This place is located on the main strip in Somerville. They have several options for smashed type burgers service was fairly decent. You place your order on the kiosk and then they bring it out to your table. Unless you order it to go [[HIGHLIGHT]]they have a decent amount of seating very cutely decorated.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] burgers were pretty tasty along with the fries . Prices are fairly decent as well.. Definitely worth giving a try.

    The kicker omelette

Stopped in to try their brunch menu They have self order kiosks but I decided to use the cashier to order my food. I decided to go with the kicker omelette and a fresh squeezed orange juice. The omelette wasn't bad it was a mild spicy taste which works well with the egg. The home fries didn't have any flavor and theres no condiments at the table so I didn't use ketchup. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant itself is nice and bright but it was also very loud when it's busy so it was hard to have a conversation I'm assuming because the ceiling looked made of metal.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Also if you are a fan of guy fieri(I'm not) he visited here in 2022 so it should be on his fans to visit list. But my opinion of this place is if you live in the area and looking for a brunch spot without having to take the car this could be a nice option for you. But for someone like me who came from another town it wasn't anything special

Iced Fruity Pebbles Oat Milk Matcha

Surf Turf and Earth is one of my go-to weekly spots when I want something healthy, quick, and consistently good. I usually get the California Honey and it never disappoints. It's super crispy, not greasy at all, and the homemade honey mustard sauce is amazing. It's perfect on the sesame bun and honestly one of my favorite meals to grab during the week. My boyfriend always goes for the build-your-own bowls, which he loves because he can customize exactly what he wants every time. They're always really good and a great option if you're in the mood for something tailored to you. I also went for breakfast for the first time today and was pleasantly surprised. I tried the Fruity Pebbles matcha, which was pretty good, though I think I would've liked it even more with 2% milk, which they didn't seem to have. I also had the So Extra sandwich and it was so good. The hash brown was still perfectly crispy inside the sandwich, the eggs were fried just right, I loved the touch of spinach, and whatever sauce was on it really tied everything together. I'd honestly come back just for that sandwich alone. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Also it's super cute inside, perfect to bring a friend or date looking for a healthier option in downtown Somerville, NJ![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Created my own Angus, cheddar, tomato, pickle and bacon.

Burger and fries, tasted fairly fresh and made to order. If it was frozen I couldn't tell. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Small cute place but not inexpensive.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] A little over $30.00 for this meal with tip.

As someone who tries to eat more vegetarian-conscious, this spot in Somerville is perfect! With so many plant-based options available along with plant-based sauces, makes it such an inclusive spot for people with dietary restrictions. I ordered their new chimi chicken sandwich with earth chick'n and plant-based parmesan and it was so delicious! There are so many vibrant flavors with the pickled onions, chimichurri, and horseradish aioli! I also got their seasonal almond matcha and omg it was incredible - it had almost like an amaretto flavor which I absolutely loved.

This place is located in Somerville downtown but more on the outskirts rather than the central area. Our friends introduced us to this place. Ambience: [[HIGHLIGHT]]This place reminds me of a spot you would find at the beach. It's casual and chill. Good place to come with friends or family.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Food: We got the impossible burger, the California Chicken, and onion rings. Thought it was a bit pricey for onion rings, but you get a whole platter. Highly recommend if you're an onion ring lover! They were big, round, nice and crispy. The California Chicken was good - the chicken was crispy and thick but still juicy. The impossible burger tasted like a burger but nothing special. The plant based patty was thin and since I'm not a vegan would rather just eat the real thing. Our friends got bowls and they looked really big, healthy and yummy. Service: They bring the food out to you once you order at the counter. They have an area on the other side of the kitchen where you can get your own water, condiments, and to go box. Tipping is not mandatory. Overall, I would go again and try their bowls next time. I'm not a plant based protein fan and you have to pay extra for it, but good for vegans.

