We recently had the pleasure of dining here on a lovely Sunday afternoon, opting to sit outside and indulge in their family-style brunch while enjoying the scenery and people-watching. It is essential to note that there is a lot of food to eat so guests should be prepared to come hungry or take leftovers home. Our selection of small plates included ricotta-stuffed crepes, latkes with house-cured salmon, a mezza plate, and brioche French toast. While awaiting our meal, we were treated to spiced sugar beignets with chocolate and raspberry sauce, which were delightful. The variety of flavors was impressive, and everything was absolutely delicious, including the Belgian beer-steamed mussels and fish and chips, both of which came with generous portions of fries. Although we were unable to fit dessert into our meal, the bar offered exceptional cocktails. Went for a spontaneous girls night out last night, around 730pm. We made a reso in case, but it wasn't necessary. The restaurant was located in downtown Somerville and was full inside, but had plenty of seating on the outside patio. It was nice and quiet and we were immediately greeted by our server, Lexi. Since it was our first time, we opted to try several of the appetizers instead of going for entrees. This included the Grilled Octopus, Crispy Calamari, Canneloni Jump Crab Meat w/Avocado Roll, Pow Pow Shrimp, and Grilled Scallops. Everything was excellent! The scallops were grilled to perfection, the calamari was lightly breaded and filling, I even enjoyed the octopus (which I don't usually love). I found the Canneloni roll to be a little bland tasting (could have used some salt or seasoning), and the Pow shrimp had a thick coat of fry that I removed. I was there on a Friday night, which may have skewed my experience. When we walked in, we were greeted by a very friendly waitress and had a minimal wait to be seated. The ambience was beautiful clean, and it didn't smell like seafood. I would recommend bringing your own bottle of wine since everybody seemed to BYOB, my girlfriends and I spent about 60 minutes there waiting for our food entrees. I will say the seafood was very fresh and delicious, but the service was so slow. If we did not order an appetizer, I would have starved. Giving this place 2 stars because this was my third visit and they have become progressively worse, but the extra star was due to the pleasant previous visit. 3 plus a baby visit a few weeks ago and asked to sit outside. We were told that we had to order everything at once, so that was very annoying. It's not covid anymore and we got there at 5:00 PM... we ordered crispy sushi rice which we had previously order and it was not as good as the previous time but it was ok. We also ordered the pow pow shrimp which was pretty awful and mostly breading - do not recommend.... For dinner I ordered the risotto which tasted like it came out of a box and my husband ordered the crab cake which was pretty good actually. After all, our server forgot about us, so I had to walk inside to pay. She was just chilling by the drink station. Boulevard has reopened so a buddy of mine and I grabbed dinner last night. They had four specials. Was not super busy on this Sunday night. Interior is very nice. Modern and has a bar you can sit at. Place is BYOB which is nice. Service is average. Not the best service, not the worst service. Last time I was there I got the surf and Turf. I didn't love it so I went for mussels this time. They were very average. The sauce lacked flavor and I was quite disappointed. My buddy got a poke bowl. This place is byob and there is a liquor store right down the street if you forgot to bring something. There is also a discount if you pay in cash! Thankfully it was still happy hour with raw oysters being $2 each. We ordered the fried oyster taco, salmon poke, crab cakes, and cod/shrimp tacos. The Ambiance is very cool since it's a fish market up front with a restaurant in the back. My wife and I really enjoyed every dish we tried. This place was BYOB with an all-seafood menu. They also had a market that offered fresh fish. The building appeared to be all brick with a seating area with a view into the kitchen. The service was appreciated while the food came out in a timely manner. There was also a small discount if cash was used. For starters, the steamed littleneck clams ($12) and faroe island salmon poke ($14) were ordered. There were 12 large clams cooked in garlic butter, oregano, and white wine. They appeared to be fresh and were pleasant. I would have preferred a little more garlic to these, but regardless, still appetizing. The poke had roasted beets, avocado, grapefruit, oranges, scallions, sesame seeds with a ponzu sauce and chili aioli. This was a special on the night I attended. I was afraid this would be too sweet, but that was not the case at all. There was a nice balance with the fruits and sauce component of the dish. For an entrée, I went with the blackened yellowfin tuna ($30). It came with sautéed green beans and a caper olive vinaigrette. The tuna was cooked to a perfect rare temperature. The vinaigrette really stood out to me as it paired nicely with the tuna. It reminded me of a muffuletta. It was a well put together dish. I also tried the halibut dish, great flavor, but a little salty. For dessert, the chocolate chip banana bread pudding ($8?) was ordered. It came with vanilla ice cream. It was a great way to end the meal. The bread pudding was soft and warm which went well with the cool ice cream. Will I go back? Yes. read more

