I got the 3 topping noodle soup with wontons, dace fishballs, and beef stew. The beef stew has an additional cost. It came with 2 pieces of wontons, 2 pieces of dace fishball, and a few scattered pieces of beef stew. For the beef stew topping - - there was one bit chunk of meat and the rest were mainly the beef tendon which was hard to chew. I did wish there was more meat. It was tender and flavorful. I like their wontons a lot too. It's a decent size, skin is thin, and it's meaty with the shrimp and pork. However, I did not like their dace fishball as much. Not my favorite in terms of texture, I personally wouldn't get it again.
Kudos on how delicious the dumplings and noodles are here at Maxi's. The staff is all welcoming and very helpful to guiding you to what you should get which is good. There are plenty of pictures along the wall and a menu. I knew what I wanted and I just pointed to the picture and I got it right away. The soup was hot and all the right condiments on the table. I like to use red vinegar with my noodles. Washroom is only 1 and usually there is a line. Other than that, I love the food here and will come back for more. Highly recommend.
No wait and decided to give it a try after seeing this place on Instagram. Order the wonton and beef tendon with noodle soup and wonton and fish ball with soup. The wonton is huge, 95% is shrimp and 5% pork. The fish ball added too much pepper, it lost the fish taste. The beef tendon is soft that melts your mouth but too much five-spice powder which ruined the soup base which made the soup base stronger and saltier. Usually, other restaurant will give you 2-3 pieces of veggies but this place, you have to add $3. If you use credit card, there will be additional 3% fee.
When we saw that there's no line for Maxi's Noodle on this warm Sunday afternoon, we quickly snagged a table for our family. Inside was still packed; only one table for the four of us. As soon as I saw down, I was drawn by the "menu" on the wall with images and prices for the items. We quickly decided that we want to sample various popular items, although it still took a while to determine the combinations. We ended up ordering wonton noodle with beef stew, triple combo soup with wonton, dumpling, and dace fish ball, and a dace fish ball with fried fish skin lo mein. Growing up, wonton noodle soup is one of the top Cantonese comfort foods. The juxtaposition between the pillowy wrapper and the plump juicy interiors of shrimp and pork is simply comforting. The execution here at Maxi? Exemplary! The wrappers were pillowy and almost translucent. A bite into them reveals a copious amount of shrimp and pork filling. Then, you get that flavorful soup with each bite of the wonton, just pure bliss. The dumplings here are also a lot more plump with fillings than those at dumpling houses that are found in Chinatown. These dumplings definitely refuse to let the wontons have all the spotlight. The rest of the items were just as delicious. The dace fish balls here were far superior compared to those found in freezer aisles. The texture is nicely balanced and not too chewy. The beef stew was tender and full of flavor. The fish skin was light and crispy. Although the restaurant is on the cozy side, the friendly and attentive service made the place more welcoming. If there's no line outside, grab yourself a seat and treat yourself to some top notch Cantonese comfort food here.
The best comfort food and so yummy and good! After hearing all about the rave on Maxi's noodle, I had to check this place out. I got the one topping egg noodle soup that had the egg noodles and wontons inside. The wontons were big and filled with shrimp which I love. The soup noodle itself tasted perfect - not overly heavy and just right in terms of flavor. Also got the curry fish ball which is always yummy. It does get busy but things move fast and you can get a seat without waiting too long. Service is also good and they bring you your food pretty quickly.
Heard about this noodle shop in Flushing but didn't realized they have a branch in NY chinatown. When i pass by into one i did Not hesitate to come in! Came after lunch time on a weekday & lucky to have a table right away. My order came fast, piping hot & oh so delicious. Taste different from the noodles i use to order but still good. I would definitely come back to try other combination of toppings. I took Out one star, because although my server was nice & efficient, there was one lady who was loud. She took her break in one of the table while i was there & was carrying on full conversation with her co workers like its her living room. Kind of distracting when you are trying to savor your soup in peace. Would still come back though, ill just bring earplugs next time
Maxi's apparently has the best wontons in town, and the long lines seem to validate that. I've been wanting to try it for a while, but the weekend lines are always ridiculous. My wife and I finally went on a Monday and, surprisingly, there was no line. I got the beef tendon with wontons and my wife got the beef stew with wontons. I also ordered a side of imitation shark fin soup. The shark fin soup was exactly what you'd expect, with a nice touch of sesame oil. But the real star is the wontons. They are very bouncy, packed with shrimp, and I can see why people are such big fans. Was the bowl of noodles earth shattering? No, but it was simple in a good way and everything was done well. The beef tendon was tender too. It is probably one of the pricier bowls of noodles in Chinatown, but I think it was worth it. The other unspoken star is the chili oil, which is fantastic. I liked it enough to buy a jar to take home. I'd definitely come back, but only if I don't have to wait in a long line.

