Always a great takeout with large portions of the pork fried rice. Lots of pork and vegetables and not at all salty or greasy this is the best rice I've had in a while . I went here out of necessity, since I was waiting to get my hair done.. it was right next door and I didn't feel like moving my car. Place is typical, over used interior that you see in most take out Chinese spots, not really a sit down option. I ordered some fried crab sticks for my daughter and I ordered the wontons in garlic sauce since I read a good review about them. Based on just the wontons, I would have given 4 stars because I found them to be tasty.. not a lot of meat filling, but I liked the bite of the fried wonton and then coating in a garlic sauce.. it hit the spot. I had to remove a star because I found the crab sticks to be almost inedible. There was a funky taste after the first bite that I had to spit it out. It was like it was fried in super old and dirty grease. My daughter didn't like them at all. Overall, I'm sure there are other decent options on the menu, but that was a bit of a turn off. read more

Have been hearing about the ribs here so finally had the chance to try them. I really enjoyed the flavor and sauce of the ribs. Had a great full depth flavor like it's been marinated for hours. Went really well with the rice. Need to try with the bone in ones next for sure. The wontons in garlic sauce were a huge hit. The sauce is rich in garlic and the scallions and sesame seeds are a nice add. The seafood soup is not what I expected but it was tasty. I also enjoyed the soup with some of the pork fried rice. Ordered at the restaurant and it didn't take long at all. They have about 3/4 tables there to wait or if you want to dine in. Tons of drinks options as well. The foods not bad but the service is absolutely atrocious. I ordered delivery from them a few times about a year ago & it was always the same delivery guy. If I had cash, I'd tip him cash. If not, I'd put a tip on the card. Well I put a tip on the card & I guess he was having a bad day & was expecting cash because he stood at my door with his open hand extended expecting a tip. When I told him I put it on the card he got pretty irate & nearly attacked me. I didn't order from them again for about a year after that. Fast forward to tonight, $50 order for my family & they forgot part of the order. I called to tell them & they said "oh, can we give it to you next time?" I said "no, of course not. I may not order again for months!". I said they could either deliver the rest of the order or refund me, they agreed to refund me. 30min later & still no refund to my card so I call again. They say "oh, we don't do the refunds. You have to call BeyondMenu(their online ordering service). I said" Absolutely not. Deliver the rest of the order immediately" then they hung up on me. I called back a 3rd time and used a wide range of expletives, they delivered the rest of the order 10min later. I shouldn't have to fight to get my order right & I 100% should never ever have to fight like that for proper customer service. My suggestion: there's 80 million other Chinese take out restaurants in the area selling the same dishes. There's no reason to have to worry about being treated poorly. Dine elsewhere. read more

Finally got around to ordering from here and could not believe I waited this long. We tried General Tso's, spring rolls, chicken with broccoli, and vegetable lo mein. All of it was not greasy or too salty, but flavorful. The Spring rolls had a hint of ginger- delicious and not greasy. Brown sauce on chicken and broccoli wasn't overpowering. General Tso's came with the option of mild, medium, or spicy. I prefer spicy so I like that they had this option. You can also add an egg to everything because why not? You can choose from brown and white rice. I like that they offer healthier and vegetarian options. I had no problem feeding this to my 20 month old too. read more

