If you want a place that's small, cozy and serves decent food and delicious burgers with weekly specials and good drinks, then the Westbrook Restaurant is your place. Located in Bound Brook on Talmage Rd, you can usually catch a live band playing on Friday or Saturday night. The restaurant is run by a woman named Julie and she and her staff do a great job of making everyone feel welcomed. They are very attentive and courteous to all patrons. Since it is a small place I suggest reserving a table. During the summer months the bands can play outside on their patio. If you happen to be there on The 4th of July everyone goes outside and can see the local fireworks right from the patio. The Westbrook does have a parking lot but it's not that big and can get full so you'll have to park on the street. This place seems to be getting better and better. The Westbrook is a great little bar and restaurant with a welcoming relaxing vibe. Kaylee and all the staff are friendly and attentive. I've been coming here for about 5 years and seen the menu go through a few changes. It's always been a good menu and currently it's excellent! The Westbrook keeps getting better and better! Most recently I ordered the shrimp tacos which were delicious and spicy. We come here for dart league some nights and other nights theres a band or open mike. In the summer it's pleasant to be seated at the patio out front. An additional plus is that you can see the Patriots Stadium fireworks from the patio. We had planned to go to dinner with our good friends. Their adult son and our adult son both had their plans fall apart so they joined us. We tried a place that my friend likes but they could not accommodate our now larger party. I remember having good experiences at The Westbrook Restaurant and Bar, so I suggested that we go there. There was room in their large parking lot for our large car and room at our choice of tables for our group of six. My favorite server in the whole wide world, Kate, took extremely good care of us. They have a great selection of draft beer for us enjoy. Everyone's meal was delicious. The pork on the bone special was incredible with this moist, breaded, perfectly cooked and seasoned chop served with a real nice salad. Props to the chef. The service was outstanding. After we settled the bill, yet another attractive young lady, most likely a manager or owner, checks to make certain we were pleased and to wish us a good night. If you like a sports bar atmosphere, non-pretentious comfort food and beverages, and delightful service, you need to visit The Westbrook Restaurant and Bar. We had our Mom's repass luncheon with 40 people. From the staff to the waiters and waitresses, the service and the food were excellent. But.. ..my favorite part, the Friday night Karaoke! Even Brittany the bartender sang for us. There wasn't a bad singer in the house which made the night exceptional. I have been coming to The Westbrook since we moved to town about 2+ years ago... was always a great place to meet new friends and hang out with ones we've made since coming. However, that's all over now... Jules sold the bar and it's been downhill since. What once was a place that offers fantastic prime rib, seafood, burgers and soups (all freshly made by chef) has now become a place to drink overpriced drinks and fried greasy food. The New Westbrook Inn is one of my favorite places! The regular menu has so many amazing dishes, from Fresh Meat Burgers, not frozen, to a homemade Meatloaf that is to die for. Homemade potato chips are the side to get instead of French Fries and add that brown gravy on the side...just wow! The kicker is the specials menu....this chef they have there whips up some incredible dishes. I've never had a special that I wasn't thrilled with. The staff is always so friendly and makes you feel like you've been coming in for years. Very helpful with any questions about the menu and very accommodating with any special requests with the food. Stumbled upon this place online when searching for open mics in NJ. It's small but quaint. When we walked in the "stage" set up is right to the right of the entry door so it was sort of surprising to walk in and distract the viewers for a second upon our arrival. The bartender was very nice and we had made it just in time to order food. (Kitchen closed at 10pm which was kind of a bummer) It was a mixed crowd I'd say early twenties all the way to 60/70s folk. We tried the chicken finger appetizer. Food came out pretty quickly and it was even hot! Very good chicken fingers. Will be visiting again next time for open mic! read more

I used to eat lunch here all the time when I worked in Somerset, I couldn't get enough of their club sandwiches. Once I had a much needed change of employment in another town, I kind of forgot about the WBI. Until last summer, when I saw them on restaurant.com. I went here for dinner. We sat outside and ordered the four cheese pasta, a comfort food style baked macaroni dish. Delicious, and enough for 2 large meals. My husband got the zesty ziti, which was equally large and yummy. We sat at the bar and listens to Hal who was the open mic performer for the evening - cheers to Hal. We each went with a special of pork loin stuffed with ham, spinach, garlic and sun dried tomatoes. It came with green beans, mashed potatoes and a house salad. The pork was terrific and green beans were fresh and still slightly crisp which I prefer. The menu has a standard variety of burgers and sandwiches along with several entrees but the scoop is that the owner lets the chef do their thing and select the specials for the day - this is where the chef's talent shines! My friends and I went to see one of our friends sing there at 7 on a Saturday night. The restaurant was a small room with a bar. The food was over priced for the quality and portion size. Service is GREAT! The bartender and wait staff are attentive and fast. The food is OK. But, the portion sizes for the price is NOT good at all. I am reading other reviews saying the portions are ample. That may have been the case even as recently as two months ago, but they seem to be smaller and smaller each time. We went here for lunch on a Saturday. It was pretty early so there weren't too many people at the bar. It started to fill up while we were there. I have to say I was blown away by the food. My husband made in his words a "safe choice" by ordering a chicken sandwich and he said it was great and he wished he went with something more complex. Across from the Somerset Patriots stadium. Decor is a bit down scale but it's a neighborhood joint, not a dive bar. Three flat screens behind the bar. Sirius radio on playing rock and roll. Bartender at lunch today also was our waitress. Friendly and efficient. Food came out of the kitchen promptly. We split the crab cake appetizer which was good but not special. We had zero expectations given the rough exterior of the joint. Despite the refurbished interior, this is still just a bar with aspirations sadly out of reach. We found parking at 6pm, tight but we're in. We went as a family, so the "kids" aspect was in play. We snagged a four top before the place filled up. We figured it must be a local hit, lots of folks speaking easy with the hostess. The hostess seemed to remember me, but I can't for the life of me figure how. Ah well. We ordered two burgers (one a double-double), French dip sandwich, Pulled Chicken Sliders, calamari, and a fried cheese appetizer that blew me away. I ordered medium-well on my double-double and got two hockey pucks. My son's burger was medium well. Hmm. The wife's calamari came out warm, not hot, but the sauces were very tasty. My daughter did not like the sliders, but I actually did. Pineapple chunks in them really worked. The house chips were over-salted, which is hard to do with potato chips. The "skinny" fries were good but they are shoestrings, dunno why they had to be skinny. One batch was also over-salted. What the hell is it with the salt shaker? Hey, they had Guinness on tap, so it was worth a star. A star for the sliders and fried cheese appetizer. More stars are possible for consistent service (waited awhile to pay and exit), better execution of the burgers, hot food, and a lighter touch on the salt. Oh, and please repaint the men's room.
