Me again. What started out as a private space for me time on the first Tuesday of the month has slowly evolved to a place I take people that I love. I brought Drusband for my birthday and the next week I brought my 2 best friends. Each time it lives up to the hype due to the friendliness of the staff and the tastiness of the beer. I was extra delighted last Sunday when I met up with my besties on their way back from PA to their home in Long Island. There's nothing my friends love more than books and beer so to finally be at the place where I enjoy both was very nice. They brought their 11yo daughter who also had a good time. It seemed like half of book club was there too lol which to me says a lot about this place - people CHOOSE to come here even when they don't "have" to. Special shout to owner Billy and bartender Nicole. I am typically quite introverted and due in part to them and others they work with I feel quite at home and talkative. I love it here! So wanted to try something new and landed at this place. I love vibe and all the seating and space. I love that they have live music because I'm a sucker for that. I love the beverage selection because there's something for everyone. I like that you can bring your own food OR buy from the food truck of the day. I love the staff because each one was sweet and friendly. BUT I didn't like the flavor of my drinks. I got a fight and was happy that they give 8 oz pours but they just didn't taste good. Also, I asked for the sangria but she gave me the Frose. The only promising one was the Passionfruit Orange Guava hard cider. Come to the Kringle market for over 45 vendors food trucks and live entertainment . So fun to look at all the vendors and then enjoy snacks and foods and maybe a cocktail at the distillery or a beer in the warm beer hall. The pizza food truck sold meatballs yet these weee disappointing as they were small, expensive and cold . Not mammas meatballs the market is outdoors so dress warm and you pay for parking so wear proper shoes if wet or warmer as you walk in mud. I am glad we found this place because it's awesome!!! Like I always say, "If I'm in your town I'm looking for the closest brewery to put some craft beers down!" Ha! This place is located off the main road and behind some apartments and beside a distillery. The building is beautiful and it's vibey and spacious and beautifully done. There is a nice outside sitting area as well. There were a lot of people there the day we went and everyone was happy and enjoying themselves :) The staff was friendly and the beers were great! We ordered: - FRED - The IPA for me(Excellent) - Watson's Next Hair Color (Mango + Peach) for my gf(Excellent) - Soft pretzel from the food truck outside(Good) The only bad thing was the bartender asked if we wanted to open a tab and I said yes but I wanna pay cash when we are done but instead of taking the card and swiping like most do and handing it back and closing out when we were done he kept the card and after leaving to go to Princeton we went to pay for parking and realized he never gave it back to us. What a great spot! Met up with some friends for the Christmas jazz music night. What a great atmosphere: repurposed barn with two floors of seating and very warm, inviting feel. The drinks are really something special. I tried their house made seltzer and it was light, fizzy and perfectly flavored. I sampled some of the paler ales and they were excellent too. read more

Discovered this place recently as I came here for a cousin's birthday. This place got the vibe being on a barn, giving a biergarten vibe with a food truck outside and a distillery nextdoor. It was about a 20 min local drive for me, so it may end up being a pretty fun place to come to in the future. Plenty of beers to taste. I wasn't around long, so had the Fred & the American IPA. They come in flights so it isn't super heavy. Prices are relatively affordable but -1 star for incorporating cash discounts in 2024. Sigh. There is a 2nd floor mostly reserved for events. There are a bunch of long tables scattered on the main floor for people to sit. I figure it gets packed during the spring/summer/fall seasons. I like that there are board games too. It can keep you occupied for a long while. Also cool that you can bring your own food too. Parking is plenty so that is not an issue either. read more

