Stopped in after a dress appointment near by and SO glad we did. We were able to be seated right away and was greeted by the kindest server. Love the feel of a bunch of different rooms really adds an old timey touch. The food was delicious- I did have to send my burger back to cook a little longer as it came rare and I requested medium well. But that was fixed and everything truly hit the spot after a long day.

Beautiful beams on dining side, which is set up as a bunch of small rooms.felt a bit cluttered. Lined tablecloths (formal) yet bar music??

Along the main street in Scotch Plains, the place is very large having two sides, one more of a bar and the other more dining in small rooms. The building is very old with old beams, which are beautiful and low ceilings. But doodle low ceilings it did feel a little more cramped on the dining side . It was a little confusing as they have formal tablecloths on the dining side, making it feel like more fine dining get our playing rock music from the bar. Seems a little like they don't know what they wanna be. The food is average nothing to write home about the drunken chicken Parm entrée had a vodka kind of sauce on it yet did not have much flavor. The chicken was tender, but smothered in it rubbery type of mozzarella did not taste fresh. I was surprised that an entrée does not come with or bread as usually this accompanies an entrée for the price. The chili was delicious layered in flavors and had just a small amount of cheese as not to hide the rich taste. I would've preferred two bowls of that rather than ordering the entrée. My husband got the tacos, which again were nothing to write home about not filled very full and just average. The sangria did not have too much flavor. The staff was very pleasant, I just wish the atmosphere was a little better and the prices were a little lower for what you got. Would've loved a small salad to go with the entrées seems more like an eclectic bar food restaurant than a fancy restaurant yet has more fancy prices.

The wings were a hit. Meaty & fried well. They weren't too saucy though so if you like it saucy ask for a side of sauce. The short rib pizza fell a little short, was a bit dry and no tomato sauce, it had a garlic sauce instead. I'll probably skip it next time.

New England Clam Chowder, VERY TASTY

It was a night where it was finally nice to sit out, but I don't like outdoors haha. We sat at the bar. It was packed outside, only a few people inside. The bartender was really nice. Unfortunately, I didn't care too much for the cocktails. The first cocktail was not the right mixture. Not sure if he tried to play it off that he didn't know it wasn't the right fruit puree but he was nice enough to make me a different drink. New England Clam Chowder - we love New England clam chowder so we had to try. When it came out, I'm not gonna lie, it didn't look very appetizing. Darker than how I usually see it BUT it was very flavorful. I was actually impressed how good it was. Tavern Shrimp - these were also very delicious! Sweet Chili Chicken Wings - These were really good. I'd go back :-)

Made reservations! We got there early decided to go the bar in patio. Happy hour! We were a party of 3. Ordered 2 margaritas and 1 cosmo! Got 2 cosmos and 1 margaritas! Hubby ordered another margarita Cosmo was ok Made reservation for the second floor because website stated recently renovated. Dining area plainly decorated. Our Server was Antonio! Attentive and friendly. Appreciated his recommendations. He shared Monday night ravioli specials. Got the ravioli- appetizer portion. Requested extra pesto sauce- didn't get the extra sauce :( Cream brûlée was yummy! Parking on site. Small park across the street and near shopping area.

Came in on a Saturday night to see the Suburban Stereo Band and get some dinner, This was our first time seeing this band and they were excellent! Really enjoyed them... They had a great selection of songs. For dinner my hubby had the Cobb Salad and a Burger and Fries and I ordered the Hot Honey Pizza. His salad looked really appetizing and he enjoyed his burger and fries as well. This was my first time ordering a hot honey pizza and it was really good. He tried a slice and liked it as well. I'm only docking a star because I asked for a table In view of the band since that's why we came but we had to wait to be relocated because there weren't any open tables when we arrived so we missed a majority of their performance unfortunately because we couldn't see them. But since the food was tasty hopefully we will return again.

One of two big pieces of chicken parm (ate the other before I remembered to take a picture!)

