside -Except for specials, sandwiches are pre-made and packaged in a refrigerated display case -$15 minimum on credit card purchases. They aren't crazy strict, but I am guilted every time I don't have cash with a stink eye. You're a sandwich place...the majority of your customers do not spend more than $15. BTW, credit card minimums are illegal. -The macaroni salad...woof -The lady at the register uses terms of endearment for all customers (depends on my mood). Ooh, I'm such a bitch. read more

Wardorf Chicken Salad sandwich - so good! Soups - healthier ones are not that great but the unhealthy creamy ones are soooo goood!!! Highly recommend for lunch location. Parking lot is always full so its hard to come here during peak times, I eat lunch after 1/2 PM sometimes so it works out for me. All meals come with either extra bread (very nice) or a fruit (apple or banana) read more

I have come here a couple times because it is walking distance from my office. I have tried the soup and veggie wrap. The food is decent, nothing special. I like that everything tastes fresh but the flavor is lacking. I would have given it a higher rating if it weren't for the face that a veggie wrap and Snapple costs 12.50... it wasn't a large loaded wrap either. The prices are too high for the quality of the food. Also, the card minimum is inconvenient. Overall, nice shop with a personal feel but I'm better off going to panera to get my money's worth. read more

What a great place to stop for lunch! Great options for food and soup, and wonderful service from the moment you step across the threshold of the front door! It was alright... I had a soup there and also a bagel to go, the price was a bit high for being in NJ for such a simple thing.

Pleasant greeting by Hispanic man setting up soup, lady with teal shirt today serving the soup didn't give warm reception like the owner at the cash register. Nice selection of soups, ordered the Angus chili. Nice chunks of onions and peppers, minimal meat and a bit soupy. It comes with bread and a banana probably to help justify the $7.11 price tag for a pint of soup. Not the best or worst chili I've ever had, comparable to the quality of owners cuisine. Used this place as a rest stop on my way to PA. Kudos for owner for being the face of the business and warmly greeting customers. read more