While the food was excellent, we received the appetizers all together, before we were done with the oysters, with little room for the plates on the table, and seriously limiting our enjoyment of the meal. Loved everything about this place, it's homey with delicious food that's very comparably priced. We had the tuna pokey, oysters and shrimp and halibut ceviche to start. The portions for the ceviches and pokey were quite generous. The pokey is a must have, packed with flavor and topped with crunchy goodness. For our meal we had the boulevard risotto which I was quite nervous about having just come back from Italy, but the risotto was quite delicious with generous portions of lobster and perfectly cooked scallops. The shrimp tacos are a must, every component from the tortillas to the mango topping is fresh perfection. However, the star of the meal for me was definitely the fresh ciabatta bread that housed our soft shell crab sandwich. They have a bakery next door which I cannot wait to try. Service was friendly and attentive, we were seated at 9, despite them closing at 9, our meal did not feel rushed, and many dinners were still seated when we left. If you like seafood, I recommend here! I have been here for dinner twice, both times with groups, and every person liked every dish! My favorite appetizer was the Shrimp Corn Dogs. They had just the right amount of sweetness. We also liked the creative Avocado and Lump Crab 'Cannelloni'. I love the combination of shrimp and corn so I also ordered the Shrimp Corn Chowder. Wow! I got it again the second time I went. The crab cakes were very well crafted with plenty of crab. Really wowed. It's rare that a restaurant can surprise me and knock my socks off but it happened yesterday. Took the train from Manhattan to Raritan visit my parents for the weekend on a whim. The station is 25 minutes from where they live so we decided to go out for dinner in the area after. Not familiar with food options in Raritan or Somerville so I turned to Yelp for help! Searched Seafood and landed on Boulevard Seafood and am so happy Yelp brought me this option up. We saw the photos + the fact that it's BYOB and they happened to have a 4:45pm reso open so we took it (reservations are strongly encouraged on the weekends). Ordered: Mussels in white wine and jalapeño, little neck clams on the half shell, Stony Brook oysters on the half shell, Pappardelle and Shrimp, Octopus salad and the Boulevard Seafood Chopped Salad. Disclaimer- I order clams and oysters from the raw bar appetizer almost anywhere that serves them. Keep in mind I live in Manhattan and am surrounded by the best of the best in food. However, these were THE TASTIEST-FRESHEST-MOST INCREDIBLE CLAMS ON THE HALF SHELL I HAVE EVER EATEN IN MY LIFE! Maybe it was the freshly grated horseradish, maybe it was the quality of the clams. Or maybe the mound of ice it was presented on (anything on the half shell must be served incredibly cold to bring out its flavor). The best standout dish that nearly knocked me off my chair was the Pappardelle and Gulf Shrimp dish. JESUS! Did they sprinkle mystical flavor on top? This place is always busy so definitely recommend making reservations. Boulevard Seafood Company is a staple in our Somerville restaurants rotation. It's perfect for an elevated night out, date night and someone's birthday (usually my birthday pick!). Like most Somerville restaurants, this place is BYOB which is always a plus in my book. Forgot to BYO? There is a liquor store just half a block away so you can run out before your entrée arrives. My absolute favorite is the Seafood Risotto but you can't go wrong with really any of the items on the menu. I said I love seafood so I've also tried the Lobster Roll, Fish Tacos w fries, Surf & Turf, Swordfish and Paella for Two - my stomach is officially growling! It's also non-negotiable to have to start with their crispy calamari, Cannelloni, Mussels or Poke. My only real critique is that there haven't really been any changes or additions to the menu that I've noticed over the past few years - there are usually specials but there is nothing wrong with reviving the menu every now and then. I have to end by saying that I also love the vibe inside - the décor is the perfect mix of classic Somerville and trendy seafood restaurant with the exposed brick with colorful paintings and black shades over the huge old windows. This place was once fantastic -- creative dishes, all delicious and truly offering wonderfully fresh seafood meals, even if crowded. Last night we dined with another couple, who like us had eaten here a number of times and loved it. We had reservations at 6 pm because this place usually gets packed. What should have been my first clue that something had changed was that we were the third or fourth table filled on a Friday night. I may be wrong, but the menu seemed pared down and more focused on sandwich or afternoon food. But this place isn't opened for lunch!Certainly, the few specials were underwhelming. They used to be numerous and all sounded delicious. Once we ordered, we were all a bit disappointed. Appetizers were shareable so we had oysters and fried calamari. (Yeah, pretty pedestrian.) The oysters were fine, nothing special. But the sauces were dull. A mignonette and some horseradish and ketchup. Like I said fine, not creative or adventurous. It was the entrees that really disappointed. I got the lobster risotto, which I remember as being absolutely delicious. This one was a bit gummy and incredibly salty. Almost inedible. My husband got the tuna, which he ordered rare but it came out well done. Another diner said his branzino (a special) was just okay. But my friend, who had the snapper (another special) , had trouble eating hers due to its saltiness. Dessert offerings were limited to a handful of pies and a dish of berries and whipped cream. Very little whipped cream to balance the tartness of the berries. Service was just okay. The waiter was new -- nice enough -- but when I asked him to read the specials, he said he'd prefer to wait on the other couple who were still looking for parking. As we were leaving, all disappointed, we noticed that on a Friday night, most tables were empty at 8:15. Obviously a new chef. New owners? I just want to forewarn diners that this formerly fabulous place has gone downhill pretty fast. read more

My wife ordered Parpadelle and Gulf Shrimp. My Tuna Burger is medium and well cooked. The veggies that came with it blended well with the fish patty. Taste good, not fishy. The fish tacos is spot on! The Parpadelle have huge shrimps and mixed well with the pasta. The sauce that they mixed with it is delicious, no shrimps taste. Even we have reservations, there's a little bit of wait to get our table. Maybe because of Father's Day? Servers are helpful and courteous. Place is small, but sittings were well planned.
