This is a great place for authentic chinese food. There is a bit of wait but we got seated sooner than we expected. The decor is on point and portions are family style. We started with egg drop soup and calamari. For mains we got sweet and sour pork, stir fried green beans, and crispy noodles with beef. Egg Drop Soup- Deliciously creamy and silky. This hits on a cold day. Calamari- Nice chewy calamari pieces with a crisp breading. You get a strong black pepper flavor that gives it a little zing. Sweet and Sour Pork- Crispy deep-fried pork pieces that were tender and juicy. The sauce is the perfect blend of sweet and tangy. Very tasty. Stir-fried Green Beans- This was wonderfully fresh. You still get a light crunch out of the beans and a garlicky finish. Crispy Noodles with Beef- Noodles were delightfully crisp with a savory sauce. The beef pieces were tender. Overall flavors and textures were lovely. Great experience overall!

This lap cheong bamboo baked rice is my dream meal for under $11!! Congee Village s a longtime chinatown staple (30 years strong!), serving family style cantonese dishes, dim sum, congee, and rice at reasonable prices. We also get a free mung bean sweet soup at the end. I've been to their Flushing location for dim sum before, but their entrees are even better imo. *Chinese Sausage Bamboo Baked Rice 金銀臘腸燉飯 $10.95 ** Such amazing value! So much lap cheong (chinese sausage/臘腸) and lap yuk (chinese cured bacon/臘肉) piled on top of seasoned rice. The rice soaked up all the oil from lap cheong and the sauces. *Sha Cha Beef and Vermicelli in Casserole 沙茶牛肉粉絲煲 $22.95 ** Almost every table ordered a casserole, and I was surprised by how much beef they packed in. The vermicelli noodles held onto the sauce well. Easily a "rice thief" dish *Sampan Congee 荔灣艇仔粥 $8.50 * The congee came out boiling hot. It was velvety, and loaded with toppings like shredded duck. Definitely eat it fresh though, because the heat from the clay pot makes the bottom start to stick together quickly. *Sauteed Lobster with Sticky Rice 糯米炒龍蝦 $48.95 (MP) * Many people rave about their lobster sticky rice online. It came with so many huge chunks of lobster so you can get your money worth it. There might be more lobster than sticky rice. It was also easy to pick the meat out with just a fork. *Fried Squid with Salt and Pepper 椒鹽鮮魷 $18.95 I wish it had a bit more salt and pepper, but otherwise the fried batter was thin and crispy. I've also never seen fried squid come in such huge, meaty pieces! *Honey Walnut Shrimp 核桃蝦球 $24.95 Skip. Walnut shrimp is usually a go-to, but this one was just okay.

Classic spot for large groups with authentic Chinese food. Their dim sum are all great, along with the pork chops, walnut shrimp, fried rice, scallion pancakes. I love the scallion stir fried fish. They have large round tables with Lazy Susans for big groups. We were here for a birthday party, and my friend called ahead to make a reservation but when we got here, they didn't have any records of the reservation! Make sure to confirm several times I guess.

I love Congee Village! There's a reason why this place is so popping. The food isn't the most amazing thing you'll taste and the service isn't always top notch, but that doesn't mean this place isn't my favorite spot in Chinatown. Here, you'll pay very little for a huge gathering, delicious family style food, and fantastic memories. They have karaoke downstairs and the best congee you'll get in nyc. Overall, love this spot and will come here for every birthday going forward

The fried chicken with garlic - signature chicken dish - must try it

Food is excellent. Service is good and very affordable!! We had Peking pork chops with sauce, some dimsum which are not in the photo, their specialty fried chicken with crisp skin without any batter but has garlic sauce, pea-shoot as vegetables and 2 rice in bamboo with chicken and mushroom. We also had congee. But that I do not recommend. Although it is smooth unlike other congee I have had.

The outside and inside are two very different vibes. When looking from outside, you'd imagine this place to be a gambling den with the palm tree neon lights and ramen bowl LED sign shining down at you. However, after walking in you're welcomed with a bustling ambiance and attentive servers. I'd highly recommend coming here with a larger group of friends, so you can enjoy one of the large booths and share more of the food together. Might not be the best place for just you and your significant other. We really love this place and it gives you a warm feeling, almost like home, and we always come back whenever we're looking for some comfort food. Highly recommend checking it out and definitely a great place to be at to kick off a night out.

Chinese banquet dishes were decent better than hop lee at MINIMUM but nothing that good. The market rate fish was CRAZY expensive for not a lot. 85 for a small fish. Dishes I liked: beef chow fun but I always like this. Lamb chops was pretty good. Lobster fried rice was fine. But could've used more rice? Dishes I didn't like: sweet and sour pork was wayyyyy too sweet and sour. Walnut Shrimp was fine but could've been sweeter and more mayo. Whatever oxtail dish we had I hated. Great place for big groups tho!! + karaoke so it was fun!!

