Dinner here was really good overall and a solid experience from start to finish. I went with the sesame chicken and steamed white rice, which was exactly what I wanted. I also tried pork buns for the first time. It was not really my favorite, but it was still flavorful. My friend had the steamed sea bass, which was cooked perfectly and came with a really nice, tasty sauce. Service was excellent. Our waitress was very sweet, patient, and attentive, offering recommendations and explaining the menu without being overbearing. They start you off with Chinese tea and a small plate of peanuts, which is a nice touch--but if you have a peanut allergy, make sure to let them know right away since it's placed on the table automatically. The meal ends with fresh cantaloupe, which was ice cold, sweet, and a refreshing finish. The restaurant itself is a nice size with reasonable prices. We went on a Saturday night and there was no wait. It could use a bit of sprucing up, but it was clean and comfortable. Authentic dim sum restaurants are hard to come by in NJ, unless you venture to Central Jersey. So when I found Qin Dynasty in North Jersey, I was willing to make the trek - especially since I had a dim sum craving one weekend. We got there at around 11 on a Saturday. It was crowded but not packed yet. We were seated right away (your whole party needs to be there). There are so many options for dim sum - some that you don't even typically see in Brooklyn/Chinatown. For example, I saw some lobster tails, and a giant cheesy oyster that looked really good but I'm sure they were $$$. We stuck to the dim sum basics - ha gao, shumai, beef churng fun, chicken feet, chicken sticky rice, steamed cha siu baos, and tofu pudding. I don't have any complaints about the dim sum. All were good and some were even better than ones in NYC. And let me tell you - they do not skimp on the meat here. The ha gaos and shumais were so plump! Since it's a rarity that we get to have authentic Chinese food, we also ordered the salted fish and diced chicken fried rice, and the pan-fried noodles with beef. Both were good and had lots of meat. Service was surprisingly attentive - unlike in NYC where it takes forever to flag down a waiter. Our waiter was always nearby and seemed happy to help with our requests of water, chili oil, etc. I think we might have found our go-to Cantonese restaurant. Came here for dimsum on Saturday and was part of a very large group. The servers were attentive to table needs and the carts were in heavy rotation in the semi-private room on the side, which was great since the dimsum was so delicious. The great thing about eating dimsum in an 18 person group is that you get to try everything in a happy, non-rushed environment. So many dumplings, rice noodles, seafood and sweet dishes to choose from. I loved the rice noodles with beef and also with shrimp, the baked roast pork buns, sesame balls, shumai ... the list goes on. I don't usually get dessert but the mango and coconut puddings were so good. I also liked the egg tarts. It was a very genuine experience and I'm glad I got to try. When you first walk in, you are transported (a little) back in time. It's authentic and has an old-world charm to it and I am HERE for it. Hubby and I came here for lunch during the week, and once the hostess seated us we were immediately given a menu and a teapot from our server (all within a minute - they were quick!). After debating over the menu for a bit, we decided: - Steamed Pork Soup Dumplings - Beef Balls - Vegetarian Crispy Rice Noodle Roll - Steamed Shredded Duck Dumplings - Pan Fried Chives Cake - Turnip Cake All in all, that was one of the best Chinese food experiences that I've had in a LONG time. It definitely has a bit more of the old school dimsum vibes, serving up classics like tofu pudding & mango pudding in the push carts. We honestly weren't expecting much but the dimsum & chow mein here were decent! The churng fun is made really well - the rice roll is thin. I had a unique experience at Qin Dynasty. Came here with my extended family to celebrate a birthday. To do so, we came in at an odd time (not peak hours) to fit a large party. We ordered a set meal and the food kept coming out one after another. Just when I thought it was the last entree there was more! There was plenty of variety but I wouldn't say there was any mind blowing dish. We had every thing from har gow to Peking duck to fried sweet pork chops. Lobsters and fried fish and also honey nut mayo shrimp were also on the menu. I enjoyed it all. I never really eat lobster so I will say that and the mayo glazed fried shrimp were my favorites. I will say it's a solid place for this style of food. Some of the food came out room temperature but they were very efficient reorganizing what's on the table to fit even more food. On weekends you can have the full dim sum cart experience (popular & crowded), but if you miss it, fear not, you can also order many items a la cart at other times. Love the casseroles too. The cuisine is Cantonese-Chinese and is cooked well. Usually a lengthy menu puts me off, but it's not atypical with traditional Chinese restaurants, and the quality and value here are both on point. Even my finicky dad approves - this is one of his favorite Chinese restaurants in northern NJ and my parents have been to probably all the ones worth going to in the area. Easily the best & my personal favorite restaurant in Parsippany without a doubt. Qin dynasty has the unique dim sum cart rolling throuhg their restaurant every weekend starting at 10am sharp. To be completely honest -- I thought this was weird but Qin Dynasty is honestly a different animal & so delicious they could honestly hang me upside down & feed me -- I would still keep coming back. Ok the service is just that, there are staff that roll around a dim sum cart & if you don't speak mandarin then you can simply point & ask, if you're a rookie, good luck because this might be a tad advanced for your liking but trust me it's such an incredible experience & non-stop delicious dim sum. I believe they are BYOB but honestly at 10a on a saturday morning that's probably the last thing i've ever wanted with my dim sum but you can ask & probably bring some breakfast beers if that's your style. Other than that, the ambiance is beautiful -- traditional asian restaurant with a wall of live seafood that you can most likely pick then eat later in your meal. The start of the show is easily the dim sum -- if you like the traditional varieties and even the unique standard dim sum then this is 100% your spot, show up a few minutes early so you can secure a good