My husband told me this place was good so I thought I'd give it a try. I ordered the pepper steak lunch special, it came with fried rice and wonton soup and I added on an egg roll. All of this cost $10 and was delicious. The lady working the counter was very friendly and sweet, the inside of the restaurant had three tables and a recent supply delivery, it's not really a dine in place, more a Take out establishment. I started with the egg roll, nice and crispy, not greasy and the filling was delicious. The won ton soup was great but tiny, it came in a 1/4 lb deli container. Then the pepper steak was very flavorful but the stand out was the rice. Being originally from union county this was Union county style fried rice, the color was spot on, brown not yellow/orange like some place around here. It tasted great! I ordered pork lo mein and beef chow fun. Being in the tri- state areas , I was expecting much more in Chinese food. I guess my expectations is too high. After going to college in Brooklyn and being spoiled with always be able to find awesome Chinese food, Hunan Wok did not make an impression on me. The lo mein was bland and so was the chow fun noodle dish. There was hardly any sauce and it was a dry meal . The pieces of pork and beef was dry and chewy. Will not visit again . read more

Ordered 2 dinners here very dissapointed. Almost no steak in my one meal. And my pork fried rice had two slivers of pork ontop with nothing in the mix. No veggies nothing but brown rice. The pieces of peppers were huge and undercooked, basically raw. The place looked clean so as my first time here I was hopefull, but very dissapointed. We have order food here for over 15yrs. The food taste good every time. We have only order take out, never ate at the restaurant even though the restaurant has big enough seating room. It's not a "fancy" Chinese food place, more of a good food place. We had company from Texas who are Chinese and love the Lomein here better than in Texas. Reasonable price for the portion size. No problem with parking here. At times, I have been charged extra for the hot oil which to me is just really not customer friendly. read more

EDIT: I've heard that the original owners have sold the restaurant because the competition from the pho restaurant next door was killing their sales...which is unfortunate. Based on recent reviews, looks like the new owners are not as good... This has been my family's go-to for takeout for 9+ years, and this is coming from a Chinese family that is extremely picky about American-Styed Chinese food. Ingredients are fresh (unlike some other places in the area). We especially love any of the fried tofu dishes, which the cooks fry themselves. Lunch special prices are reasonable. They are very accomodating to requests or needs you have, and the owners are friendly and can recognize you if you frequently come here. As for the interior, sure it looks outdated...but the food sure makes up for it. read more

I want to lean toward a 3 because most people like their food and I have had it and enjoyed it a number of times. Well, I have enjoyed it for the generic, non-authentic Chinese, Americanized "stuff" that most of these types of establishments have. The establishment itself is terrible. The floor has been cracked and peeling for years and years, there is an oily feel in the air...almost as if the cooking oil is going into your pores. Despite that, they are very busy at lunchtime pretty much everyday. Good value, decent generic Chinese food....thats about it. If you like this type of Chinese, by all means eat there or get some take-out but don't expect a wonderful experience. read more

Had dinner here once. I found the food to be regular (and I'm not into eating with plastic utensils). The service was accommodating. The place looks like it needs a new carpet. read more

Just like any place, you can have problems with consistency. But, For the most part, they get it right. Great sauce on the ribs. Ribs are great but, sometimes big, sometimes small.....Lo Mein is jammed in there. You order a small, and you're set. Other food are great too. We were looking for a good Chinese take out location for a group of people ranging from 16 to 94 - every one was happy with the food. The quality was good and fresh and the portions were generous - we had spring rolls, spare ribs (giant and bright red - just what we wanted) moo shu pork, Buddha's delight, sautéed eggplant - and after 6 people ate their fill we had leftovers. From reading the previous reviews. I respect their opinions but I personally really like the Chinese food here. I have tried take out in different areas but can't beat this. I would usually get take out because when I order Chinese it's usually a lazy day for me, or a night in! The people that live around the area usually order from this place. All my neighbors do at least! (Mind you, there are many other Chinese take out / eat in places in the area) I would order the chicken lo mein, orange chicken or general tso chicken. I like their chicken wings with the hot sauce. Service is quick for take out. Usually depending on how much you order the average time is 10-20mins. Lunch is so cheap here $5.50 including soup! Not the best but it is what it is. I went once for a takeout, I ordered 4 orders of wings and they only had one ready. I waited for my wings and the person at the counter looked mad. One of the best American Chinese restaurants around. Food always tastes great and fresh no matter what you order. I've never had a problem. The fried noodles that come in a little pack that you order separate are sometimes stale and it doesn't come free with a dinner order. My favorites are the hunan chicken and veggie combo with white rice combo which comes with an egg roll. Usually comes with fried rice but white rice is a bit healthier. Another good combo that a lot of people get that's really good here is the General Tso's chicken. Alot of places don't make it the right way or as flavorable as this place around town. Fried chicken wings are good. Fried dumplings are really good too. The portion sizes are huge! I generally can not finish a dinner combo and always have enough left over for lunch or dinner the next night. There is plenty of seating at this location. Unfortunately this place doesn't deliver. I usually call my order in and it's usually done within 10 minutes and tops 20-30 minutes during busy times. They are usually on point when they tell you how long it will take for your food to be ready. I recommend this place often for people looking for a good Chinese restaurant. read more

During the last 2 visits during the past 6 weeks, I noticed that the husband (chef) and wife (hostess) had not been behind the counter. How can you screw up general tsos chicken?!?! There was so much effing batter on it and the texture was like when you try to eat fries the next day after they've been sitting in the fridge all night. I wouldn't dare call that "chicken", more like general tsos chicken flavored batter. At least try to make it with something you fried within the last hour!! And normally I wouldn't order a dish from a takeout place with fancy names but I thought, what the heck, I like Hawaii five o the show, maybe it wouldn't hurt to try the dish. I should have listened to my gut, then I prolly wouldn't be going to the bathroom every couple mins. The sauce tastes slightly metallic and the baby corn was old and tasted rotten. Plus, don't advertise that there's shrimp and scallops in the dish when you only put a few in. Honestly if that were the case, every dish can be considered a seafood dish if we throw a shrimp in there. Don't tell me you put shrimp and scallops in a dish if quantity wise there's more garlic floating around!