The seafood tofu dish, mushroom rice cake, braised chicken, congee, and yuchoy were all nicely seasoned and just well done. Overall a great family meal! Things came over very fast.

The ideal Chinatown dinner spot. My group of 8 came on Christmas Day for the second year in a row. We called two weeks in advance to book the table, which I would recommend if you're looking for a reservation. The menu is expansive but they do it all so well. You can't go wrong with a noodle dish or the sautéed vegetables. It was a busy day so they were sold out of a few dishes when we got there at 7 pm, inlcuding the peking duck. We got: - Sautéed snow pea leaves with garlic - Green beans with garlics - Beef chow mein with vegetables (my favorite, big portion, we had leftovers.) - House special chicken with garlic (in place of the peking duck, this was my first time getting and it's so savory and addicting with plenty of garlic chunks) - honey walnut shrimp (must get) - chicken fried rice - sautéed rice rolls with XO sauce We had one issue where the first dish that came out wasn't correct but they quickly took it back once I flagged that. Great for a big group, the restaurant is huge and I need to come back more during the year, especially to check out their karaoke area.

Lots of tasty ingredients in the herbal soup.

My mom and I decided to stop by for dinner after checking out an art exhibit in the area. The atmosphere is absolutely beautiful by the waiting area and throughout the restaurant. The service is amazing. Most importantly, the food is delicious. The prices are a little bit higher than other restaurants, but I think it's worth the quality of the dishes. We will be back for more!

There's also an authentic Chaozhou (Teochew) restaurant in New York that's great for a late-night bite or dinner. Their congee, rice noodles, and noodle soups are all signature comfort dishes. And if you're a seafood lover, definitely try their chilled crab. 在紐約的正宗潮州菜館,凍蟹味道一流,但價錢也不便宜。

Shared a couple of things here with friends. Seafood congee: this had good seafood flavor and I'd get this again. You can get this small or medium size. The honey walnut shrimp was good too and the only thing I didn't like was the peanut 'dessert congee' at the end. It had cooked peanuts which is too soft.

"The Grand Ole Chinese Delights" I don't agree with my fellow Yelpers here. This is the real congee deal with fantastic Chinese accompaniments in a festive, decorated, yet old school setting. Between the many different flavors of conferee, lotus root, short rib, clams and more this is a great taste of Cantonese China! What's Great Wonderfully authentic, tasty and unique dishes not available in Manhattan Chinatown * Opulent decor with well outfitted tables perfect for a large group - Old school classic drink menu and cocktails - Bargain priced What could be Improved - Servers are over burdened but hard working. Sometimes food and drinks on iterative rounds may take a bit longer - Small beer selection

What times do they serve dim sum?

Can you bring your own wine and beer?

No they have their own full bar.

    Do they accept credit cards?

    Yes

    Are they open Christmas Eve?

    Yes we are!

Is there a diaper changing station in bathroom?

    Unfortunately, they don't have one.

Do they serve red bean porridge here?

Sometimes they serve complimentary tong sui (sweet dessert soup) after the meals and I've had the red bean one in the past. Recently it was a peanut sweet soup

Do they have any family style dinner sets?

Yes. You can ask for a big table

How much are the lobster sticky rice and crab fried sticky rice?

It's market price and depends on how many lobsters. Last time I went, I believe it was $40

Does this venue have any private rooms? If so how many do they seat?

The private room I was in can sit 20-25.

Does anyone have experience as a vegetarian at this restaurant?

There's lots to choose from as a vegetarian. In Chinese cooking they do use chicken or meat stock in sautéed vegetables and vegetable dishes. Just FYI

This second go around was a celebration dinner with my brother so we ordered quite a bit to share. For starters we had their crab rangoon, wontons in chili oil, and salt pepper wings. The rangoons were perfectly crisp but the filling just didn't impress me all too much. I love a good smack of green onion & crab, this one lacked both. Definitely not my favorite rangoons and only 3??? Hmm. The wontons were sublime though. They were nice and plump with a nice punch from the chili oil they bathe in. The chicken wings were pretty standard, I kinda wish there was more pepper on it. It was nice and salty but severely lacked pepper for being a pepper oriented dish. As for the General Tsos? YUM. This was great. The ratio of batter to chicken wasn't bad and it had such a great crisp. The actual General Tso sauce was perfect as well, I could not stop picking at this. The Shrimp Lo Mein was also fantastic, very smoky which I'm a sucker for. The shrimps were perfectly cooked as well and the noodles..... bouncy umami goodness. Delicious food, decent prices, great service I should add. In Chinatown, you learn that hospitality is entirely optional. Here though, they are welcoming and communicate very well with you. Our waiter and the hosts were especially lovely on this night. For next time, I'd pass on the crab rangoons and go for their crispy garlic chicken over the salt pepper wings. There will definitely be a next time though!
