This is a family run business. The owners have been in business for 13 years and their motto is to have everything fresh. We were welcomed in upon arrival, the food was prepared quick and delivered to our table. The ambiance is nothing fancy but the overall feel was comfortable. I love that the owners address each other as "sweetheart". They treat each other with love and that is what they put into the food. The chicken tenders are pretty big, the owners suggested 1-2 for my son and he was right. He ate 1 and it was more than enough for him. I had the mango platter. Tender Lovin' Grill is a great spot with a variety of dishes available! Food: I got a 3 piece tender combo that came with a side and a drink. My wife got a cilantro burrito (not pictured) that she really enjoyed. I really liked the Mac and cheese. It tasted more like pasta with a homemade cream sauce than a traditional Mac and cheese but it was very good. The chicken tenders were huge and perfectly cooked. As you can see in the picture, really juicy. Only reason for 1 star off is that the breading could've used more seasoning. Ambiance: TLG is more of a casual spot with a few tables inside if you're grabbing a quick bite. Overall, good experience and will be back to try more! read more

I hate to leave a 1-star review, but the food I purchased demands honesty. However, let me first start off by saying that this is not personal. The staff I interacted with were incredibly polite, welcoming, and friendly. If their wraps/burritos were any good, I would happily come back often. Although I will say that the place was quite empty when we got there, so maybe that should've been a sign? Also, the owner there also told me that they never check their Yelp reviews, so I have no faith that this review will help them improve anything, but may it will at least help spare someone from the experience I had. Anyway, the $15 wraps we got were insanely overpriced for how bad they were, and I honestly could've gotten better quality at a Del Taco for half the price. I got a flank steak burrito, and was remarkably disappointed. Now before you say that I ordered wrong or that the steak burrito isn't what's good here or whatever, I came in and told the owner that I wanted their absolute favorite thing on the menu, and this was their recommendation, which is why I went with it. Steak sandwich sounded great and I was very eager. The burrito I got was just wholeheartedly irredeemable. I only kept eating it because I was on the road and starving, didn't have time to stop for something else, and I had spent almost $35 on 2 sandwiches! The meat was seasoned with some sort sort of cheap taco seasoning that was very heavy on the cumin, and had no salt. I had to fight through dense bland meat with each bite. No only was the steak super tough, but instead of cutting it up into bit size chunks, they cut it into huge thick strips that ran down the length of the burrito; whenever I took a bite, the whole damn thing kept wanting to come apart in my lap. Additionally, they included shredded iceberg lettuce in it. Now I know some people actually like lettuce in their burritos (freaking weirdos), but this particular lettuce is that awful stuff that just tastes like dirt water. I honestly can't remember a more disappointing food item in a very long time. I resented the damn thing with every bite, but I was starving and was out of options time wise. I really liked the people working there, and I would like to see them do well, but I could never return for that food. I came back for another pickup order consisting of 25 wings. The honey garlic were once again ordered as well as the buffalo wings. The wings for both types of wings were even meatier this time around than my previous visit here. Some of the meat was a little tough given the size. Besides that, the honey garlic sauce was ideal (see previous review for similar thoughts regarding the sauce.) We ordered takeout from here for dinner while visiting with my brother-in-law, and they were pretty good about pointing out gluten-free options over the phone. They apparently do have a gluten-free menu, but it's not on their website, so they offer to either email it or can walk through it on the phone. We decided on the Oh My Goodness salad, which is a bunch of veggies with grilled chicken and a lime vinaigrette. My wife and I really enjoyed the salad quite a bit - great mix of flavors from cole slaw, cooked broccoli and cauliflower, and the typical garden salad ingredients. I've lived in Hillsborough for years but never tried this place. We decided to give it a try and were pleasantly surprised. I got the adobo burrito which was very tasty but maybe a little too spicy. The wings were amazing and some of the best wings in town, they are huge and very well seasoned. I decided to go again and tried the chicken blt wrap, which I liked better than the burrito I got and we ordered wings again which were great again and the ranch sauce they serve them with is amazing. The staff is very friendly, although the interior could probably use a refresh, not that it matters if the food is good. The menu is pretty diverse so this is a great place to get a quick takeout lunch or dinner if people can't decide on what they want and I will definitely be going again. read more

