Excellent experience today! The moment I walked in, they were so fast and efficient. We got a bunch of large dim sum plates ...so much to put down here but the food was excellent, service was excellent!

The black pepper beef/ steak is the best dish here and a decent value at around $30. It was delicious and tender. The Peking duck is overpriced ($78 full, $40 half duck) and small portions. I wouldn't recommend it. It was ok but not great. A little bit dry. Lobster is kinda pricey too - $40 for one. We ordered one and it tasted ok just a little too pricey for the smallish lobster. The veggie dish my mom ordered was pretty good. Mushrooms with cabbage. Great flavor and portion size. The scallops dish was ok. It came with a lot of veggies for a good flavor but I guess I like my scallops a little bit seared by the wok. It's still a very good restaurant with good flavor and friendly waitstaff. However you just have to be smart about ordering.

Had a very satisfying meal here! Our first time too and im happy we were able to have a good dining experience! (fyi: also got lucky with street parking. Just one of those good days). we came in on a saturday at 11:30AM and we got seated right away even though it was already getting full inside. There was a good amount of dimsum carts walking by so it didnt take too long to get orders in. We loved the soup dumplings, siu mai and shrimp hakaw. o tried something new as well which was a shrimp and chive(or leek?) dumpling and enjoyed that too! honestly everything we got that day was delicious and I appreciate that service was friendly. Too bad its a bit far from us otherwise im sure we'd frequent this place. Clean and spacious inside too!

I had a really amazing experience at Canton Palace. I dined there for a friend's celebration, so it was an excellent crash course on Cantonese cuisine. With the extensive menu and items served family-style, I was able to take a deep dive into all of the intricacies of the flavors and dishes. We had a wide array of dishes that were shared by my table. My favorites were jellyfish, steamed fish with herbs, fried pork pieces, crab rice, sautéed beans and noodles. Most, if not all, were items that I never had before and it was incredible to enjoy traditional Cantonese dishes. Everything tasted fantastic and our servers were excellent. I was absolutely stuffed but still made room for the bean soup dessert which was very tasty. All in all, I thoroughly enjoyed all of the food and absolutely recommend this restaurant! It was a truly memorable experience.

Canton Palace is our go to favorite Chinese restaurant in Somerville Incredibly good food, with friendly, and attentive service. My typical orders include Peking Pork Chops, House Pan fried noodles with beef, and a home style Grouper.... Yum !!!! Definitely give canton palace a tr

So nice to see a place offering dim sum during the week! Great variety of food and high quality. My favorite was the salted egg bun!! Service was good and the restaurant was clean and comfortable. Will be going back for lunch again!

My party of 4 visited on a Saturday around 12pm, and were seated promptly. The restaurant was not too busy for weekend dim sum service. As soon as we were seated, quite a few dim sum servers came to our table with a variety of dim sum options. We enjoyed all the dim sum we ordered and they all tasted fresh. The dim sum is a bit more expensive compared to other options in central Jersey. The staff was attentive in helping to clear empty plates, refill our teapot and even help pour us tea. - As it is located in downtown Somerville, you have to find street parking or park in one of the designated lots.

We've been visiting Canton Palace for many years, but decided to make a post review finally. This is probably the best quality and most authentic dim sum in the area. The service is on the fast side, but naturally understandable because it's a dim sum spot so unfortunately, it's fast service but equally fast tables. Something not done here, but in more traditional dim sum places in Hong Kong you will share tables because it's always packed and people are flying in and out. We tend to get a wide variety of the cart foods, including the shrimp, dumplings, chicken feet, etc. everything is fresh and tasty. For the larger table dishes, recommend getting the beef chow fun, salted fish chicken fried rice and if you're feeling decadent, you can order ahead for a king crab prepared in multiple styles. P.S. never get soup dumplings at a dim sum place

Stopped by for dinner as we'd only ever been for dim sum! Our dishes were generous portions but I would've loved to see more flavor for the shrimp sauce and a touch more curry powder in the noodles. The eggplant was fantastic. I was a little disappointed to see they had disposable tablecloths as I hate to see single use plastic items in a sit down restaurant.

The good was the service and ambiance. Staff were attentive and there was a high attention to detail (frequent plate exchanges for the messy items). A good number of tables with the lazy Susan for dim sum or family style dinner. The food was a solid 'ok' in that the presentation was good but the flavor seemed to fall flat. Spicy dishes were mild and the coconut taro casserole we were warned it was coconut flavor to find the coconut flavor very mild and overpowered by the sausage and pumpkin. Will be back though as I hear the dim sum is well worth it!

I've been there quite a lot of times for dim sum and dinner. Food is good but not anything impressive. However, I highly recommend their lunch specials. They are only $13 (or $14? I forgot ) The best part is their double-steamed house soup that comes with the lunch.

This is our go to place when we visit my mom. Came here tonight for her birthday and also brought whole family here over Christmas. Service is super fast, food is authentic! We've been coming here for years. Our favorites include salted fish, eggplant and chicken casserole, home style grouper with green beans. We always go home satisfied, full and happy! Happy New Year!

Went back again in a week. Liked it more! Great food, nice people, fast and friendly service! So stuffed! Had to bring home leftovers. Will be back soon.

    Is Parking difficult?

They don't have their own parking lot. You will need to look for parking spots on the street.

Do they do dim sum on the weekend?

Yes. Well actually, they do dim sum everyday. They just don't come abound with the carts since it's a small place.

Is Canton Palace moving to Ridgefield?

I called to check and they are not moving. I'm not positive, but the one in Ridgefield might be their second location. The one is Somerville is not closing though.

Very happy to have a Hong Kong style Cha Chan Tang restaurant right here in Edison, NJ. While there are a few places in NYC, its nice to see Jersey finally get one too. The stars if today were the appetizer dishes. The rice noodles with the special peanut sauce was 100% the best and exactly what you'd expect when you order that dish. The squid and popcorn chicken were both amazing and fried lightly but with a great crispy texture. The small pineapple bun with butter was delicious. We actually had it as a starter and again for dessert. While we loved the apps, the baked rice with pork chop and pepper steak rice bowls were just ok. They weren't amazingly flavorful, but they were still tasty with heavy portions so the value was there. We had HK style milk tea and topped off our meal with their special creamy french toast. Overall we left overly full and didn't have to pay too much. Wow Cafe is very affordable and the staff is very friendly and fast to cater to your needs. It was crowded but not packed yet. We were seated right away (your whole party needs to be there). There are so many options for dim sum - some that you don't even typically see in Brooklyn/Chinatown. For example, I saw some lobster tails, and a giant cheesy oyster that looked really good but I'm sure they were $$$. We stuck to the dim sum basics - ha gao, shumai, beef churng fun, chicken feet, chicken sticky rice, steamed cha siu baos, and tofu pudding. I don't have any complaints about the dim sum. All were good and some were even better than ones in NYC. And let me tell you - they do not skimp on the meat here. The ha gaos and shumais were so plump! Since it's a rarity that we get to have authentic Chinese food, we also ordered the salted fish and diced chicken fried rice, and the pan-fried noodles with beef. Both were good and had lots of meat. Service was surprisingly attentive - unlike in NYC where it takes forever to flag down a waiter. Our waiter was always nearby and seemed happy to help with our requests of water, chili oil, etc. I think we might have found our go-to Cantonese restaurant. It's just a shame it isn't closer to home.
