Popped into NYC for the weekend and my fiancé wanted some dim sum. It was close to Broadway and we walked there. To be honest we didn't know there was so many Dim Sum Palace in Manhattan, because this was a different one than the one we believe we went to. We sat down and order food. We just wanted something light to eat for the day so we didn't order much. The restaurant is a bit small and the tables were place very close to each other. We wrote down what we want and the orders start rolling in. We got some delicious dumplings and pork buns. The scallion pancake was light and fluffy. We were excited for the Chinese broccoli with oyster sauce. We did order Singapore mei fun but they forgot it. I was kind of happy they did because we were full. Overall it was a good place to get some dim sum. read more

I usually snap photos of my food before digging in, but this time I walked in with a mean hunger and went straight for it. I started with the peanut chicken lettuce wraps (leaving one on the plate to save room), then moved on to the fried shredded beef and the fried chicken instant noodles (which really caught my eye) I was craving something heavier this time, and those noddles did justice. Overall, everything was satisfying. The lettuce wraps could've used more peanuts (I barely tasted them), and the fried shredded beef was labeled spicy but had zero heat. Still, the food hit the spot and left me full and happy. The service was outstanding. The restaurant dining area was very clean and well-maintained, my drink was always full, and the food came out quick and hot. The portions were very generous. I ended up taking some home, and they packed it up fast. Happy food, happy customer! read more

Very authentic and delicious food. The soup dumplings were delicious and the broth was so flavorful! They were generously filled with filling as well. I also really enjoyed the chicken fried rice. Very flavorful and had a lot of chicken and rice in it. The Mongolian beef was spicy but still good if you can handle heat. The shrimp dumplings were phenomenal!!! The service was terrible. No friendly employees! 4 stars for the food. 2 for the service. Located on Restaurant Row which is a fun street! read more

I Took a New York girl on a date and wanted authentic dim sum and ordered Shumai, wontons, bbq pork bun, beef noodle, pan fried bun, beef shumai. When I compare, the flavors here just feel more mild to others and the flavor depth was lacking. The Szechuan wonton for example was not spicy at all and instead of having the chili oil thickness in the sauce it was watery. The waiter also took our order without a notepad, I asked if he wanted to write it down and he insisted he would remember the order. Well he forgot the hagao that I ordered... We got the food fast but attention to detail and quality of food can be better. read more

This place is awesome. The food is so good I think about it when I'm thinking of my next outing. The place is very nice, it's beautifully decorated and always clean. What I love most is that everything here is quick but always well prepared. The food never tastes rushed, is always good quality. We've been here a couple of times now and each time we try something new. Everything is BOMB. the staff won't make too much conversation but they will help you find what you need. I've been meaning to write a review for this place since I come here pretty often. The interior setup is a bit odd, but given how limited the space is, it makes sense. This is my go-to dim sum spot. It's definitely pricier than Chinatown, but the food quality makes the difference. A lot of Chinatown dim sum tastes pre-made or packaged, while this place actually tastes fresh. I don't mind paying more for that. The service is friendly and attentive, and I'd definitely come back--even with the quirky seating. :) read more

Dined here countless times and love everything about Dim Sum Palace. There are several locations and I usually visit this one or another near Macy's. They recently underwent a complete renovation of this space, looking contemporary and sharp. Whether it's their delicious Dim Sum such as Soy Dumplings or Seafood Peashoot, or main dishes as in Chicken with Mango or Garlic Sauce, you'll leave satisfied having experienced a delicious meal. Our order post theater was simple: Absolutely delicious Rose wine and a small variety of Dim Sum (Seafood Peashoot, Soy and Pan fried Shrimp combined with Chicken) followed by a shareable main: Chicken with Garlic Sauce. We also made the request to eliminate MSG. Result? Delicious, authentic, flavorful meal. By the way, I'm addicted to their warm Taro Buns but was too full to order during this visit. The food was good overall. I just didn't like how the lady looked me up and down and asked if I was taking my food to go when I first got there while she asked everyone else where they'd like to sit. The gentleman server was better. I wouldn't come back because of that alone. read more

