The seafood tofu dish, mushroom rice cake, braised chicken, congee, and yuchoy were all nicely seasoned and just well done. Overall a great family meal! Things came over very fast.

Half chicken, shrimp, green beans

Must get the half chicken!! By far one of the best chickens ive had in the city. They do resys and walk ins. My group of 4 came in at 730pm on a Tuesday and waited about 15 mins before getting seated. Good prices and portions! There's many different floors here and i heard you can rent out one of the rooms for food + karaoke

Lots of tasty ingredients in the herbal soup.

My mom and I decided to stop by for dinner after checking out an art exhibit in the area. The atmosphere is absolutely beautiful by the waiting area and throughout the restaurant. The service is amazing. Most importantly, the food is delicious. The prices are a little bit higher than other restaurants, but I think it's worth the quality of the dishes. We will be back for more!

The fried chicken with garlic - signature chicken dish - must try it

Food is excellent. Service is good and very affordable!! We had Peking pork chops with sauce, some dimsum which are not in the photo, their specialty fried chicken with crisp skin without any batter but has garlic sauce, pea-shoot as vegetables and 2 rice in bamboo with chicken and mushroom. We also had congee. But that I do not recommend. Although it is smooth unlike other congee I have had.

Fish, lamb, fried rice

Chinese banquet dishes were decent better than hop lee at MINIMUM but nothing that good. The market rate fish was CRAZY expensive for not a lot. 85 for a small fish. Dishes I liked: beef chow fun but I always like this. Lamb chops was pretty good. Lobster fried rice was fine. But could've used more rice? Dishes I didn't like: sweet and sour pork was wayyyyy too sweet and sour. Walnut Shrimp was fine but could've been sweeter and more mayo. Whatever oxtail dish we had I hated. Great place for big groups tho!! + karaoke so it was fun!!

Beef Chow Mein with Chinese Vegetable

The ideal Chinatown dinner spot. My group of 8 came on Christmas Day for the second year in a row. We called two weeks in advance to book the table, which I would recommend if you're looking for a reservation. The menu is expansive but they do it all so well. You can't go wrong with a noodle dish or the sautéed vegetables. It was a busy day so they were sold out of a few dishes when we got there at 7 pm, inlcuding the peking duck. We got: - Sautéed snow pea leaves with garlic - Green beans with garlics - Beef chow mein with vegetables (my favorite, big portion, we had leftovers.) - House special chicken with garlic (in place of the peking duck, this was my first time getting and it's so savory and addicting with plenty of garlic chunks) - honey walnut shrimp (must get) - chicken fried rice - sautéed rice rolls with XO sauce We had one issue where the first dish that came out wasn't correct but they quickly took it back once I flagged that. Great for a big group, the restaurant is huge and I need to come back more during the year, especially to check out their karaoke area.

Shared a couple of things here with friends. Seafood congee: this had good seafood flavor and I'd get this again. You can get this small or medium size. The honey walnut shrimp was good too and the only thing I didn't like was the peanut 'dessert congee' at the end. It had cooked peanuts which is too soft.

There's also an authentic Chaozhou (Teochew) restaurant in New York that's great for a late-night bite or dinner. Their congee, rice noodles, and noodle soups are all signature comfort dishes. And if you're a seafood lover, definitely try their chilled crab. 在紐約的正宗潮州菜館,凍蟹味道一流,但價錢也不便宜。

Pork & Preserved Egg Porridge

"The Grand Ole Chinese Delights" I don't agree with my fellow Yelpers here. This is the real congee deal with fantastic Chinese accompaniments in a festive, decorated, yet old school setting. Between the many different flavors of conferee, lotus root, short rib, clams and more this is a great taste of Cantonese China! What's Great Wonderfully authentic, tasty and unique dishes not available in Manhattan Chinatown * Opulent decor with well outfitted tables perfect for a large group - Old school classic drink menu and cocktails - Bargain priced What could be Improved - Servers are over burdened but hard working. Sometimes food and drinks on iterative rounds may take a bit longer - Small beer selection

Congee Village is a fantastic place for large groups. It's a classic, round table seating with huge family style dishes that are all round good food. Of course, you have to get the congee. One bowl is enough to feed an entire family. If you want to splurge a bit, I highly enjoyed the lobster sticky rice -- the flavor really infuses with the rice and each bite is so umami. They do also serve sake and beer, so it's a decent place for a chill birthday dinner as well. Plenty of spots for going out afterwards if you want something a bit less chill.

Yummy love Congee Village forever! Their congee heals the soul and sparks the spirit. Feels like they had a price increase, but everything is still fair. My fav is their Preserved Egg with Pork Congee ($7.75 for one + tax). Adding any greens and chili oil makes this a comforting meal. A must-have. Get this to go x 2.

The outside and inside are two very different vibes. When looking from outside, you'd imagine this place to be a gambling den with the palm tree neon lights and ramen bowl LED sign shining down at you. However, after walking in you're welcomed with a bustling ambiance and attentive servers. I'd highly recommend coming here with a larger group of friends, so you can enjoy one of the large booths and share more of the food together. Might not be the best place for just you and your significant other. We really love this place and it gives you a warm feeling, almost like home, and we always come back whenever we're looking for some comfort food. Highly recommend checking it out and definitely a great place to be at to kick off a night out.

