We wanted Chinese and the wait for this restaurant was not long. We were sat on the second floor next to the window. I loved it because you could see the snow outside. The server came by and she was a bit rude because we asked her to give us more time. We were still trying to figure out what we wanted to eat. We finally placed our order, and it was different menu items for us to try. The food came out really fast and it wasn't even hot. The rice was cold and the chicken was lukewarm like if it had been cooked already and just waiting to be served. The food had decent flavor, but it was it wasn't top notch. The best part of my meal was the hot tea that was delicious. We finished eating and we were trying to figure out where to go next and see what was close for us to do, and the server kept looking over at us and it seemed like she was talking about us because then we saw two other servers looking over at us. I felt rushed thinking that people were waiting to be sited, but as I walked out I saw that there was no one waiting.

Food came out very quick and hot and the service was attentative. All the dumplings were very authentic and delicious, although pricey relative to other dim sum places. The quality was definitely on par with some of the best. Probably the best congee that I have ever had in New York. The jellyfish was also exceptional. Besides the usual dim sum fare, I was pleased that they had other creative offerings, like the taro, cilantro, and pork dumplings. They did however miss part of my order although I was already full so didn't complain and wasn't charged anyway. I would have enjoyed having the shrimp, sausage, and chives dumplings. I definitely will return!

We came here for dinner and had a good time. The restaurant is relatively big with two floors, and we shared a large table with another party. Service was quick, and the food also came out timely. The food was all decent. Good flavor overall for every dish. I like the dim sum dishes a bit better. My only thing was that everything was a little too oily for my liking.

Found this place when we craved Dim Sum after a Broadway show. We loved everything. The dumplings were all fresh and tasty. And 4 orders of various dumplings were enough for me and my wife. Which means we got out of there under 40 bucks on the bill. It actually made us wish we had ordered some to go for the ride back to Philly.

Wow, I was surprised by how good this place ended up being. It is a little pricy but normal for the area. We got here around 11:30am on Saturday and were the first customers. The 2 of us shared 5 dishes and we were exploding by the end. The pu'er tea was good and with constant offers of refills. We had the turnip cake (crispy exterior and seasoned well), shrimp dumplings, beef noodle roll (bland, but good rice roll), sticky rice, and roast pork bun. The turnip cake was particularly good, and maybe the best I've had in NYC including Chinatown. The only complaint is that I wish they spaced out the food more so things didn't get cold, but small complaint. 5% discount for cash

Visited again for a second time and left with the same impression: satisfying meal, reasonably priced, decent service and overall very good.

Pork & Thousand Year Egg Congee. $8. Odd color and not too much century egg. Wouldn't recommend

This is one of the may locations of this dim sum chain and as per many recent reviews, I went here a good while ago with one of my more common food groups. We sat upstairs as our group size was pretty large and we tried a bunch of dishes with mostly dishes from the dim sum menu (though many of them are not dim sum) along with some others. They gave us tea of course which was refilled when necessary which needed to be steeped for a bit and was piping hot as per always. The Shredded Roast Duck Stir-Fried Turnip Cake With Shrimp in XO Sauce for $11.95 was our favorite bite of the evening. The turnip cakes had a wonderful slightly toasted yet bouncy texture with the XO sauce adding some good funk, some spice, and a light seafood flavor from the dried scallops/XO sauce. The duck on top was pretty tender for it being shredded. I would heavily recommend this. Each person also got one of the Palace Dim Sum Platters consisting of 8 pieces which was around $17 I believe. These included har gow/crystal shrimp dumpling, steamed shrimp, sausage, and chive dumpling, shrimp dumpling with mayo, taro, cilantro, and pork dumpling, chicken dumpling, and a spicy mushroom dumpling I believe and two others. It was a nice mix of textures with some chewier ones with the har gow being my preference of the bunch and of the shrimp ones. It was a solid mix. We also got some Pork and Shrimp Shumai for $7.50 which were very tasty. Nice and bouncy with a good texture from the shrimp primarily. The wrapper was also very thin so they were overall very tasty. I would recommend them. The Sticky Rice Lotus Wraps/Zongzi with pork, dried shrimp, and scallop for $7.95 wasn't as good. There was much more rice than filling and the pork inside was dry with the rice being a bit wet. Honestly, the ones sold by the woman in Chinatown are better than these and those are way cheaper and that should be the bare minimum. The Pork & Thousand Year Egg Congee for $8 wasn't my favorite either. The century egg flavor was much lighter than usual and the pork again wasn't the best. It was also oddly dark for a congee. I wouldn't recommend it much either. Outside of the overall good dim sum, a couple of the other dishes were very tasty outside of as mentioned the congee and zongzi. I'd go back to try more dim sum even if there's places I prefer.