I found myself always craving hot soup these past few weeks just about every time I'm in New York. When you become a regular neighborhood Yelper in Hell's Kitchen, you get to discover all sorts of restaurants of different cuisines and your favorite places you visit time and time again. This round, dim sum was on my mind and another stroll down Restaurant Row I find Dim Sum Palace for dinner. They have all your favorite dishes, appetizers, and a full bar. Wow this bar has some alcohol choices! They aren't expensive, it's casual dining, seems like they are doing renovations which is good in the restaurant industry or else businesses won't attract new and repeat customers. But the quality of food, portion of size, and most importantly cleanliness of the restaurant is what I notice the most compared to other dim sum restaurants I've heard of either back home or in NYC. I fully enjoyed my visit and would dine in again either during lunch and dinner hours go very late at night, perfect if you're getting out of the bar or a late night broadway show. read more

One of the best dim sum places outside of Chinatown in my opinion. It's convenient that there are a couple of locations in Manhattan. They offer a wide variety of classic dim sum options, including my favorites: soup dumplings, fried dumplings, pan fried buns, rice noodle rolls, sticky rice, radish cake, shumai, crystal shrimp, etc, all of which are super delicious and authentic in taste. I love the entrees too--the green beans are crispy, the snow pea shoots are tasty, and the beef chow fun is delicious. No notes! It's relatively easy to walk in to this location. read more

After a long day's walk around New York and Brooklyn Bridge, Dim Sum Palace was exactly what we needed. The moment we entered the restaurant, we were transported to streets of Asia, in the sense that it was loud in a fun way! The restaurant is huge with plenty of seating. They have a huge menu to select from. We ordered a couple of dim-sums, spring roll, stir fried pork and noodles. Enjoyed all the dishes - the pork stir fry with vegetables really stood out and was my favourite dish for the night. The mixed mushroom dumpling was my favourite dumpling for the night. Came back again with my family after seeing MJ (shameless plug it's REALLY GOOD-go check it out b4 it leaves) and we made sure we got dumplings. We ordered lots and yes my chicken ones again. SUPERB! We also ordered some duck item from the menu...good flavor; classic and the star anise shined. A soup was ordered and a fried rice shared by the whole table. YUM!!! I could eat here weekly if my life allowed!! As for the service, to keep it simple. I had my parents w/me and really wanted the round, lazy-Susan table in the back. However, a larger party had it reserved in about an hour 1/2 later. The manager was kind enough to give and I promised we'd be out. I appreciate him going above and beyond the normal way of doing business to give our family the space we needed to enjoy their delectable offerings! Being in the back provided the legroom required and the temperature setting (it was bleeding outside on Black Friday) that met the needs of all the ages and health care needs of every family member. Amazing food! Slightly upscale for dim sum - it's a narrow space so you won't find dim sum carts here. Instead you order off a menu and they bring it out to your table. The attentive service combined with the real tablecloths and presentation really added to the ambiance. I'm more accustomed to traditional dim sum restaurants where they sling food at you from a cart. I've had mixed experiences with ordering dim sum from a menu, so I was a bit hesitant upon arriving. To my delight, every dish was super fresh and tasty. A few dishes took a bit longer which I'm totally ok with since it's made to order and not sitting under a heat lamp. The ingredients were also high quality. For example the steamed pork buns had a good amount of quality meat, not the fatty kind with lots of gristle. Same with the steamed sticky rice - they didn't skimp on the meat and the texture of the sticky rice was perfect. Probably the best steamed sticky rice I've had anywhere. Also highly recommend the salt and pepper prawns, shrimp dumplings, and turnip cakes. Everything was fresh and wonderful. My new go to spot for dim sum in Manhattan! read more

