This place had one of the highest ratings for Chinese food in the area, so I decided to follow the advice of Yelpers and give it a try..boy was that a mistake.
First the food is nontraditional Chinese food. It's your typical fast American Chinese food. You'll find your General Tso's and Lo Mein here, that's for sure. There's nothing wrong with that, and I enjoy both types of Chinese food. So we went and ordered a lot of food for take out, none of which we were impressed with.
- Crab Rangoon: This was beyond stale. Biting into the freshly fried app, you would expect a crunch..nope had no crunch whatsoever. Instead it was this chewy friend exterior. Which was a bit of a shame, the inside of it wasn't too terrible.
- General Tso's: You're definitely not getting fresh food here. The chicken was horrendous. I suspect they pre-fried the chicken, stored it in a fridge, and pulled it out to cook when ordering; because the chicken definitely tasted days old. It had that chewy, overdone texture that you would normally get after you microwave your leftovers for too long the next day. The sauce had minimal flavor, and the fried rice that came with the combo was soft in some areas and crunchy (stale, old, leftover?) in others.
- Hot & Sour Soup: The soup had a kick to it, which is always good for Hot & Sour. My first taste of it was a bit off putting. There wasn't much sour to it until you got a bit of the pickled cabbage or some sort of vegetable in it. Eventually though, the spiciness will numb your taste buds, and this ends up tasting better. The veggies in it was a bit concerning though. It wasn't the most visually appealing, and a bit soft. Given the quality of everything else, I ate this while thinking to myself "I'm sooo going to regret this tomorrow morning." Luckily, I've been fine. But I definitely will not be trying my luck again at this place. read more
