I will be going back in the future. It was good and authentic taste. Felt like I was in china mamas cooking.

I hadn't been to Excellent Dumpling House in years (it used to be a place I frequented a lot in college, since I went to school nearby), but I decided to go back this past weekend. We went in around 5pm, and there were several open tables. My group of 3 and I were sat right away. The staff is friendly and attentive, and to make it even better, they have spa music playing overhead, making the ambience perfect for a relaxing meal. Since I was feeling a bit under the weather, I got the corn and egg drop soup to start, and the mushroom and vegetable dumplings for my main. The egg drop soup is a delicious classic, and the corn was a nice touch. The mushroom and vegetable dumplings were also amazing, and were flavorful enough without the dipping sauce they give you. It's rare to find vegetarian dim sum options, even though I do love my shrimp dumplings. They were heavenly! If you're in the area and are looking for some high-quality Chinese food at good prices, look no further!

This place is true to its name. No lies whatsoever. The dumplings were excellent. If you're in need of a late night dumpling fix, this is the spot. My cousins and I were hanging out late one night and this was one of the only places open late. Service was great and the food came out pretty quick.

Nope. Not going back despite the extremely competitive prices, which are even cheaper on the delivery apps. They only had the late night menu at 9pm (!), which includes a small assortment of dumplings and soup. No rice items or any appetizers whatsoever. The dining area is large, but severely understaffed. The lady at the counter was overworked but doing an excellent job at managing takeout and dine-in orders, as well as greeting arriving customers. She deserves a raise and a promotion. The food itself was meh. The fried chicken dumplings were soaked in oil, and the shrimp dumplings had no taste barring the shrimp which itself was tasty.

This restaurant was right around the corner from my hotel so I decided to give it a try -- & I'm glad I did. Good food and excellent service! They were accommodating with my dad's dietary restrictions/allergies. The crispy chili chicken and steamed dumplings were soo delicious! And of course, I had to get a corn and egg drop soup . The restaurant was spacious, especially for NYC and clean. Not too busy around early dinner time (weekday at 7pm). Yummy, would recommend!

"Pretty good, I'd definitely go back" you should order Hot and Spicy wontons & Crabmeat and Pork Xiao Long Bao. It was Saturday night, I was craving some dumplings and wanted to try somewhere new. Stumbled into Excellent Dumpling House and was greeted and sat immediately. It's a bigger place, with some bigger tables to accommodate bigger parties. We ordered a Sapporo each and hot sake to look over the menu. Menu was pretty big and had lots of options. We ordered the Hot and Spicy Wonton, Crabmeat and Pork Xiao Long Bao, and two specials including the Dan Dan noodles with duck and the honey walnut shrimp. The wontons and the XLB were both amazing. I wanted to order more, but we ordered a lot of food. The shrimp were really good and had big candied walnuts, couldn't stop eating them. The Dan Dan noodles were also not bad, but I wish there had been bigger pieces of duck.

This really takes you back to 1980's Chinese restaurant in a big city feels. Pros: - Massive portions - Tasty meals - Fun 1980's vibes - Everything was "to the point" - Something for everyone Cons: - Spicy chicken lo mein wasn't spicy (for me I guess). I was expecting it to be immediately spicy or a build-up heat and it wasn't. - Servers are a tad rude.I had that they want you in and out feeling. This placed was almost across from our hotel we were staying at. We wanted Chinese food, but didn't want to go all the way out to Chinatown because that's a nice little trek from Chelsea. Everything here was really solid. Nothing necessarily blew my mind - but that's okay. It was very, very good flavors/textures. This placed is no frills and I'll keep my review as such. I'd recommend it if you're in the area.

Love love love this spot! I came here twice so far and both times I ordered the scallion pancakes and soup dumplings and it's the best taste for the best price in Chelsea! Also the waiter we had was super attentive and nice to us and even spoke to us about his favorite dishes. (He usually has the orange chicken with the sauce on the side so it stays crunchy- I'm trying that next time!) we ordered the orange chicken and it was tasty and crunchy and I love the pineapples with the dish too. We also have the veggie dumplings which were a great deal too. Such a nice lowkey spot that gets busy on weekends but so worth it!!! I will be back!