Loved this! Stopped in for some late night dim sum and were given the choice of inside or outside. Sat inside and were served immediate. Both the mango iced tea and the yuzu sake were delicious and refreshing - my boyfriend took a photo of the sake bottle to be sure he could have it again. The variety of dim sum options were unique and each prepared beautifully-- highlights include the duck dumplings and the pineapple cheese wontons (trust me, dip them in the chili oil). When do they not have happy hour! We ordered entirely too much food. This is the perfect place to go and share food. We ordered for 4 although we were only a group of 2 and took so much home. The drinks were so strong 1 is like having 2. Try and save room for desert it is so worth it. The dumplings were very flavorful. The service was like a casual dance. I thought the food was good but not flavorful enough to be great. The bok choy was the biggest portion I've ever seen which made us feel happy and healthy. I've been coming to this location for years. Our friends treated my Mom and I to a birthday celebration. We were able to reserve the VIP room for the party. The decor is even more beautiful now that the renovations are done. The service has always been amazing. Our server was very attentive and kept checking in to make sure we were having a good time. Most importantly, the dishes are always delicious. My favorites are the Peking Duck, the House Special, and the Tofu Stuffed Shrimp. We will continue to come back for more!! read more

I started with the chicken soup dumplings and they were absolutely delicious! I also got the pork and chive dumplings, which were good, but after having the soup dumplings, they didn't quite measure up. Also, I ordered the stir-fried instant noodles with chicken, but they brought it out with pork instead. They offered to fix it, but I was fine with it, and honestly, the dish was packed with flavor and turned out really good. All the talk about Chinese food in Gypsy made us crave dim sum. My trusted Yelp guide led us here. Boy did we luck out. Despite the crowd which I can only assume were a bunch of folks who had just come out of whatever musical/play they watched like us, we were seated right away. We started off with the cucumber salad that hit the spot then followed that with the pork dumplings, chow fun and orange chicken. In the end, we got entirely too much food, but the leftovers was the perfect snack the next day. Not only did everything smell so good, but damn it was all so tasty. The crispyness of the chicken was heaven. The dipping sauces for the dumplings was fire. The service was so on point. There were so many people working so all the orders came out so quick. Long day in the city, we ended up at our hotel hungry. While there are plenty of places to eat in the Hells kitchen area, we loved the Dim Sum Palace so much that we visited a few times during our vacation. Once you walk down a few steps, you find yourself nestled in a small restaurant that serves up delicious dim sum. The soup dumplings are addictive, the pork buns heavenly. On our last visit we splurged with the General Tso's chicken after asking for a recommendation from our waiter. I wish I would have taken a picture. Instead we immediately enhaled that plate of goodness. The chicken was fried crispy, perfectly coated with a tangy and sweet sauce. In case you couldn't tell, we really like this place. Located near Times Square. This is my no need to go to Chinatown to get dim sum spot is consistently delicious small spot very clean. Food is authentic great place to eat dim sum on the run. A solid and authentic Dim Sum dinner. There are soooooo many options on the menu, you'll have trouble making a decision. That's not a bad problem to have. The duck egg rolls were our favorite, but all our duck choices were good. The shu mai and soup dumplings were a standout too. For us the dumpling wrappers were a little thick, but we enjoyed them. The servers are constantly on the move and get your food out fast and hot. Dim Sum Palace has a full bar in the front. It was a nice place to wait the few minutes it took to get our table. We had a nice dinner and I wouldn't hesitate go back on our next NYC trip. read more

Quick and good service, but the dumplings are pretty average here. I think most of them could be great if the dumpling skin wasn't so sticky. The shrimp and spicy mushroom were my favorite, I would skip the duck next time. Kudos to this restaurant being the only one on the block other than the very expensive Le Rivage for making their outdoor patio actually ADA compliant/wheelchair accessible. I'm not sure about the bathroom because I didn't actually go inside but I didn't observe any obstacles at the entrance read more