    The Cuban (vegan)

Sometimes it's hard to know what to eat when one person wants vegan while the other does not. Thankfully, McKenzie and her husband, the owners of Turf Surf and Earth, faced a similar problem. McKenzie took the time to chat and explained that she was vegan, but her husband was a vegetarian. Thus, when going out, it was hard, and when going out to eat, that shouldn't be the case. We go out to enjoy ourselves, not debate and get frustrated. This sparked an idea, and they saw that there is a solution. Open an eatery that offers food that's vegan-friendly, some other dishes for vegetarians, and some dishes for meat lovers. This way, everyone is happy! As people who are flexitarians, we are thrilled. While I lean towards vegetarian, it also depends on my body and what it wants. Their offerings from breakfast dishes to lighter snacks are a feast for the eyes. Let's see how they taste. After perusing their menu, I decided on The Cuban. It is a vegetarian sandwich that consists of mushrooms, plant-based bacon, and Swiss cheese, served with pickles on a roll. I also had to have my onion rings. The portions are huge and big enough to share! Now for the moment of truth... o.m.g. it was heaven on a tray!!! [[HIGHLIGHT]]As I feasted on my tray of deliciousness, I was sitting in a beautiful place filled with beautiful and healthy plants.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Breathing all the wonderful oxygen the plants are giving off, I am in a state of euphoria. For a quick bite, this is THE place to come to, and I will be revisiting to try more of their menu. I spied "The Chimichuri" and it has my name written all over it.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Great spot for families for a quick, delicious dinner.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Came with the kids on a Friday night. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They have a spot in the front of the restaurant with a couch, books for everyone and toys.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]There was a musician playing the night we went and there's plenty of high chairs.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I got the veggie burger with onions and guac. So delicious. The bun was also very good. My Husband ordered the chicken gyro. Both were very large portions. The kids chicken came with 4 large pieces and tons of fries. Enjoy really enjoyed.

Women owned business in Central Jersey are killing it! I almost forgot how much I loved Turf Surf and Earth! Haven't been in a while but decided to stop in for some take out dinner. I ordered the gyro with chicken and the cheesesteak with angus beef. Both were absolutely delicious! Both handheld options were packed with meat and flavor. My boyfriend and I devoured every bite. Safe to say this is going to be part of our dinner rotation from now on. The service was also impeccable. Brianne was lovely and very helpful when placing my order with her. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant is also tastefully designed and very clean.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]This is the perfect spot for almost any time of day, breakfast lunch and dinner.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]And don't forget to come with friends or family, they have games and a comfy couch to hang out on![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They also have an entire cafe menu to order from. And if you're not sipping on one of their amazing cafe beverages, check out their complimentary self serve water station. Thank you! Keep crushing it!

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Beautiful and inviting spot for the family that I wouldn't have thought of if it wasn't for the Yelp experience.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Kids were happily playing w the magnetic tiles while waiting on their food.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Nice selection of food.. Got the surf (salmon sandwich w tzatziki sauce) while my hubby got the gochichong burger. Mine was ok, think I should've got the one w rice rather than a sesame bun. Hubby loved his burger and said the flavors were so unique. My 2 kids enjoyed their simple smash burger and fries.

The name got my attention and they did not disappoint at all. We were happy to be able to sit on the patio. There are so many vegetarian & vegan options we had to try as much as we can. Everything we had was vegan from the pancakes & eggs to the tofu tacos. We were sorry that we didn't have room for desert so we'll have to come back!

    Grandma's Boy
    Elizabeth C.

OMG! Everything we had was so good. I don't know why we've never been here before. Came here for Galentines Day in town and ended up ordering dinner. We had the Grandma's boy, a turkey burger Buffalo chipotle style, and an order of sweet potato fries with 2 sauces ( tangy earth and Buffalo chipotle). Everything was to die for.

    Nati P.

This place is amazing! I went with a friend who had been raving about it for awhile and it did not disappoint!! She had a chicken sandwich and I had a chicken salad with a bunch of add ons. I really like that you can customize your order (there are so many options) and they have a kiosk which was helpful as a first timer to look through their menu and not feel rushed when ordering. I was so surprised with how packed it got for dinner. Will definitely be back!