seat at the start of the cart route to get the most fresh & so you don't have to wait so long without the carts running out! Walked in to Qin Dynasty expecting to have our usual meal of traditional dim sum, which is always delicious and very reasonably priced. That quickly changed, though, when our son convinced us to order a King Crab for the table. And golly, am I glad we let him steer us. I've certainly had King Crab legs before but never a full crab. Our waitress could tell we were newbies and expertly guided us through ordering. All of the live seafood is in tanks on the back wall and they roll out your pick for your table to inspect. There were 5 of us - we went for the smallest crab they offered - 8.5 lbs. The kitchen prepared it three ways for us, on our waitress' recommendation: sautéed with ginger, soy, and scallions; steamed with garlic atop fresh wide noodles; and finally chunked in a delicate egg custard. The meal was righteously good. The sautéed pieces with ginger and scallions were subtly sweet, full of spice and flavor, and oh so deliciously fragrant. The steamed pieces were perfectly opened for us so that we could pull the meat right out. It literally melted in your mouth. The egg custard was light and unique. I can't fathom to think how many people must drive by Qin Dynasty on 46 and don't even realize what this nondescript, highway restaurant is capable of producing. What the restaurant lacks in character or ambiance, it more than makes up for in flavor. There is no need to travel all the way to Chinatown for highly delicious Chinese dim sum, classics, and seafood. Qin Dynasty is where it's at. read more

Note to self. When looking to take NY family to a local, NJ dim sum/Chinese restaurant, come here! Qin Dynasty is good ol' fashion dim sum at its very finest and, as of this date, our NEW FAVORITE dim sum restaurant in NJ! As we make our way through our own personal NJ dim sum trail, we have been to dim sum restaurants with more spacing, dim sum restaurants with less of a wait and dim sum restaurants located closer to our home, but the food at this restaurant is just simply MUCH better. We came by on a brisk November Saturday morning at 11:45ish and, we took it as a good sign, but there were A LOT of cars in their parking lot already. Although the lot was smallish-looking, there were actually plenty of spots around the corner and in the back. To no one's surprise, the restaurant was bustling inside with parties waiting to be seated and also with take out orders. The restaurant isn't too big, but not small either and spacing is good between tables too. Thankfully, the wait for our party of 4 was only 10-15 minutes and by the time we left, there was no wait at all. Once seated, IMMEDIATELY, I meant we didn't even situate our kids fully yet and BOOM a cart with dim sum dishes already rolled up to us. I LOVEEEEE IT. Food on the table in nanoseconds of getting our table. Didn't hurt that we were starving too. Service was fantastic throughout our time there because the restaurant isn't too big, so the carts circling around made their way to our table often. AND when there were certain dishes that we were looking for, but they didn't have it on the cart that was at our table, the cart ladies would kindly seek it out for us and bring it to us!!! Major brownie points there. Qin Dynasty pretty much had every dim sum dish we wanted and all of the usual suspects, but, best of all, it was all really, really tasty. We've been to a few dim sum restaurants in NJ and some were meh and some were really good, but Qin definitely outranks them all with the variety and flavors. They had all of the typical rice rolls (beef, shrimp, roast pork), pork dumplings, shrimp dumplings, pan fried turnip cake, spring rolls, chicken feet, beef balls, fish balls, spare ribs with black beans, shrimp and chive dumplings, pot stickers, Malay sponge cake - I can go on and on with more. AND, ALL of it was good. I didn't have a single complaint about flavor for any of them. In addition, plenty of customers were ordering made to order kitchen items like pan fried noodles, fried rice dishes, etc, which we had a chance to try our 2nd time here, specifically the pan fried noodles. Sauce was tasty, but they drowned it way too much . Nevertheless, solid, but could have actually used less sauce. It seems the cat has been out of the bag about Qin Dynasty for a long time as they seemingly have been in service for over a decade and by the look of their business they are clearly the top choice for many people for authentic Chinese food. Hidden gem. We have been coming here for years. This place definitely serves authentic Cantonese food with big portions, and reasonable price. They are also BYOB as well which is amazing. We recently visited and was very impressed with the food and the quantity. My personal favorite will always be the eggplant with salted fish and chicken casserole. Be warn though, it can be very fishy for those who never had salted fish before. The stirred fried string beans and the spicy fish fillet in chili oil were both very good as well. My friend had razor clams; they were so fresh and tender, perfectly cooked - also enjoyed pea shoots and squash with salted yolk. Portions were super generous - I rolled out, and had left overs. We came during brunch hours on a Sunday and even though there was a lot of people, we were instantly seated. And as soon as we got a table, the dim sum carts swung by right away. The servers can be a bit aggressive in insisting you take certain dishes (by placing them on the table before you've agreed to them), but as long as you say no they'll take them away. The inside is your typical Chinese dim sum restaurants with round tables and many dim sum carts running around. The bathroom is clean and large with multiple stalls. It looks relatively new. I am sort of conflicted as to whether to rate the food three or four stars. Some of the dim sum like the Rose pork buns and soup dumplings were excellent. My daughters wanted DimSum and with the rain we weren't feeling our usual spots in NYC. So my oldest googles top DimSum restaurants in New Jersey and Qin Dynasty was the closest. On a Saturday night we arrived @ 6:05 and plenty of tables available. About 20 minutes later, the place was packed. Plenty of food on the table. Scallion Pancakes we're crispy, but oily if you don't eat them quickly. Not much scallions. Sautéed Broccoli and ginger had flavor, but not what my daughter envisioned. I did enjoy it tho. The DimSum platte was okay. The shrimp dumplings fell apart. The Vegetable Dumplings held together a little better, but lacked flavor.