Over the few years I have lived in Hillsborough I have been a patron to TLG. The menu features alot of staple chicken items such as burritos, delicious tenders, sandwiches and salads. However, they have a weekly specials menu with alot more of fun and diverse items, which I usually order from. They also have gluten free options usually. The food is freshly prepared so it does take some time, but the food quality is there. The chicken is very tasty. So if you're in a rush, call ahead to order and pickup. What I like too is how the business is local owned and operated. They work there almost everyday alongside the local high schoolers they hire and teach how to correctly prepare food. Great for the community. My only gripe is that it is pricey, what you see in my picture costed over $13, no drink. However, I do feel the quality of ingredient and prep is there to justify it. This was one of the only few places that stayed open during the pandemic through the start of it and I'm very thankful for that. It gave me the opportunity to try it since I wanted some quick food, and I did not get disappointed. All I really wanted was some good chicken tenders and these were phenomenal! Their Carolina BBQ is an amazing addition to it. Prices are good as well, exactly what I expect from a local take-out place (so to speak). I started making this my weekly stop for a while because I really liked how clean it was and how well prepared the food was, and I got it quick! Staff is friend too. Had been wanting to try this restaurant/take-out since they opened and finally popped in right after restrictions (COVID) lifted. The young (high school aged kids) working the front register were not trained well, could barely answer questions on what was in certain items on menu. Had to keep referring to someone in the back (manager/owner) to get answers. Ended up ordering a burrito and a chicken salad. It was okay, nothing to rave about. Would of really liked to get more information on other menu items that looked good, but due to some dietary restrictions didn't want to take chance just ordering and didn't want to wait for the back/forth with person in back area. I'd give this place a solid 3.5. I was alittle dissapointed as their google review is at 4.6 and in my opinion it's just not there. I got the chicken burrito, it was underwhelming with little seasoning to be found. A touch of salt would have helped it tremendously. I fortunately got chicken fingers, while the chicken fingers were dry, the creamy cilantro sauce really kicked up the burrito and saved it, it was really good. My husband got the flank steak burrito and he felt the same, very under seasoned. He liked the chicken tenders a lot more then I did. I moved from somerville into hillsborough and hillsborough has a lot less options as far as close food. For that reason I will try something else here again as it is so close. Holy crap. Stopped here for lunch while working. Freshly made to order everything. You will wait 5 or so minutes but it's worth it. Ordered 5 tenders to go and it's amazing. This place is as mediocre as mediocre can get. The food isn't BAD... it's just not good. Would I eat here in a pinch? Absolutely. If I'm starving? Of course. Not a place I would venture to. The menu is reminiscent of an Applebee's ripoff: classic American with "ethnic" twists in it that people who have never actually experienced another culture think ethnic food tastes like. Stopped to grab lunch since I was told they accommodate vegans. I ordered the quinoa salad bowl which has roasted sweet potatoes, cranberries, cabbage, greens. It is SO good! Before ordering I confirmed that the quinoa was vegan along with the actual salad, sweet potatoes and dressing. It is the perfect filling, healthy salad for lunch. Plus, the owners are actually working in the kitchen and register and they are the ones making the food which is so nice to see. The place is clean and has seating inside with a small table outside. We just moved to Hillsborough the past June and have been slowly trying all the local eating spots. This place wasn't bad. The interior is nice and clean and the staff is friendly enough. I ordered the carnitas burrito bases on another yelp review and found it to be pretty good. Not the best I've had but certainly not the worst. The flavor was good and the meat was well seasoned but next time I'll probably try customizing it to with some cheese and sour cream if they offer it. I also got a small side of the cilantro lime rice which was pretty bland. Overall experience was pretty good. I'd go back to try out other items on theirs menu. read more

Tonight, my husband and I finally gave this place a try. I ordered one of the specials - a chicken mushroom melt with bacon on a hearty whole grain bread with lots of delicious oozy cheese, and my husband ordered the chicken burrito. Both were fantastic - really fresh ingredients, great tasting, and made with tender loving care. We can't wait to go back and try the other burritos and specials. YUM!! This is one of our go-to places for takeout. They have a pretty big menu so everyone can find something with tons of healthy, fresh options. I usually get their salads and each one has been good. They are pretty big with generous portions of chicken. My kids usually get the burrito that has chicken, black beans, rice and corn. I got the grilled chicken sandwich and I loved the tangy, sweet bbq sauce that had a spicy kick. Be prepared with tons of napkins though because it's huge and really messy! My only wish for this place is that the chicken would be a little better spiced and salted. I don't come here often even though I live close by, but I should come here more. Everything I've had is good and the food pep time is pretty fast, I'm never waiting very long. (My food was ready before I even finished this review) Happy that they have Stewart's root beer and the chocolate soda is interesting. The chicken is some of the best I've had in town and I really enjoy the different sauces they offer, especially the chipotle BBQ. The potato slices were really good as well.
