Solid dumplings - we of course over ordered and loved every second of it. We had the pork soup dumplings, the crab, pan fried, scallion pancakes, the dumpling soup & the shrimp lo mein. My favorite were the shrimp lo mein for its delicious perfection and perfectly cooked shrimp and vegetables. The soup dumplings for me were a little doughy - still delicious but doughy. I preferred the scallion pancake and the on fried dumplings. I've wanted to try this place forever and I'm so glad I was able to. read more

This is a reliable spot for a quick and delicious meal at a value not far from Times Square. In addition to soup dumplings, DD has some other savory noodle dishes, and does an excellent job with green vegetables, particularly the sauteed baby bok choy. The thing about D&D is that you have to eat there. Don't do take out. The dumplings and food is great, as long as you dine-in. Also, don't go off book and order from their Chinese or other menu's. I've been here twice and tried the dumplings both times! I also forgot to take a photo but I tried the scallion pancakes and they were delicious. They're not the best dumplings I've had, but they're decent and I have no complaints. The restaurant also has a hibachi menu if you prefer that over dumplings. I want to try the pan fried pork buns next time I come!! Service is friendly but they add automated gratuity even if you dine alone so just keep in mind so you don't accidentally add a second gratuity on top of the 20% they already add to the bill. read more

Excellent! Came here after 10pm after seeing a Broadway show. Was really cold and hungry. They had the greatest heater haha, and they were so kind and the service was quick! Restaurant smelled amazing too. I got takeout - pork soup dumplings and chicken udon. Very reasonably priced, especially for the location. Food tasted fresh and of high quality. The food here is overall solid and good. The soup dumpling was flavorful with a hint of sesame oil while the skin was thick and chewy. I personally prefer a dumpling skin that's a bit thinner but it still tasted fresh. The sliced beef pancake was okay. It wasn't anything special, just had a lot of sauce for a sweet taste and a very thin layer of beef. If it had more beef in it, the ratio of pancake to meat would have been a lot better. read more

usually good but not tonight. edamame was pretty raw and not up to the standard established by the previous 40 times we have gone. Same with the young chow fried rice - it was missing the ham. a main ingredient. i asked if there was a new cook. The XLB cane quickly and the pancakes a fee minutes later. the bars were really thin skinned. i love them that way. Only issue is one broke cuz it stuck on the paper. We were in Times Square, Broadway area for an evening show and our early dinner at DD Soup Dumpling ended up being one of the most satisfying and delicious Asian meals of our NYC trip. We ordered a variety of dishes, including the pan fried house special stir fry noodle, pan fried potstickers, a chicken noodle soup, stir fried baby bok choy, and XLB. With the exception of the minor comment that the XLB skins were on the thick, rustic side, everything was delicious. The noodles were well fried with good seasoning. The bok choy was a generous portion. The dumplings were all juicy and flavorful. We ordered the chicken noodle soup just to have a brothy soup and were blown away by how soothing and comforting the broth/dish overall was. Don't judge this book by its cover. The signage out front and its proximity to the biggest tourist trap in the western hemisphere would lead any reasonable person to think this place would suck. And yet, it was some of the best Chinese food I've had in a while. Loved the soup dumplings, the pan fried dumplings and scallion pancakes. Really enjoyed the sticky rice shumai and the udon noodles. The food was good. We were a group 2 but tried a lot of small dishes. The cucumber salad, in particular, was unexpectedly good. That being said, the service is lacking. Firstly, they didn't let my sweaty and unhydrated friend sit before "everyone in the party had arrived." We were just 2 people, and there clearly were tables available (weekday dinner). The table we were sat in was literally just in front of her, but she was not allowed to sit on it until after I arrived 10 mins later. Secondly, it is very loud since there is teppanyaki going on in some of the tables. The chefs sometimes flare up the grill so high that you can physically feel the heat when you're seated far away. Lastly, for some reason, the card machine added an extra 3% on top of the total bill when we clearly paid with a debit card and not a credit card as they advertised. The worker was really unpleasant when we asked for the bill to be canceled so that we could pay with another card. They also added mandatory tip when we were only a party of 2. I really wanted to like this place, but the service is not worth it. We were not bad business either. The total bill was 80.45, which I feel was very good business for 2 people for us to deserve such service. read more

Decent neighborhood place for soup dumplings, prices are fair for the neighborhood. The staff are incredibly friendly. This is a dual dumpling and hibachi chain, but I only stop by here for a few orders of soup dumplings at the bar. The restaurant has great natural light at the bar however it is also lit like a nightclub in a way. Order by tablet as you go, and for the price point they're the more affordable side of reasonable in the neighborhood. read more