Large seating area - good for small and large groups Huge menu lots of options Service fast. No frills Food Best: honey walnut jumbo prawns + sautéed Chinese cauliflower with garlic (yum!) + pan fried lamb chops + duck Better than good: lobster with sticky rice + fried frog Good: beef chow fun + Manila clam with black bean sauce

Solid lunch option with a very satisfying menu! Some of the dishes are a bit pricey but they really hit the spot!

Is there a diaper changing station in bathroom?

It's market price and depends on how many lobsters. Last time I went, I believe it was $40

The private room I was in can sit 20-25.

Finally made it to Uncle Lou, often talked about as one of the best Cantonese spots in Chinatown,…read moreand it definitely lived up to the hype. We went straight for their signature deep fried garlic chicken and decided to share the Peking duck--and both dishes were beautifully presented and packed with incredible flavor. The chicken, in particular, was crispy, aromatic, and absolutely delicious, though it's worth noting you'll want to be a bit careful as there are quite a few small bones throughout. The Peking duck was equally impressive, cooked perfectly with rich, satisfying taste in every bite. You can really tell the kitchen puts care into both quality and presentation. On top of the food, the staff were adorable and welcoming, making the whole experience even more enjoyable. The ambiance felt warm, lively, and comfortable--perfect for a relaxed meal in Chinatown. Overall, a fantastic dining experience with standout dishes and great energy. Definitely a spot I'd come back to.

Uncle Lou is a Cantonese restaurant that also serve Dim Sum dishes. The business name reference Chinese culture of calling adults "uncle" (suk1 suk1, 叔叔) or "auntie" (aa3 ji4, 阿姨) is a polite, common way to show respect, build connection, and bridge generational gaps. It treats non-relatives like family, making strangers feel younger and fostering closeness. The atmospheric decor contains very beautiful Chinese lanterns suspended from the ceiling throughout the restaurant. I believe it is decorated for Lunar New Year throughout the entire year. No comment for facility as I did not utilize. Customer service is average attentive and the staff is fluent in both English and Cantonese. I did not have to wait long to be served nor request the bill, and neither attain change. I often dine alone as a single woman and was regarded with respect for patronizing. It is always good to hear Cantonese spoken as it is mellifluous... at long last to continue this vernacular of Chinese language. I ordered in a mixture of both English and Cantonese. I was promptly seated by the maître d' promptly for a table. Melamine/plastic chopsticks in neon green and ceramic / porcelain china including ceramic Chinese soup spoon are distributed to customers while dine-in. A traditional teapot is also distributed during the duration of meal like large banquet hall Dim Sum restaurants. The large round tables contain a rotating lazy susan in traditional Chinese restaurant standard. Wow. No disposable wooden chopsticks and no disposable bowls for utensils are distributed at Uncle Lou. Price is slightly high, but worth the food quality and customer service. Uncle Lou did surely feed me! Shrimp Wonton noodle soup, Ho fun (flat rice noodles), shrimp based broth, $14.95 The bowl is gargantuan and the six (6) dumplings are good size portion served in ceramic / porcelain china. There are Chinese vegetable of one strand choi sam (choy sum) and scallions. The shrimp Wonton dumplings are a good size and good consistency. The soup broth is solid for flavor and consistency. It was served piping hot as steam was visibly emitting. The soup broth was slightly heavy. The flat rice noodles were sufficient for quantity. Noodle soup is Chinese comfort food and warms the heart. It sustained my hunger pangs throughout the day. Upon arrival the wait staff prominently announce to inform customers of 9% discount for cash payment and a 3% additional surcharge or fees for any credit/debit card payment for situational awareness. I was informant and made fully aware twice: upon entry when seated and upon receiving the bill. Uncle Lou complies with "Prohibition of Cashless Establishments, as of March 21, 2026, all retail and food establishments in New York State, including New York City, must accept in-person cash payments, banning fully cashless stores." (source: Department of Consumer Affairs (DCA), Local Law 34 of 2020). Oh! For small amounts of purchases, my default payment method is cash. Yes, cash is still widely accepted in the 21st century. Nota Bene: Have cash on hand to avoid annoying surcharge or fees. The bill is calculated and manually handwritten the old school way still a timeless classic. I paid my bill in cash including gratuity. No comment for Apple Pay or Google Wallet (formerly Android Pay/Google Pay) either acceptance or price differential vs. cash.

The menu is medium-sized, which I appreciate. It's big enough so that you have choices, but not so big that you feel overwhelmed. There was a twist in all their dishes that would make them different from other Chinese restaurants. They all tasted good but the small changes that they made to "upgrade" or to transform the dishes to make them more modern did not justify the price. I can't exactly say that I loved all those changes either. The chicken was just like the salt and pepper chickens at other Chinese places. The jam that came with it alongside with the biscuits were what made them special. I personally was not a fan of the jam. I could not really put my finger on what it was that I was nitpicking on but I did not touch it much. The biscuit was a hit. Even my picky daughter was into it and kept asking for more. I expected it to be a dryer biscuit but I am not complaining. Maybe just a bit crumblier than I expected. It was good. The fried rice was it's grains and how its absorbed it's sauce. It kind of reminded me of risotto. It was ok, good, but it was not a favorite. Old man chiu and the landlady. They were good. My colleague and I each ordered one and then ended up swapping to suit our tastes. Its one of the benefits of eating with others. Would I visit again? Not too certain about that but I would have people come and give them a try nonetheless.