I love that there is now a brewery in Hillsborough steps from my childhood home! This is a great spot that captures the modern farm brewery ambiance in the middle of our town. Came here for the first time cause my husband loves breweries and this place is a GEM. They have an amazing selections of beers, some alcohol based slushees as well and non alcoholic drinks (quiet a few pregnant people including myself that were still able to enjoy!). The atmosphere is inviting and laid back feel - perfect for a brewery. They have indoor and outdoor seating and you can bring dogs as well (restricted to the front portion but still pet friendly- would call ahead of time if you are going to bring your furry friend though). Also they have this amazing fresh brick oven pizza truck with a selection of sweet vs. savory pizza options. I've been to flounders a few times now and each time I have a great experience. It's a go-to anytime I have friends in town and I have particularly enjoyed both the indoor and outdoor atmospheres. There are 2 outdoor spaces well lit and warm, and one indoor space. The servers who work at the bar are very knowledgeable of the place's history and the brews. The hard seltzers are my absolute favorite, and the beers and seltzers alike are seasonal, so they are always fresh and suited for the changing weather. The board games offered in house always allows for a great time, and I often spend hours amongst friends, drinking and playing. I love this local craft brewery in the heart of Hillsborough. They've moved and are now at the Carriage Farm. It's a very relaxed atmosphere. Inside it has a rustic feel like your in a barn. The ceilings are exposed, and wood all around. There are tables inside and out for seating. Inside there's actual tables and chairs, and outside it's picnic style seating with long tables and benches. Flounder Brewing Company doesn't offer food, but there's a food truck outside that sells authentic mexican food. You can bring it inside or eat it outside. The food truck staff will even deliver to your table. They really do a great job.(You can also bring in your own food.) I saw people who brought in subs and pizza. What's really cool is you can bring your own board games and play a couple of rounds while enjoying their delicious craft beers. I believe you can even borrow a few from the brewery. One table even celebrated an adult birthday, and brought in a birthday cake. The owner who goes by the name of Flounder got his name from Animal House. This is why the brewery is called Flounder Brewing Company. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable and helped me choose some delicious craft beers. My favorite was their Bloody Rye PA. It had great flavor. Next was Post Digger Porter (Nitro) and Hill Street Honey Blond Ale. They were all very tasty. Upstairs is a private room for parties, and there's free parking in their lot. Right on the property next door is Belle Mara which is a distillery. It is set to open by Christmas 2021. I've visited Flounder Brewery a few times and its definitely grown on me. My last few visits were much better and their beers are good. Its one of the local breweries in the area and the future is looking bright for them. They have secured a new location that's currently scheduled to open in fall 2020. Their current location is not as big so I'm definitely looking forward to visiting them when they move. Don't forget to sign up for their email alerts, every week I get updates on what's on tap which is always beneficial for me. I recently had the opportunity to meet the brew master Doug. He is really passionate about his beers and was telling me about his upcoming productions. I'm definitely very impressed with the different types of beers they produce especially during the winter months. Flounder Brewing has now moved into a new farmhouse location. I cannot believe how highly they have now upgraded. They used to be quaint, small, and just in an industrial park. Now they have a Vermont style farmhouse feel and remind me of Source in Colts Neck or Screamin' Hill. The weather was nice on the October Saturday I went. Maybe 200 people were there. The crowd is really upscale. A band played music while I was there. They also have a loft area upstairs that can be reserved for special events. The first IPA I tried was very good. Although they don't do flights on busy days, I understand. There's no bar to hang out at. Definitely bring a group and some beach chairs on a nice day. read more

Great, open barn brewery with plenty of beers on tap. Went on a Saturday afternoon and there were still a few free tables despite the great weather. Also a good amount of parking - no trouble finding a spot. The beers were pretty diverse, including reds, IPAs, and golden ales. They all had tasty flavors, nothing too overpowering or off-putting. The only swing and miss on our day was the house root beer, which may have been the worst soda I've ever tasted. It was so bad that I have to think the syrup/carbonation was messed up, as it couldn't have been the flavor they were going for. On top of the beers, the place has a very cool backstory, including original woodworking from the Dutch style of barnmaking. Visited Flounder Brewing on an unseasonably warm November afternoon. A wonderful space to enjoy some quality brews and take advantage of the activities on the property. Quality: I was very impressed by the beers I tried at Flounder Brewing. A nice well rounded beer list with a mix of seasonal and popular options. During my visit I tried both smoked beers The Pitmaster and Smoked Colonial Ale, as well as Drunkin Pumpkin, Ichabod's Folly, and Choco Bock. The only one I was not crazy about was The Pitmaster, as the maple flavor made it a bit sweet for me. I would gladly order any of the others, though the Smoked Colonial Ale was my slight favorite. Quantity: Eighteen taps with beer sizes delineated on the menu. Value: $7 for Draft Pours. Ambiance: Flounder Brewing is located in Hillsborough, New Jersey. The brewery occupies a large barn on a working farm. The space has both a front and back patio, then plenty of additional seating inside. There also appeared to be a large room upstairs for private parties. No substantial food inside, but on the weekend they had both food and craft stands. We had a fabulous 60th birthday party for my husband here. We reserved the upstairs room and had a catered by Alfonso's restaurant in Hillsborough. There are many restrictions and it is a pain to bring everything up and down the steps but it was still a great party. It's a reasonable price for a nice space, but it is very noisy and you're not allowed to have your own music. The staff were helpful and friendly and reserving the place was easy to do. read more

The beer is meh, certainly not worth the rude bartenders, especially the younger tattooed ones. They can't take jokes, have no sense of humor & will flag you in the computer system after two beers if they choose. Old Heights in Hightstown has much better beer and far nicer servers.