Ask the Community - Turf Surf and Earth

Is this byob or no liquor at all?

    Yes, it is BYOB.

In Spring/Summer 2023, will they be open on Sundays?

Hey there! We would love to be open on Sunday but that all depends on staffing and availability so unfortunately right now, we are just sticking with 6 days a week unless things drastically change

Is there outdoor dining? If so, are dogs allowed?

Dogs are allowed! I've sat outside with my friends dog before, they even brought a water bowl for her

Could I bring my own water bottle? I hate buying drinks, I just want water.

    Of course I've done it!

Website is down. Can I see the menu?

Check out Yelp photos! I know I took a pic of the menu that should be up there.

We're still looking around for our go-to Indian restaurant in the area as our kids love saag/palak paneer and we used to go at least once a month where we moved from. But we finally made it! We came here on a Monday that also fell on a holiday so they had a steady amount of customers. We were the only non-Indian customers, which appears to be normal. They're located in a small strip along with 2 or 3 other businesses. Shared parking is behind the building so most people entered through the back door. It was about half full when we got there so I can see it filling up fast during crowded times. Walk through because no one is at the back but there is a small clothing rack to hang coats; the counter is at the front by the front door. We made ourselves known and were promptly seated. They serve vegetarian food and many are Swaminarayan-friendly (allium-free, which appears to be their default mode), certain can be made Jain as well! They do use alliums but overall, they seem to be able to make most of the dishes without alliums. We ordered the following, Swaminarayan-style and mild because one of my kids can do but mild food: DAHI PURI: I usually get pani puri but decided to try it out since it's been a while since I had this. It came out first as the appetizer, was a thing of beauty, and there are A LOT of flavors in there. The sweet-leaning yogurt, sev with its textural differences, the freshness of the cilantro, the spiced potatoes, the tart pomegranate seeds... My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed it. PALAK PANEER: This was ordered for my kids. Green gravy with tender paneer. They liked it! The curry got a little too spicy but it didn't hit them until later. My kid with the food allergies ate all the paneer when the gravy grew too spicy for him. MALAI KOFTA: This is different from the malai kofta I've had before but not in a bad way. I definitely think they use cashew "cream" in this. It's lightly sweet in a way that reminds me of cashews. The kofta are soft and I'm pretty sure are paneer based. This is probably the most mild curry we ordered, both in terms of spice and spices. This was my pick because I usually can't order malai kofta at Indian restaurants so I was pleased I could hear. MATAR METHI MALAI: I love how Indian curries are so straightforward when it comes to names. I'm not sure what to expect with this but my husband didn't know what to get so I nudged him towards this. He wanted MATAR PANEER but it's not on the menu. This is essentially fenugreek pea curry in a milky gravy. It has very interesting spices and flavor. A little more bland than the others, yet not at the same time. Must be that fenugreek! For some odd reason, it reminded me of coconut chutney I've had before. We also got ROTI for one of my kids who prefers bread over rice. All curries come with white basmati. For drinks, we got MANGO LASSI, SPRITE, and CHAAS (buttermilk). The buttermilk was different! Much more spiced than I expected. I also swear at one point I tasted a raw onion bit but it only happened once so who knows if it was mistaken blended in or it was all in my head. I do remember it was STRONG though. Overall, we were pleasantly surprised at the sheer amount of choices we had. Our bill totaled to around $90 (curries are around $20, Dahi puri was $12) and we brought home some leftovers. They seem to be family run and are fairly nice and helpful. We would likely go back again to try more things, but the palak paneer isn't completely up our kids' alley to become their favorite. If you have food allergies, let them know. My youngest has multiple food allergies including to nuts and wheat. Most of their curries contains nuts EXCEPT for the palak paneer and their bhindi (okra) dish. Luckily for my kid. Despite how nuts are a common ingredient in the kitchen, my kid was completely fine during and after eating. Note: their menu says they charge gratuity for parties of 4 people or more. My husband says he didn't see it on the bill when it was time to pay. Not sure if that statement is now outdated or it only counts if there are 4+ ADULTS.