We order from here about once a week. The food is really fresh and reasonably priced. We always get the chicken and broccoli which is delicious. The egg rolls are good as but can be a tad on the greasy side from time to time. The orange chicken which we get periodically is really flavorful and tastes like oranges (they use dried orange peels) as opposed to some Chinese restaurants that the orange chicken is orange in name only. We always get the cheese wontons as the kids devour them. Their soups are good as well and the hot and sour is probably one of the best I've had here in New Jersey. Not sure if the owner is the delivery driver, but he always comes with a smile regardless of the weather and you can tell that he takes pride in what he does. Here's a review as we eat our take-out. First impressions are important. The woman at the counter didn't smile, didn't day a word. I gave my takeout number, she handed me my food and my receipt, and I left. Looking at the food-- we got no mustard, 2 duck sauce, and half a bag of soup noodles. Won ton soup -- wontons were heavy, just ok, no pork loose in the broth, just some scallions. Flavor was ok. Veggie fried rice was good. Just wish I had some Chinese mustard to put on it. Somewhat bland without. Egg rolls weren't filled very much. Skimpy. Bit into empty roll! Reading reviews that this is the best around has me worried. I have to try somewhere else. This is a second review of Ocean Garden in Middlesex. The second time was terrible for me and my wife. The locale is in dire need of a make-over if they want to compete with the newest local spot. I saw someone pull egg rolls out of the freezer with her bare hands, and that was it for me. With frozen food, the bare-hand method is fine, I guess; all germs should die with the temperature. This signaled two major issues for me: (1) it can be assumed that nothing is homemade and (2) nothing is fresh. The first time, we ordered the General Tso's chicken (white meat only). The meat looked strange; I assume that it comes frozen to the restaurant. I assume the same for our second time. I cannot imagine that they are using fresh ingredients. Fresh-frozen might be the best you'll get at Ocean Garden. This appears a family-run restaurant. read more

As a vegetarian, I love how they have a specific vegetarian section on their menu - many places have vegetable options, but they're prepared with oyster sauce or other animal by-products. Here you don't have to worry, so vegetarians go to town! My favorite dish here is the general Tao's Tofu. Scrumptious, and HUGE portions. I still order from this place occasionally as it is (as far as I know) the only Chinese restaurant in my area which both delivers to me and offers online ordering. I usually order some well-known dishes: General Tso's Chicken, Pork Fried Rice, Lo Mein, etc. Nothing sticks as particularly bad or good, it is satisfying for the most part. Ordering spice levels of "hot" (their highest available) results in what I call a mild heat, and I am not a heavyweight with spicy foods by any measure. My biggest complaint is there have been numerous occasions in which either chicken or beef in my order had a distinctive "shrimp-like" flavor to it. I do not want to make scientifically untested and unfounded accusations, but I have unofficially come to my own conclusions on why this flavor is present and I am certain that it will match your own conclusions. If you need a quick fix for Chinese food, this is probably more often than not a good bet. My experiences, however, suggest that each order is a dice roll: it could be good, or you could end up tossing it after a few bites. read more

Service has gone down hill along with food quality, told food would be ready in 20 min , went to pick it up because delivery times have been a joke lately and waited there another 25 min before my food was ready . Counter woman is just rude, they have a 10 year old answering calls and running credit cards and to top it off there sesame , orange and gen tso's chicken are all breading with no real chicken inside . Any time you are suppose to get something free like soup or egg rolls they conveniently forget and just give you soda and when you have to ask for extra duck/ soy sause if you want any at all . when we confronted them about this we were told "we were trouble" and they couldn't help us. read more

Then he tells me the price of my order and I tip him $2 dollars. He complains about the tip and begins begging for more money. He creeped me out so I immediately shut the door. He stood outside of my door for a bit and then sat in a driveway for minute. I watched from the window to make sure he was not going to do anything weird. Once I opened my chicken and fried rice platter I found that there were long hairs on the chicken. Obviously the chicken was not cleaned properly before frying. I ordered delivery from this restaurant today. I am surprised it has no other reviews, maybe it's new. But anyway, they left a menu on my door and I thought I'd give them a try. I got the lunch special (every day 11-3) sesame chicken that comes with a bunch of options. I got pork-fried rice and wonton soup. There is a $10 delivery minimum (and no delivery fee, bonus!) so I also ordered a vegetable spring roll and the cheese wontons. I was able to pay on my credit card over the phone, the food came hot and promptly, I tipped on my card when they arrived, and the food was delicious. The sesame chicken is SO tasty! Very good. And the same for the wonton soup, very tasty, not too salty. The spring roll was in a crispy wrapper and was ok. I dipped it in the wonton soup broth for more flavor. I've heard cheese wontons and crab rangoons are one in the same, but some restaurants serve cheese wontons as simply a cream cheese filling with no crab flavor. The cheese wontons here were good but with less crab flavoring than I've had from other restaurants and the dipping sauce was good. My total was about $12 and I got enough food to eat at least two meals. I'm very pleased with this restaurant! It will probably be my go-to for Chinese delivery unless I discover something better (I'm new to the area). I definitely recommend to give it a try. read more
