Super happy with this place. BBQ spare ribs were nice and meaty with a good flavor. Crab rangoon were perfect. Nice, crispy egg roll. Dumplings had a little too much dough to filling, but excellent dipping sauce. Mongolian beef had a really nice gravy and LOTS of onions. Not too spice, which wife appreciated but I prefer a little more heat. The pork fried rice was excellent, and I liked the general tsaos- crispy and not too sweet. Moo Shoo pork was excellent- loved the mushrooms in there. Kinda burned me on the 1/3 cup of hoisin sauce though, so not all my pancakes got that. Shame. Really solid here. Let me start off by saying that I do not normally write reviews so the fact that I am means that its been that bad. I have been going to this restaurant for 6+ years; its a family favorite. I used to recommend it to everyone- but now I take my business elsewhere. Post-quarantine this has been one of the rudest takeout places I've been to. I understand the raise of prices since quarantine, but on numerous occasions I have been overcharged and when I go back to dispute the charges, I am given dirty looks. Even before this, the new management is rude over the phone and in person. $10 for 3 pieces of chicken. Ordering online - I order a diet coke but instead of refunding the order because it is out of stock, they give me a regular soda and charge me. It's not wow on the storefront or inside design and service basically What do you want and here's your order type style very bare bones transactionary But the food is good. After a long drought I was finally able to get my hands on some Chinese food! I live in Brooklyn and wasn't able to find Chinese anywhere in the city due to the quarantine and other things ... I relocated to NJ to my parents' house when my laundromat also closed down. I had a super bad day at "work", and thought of the grand idea to get Chinese, hoping that they would be open. And they were! Called and ordered to pick up, they were clear and friendly. When I went to pick it up, they were surrounded by plexi glass and wood, adhering to social distancing. Unfortunately the other people who cam in after me did not, but that's not the restaurant. Came home and it was exactly what I wanted, great pork-fried rice, good sesame chicken and crab rangoon. Definitely am going there again. My friends in the city are so jealous! read more

I keep looking for a good Chinese restaurant in the area but have yet to find one. This was just another in a long line of disappointments. The food had no flavor. My go-to is beef with broccoli and my husbands is pepper steak with onion. They both were flavorless. Plenty of parking and not the ugliest of Chinese takeout places. And, the food was very tasty. The $5.50 luncheon including soup is a good deal. My dish was the tofu in garlic sauce. The garlic sauce was excellent. My only criticism was that there wasn't much tofu in the dish. Lots of other vegetables but for a tofu dish, it was lacking in tofu. This is my first time eating here, I've always been reluctant because it's a bit of a dive & I'm funny about where I eat Chinese food from, but a friend recommended it to me. Well let me just say, "looks are truly deceiving!" The food was absolutely delicious. The only reason I didn't give it a 5 was because of the huge pieces of mushrooms, I love mushrooms, but feel that they should have been thinly sliced. This meal had just the right amount of curry & the cook was extremely generous with the shrimp, I would definitely recommend this spot for the Mei Fun if you are ever in the South Plainfield area. Place is around the corner from my house and I went once and it sucked so I had not went back in a while cause there are 10 of them around here and no reason to go to the worst one. Finally I give it another try like two weeks ago and it was good. Good enough to be my spot. Even walking into the place was beautiful and clean. I thought I didn't need to go any further cause it was so good. Today I thought is was my love say and as I am ordering So I say it back politely all five times to the lady with the unrecognizable English on the other end of the line. I really like this Chinese food spot because it's nice and flavorful. I got dumplings, chicken and broccoli, chicken low mein and the hot and sour soup; they all were fresh and flavorful. As another reviewer had mentioned, it's not the best take-out, but no where near the worst. Besides the fact that their food is ready to pick-up after you order and hang up your phone, they will also make it to your liking. For instance, my kids love Lo-mein but they could pass on the chopped lettuce and whatever else is added to dress it up. So, I ask for plain Lo-mein and say "just noodle" or plain Lo-mein, "just noodle and chicken, no vegetables". They have gotten it right every time, with no misunderstanding. Their fried rice is typical, if not identical to all the other take-out spots. I think I had the General Tso, but because I'm not certain if I did or didn't, that should tell you enough. Here's what I do recommend that you will not be disappointed in: Fried Chicken Wings (I swear all take-outs make them amazing, but for certain, they are awesome here) Fried Dumpling (I love this because I love that sweet soy sauce that comes with it) Chicken Lo-mein and request the dumpling sauce. I was walking from quick check to the bakery on Monday having forgotten that it sadly was closed (was my last day in town too) and was like hey... theres a Chinese place here. A quick yelp background check and confirmation of it being ok from my boyfriend who grew up here, and I went on in. I was so skeptical because the prices are so good. I got the $6 lunch combo with non spicy sesame chicken (you can request spicy or non spicy) and pork fried rice. I also got an order of the crab wontons for $5. Food was made fresh when I ordered it and didn't take too long. Theres a couple tables to sit at while you wait. The wontons were perfect and I would definitely order them again. The sesame chicken was big enough for two meals and was pretty good as well. Rice had good flavor but the wontons were the star of the show. I'd definitely come back. read more

In the case of this restaurant you really can't judge a book by its cover. It really looks like a hole in the wall / dive place when you walk in. However, give the food a chance and it shouldn't disappoint. Some of our favorite orders are the fried chicken, chicken and broccoli, dumplings, boneless ribs, Lo Mein, orange chicken, egg rolls, wonton soup, etc. Portions are typical compared to other local Chinese restaurants for the price you pay. One of the downfalls is their lack of delivery but most of the Chinese restaurants in this area don't deliver. read more

The store is DIRTY! The clothing the cooks and counter person wear are always dirty. Maybe they should learn some customer service as well. Unused to order the lunch specials and then the food quality just took a turn for the worse so we stopped ordering for two years. We decided one nite to give it a try once again. AWFUL! Order take out here frequently. Good Wonton Soup, great Lo Mein and they have a very tasty dumpling sauce that's always request which goes great with Lomein or Fried Rice. I have been to many similar restaurants within the South Plainfield area, and I have to say that this restaurant is the best out of the ones that I've visited. I was recommended to this restaurant a while back by a great friend of mine. I find myself now ordering here at least once a week and I have never felt dissatisfied with the food or service. This is one of the best chinese restaurants in the area in my opinion. I order here frequently, and there is always something new to try from their menu. My personal favorite has to be their general tso's chicken. Also their dumplings come with an amazing sauce that tastes delicious with anything! I generally order by phone, and my order is always ready by the time I arrive for pick up. They get my order right every time and there has never been a misunderstanding.