This noodle shop has been on Yelp bookmark "to try" for sometime because noodle soup is Chinese comfort food and always a staple in Chinese homes. Maxi's Noodle 3 is known for their gargantuan wonton dumplings and Hong Kong style cuisine. Customers can choose the noodle type duck egg noodle, flat rice noodle, Vermicelli, or Udon. Customers then select one, two or three protein(s): shrimp and pork wonton; shrimp, pork, vegetable dumpling, Dace fish ball, Ja-Jiang pork strips in sweet sauce and mushrooms, fried fish skin, beef stew, or beef tendon. This is a simple small cafe with very poor lighting which strained my eyes. My photos of my dinning experience appeared very yellow background from the dated incandescent lighting. This business lighting does not contain modern LED lighting. I did obtain my sales receipt for keepsake. Business cards are available for grabs and it is very unique shape of a Asian girl listing their Flushing, Queens, NYC locations. Takeout menu are also available for grabs. Customer service is average and the staff is fluent in both English and Cantonese. It is still very good to hear Cantonese spoken as it is mellifluous... at long last to continue this vernacular of Chinese language. I ordered in a mixture of both English and Cantonese. I was seated by the hostess promptly for a table. The staff is accommodating with patience and tolerance, I dine alone as usual, but was talking on my phone with a friend. Price is reasonable. Udon noodle wonton soup, $13.25 I chose one protein topping of shrimp and pork wonton. There are four (4) gargantuan dumplings. The Udon noodles were sufficient quantity, but I always hope and desire for more. It was served in a plastic disposable container bowl. The wonton and noodles were delicious. Four stars, the broth was very mediocre for being bland. It did not contain any flavor for noodle soup. There were no scallions or any vegetables. It was served in a plastic disposable bowl with plastic disposable spoon and wooden disposable chopsticks as utensils. Disposable utensils are seemingly cheap and depict poor standards for a small dine-in cafe experience with wait staff. Jasmine lime green tea, cold $4.60 This tea was good quality. The lime was not overpowering strong, but subtle taste. I actually tasted green tea which I preferred. It was served chilled, but no ice. I am a native New Yorker and prefer ice in drinks who mirror a broader American obsession with icy beverages especially during the stifling hot humid summer months. There are several large fresh lime embedded in this drink. Amid, Maxi's Noodle 3 is not a bubble tea business thus, I lowered my expectations. Nota Bene: Credit/debit card payment is additional 3% charge. The menu (both dine-in and takeout) lists separate prices for cash and "CC" for credit card. No comment for Apple Pay or Google Wallet (formerly Android Pay/Google Pay) either acceptance or price differential vs. cash. I paid my bill in cash including gratuity. At the bottom of the sales receipt there is a suggested gratuity in intervals of 15%, 18% and 20% where customers do not have to perform math calculation.
First I want to acknowledge how friendly the service was at Maxi's on Mott. It was as if I was walking into a fine dining experience, everyone was focused on making sure all of the diners were enjoying their dinner. I had the wonton, dumpling, and stewed beef noodle soup and added gai lan (Chinese broccoli) for health. The noodles were perfectly cooked, and both the pork and shrimp wontons and dumplings were incredibly flavorful. I would say that the broth could use a little more depth but not enough to impact the rating.
The wontons here are some of the best I've tasted in NYC. They are so plump and juicy and packed with fresh and flavorful shrimp. I like to have the duck egg noodles with the noodle soup, but my friend got the flat rice noodles. The broth is heartwarming and hot and the food comes out very fast. I really enjoyed their chewy and tender beef tendon in my noodles as well. The Curry Fish Balls are also bouncy and fresh and not too spicy. Service was excellent. The waiters recommended we get vegetables on the side, but we decided not to. They refilled our water often and also brought extra chili oil to our table. There's one bathroom inside. If you pay with cash, it's cheaper.

After hearing raving reviews of the wontons from this spot, I had to check it out when I was in Chinatown. Maxi's Noodle has three locations, with this spot being their first Manhattan location. They have plenty of seating inside, but limit dining time to 30 minutes during rush hours. Service is quick. We ordered their 2 item soup, both with dumplings and wontons. The size of their dumplings and wontons were absolutely huge. They were filled with shrimp, pork, and other fillings. Out of the two, I actually preferred the dumplings. Super comforting meal for a cold day.