We went there for Duck. I would not recommend this spot to anyone. The waiter only curved out the skin with fat for us until we mentioned where the meat was. Then the waitress came and started pulling the meat with her hands and topping it off the buns..Waitress kept on apologizing- it would have been nice if they either took it back and brought back another one or just removed it from our bill. Visited with family and had a mixed experience. It took quite a while for anyone to bring us water, and when it finally came, there was residue floating in some glasses and no ice in others. The dim sum took a long time to come out and arrived one item at a time, which made the meal feel disjointed. Some highlights: the boiled short rib was very flavorful, the green tea was nice and comforting, and the congee with thousand-year-old egg was well done. On the downside, the shrimp rice noodle roll was sloppily rolled and lacked the usual finesse. Love this place in restaurant row. I've been going there for years and taken friends and they all love it! My favoritesssss are the little pork ribs with garlic (omggggg!!!), I rediscovered the big shrimp w broccoli and mayo (ask for not too much mayo). I had not had them in 20 years when I lived in LA. A friend ordered them and I didn't know they were on the menu. Soooooo good!!! The pancakes and dim sum are great! Finish with the sesame balls or the green balls. Very yummy. We always have the jasmine tea (not free). My friend waitress is May. Go there and you won't be disappointed! read more

We LOVED this place! We were the first customers on a random weekday- expecting food to be left overs from the day before. We were blown away from the piping hot, fresh dim sum. Every dish was so delicious and flavorful. Attentive and friendly service. They were also clean and spacious! read more

This place saves the night by opening so late! Dim sum at night is such a vibe. I will say though, because it's in the Theatre District, prices are notably higher than any other dim sum restaurant I've been to, but that's entirely expected. Right on restaurant row and a good place for pre/post theater meal. Pretty authentic dim sum choices. Loved the soup dumping, but be careful they are hot and they squirt. We sat outside which was pleasant and they let us linger as we were not going to the theater; refilled our green tea. There is a nice variety of tasty vegetarian options here. I'd stick mostly to the dim sum menu. My group tried the vegetarian dim sum platter (soybean dumplings, bamboo shoot dumplings, mixed mushroom dumplings, and Buddha delight dumplings), spicy mushroom dumplings, scallion pancakes, crispy milk curd, green tea rice ball, and mapo tofu. The dumplings were all fantastic, especially the spicy mushroom and milk curd ones. We got a variety of flavors through the spread we ordered. I appreciated the huge variety of choices. The mapo tofu was just fine - not really numbing or spicy, but came with a bunch of vegetables. I'd probably skip this one next time. Prices were reasonable at about $30 per person after tax and tip for a large amount of food (we ended up taking some of it home). Service was quick and very friendly. read more

I decided to give it one more chance, praying that I have just had bad luck every time for the last decade. Lol Well, the roast pork was better than before. That's not saying much because it's always too lean or too fatty even though I ask for 50/50. I believe thay are using a cheaper cut of pork to keep their prices low. Then there is that over the top sweet sauce they slather on top. It's clearly a thing for a lot of people, but not me. The roast chicken was one word: DRY! I could not enjoy it because the meat was overcooked and flavorless. I really can't recommend this item to anyone with good conscience. Anyway, that will be my last visit to a place lost to time and fading memories of what once was. Even if there is no lines again in the future, I will not waste another meal here for subpar Cantonese food.