Super interesting and delicious dim sum! What's unique is Dim Sum Palace's variety of dumplings that aren't usually offered elsewhere. We ordered the roast duck dumplings, taro cilantro and pork dumplings, pan fried chive and pork dumpling, turnip cake, and shrimp rice noodle roll. The duck and taro dumplings were incredibly flavorful, soft, yet had a satisfying bouncy texture. The turnip cake and pan fried chive dumpling were pan fried to perfection; usually at other dim sum restaurants the crisp is always lacking. Another plus is that they provide chili oil and soy sauce right off the bat! I'd skip on the shrimp rice noodle roll though as the texture of the noodle was surprisingly a bit dry/rigid, and the shrimp was overcooked. We came at an off hour so it wasn't too busy and service was pretty quick. There's pictures to the dimsum which are helpful, and you order directly on the paper menu. I'd definitely want to come back and try the other dumplings and dimsum.

Great food and service without having to go to Chinatown. We were seated quickly with reservations for a party of 6 and food came out fairly quickly. The dim sum choices are a variety and many of the options are traditional Cantonese. We sat upstairs where larger tables for groups are which is near bathroom as well. It's deceiving bigger than it looks from the outside. Just be careful of the hot tea because they come in glass pots which can be hot. Love that they offer tea choices though! Try the hot brown rice tea - so good!

Loved this! The staff were all great. The food was delicious. We ordered far too much to have comfortable bellies but they were happy bellies. The beef chow fun was amazing. The shredded fried duck turnip cakes were to die for. The scallion pancakes were very tasty. The bbq pork buns had amazing filling. You really can't go wrong here, but those were some of my favorites. I can't wait to come back here next time I visit.

NYC Chinese Food Woohoo! Tried a bunch of dishes from this place and I'm really glad I did. The fried rice was super flavorful, not dry at all, and had that perfect wok taste. The Mongolian beef was also great, tender, tasty, and cut into the perfect bite-sized pieces. I really liked their Dim Sum Soup too. The flavor and texture were on point. If I had one tiny suggestion, it would be to make the wrapper a bit thinner, but honestly, it was still delicious. I picked up the food and noticed they had an aquarium with live seafood you can order, which was a nice touch. Overall, great food and a solid experience. Definitely coming back.

Good experience with Dim Sum Palace Sunday. Tablecloth Chinese. Service is very fast. Soup dumplings were outstanding. Pan fried pork dumplings less successful. Pork and shrimp shumai were ok. Sesame chicken was not good, all whit smear chicken but no flavor. The pork chow fun was above par although the roast pork was shredded and it dried out. The pineapple crab fried rice was above average, needed more flavor. The star of the meal was the shredded beef with spicy sauce and broccoli, I will order this every time. Beef was tender and seasoned perfectly. No white rice is included with entrees. Hot tea is not included. We were on the ground floor, there is an upstairs dining room. I would go back for the beef dish in a second.

Good place and location in midtown when in the mood for dim sum...whether for lunch or for dinner... This is one of several locations in the city. Dim sum is good here and staff is friendly. Dim Sum Palace is one of the places I go to frequent enough for dim sum (any time of day) without a need for reservation or wait. Sat once downstairs and another time upstairs where it was much warmer esp in the cold weather. For big parties, highly recommend making reservations. Beverages - they have cocktails, bar menu and tea, soda, to choose from. Their cocktails are good. Prosecco is also good. For a cold day, a pot of hot tea to share is also good to stay warm. The dim sum menu is great - they have pictures of all the food items (no food carts going around), so you know what the food looks like. Just put the quantity next to how many of the dishes you want. My staples here: scallion pancakes, shumai (shrimp and pork), steamed pork buns, pork soup dumplings (to share) Pan fried turnip cake is good to share Main dishes: Order a noodle dish or other dish. General Tso's chicken is good (authentic) Dessert: Coconut bar -- my favorite dessert if I am not too full! Pay in cash or credit card... cash is better for them. If charging with credit card, there is an additional % added. Restrooms are unisex.

We went straight for their signature deep fried garlic chicken and decided to share the Peking duck--and both dishes were beautifully presented and packed with incredible flavor. The chicken, in particular, was crispy, aromatic, and absolutely delicious, though it's worth noting you'll want to be a bit careful as there are quite a few small bones throughout. The Peking duck was equally impressive, cooked perfectly with rich, satisfying taste in every bite. You can really tell the kitchen puts care into both quality and presentation. On top of the food, the staff were adorable and welcoming, making the whole experience even more enjoyable. The ambiance felt warm, lively, and comfortable--perfect for a relaxed meal in Chinatown. Overall, a fantastic dining experience with standout dishes and great energy. Definitely a spot I'd come back to.

