The Riverside was a fun pub restaurant in another life called the Crocodile Inn and I hadn't been there since then. Now, it's a revived, much better, version with a great outdoor bar that serves HUGE mixed drinks. The menu is fresh and has something for everyone. It was great to see people of all ages there. Inside on weekends there is a band and the place closes relatively late for this area. Meals available range from sandwiches between $15-$18 all the way to steaks or fish dishes costing around $33. You have to tell people you charge a service fee for cards. That's something cheap convenience stores do but it's unheard of in a restaurant. You guys need to display that you charge a fee for cards not just tack it on at the end that's dishonest. read more

On a nice day you can enjoy the outdoor dining. Opted for the basic items on the menu which were fine. The beer (Sam Adams Summer) was excellent, however, do not be fooled by the term "Happy Hour". Our waitress neglected to inform us that there was an upcharge for onion rings. She also said "it's Happy Hour Thursday" when we debated ordering another round. She could not explain the "Happy" discount when we finally received the attached bill. $2 off the entire bill is more like a "Happy Minute" discount. We did have a nice dining experience. The entertainment was good. Just beware of the hidden upcharges and non-traditional use of "Happy", which is why I gave it 2 stars. read more

Food is not great. Ordered pierogies to see that they were frozen(ew). The meatloaf was not good at all and not what I was expecting. It looked like a sloppy mush dowsed in brown gravy and had red peppers that made the taste of it aweful. The mashed potatoes that came with it tasted fake and the broccoli was bland. My daughter's mac and cheese was ehh. There's plenty of other places in the area with much better food. Was pretty disappointed to the point that I didn't want to order anything else even though I was pretty hungry. I will not be going back. read more

Holy moly, this is some of the best classic American food we've had in a long time. We found this place randomly on Yelp I think and the cute exterior and and being so local we were eager to give it a shot. We got the mango habanero wings (omg yum!), the riverside pasta with shrimp, and a burger. Every single bite was more delicious than the previous. Even the fries were seasoned nicely and just fantastic. The restaurant inside is a little bit lackluster, but the staff was friendly and the service was great. If you aren't big on dogs this might not be your place, but he/she was well behaved and owners were quite attentive. We will for SURE be back and recommending it all around. read more

I read the other reviews and I think that they are giving this place too much credit. On the upside it has good food, plenty of TVs to watch whatever, a great staff that is very attentive. Although it is just an average older looking bar tucked in Neshanic. Its decorations are sub par, the feel of the place during daylight hours is less than desirable. We first came here after they opened in 2021. The place was clean and the back patio looked like a nice location to hang out. The server was kind, but it took a long time to get waited on. Fast forward to 2023 - what a difference. The place is still clean and the back patio is still a great place to handout. But the big change is the quality of food. Each of the 3 times we came here in 2023 the food and service have been outstanding. The bacon jam burger is excellent. We also came here with friends who ordered the fish and short rib. Both were exceptional. I hope they can keep these standards as we will return and also recommend the Riverside to our friends. Found this place looking at the maps app trying to find something new. Didn't expect to find a place off the main roads. Real local vibe, was remodeled roughly a year ago or so. Very nice inside. Bartender was extremely pleasant and attentive. Manager was hands on helping out. We got the buffalo wings, NY strip, and a bar pie. All were excellent! Tap beer tasted great (you can tell the lines are taken care of). So happy this place exceeded any expectations I had. I intend on coming back many more times! read more

I wish I could rate the food but, unfortunately, it never even got to the point of trying the food, let alone even ordering the food or drinks. We were told to sit anywhere and sat at a table near the bar which neither the bar nor dining areas were busy. After sitting for a few minutes, I had a bad feeling that the staff was going to be unattentive. After waiting several minutes without any of the three servers even bothering to come over to us or give menus, I told my girlfriend I was giving it five more minutes before walking out. Unsurprisingly, my prediction about the horrible service came true and we left and went to an excellent place where we have never had one bad experience over the course of years - Star Diner. Thank you, Star Diner for having attentive staff and a great menu. I don't think I will bother giving Riverside Inn another chance - this was the first time we have ever felt completely ignored considering we were in direct view of patrons at the bar whom the staff were engaging conversations in. read more

Stopped in for lunch today with the family. The place is nicely renovated from the previous bar/restaurant. The menu is uncomplicated in a good way. Wife got a burger and I got the cheesesteak. Both were well-made. Our server was super friendly. I also felt very safe (i.e., well-spaced, everyone masked). I wish more places like this existed - hometown bar/restaurant with great food and people. I'm certainly rooting for this place to succeed! read more

Everything was great. First time I have been there since the big renovation. Used to be the Neshanic Inn. Staff is great. Polite, patient and helpful. Place is spotless. Plenty of room to have a family dinner. Loved the wings and the rest of the food we had gotten, My only complaint was the pizza was horrible. We won't be ordering that again. We came here to have an early lunch with a few family members for Christmas . This place was clean and airy and we sat in a separate dining room away from the bar. Sorry I didn't get the young ladies name, but she was quite experienced and efficient. We heard the specials and ordered. Drinks came quickly. Two delicious chicken sandwiches, pork chops & rice, cheesesteak, shrimp in a basket and a garden salad with shrimp. Not one complained as we munched away. The French fries were surprisingly crispy and tasty. Afterwards, we had coffee and the chocolate mousse pie. Yum! We picked this place because it was a halfway meeting place for all of us. This place is quite a bit bigger than we thought from the online pics. Sorry I didn't take any pics to post myself. I suggest sometime down the road, the tables and the room could reflect the history of this building and it's location. For now, maybe paper placemats with a little historical FYI. Place is nice and local. As a result, you should expect nice and local food. We stopped by after the summer patio season, so we missed that fun. We are a family of 3 and the atmosphere isn't exactly set for a family of 3 (not a younger family place).... Be that as it may, everyone was nice and our server was terrific. Wife had the tacos (good, but spicy), child had a cheeseburger (good, but no pickle), and I had the mushroom and Swiss burger (good, but don't request sweet potato fries). I'm a regular here for a casual drink, but I highly recommend coming here for more than a drink. Chef Pat has always elevated your standard bar menu; chicken quesadilla are a staple favorite and it shows how much love is put into the food. The chicken is succulent and cooked to perfection which makes this bar classic a home run. Not only has the bar menu and food always hit, but his specials are out of this world. The veal osso bucco special they recently ran with egg noodles was off the charts. The most tender flavorful veal I've had in a long time. AND now they have a smoker.. If you are ever there when they are running a special I highly encourage you to venture out and try whatever chef pat is whipping up. 10/10 all bartenders are top notch as well. read more
