Not going back. Tried them for takeaway last night, shrimp chow mein, spring rolls and sweet & sour shrimp. Chow mein had no flavor and was mostly cabbage, shrimp was obviously frozen, thawed, then overcooked. S&S shrimp was over-battered doughy shrimp that wasn't cooked at high temp to give it that nice crispness, instead it was raw batter on the inside and soggy greasy on the outside. They dumped into a takeout box and provided a side of liquid sauce. no pineapple, red peppers or anything to make it taste better or appetizing. Rice was sticky and starchy, obviously in rice pot too long, and no fortune cookies or chopsticks in the bag. Terrible, ended up throwing most of it away. I think someone needs to check them out for shady business practices. The guy at the counter refused to communicate with me in English. He just asked Apple Pay or card and I said card, but then asked if there was a surcharge on the card? He wouldn't answer. So I said ok , what about Apple Pay ? Do you not charge a surcharge, he refused to answer and just repeated card or Apple Pay? So I said card, and he said clearly in English '$61 for you'. I for the life of me can't add the prices up from the menu to that number. I came up with $51 before the surcharge - I think they refuse to speak to you in English and then just scam you for extra money. The food was fine - but I am more upset about being taken advantage of. I don't feel like this is a new problem, but the person behind the counter just seemed particularly rude this time. I ordered $30 worth of food and ended up throwing it all out because it smelled and tasted horrible. Waste of time and money. I've never put something so disgusting tasting in my body. I thought maybe it's just smelled like body odor because of some oil they used? But it tasted like BO as well. Side note: DO NOT ORDER THE CHOW MEIN-- it is literally pig slop. There is no noodles-- it is just onions and undercooked chicken. Researched and online it said that it is not common on the east coast but some places say "chow mein" because the dish was revised to taste more like chop sewey that was popular in the Midwest. I called and they said that I should've ordered "lo mein" if I wanted noodles but MEIN LITERALLY MEANS NOODLES in Chinese. In addition to this, there was no mention on their website about this not containing noodles. Worst Chinese food I've ever had in my life. This is the worst Chinese restaurant I've ever ordered from. I called in an order today for the "Triple Delight" from the Chef's Specials and an order of "Sweet and Sour Chicken" from the Combination Plates. I should have known something was wrong when the guy I was speaking to was ready to hang up until I asked him how long it would take. He said, "10 minutes" and then click. I walked into the place and instead of being greeted with "Hi" or "Hello", I was greeted with, "You here for pick-up?" I paid for the food and said "Thanks" as I was leaving and got no response from the 2 guys behind the counter. I brought the food home and it has to be the most unflavored/uninspired Chinese cooking I've ever tasted. The "Triple Delight" is advertised as hot and spicy which it was not, (only 4 shrimp in the entire dish), the egg rolls were tasteless and the "Sweet and Sour" Chicken with fried rice is terrible. I'll round up to a 4 because I think 3 is just too neutral for China Moon. I visited only once for a sit-down lunch during the two weeks I spent in the plaza. I went based on reviews and ordered on recommendations. I heard the cold noodles appetizer is great but I went for the garlic beef lunch, served with rice, soup and chips. It was prepared quickly and served fresh, hot. I really enjoyed the meal and found nothing wrong, which is -in my opinion- the mark of a solid (primarily) take out Chinese joint. Ask for chili on the side if you want an additional kick in the tongue. The restaurant is a standard take out place with seating for about 15 for whoever wishes to dine-in. The restaurant is clean and has 2 bathrooms. The apparent owners were very friendly. If I lived in the area, I would be happy to call this restaurant my local Chinese spot. read more

I normally come here once every few weeks or so, since it's about a 15-minute walk from my house. I don't even call ahead (though I probably should), but the food is always prepared pretty quickly after I order. I've been there often enough that they immediately know my usual: veg lo mein, sometimes with 2 veggie spring rolls or veg dumplings. Despite getting the "small"/regular size for veg lo mein, it is a ton of food - definitely a filling meal. I've never had any complaints about the food; it's cooked well, and tastes great. I usually go in the evening, and there's almost never a crowd. It's no 5-star restaurant, obviously, but it's exactly what I like. If you want delicious Chinese American food and you're not looking for anything fancy, China Moon is an excellent choice. read more

Being that we didn't want to go far and wanted something quick; this was the option. My girlfriend family go to spot when doing take out. This is a very typical of any Chinese Take Out Restaurant. Nothing out of the ordinary. Similar to others. The owner is bombarded with take out phone calls. My guess was that this is not NYC where there are Chinese Take Out every dozen blocks. This is New Jersey and probably the only one within distance. We got the usual suspect of dishes. Chicken & Broccoli, General Tso Chicken Combinations, and side of Chicken Wings. It comes with rice and egg rolls. Tasted decent and satisfied my stomach. Really no complaints. Kitchen staff was always busy cooking. They even ran out of chow fun noodles. Man this place is really good!! Ordered Beef with tomatoes +Broccoli, Shrimp Lo Mein, and sweet n sour chicken w/fried rice. It was the best Beef and tomatoes we've ever had. lo Mein was nice and thick, not too greasy, and the fried rice had nice crispy bean sprouts and onions! So we have been here for Chinese a few times and had been happy. Until today... We ordered Sweet n Sour Shrimp and they definitely left a sour expression in our face when we cut what we thought were good size shrimp ended up being a huge fried ball with the tiniest shrimp I've ever seen hidden inside. The low main plate was just a stiff ball of noodles. Just ruined the moment to have such disappointment. May not be coming back here. Ordered broccoli in garlic sauce. Everywhere I ordered that they do not put mushrooms in it but this place does. But on the menu does not say anything about mushrooms. I cannot eat mushrooms. This place has been getting worse and worse for the past year. Today was the order that will not send us back. DONE!! First off, fried rice in combo platters was tasteless!! There was no Broccoli under the general Tao chicken and no hot peppers. The worst part was the egg roll!! After I cut it open, there was a rancid smell. My normal go to is House of Wong for Chinese American food but I wanted to give this place a chance since I've heard good things.... I walk in and there are art supplies and games all over the tables. There were still a few open spots so I wasn't going to complain. I know daycare is expensive and my family didn't mind eating in this young boy's playroom. There was also an older woman sitting diagonally facing the dining area, she was probably in charge of the kid and had to sit out there to watch him. As I was deciding what to order, this woman let's out a HUGE wet burp, I was stunned and looked towards her and she lets out another one. My kids claimed they could smell it, but I didn't. I did however place the menu down and leave without ordering. The funniest thing was as we walked out the door the man behind the counter screamed something at us. I am updating my review, I've been coming here for a while and I find them very likable. This isn't generally the case for these types of places, not sure why it just is. They have a few rules that I have to follow apparently, $10 minimum on the credit card and apparently this was told to me before because The guy who works here said, "you know this" it was funny... I also had an issue where I Somehow dropped one of the glass soy sauce bottles,You know the one with the red cap, the glass shattered and they were so he sauce everywhere. They were relatively empathetic and cleaned it up, they had a point when they said there was one on my table that I didn't need to grab the other one that I dropped. This is a good point that it was right on my table somehow I didn't notice it, yet again I was lectured and they were right. Another day IBrought my garbage to the counter because they don't have a garbage can in the dining area and I add another soy sauce incident, I had a trail of it going for the table all the way to the counter. This time I was given instructions to just "leave the garbage on the table, I'll take care of it" we spoke about it and apparently it was because of the soy sauce. I agree 100%. read more