Went for a family get together and had a semi private room in the back. Waiter forgot about us a few times so seemed they were understaffed a little. Ordered an old fashioned, which was good not great. Had the chicken parm where the chicken was delicious but he noodles and sauce left a little to be desired. Two big pieces of chicken offset the underwhelming amount of noodles. I'll be back again to try something different.

Waited 20 mins on a Saturday afternoon for a table. Interior is an old bar style restaurant with 3 floors of seating. The outdoor bar and seating area was very cute however it was not open when I went. I tried the spinach artichoke dip, the hot honey pizza and the mango elderflower margherita. Food and drinks were good, but pricy.

As I walked in with my spouse the energy was low, but it was cute. The server was kind and was super honest about her recommendations. I'd go back if I'm in the area, but wouldn't go out of my way if that makes any sense. Glows: -Interesting/fun/cozy decor (feels like you're in someone's home) -Great outdoor space for the fall/winter/spring -Food is tasty -Service is decent -Huge parking lot I a +++

French onion soup - loved the onion straws!

Stagehouse blends the nostalgic build of a pre-civil war transportation hub with the warm feel of a local watering hole. I came for dinner on a Saturday night and was happy to only wait about five minutes for a table for two. It is worth noting that the location is quite large - multiple floors, multiple buildings, and an outdoor section during the summer months. One warning if you get seated on the second floor of the original inn - it's not for the faint of heart. It shakes when anyone moves, and if you're over 6 foot you'll hit your head on the beam when you reach the top of the steps. Definitely a wild ride if you're also a few drinks in! I've had a few things here that are solid, but not worth writing much about (burgers, hot sandwiches). However, the French onion soup is on a different level. Crunchy onion straws on top, gooey cheese baked on a big bowl, and a tasty broth. Really a masterclass in taking a basic soup and punching it up a bit. Get the soup.

My old phone was taking blurry pics from far away so I wasn't able to capture it, but think very cozy, fireplace with candles glowing from within, and little alcoves in the wall for candle clusters. It was perfectly elevated while still being casual and approachable. When we came there was a Mac and cheese special with pulled bbq pork on top. I knew we had to get that because it is right up my husbands alley. It did not disappoint, my husband was tempted to order some to take home! The pasta was super creamy and cheesy, mixed with the roasted pulled smoky bbq pork on top, it was the ultimate comfort food for the cold rainy day we were having. For my meal I got the Grilled Cheese which is more of an elevated "grown up" grilled cheese. It had cheese, thin apple slices, fig jam and bacon. The flavors were great, I only wish there was a little more cheese or a little less jam to balance the sweet and savory a little more, because for me it was a touch too sweet. The sourdough it was made with was delicious and fresh, I also appreciate that they don't seem to soak their grilled cheese in oil like a lot of places do (butter or nothing, please!!) My husband ordered the burger which he really enjoyed but nothing was going to top the pulled pork Mac and cheese for him. They should consider adding it to the regular menu! He originally wanted the duck sandwich but it was unavailable on this day. All in all it was a cozy afternoon together. Our waitress was very friendly and made sure to check on us without ever being too overbearing.

From start to finish, the experience was outstanding. Our server was attentive and professional, the food was excellent, and the atmosphere was warm, inviting, and quietly classy--ideal for a relaxed lunch and conversation. I started with the Candy Roaster Squash & Coconut Soup, a vegan dish with a warm, sweet, and hearty flavor profile. It was absolutely perfect on a cold winter day. For my entrée, I ordered the Brewer's Burger with pepper jack cheese, caramelized onions, pickles, lettuce, tomato, rosemary aioli, and a side of frites. The flavors came together beautifully--salty, sweet, and savory notes all working in harmony. Truly a dance in your mouth. One additional detail worth noting: the gender-neutral accessible restroom was spotless and had a very pleasant odor. It was top-notch, just like everything else about this restaurant.