An inconspicuous hole-in-the-wall joint that specializes in dumplings (apparently) and lunch specials (along with takeout). Cheap lunch specials $9.99 dine in. Twice cooked pork 回锅肉: 1/5 tbh I thought the waiter mistakenly brought my order bc it was unrecognizable. Not to mention it was extremely greasy. Chicken cutlet 鸡排 was very good and flavorful. Honestly I wish I got this. Potstickers were pan fried and were very good--homemade and lots of filling.

    Soup 7 Pieces Seafood Dumpling
    Tashfia N.

A no frills restaurant with some solid dumplings. We got the steamed shrimp dumplings and the seafood soup dumplings. The steamed shrimp dumplings were really good, shrimp inside was really tender and flavored well, and the dumpling shell itself was steamed just the right amount. The seafood soup dumpling was just okay, but the soup itself was pretty good and made up for it. Service was really quick even in the midst of having multiple tables occupied, our food came out in 10 mins

Pork Xiao Long Bao, shrimp dumplings, shu mai
    Melissa W.

Came on a Saturday for lunch before leaving on a flight home. Ordered a Peking duck spring roll, the pork XLB, shrimp dumplings, and shu mai. It was all tasty. Didn't have any issues getting a table at noon here for a group of 3. Service was fine from some and friendly from one guy. Kind of what I'd expect at a Chinese restaurant though. When I visit NY, I try to stay in/near Chelsea, so I'd definitely come back! The pork XLB here is BIG and has lots of soup! That was the highlight for me.

Dish highlights include the shrimp and chive dumplings, beef chow fun, and my personal favorite, the stuffed eggplant. Other items were a little bland, like the turnip cakes and har gow, and the pan fried shrimp noodles were awkwardly plated and made them difficult to eat. I also wish they had rice noodle rolls, which I didnt see on the menu. Really what pushed it to 5 stars to me was the service. We came as a huge group of 20, with a baby and stroller in tow, and they handled everything without so much as a grimace, just an outpouring of helpfulness. They sat half our group at a round table and the other half at a rectangular long table and also helped us navigate dietary restrictions, asking specifically who in the group had those restrictions. The menu is labeled too, so you know which items are vegetarian or gluten free. At one point our helpful server noticed we hadn't really touched that awkwardly plated noodle dish and offered to replace it with another. We didn't take him up on that as I'd find that wasteful but I thought that was so attentive and earned them a generous tip. The space is nice looking, and the food came out very quickly. We also didn't break the bank, even with plenty of drink orders. Dao's is an easy recommendation, especially when you factor in how seamlessly they handled our chaos.

I was browsing for places with scallion pancakes and I came across this restaurant. I saw they had a scallion pancake beef rook which I'd never seen before. It was fried and crispy on the inside with tender beef on the inside, that was slightly savory slightly sweet. I had the roll on its own, which made for a light meal, but it can also be enjoyed as a large snack. It was a little greasy, which can be expected, but not sure if I'd get it again. I did think it was innovative though. The most impressive thing about the restaurant was actually the space. I came to pick up my food and was surprised to see this beautiful place. The outside is unassuming and nothing special but inside has the aesthetic of an old Shanghai restaurant. It's ornate and slightly quirky. It's also really big, bigger than I expected. Even the bathrooms had traditional Chinese flare with the sliding doors. Definitely worth checking out,

Some of the most memorable dishes were the Mapo Tofu ($13.99), Hutaoli Roast Chicken ($43 for whole), Spicy Pot Potato ($19), Roasted Green Beans ($22), etc. All of the food is good, but definitely pricey. While the food also came out quickly, our drinks came out towards the end of our meal. It's a good spot for big parties as it never got too busy even on a Saturday night. They also have private rooms. The live music was fun, but also made it hard to have conversation.