Just for the dim sum and only for the dim sum. Incidentally, it's worth mentioning that per their menu ALL DIM SUM are half off during their happy hour (eat-in only). Don't know, only went for lunch twice. There are ugly rumors that dim sum aren't available at dinner, don't know, never been. The food is authentically Hong Kong, the selection of dim sum is very nice. Prices are reasonable, 6.50 (a lot of them) to 12.00 (crabmeat juicy). Not like Upper West Side's La Salle Dumpling Room which charges $11.95 for 4 dumplings or Jing Fong which sees nothing wrong with charging $10 for 3 shrimp dumplings. They have a good selection, including spare ribs with black bean, basically a solid spot with fair prices, and if the happy hour thing is true, you can get virtually free dumplings between 3 and 5. stuff them in your pockets at take home to your friends. From the moment we walked in, the service was outstanding. Even late in the evening, the staff was incredibly welcoming, attentive, and genuinely happy to have us there. They kept the tea flowing, checked in just the right amount, and made the whole experience feel relaxed and enjoyable. We ordered a variety of dim sum to share, and everything was delicious. Every dish arrived hot, fresh, and full of flavor. There were plenty of vegetarian options, which we really appreciated. Sharing a mix of dishes was definitely the way to go--it turned a quick snack into a fun experience. Dim Sum Palace was the perfect ending to a fantastic evening. I recently visited Dim Sum Palace, a dim sum restaurant in Manhattan and was blown away by the quality of the food and the service. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The decor was elegant and modern, and the staff was incredibly friendly and attentive. The dim sum itself was absolutely delicious. Each dish was expertly prepared and beautifully presented. The Siu Mai's were especially noteworthy - they were perfectly steamed and packed with flavourful fillings. I also loved the fried rice and the bao buns. The drinks menu was also fantastic, offering a wide range of teas and other beverages to complement the dim sum. If you are looking for fresh and authentic Hong Kong dim sum, skip Chinatown and make a beeline to Dim Sum Palace. This place is the real deal with fresh made to order dim sum dishes. The dumplings are amazing and coming from a Hong Kong family, we know fresh ones when we see it. There is much variety like peashoot shrimp dumplings and shredded duck steamed dumplings. The green tea rice ball for dessert is a must. The taro cake is delicious as well. There is no need to go to Flushing or Chinatown when you can come here. The restaurant feels like your typical dim sum place, crowded with as many tables as possible, squeezing through chairs to get through things. It was a very long restaurant one way with a bar in the front, but it wasn't very wide overall. We ended up sitting in the backroom with about 6 other tables, including some large 8-person ones. The dim sum menu has pictures of everything and you just write numbers on the items to order, which is pretty easy and straightforward. Does not compare favorably to other dim sum places in NYC. The five-spice duck was basically duck in gravy. The duck was the worst I've ever had--it was chewy and tasteless. Also, they were very stingy with the meat in the filling in most of the dim sum dishes. The duck meat dumplings tasted vegetarian, and the pan-fried buns were mostly cabbage and had hardly any meat filling. Other portion sizes were also small (e.g., the sticky rice). But this restaurant has basically no competition for dim sum after 10 pm, and they know it. read more

We ate here twice during our New York vacation due to our desire for Dim Sum and its proximity to our hotel. The first time our experience was ok. Food was fine but it felt like it was 85 degrees and it made all of us overheated, not a good thing when you are eating hot food. Our second visit temperature wise was better but the food wasn't as good as our first time. The deep fried food tasted overcooked/burnt. The price of the food was reasonable and service was friendly and quick. Just a 3 star place imho. read more

I will totally recommend anyone to try this dim sum spot. It is the ONLY one in Manhattan that serves all-day dim sum. It is a-la-carte so it is always made fresh - unlike the crazy cart madness. The staff is very friendly (ask for Grace!) and the place is clean. Avoid the hassle of going to Chinatown and give this place a try. Tonight was my third time in a week. One of my friends recommended this restaurant to me and I can't thank them enough!! I finally decided to give this place a try and it did not disappoint. Once I came in, I was quickly seated by one of the waiters. Great service, but even better food! Only reason for four stars was due to delay in service - they were busy so we had to wait awhile to get our order in as our waitress had to keep leaving and coming but after i mentioned it to them they really accommodated to our needs. I really wanted Chinese food they are located by the hotel.. The fried rice was very bland, (tasteless) even after four things of soy sauce.. The pork ribs are fried, but are bone nuggets so you can't even eat those and the wonton soup wontons had what look like a raw meat in them. Dim Sum Palace, my former favorite takeout spot, has seen better days. While still offering some outstanding dishes, consistency has suffered. Har gow, siu mai, and sesame balls remain top-notch. However, other items, like the egg tarts and congee, have decreased in quality. Pricing is fair, but quality control needs improvement. Worth visiting, but temper your expectations. read more