Uncle Lou is a Cantonese restaurant that also serve Dim Sum dishes. The business name reference Chinese culture of calling adults "uncle" (suk1 suk1, 叔叔) or "auntie" (aa3 ji4, 阿姨) is a polite, common way to show respect, build connection, and bridge generational gaps. It treats non-relatives like family, making strangers feel younger and fostering closeness. The atmospheric decor contains very beautiful Chinese lanterns suspended from the ceiling throughout the restaurant. I believe it is decorated for Lunar New Year throughout the entire year. No comment for facility as I did not utilize. Customer service is average attentive and the staff is fluent in both English and Cantonese. I did not have to wait long to be served nor request the bill, and neither attain change. I often dine alone as a single woman and was regarded with respect for patronizing. It is always good to hear Cantonese spoken as it is mellifluous... at long last to continue this vernacular of Chinese language. I ordered in a mixture of both English and Cantonese. I was promptly seated by the maître d' promptly for a table. Melamine/plastic chopsticks in neon green and ceramic / porcelain china including ceramic Chinese soup spoon are distributed to customers while dine-in. A traditional teapot is also distributed during the duration of meal like large banquet hall Dim Sum restaurants. The large round tables contain a rotating lazy susan in traditional Chinese restaurant standard. Wow. No disposable wooden chopsticks and no disposable bowls for utensils are distributed at Uncle Lou. Price is slightly high, but worth the food quality and customer service. Uncle Lou did surely feed me! Shrimp Wonton noodle soup, Ho fun (flat rice noodles), shrimp based broth, $14.95 The bowl is gargantuan and the six (6) dumplings are good size portion served in ceramic / porcelain china. There are Chinese vegetable of one strand choi sam (choy sum) and scallions. The shrimp Wonton dumplings are a good size and good consistency. The soup broth is solid for flavor and consistency. It was served piping hot as steam was visibly emitting. The soup broth was slightly heavy. The flat rice noodles were sufficient for quantity. Noodle soup is Chinese comfort food and warms the heart. It sustained my hunger pangs throughout the day. Upon arrival the wait staff prominently announce to inform customers of 9% discount for cash payment and a 3% additional surcharge or fees for any credit/debit card payment for situational awareness. I was informant and made fully aware twice: upon entry when seated and upon receiving the bill. Uncle Lou complies with "Prohibition of Cashless Establishments, as of March 21, 2026, all retail and food establishments in New York State, including New York City, must accept in-person cash payments, banning fully cashless stores." (source: Department of Consumer Affairs (DCA), Local Law 34 of 2020). Oh! For small amounts of purchases, my default payment method is cash. Yes, cash is still widely accepted in the 21st century. Nota Bene: Have cash on hand to avoid annoying surcharge or fees. The bill is calculated and manually handwritten the old school way still a timeless classic. I paid my bill in cash including gratuity. No comment for Apple Pay or Google Wallet (formerly Android Pay/Google Pay) either acceptance or price differential vs. cash.

I can't exactly say that I loved all those changes either. The chicken was just like the salt and pepper chickens at other Chinese places. The jam that came with it alongside with the biscuits were what made them special. I personally was not a fan of the jam. I could not really put my finger on what it was that I was nitpicking on but I did not touch it much. The biscuit was a hit. Even my picky daughter was into it and kept asking for more. I expected it to be a dryer biscuit but I am not complaining. Maybe just a bit crumblier than I expected. It was good. The fried rice was it's grains and how its absorbed it's sauce. It kind of reminded me of risotto. It was ok, good, but it was not a favorite. Old man chiu and the landlady. They were good. My colleague and I each ordered one and then ended up swapping to suit our tastes. Its one of the benefits of eating with others. Would I visit again? It was so nostalgic, the way my grandmother would have made it. The lamb chops were perfectly tender without being too gamey. On special occasions, we get the stir fry lobster. It's the kind of dish you'd expect at a Chinese wedding banquet. Celebratory, messy in the best way. You could build a whole feast here just from banquet classics. Pro tip: if you're rolling with a small party, book one of their private rooms with a karaoke setup. Eat, sing off key and pretend you're at a family wedding without the formalities. Congee Village isn't trying to be anything it's not. And that's why I keep coming back.