Okay, so H calls this place Flushing Wontons, and H was the one that said they opened one in Manhattan. I mentioned I couldn't find a place with that name, and H finally sent a map location and it's called Maxi's. H really likes this place, but I wasn't sure if I trusted H's tastes since H prefers the lesser known Sydney based laksa over the more widely known one that I thought was the best. I checked out their menu and I was seeing the articles mentioning their wontons outside their store front and I wasn't convinced. I never had HK style wontons where I actually enjoyed eating them and I don't particularly enjoy the HK style egg noodles that usually pairs with them. I went in and I was trying to talk myself out of trying this place, since I said, if this place has a wait, I am leaving. But nope, I got seated right away and they said their known for their wontons and duck egg noodles. Can I tell you this place has totally changed my perspectives on HK style wonton noodles. It is seriously the best one I ever tasted and the broth was so good. Filling and noodles didn't have a weird after taste like most places I tried HK style from. I saw they sell the wontons frozen along with their chili sauce, and I even saw they sell their red vinegar. I have never seen any place selling red vinegar. I would think it is their homemade one, but didn't know that's a thing where restaurants make their own red vinegar. The only downside is the one-time use plastic. I don't like them and especially using them in overly hot liquids! Also, the place is narrow and so yeah, you can't bring a large crew here. The lady I had, she was super duper nice and amazing. But damn this place got me craving HK style now.
I saw a video about Maxi's Noodle on New York Times, and as someone who loves wonton noodle soup, I had to check out this place when I was visiting Manhattan. I came here around 11:30 AM on a Friday, and the restaurant was fairly quiet. The aunties servicing us were pretty nice. Also it was pretty cool that one of them could speak Taishanese as well. Anyway, I had to order their popular wonton noodle soup, and I added the beef stew and vegetables to the bowl. The bowl came out piping hot, and the wontons are just massive! The wontons were just packed with shrimp, and the flavor was just delicious. The beef was very tender, the broth wasn't heavy at all, and the noodles were bouncy. I honestly haven't even had a wonton noodle soup bowl as good as this back in my Los Angeles/San Gabriel Valley hometown. Yes the bowl can get a little pricey if you add in the vegetable and beef stew (came out to be about $19 total for everything), but I still think it was worth it. Taste was great and portions were good, and friendly service. I would definitely come back again to get a nice bowl of wonton noodles and try their curry fish ball next time. read more

Heard this place was one of the top places for noodles and although super simple, it was very tasty! The place is your typical NY style feel with lots of places to sit in a smaller area, but the service helped with turnover and how quickly we were able to eat and continue checking out Chinatown. The dumpling noodle soup was excellent. It reminded me exactly of a dumpling soup I had in Hong Kong. The noodles were delicious and the broth was flavorful. Went to Maxi's noodles in the late afternoon in the middle of the week when it wasn't too crowded and was seated right away. Had the Wonton, Dumplings and Beef Stew Noodle Soup. Excellent Wontons - big and great filling with a lot of shrimp. Dumplings were also good, Beef Stew a little dry but not bad. Solid meal in a no-nonsense friendly environment. read more

It was a bit too firm and chewy for my preference. Also, the portion is on the smaller side and.. I prefer not to eat from paper bowls and plastic spoons at a restaurant. Very tasty and filling chinese comfort meal. Came here after biking on Summer Streets and playing volleyball for 3 hours. Nothing hits the spot quite like Maxi's. I especially loved the fish balls too. Ambiance was no frills but very clean. Fast, efficient service. read more
Maxi's noodle was part of my family China town food crawl and it did not disappoint. I love wonton noodles and this hit the spot. Even my family from China approved it! The noodles are cooked perfectly and the key is adding in vinegar to dip in your noodles as you sip on the soup! That's my fave way of eating wonton noodles! The place is small and crammed and the service is similar to what you get in China - you're going to get fast and direct, so this is a true authentic experience! Would highly recommend! read more
Rating: 4/10 Date Last Visited: 8/13/2025 I ordered the Three Toppings Noodle Lo Mein with Wontons, Dumpling, and Ja-Jiang as my three toppings ($13.75). The noodles themselves were too chewy and undercooked for me, making it hard to eat. The ja jiang meat and sauce lacked flavor, and I regret getting that as one of my three toppings. The wontons and dumplings were great, but I was expecting more of them. The portion size was a bit smaller than I was expected. Overall, this place is alright but there's better options in Chinatown. read more

