Pleasant greeting by Hispanic man setting up soup, lady with teal shirt today serving the soup didn't give warm reception like the owner at the cash register. Nice selection of soups, ordered the Angus chili. Nice chunks of onions and peppers, minimal meat and a bit soupy. It comes with bread and a banana probably to help justify the $7.11 price tag for a pint of soup. Not the best or worst chili I've ever had, comparable to the quality of owners cuisine. Waking in we got a great reception from the owner. As we decided on what we wanted, we saw a few regulars come in and be greeted by name. That is always a sign of a good eatery. Being able to sample the soups was a catch 22 because they were all great tasting. My sons settled on the steak sandwich which they shares because they were a nice size. I have the ham sandwich which was great and my wife enjoyed the soup. We will definitely go again when we visit. read more

Meh, this place is just okay. I stopped here back in February for a quick lunch and I really wasn't impressed. The sandwich I had was decent, but not amazing; it had good flavor, but was a bit pricey and small. My co-workers enjoyed their soup, but I didn't have any, so I can't comment on that. I came here with my husband for the first time a week ago and we had a great experience. The staff was helpful and kind. I am a vegan so finding things I can eat in this area is very hard, but they had several options and many non vegan options for my husband. We both got soups and they were very tasty. I love the turkey chili soup and the veggie bisque and angus beef chili. Sandwiches are excellent. Disappointed with the chicken noodle soup. $13 for the larger size. Two little pieces of chicken at the bottom. One little piece of carrot in the entire quart. I think there was Way too much white pepper. It was burning my mouth. Threw it away. And the broth was flavorless. Maybe they added water to it??? Just was so disappointing. It tasted like noodles in hot water with pepper. No problems with my sandwich. Just a problem with the price. $12 for a sandwich and a small slice of cake? Quality and taste not substantially better than Panera and you get a smaller portion. They (obviously) have other items such as soup and featured platters of the day (e.g. pasta) but I felt for the portion and taste this was quite an overpriced lunch. They could probably get away with charging this amount if this were a sit-down restaurant but given the straightforward deli-like appearance and customer service, it just seems expensive for what I'm getting. Service was haphazard and I watched a manager needing to correct the staff for not coming to cash out my order. While I waited by the cashier the staff outrightly ignored me and continued working on completing phone orders. The manager had to remind them to service the people who were standing in front of them and that they can't just ignore people. She rang me up and was friendly. The area is around businesses so a lot of people come in for lunch. But what I don't get is why would you set a minimum credit/debit card transaction fee of $15. Not all people spends that amount of money for lunch not all carry cash these days.. Plus technically it is illegal to put a minimum transaction. When I told the guy owner, who happened to be on the register (trust me, ull know he s the owner by his attitude) that I didn't have cash, he gave me a pass on that day and let me pay with card for the amount of $11. I went here for lunch today and it's pretty okay. The serve a selection of about 8 soups. A majority of these are pretty hearty. I orderd the salad today which is pretty typical customizable salad. They have pretty fresh lettuce typically and a good choice of premium ingredients..avocado, portabello mushrooms, garbanzo beans, beets). I think the salad is okay priced, but the soups are definitely overpriced. Overall, probably one of the healthier lunch options in the area. read more

The food here is great. Soup is always something different with the very popular ones served consistently. The hot lunches are fantastic and always different. Fresh salad bar has all the ingredients you could want. Downside is that it's crowded during lunch but that is due to its popularity. We visited this place for lunch several days in a row while working across the street. Everyone loved the food so when I decided to pull off a miracle on Friday, I walked in at 11:30am like your typical corporate suit feeling a bit entitled and expecting miracles for a lunch group of a dozen or more people I was putting together on the fly (like when I say on the fly - I wanted to serve lunch at NOON!) for a training next to their Basking Ridge location. I'm glad I decided to give them an opportunity to help me. Immediately, the owner jumped into gear, took over my order and when I told him my budget create a miracle lunch buffet before my very eyes. Went here today because on the daily special menu they had Crab and Sweet Corn Chowder. Got a pint of that and the panini special. The sandwich was nice, but the chowder should be renamed Potato and Sweet Corn Chowder because I did not find one piece of crab in it at all! It tasted fine and all, but HUGE chunks of potatoes filled my container. I searched and searched, but could not find one bit of crab meat. Today was the first time I've visited this restaurant. I see why it draws a big crowd. The owner and staff are lovely and very accommodating. I had the filet sandwich with cheddar cheese- toasted. Sometimes I go here because it is near my work. The soup is definitely from a base and is just okay. The salads are good because you pick out the lettuce from a case and then someone puts it I. A bowl and adds what you want in it and then dresses it. The dressings are very good but the salads are pretty pricey once you get toppings. They give you a roll or fruit with it. The worst part is the cashier who I think owns it with her husband calls everyone "sweetie" probably at least five times during the transaction. She is a middle aged lady and not like a grandma or anything. It is so patronizing and annoying. For that reason it is enough not to go there. read more

i've only been here a few times but had a real good experience each time. Today had breakfast and everything on the plate was really tasty especially the home fries, bacon and the bread. It was evident they pay attention to details and use fresh and good quality products. Will definitely be back here again. I went in here for the first time today around 3, the employees seemed to be all over the place and it looked like they were closing for the day but they weren't so maybe they are just always that disorganized. I got an 8 dollar sandwich which was fine but then the guy working there who perhaps could be the owner told me there was a $15 min. on a card and asked me to buy more, i typically would walk out because I find it rude to ask me to buy more, I ended up giving myself good karma and buying the girl behind me lunch. I told him a $15 min is actually illegal he laughed in my face and said "haha no it's not but nice try" as if I was trying to get out of paying..spare me. I was annoyed because he could of took the 8 dollars, and he laughed in my face. Of course the second I walked out I pulled up all the info stating owners can charge up to 10 dollars on a CC. And if it's a debit (which mine was) it's treated as cash. I will never return and make sure everyone I know is aware of this poor customer service. read more