finally had a chance to visit maxi's noodle at their new chinatown location! I've always had this place on my list but never felt like venturing out to flushing for it so am very glad to see it is now in the neighborhood. we tried two of the popular items on the menu: (1) the wonton, dumpling, and dace fish ball noodle soup and (2) the wonton & beef tendon noodle soup. both were flavorful and were excellent with the chili oil that's on the table. the pricing was honestly a little difficult for me to follow on the menu, especially with the items like the beef tendon that had an extra charge on top of it. overall, the prices (while they sound a bit on the higher end) do seem reasonable with new york pricing these days. overall, if i were to return, i would probably just stick to the classic wonton noodle soup! I'm a sucker for a no frills noodle spot, so definitely had to pay a visit to Maxi's 3rd location! The location here is more compact with limited tables & seating, so be prepared to share tables if coming in as a solo diner. I ordered the beef stew & wonton flat rice noodles and the iced lemon tea. Per usual, Maxi never disappoints when it comes to their noodle soups and wontons. I only wish that I had maybe ordered the wonton noodles instead, since the flat rice noodles are the thinner ones that get a little mushy in soup. The beef stew portions were generous, and the wontons are massive. I also really enjoyed the lemon tea! Service is super efficient, friendly, and attentive. There's a CC surcharge, so recommend paying with cash if possible. I love being able to grab a quick filling lunch for less than $20, & be in and out within 30 mins. read more
After passing by many times and seeing waiting lines I finally got a chance to try Maxi's . ( January when tourists have left the city does have its advantages) The tables in were still mostly filled so I managed to get a deat in the front half of the dining room. Service is quick, friendly and very attentive. Menu is not largely overwhelming but there are many combinations you can make to customize your dishes. Choice of noodles - dry or with broth, meats and veggies. Of course the very famous dumplings which I will have to return to try. I was really craving noodles so I had the Udon noodle with Beef Stew and Chinese Broccoli. Im already craving this dish as I'm writing this review . The beef stew was absolutely delicious, tender and flavorful with quality beef. The noodles- perfection - bouncy and slightly chewy. My tummy was very satisfied on th8s cold day. Warm and comforting and homemade- what more could I need. They serve cold drinks and teas . They have Ribena - by itself or mixed with other flavors like lemonade. A variety of Asian snacks and staples arw sold at the front. Frozen dumplings are available for carry out . You can enjoy them at your leisure f4 home. The restaurants is nicely decorated too with 2 seater tables in the front section and larger tables in the back . Though not incredibly large it didnt feel cramped. There's a bathroom with funny signs on the wall. I noticed there was accessibility bar in the bathroom but I think the doorway to the bathroom is not wide enough to accommodate a wheelchair and neither is the space inside the bathroom. The front entrance also has 1 step that would hinder wheelchair access as well. Doorway (double) is narrow. This is the structure of these older buildings in China Town but just wanted to make others aware of the restrictions in case they are planning to visit . read more
Simple delicious food done right. You can't get more basic than wonton noodle soup in chinsee-cantonese cuisine. When done right it can feel like it heals the soul! The broth here at maxi's is just like kind of broth. I did upgrade the soup to a beef broth with tendon in it. It was listed as a customer favorite. The tendon meltdown in the mouth with just enough bounce back. The wonton was quite large and had a few pieces of shrimp in it! We also got the oyster sauce veggies which were basic and delicious. The service was quick and fairly friendly. The store inside is narrow and has seating for small to medium ( i would say max 6 ppl sized) parties. They also have a small clean bathroom that's give you a small confidence boost. read more
This place is really underrated. It's probably some of the best Wonton I've eaten. The noodle lacks a little bounce to them but still good. The soup is really flavorful and for $13 a bowl it's definitely worth it. The staff are all very friendly and the restaurant has plenty of seating. I'd definitely comeback again for another bowl of wonton noodle soup. You can skip the curry fish ball it's just ok. read more

Landed in JFK from a 2 week long trip in Africa & Europe, and pretty much immediately came here to get my Asian food fix. Needed those wontons and egg noodles to revive my soul. Ordered the wonton and beef stew noodle soup with egg noodles, curry fish balls, and some veggies. Wontons were large and had a great bite to them. Broth and noodles were perfect. Side notes: They have two prices, depending on card and cash (I'll be listing the cash prices only below in my review.) I would personally heavily recommend the wontons and dumplings. Having visited one of their Flushing locations a while ago and remembering how good their noodles and wontons were, I was looking forward to going to Maxi's ever since it opened. I have since been there twice, and while it is a bit more expensive than the other spots on the block, the quality (and size) of the wontons and dumplings makes up for it alone, along with their excellent noodles. Otherwise, the service is friendly, and they have a pretty solid HK Style Milk Tea, which is $4.60 for a 16-oz iced or $3.70 for a 12-oz hot version. You can also, of course, get this as a Yuenyeung, or a mix of said milk tea and coffee for the same price. The tea is boldly flavored and very lightly sweet, as it should be, with the mix being my preference, as the coffee adds a slight bitterness. Both times, I had the Three Toppings in Soup, which is $12.75. Both times, I ordered their most popular duck egg noodles with my first two topping choices, both times being the wontons and dumplings. In general, the noodles are wonderful, having a bit more of a chew compared to other egg noodles, almost reminding me of some northern Chinese noodles. The soup is not particularly notable otherwise, though their good chili oil helps. For the first time, my third topping was the Ja Jiang, or pork strips with sweet sauce and mushrooms, while the other time I got the Dace Fish Ball. In terms of the other toppings, the wontons are bouncy with plenty of plump shrimp and some pork as well, but my preference is the dumplings, which have the same wonderful bouncy texture but with added crunch from the vegetables. The Ja Jiang was alright with the pork not being too flavorful, outside of it being a tad too sweet. The dace was more to my liking with a light fishy flavor and a slight chew to it. Next time, however, I would have the beef stew instead. This is one of the better wonton and dumpling spots in the city, though next time, I would get the beef stew with them or just get said toppings. The excellent noodles and pretty good broth help as well. I'd definitely go back. read more
mmm delicious and succulent dumplings/wontons and comforting noodle soup! the menu is minimalist but everything is well done. I really enjoyed the subtle umami and lightness of the broth, as well as our steamed veggies. the food came very quickly and the aunties serving were friendly. there's ac inside so you can enjoy a hot bowl of noodles even on a warm day! my one small gripe was serving the hot soup in plastic bowls/spoons, which isn't super environmental for sit in / probably not great for health. would come back again! read more
I am so excited that Maxi's Noodle opened their third location in Manhattan as I never managed to venture out to Flushing. It was a rainy night and some heartwarming noodle soup was just what I needed. We came in half an hour before closing and they welcomed us in, but did rush us to order ASAP. I ordered the 2 Topping Egg Noodle Soup ($11.75) with Wonton and Beef Stew. They also have a homemade chili, vinegar, and white pepper condiments on the table for you to add. Let me just say that the wontons are where it's at here. Wow, they are huge and completely filled with pork and shrimp. The stew beef is also very tender and flavorful. I wish they added some greens to the noodle soup, but such a heartwarming meal. The restaurant is pretty narrow and tiny with tables all close to each other. I would recommend coming here with no more than 4 people, but best for 1-2 patrons. It's no wonder Maxi's Noodle have opened their third location --it's popular for good reason with their hefty wonton and dumplings. read more
Friend recommended this and happy to find a location in Manhattan since he gave me the Flushing location. Opted for to-go since it was near closing and got the noodle soup with wontons and beef stew w/ tendon. Asked for chili oil and vinegar as well. It was so good! Even as to-go it was hot enough where I didn't even need to microwave by the time I got back (~15min walk back to my lodging). Beef stew & tendon was very flavorful, soft and tender. Wontons were HUGE and shrimp was nice and bouncy. Skin of the wonton was also very thin. Noodles and soup ratio were great - just right for me. The only downside was there is no chinese broccoli and any greens in the noodle soup. The chili oil they gave had a great kick - perfect pairing for the wontons! I wanna go back when I visit NY next time - it was one of my favorite meals. So comforting and yum, happy I got to try it. Pro tip: if you pay with cash it's slightly cheaper. A little on the pricier side for the brisket wonton noodle soup, but the food was excellent. It was also very clean and spacious because we had our 4 month old with us. The servers were so nice and accommodating since we had our stroller and made enough space between the tables. They were very interactive with him which was nice, like family. The brisket was tender and the wontons were huge, packed with shrimp. The broth was also very good. Also tried the curry fish balls which were a nice snack. Will be back! read more
Flavorful wontons & egg noodles. Perfect comfort food. I personally preferred the soup form, because you can add the vinegar and sauces into the broth soup. But both soup and dry were good. Be sure to add the side sauces & white pepper -- definitely adds an extra element to the flavor profile. ;) read more
This popular Hong Kong based shop has quick service and delicious food! It's quite popular and can get crowded so be sure to look at the menu ahead of time as they seem to be in a bit of a rush. The food comes out pretty quick too! Their wontons are larger than your typical sized but packed full of flavor and very tender. I opted for their wonton soup with zha jang which is like a meat sauce and I loved how rich the dish was. The noodles were silky smooth and perfectly slurpable. The soup itself is so comforting and I finished the entire bowl quicker than I realized. I definitely would come here for a quick meal or even for takeout. Can't wait to return! read more
