On our travel's to upstate New York, this gem popped up in the way. Great service, delicious food, very clean and cozy. Definitely hope to pass thru on our trip back. Don't skip out on this spot! Definitely a happy customer !

Chef salad

Unfortunately, we weren't a fan. There were 2 total tables and it took 40 mins for a chef salad & Turkey sandwich.. The Turkey tasted like Turkey already sliced, not fresh sliced turkey. The avocado was good & the dressing weren't good. House was fine, just oil & vinegar but the ranch was bottled & it tasted bad. It was freezing cold in there as well. The fries would of tasted great but they were totally mushy... sad because we really wanted to like this place!

Three Bridges Cafe (inside dining area)

Just had an outstanding lunch at the recently-opened Three Bridges Cafe, 430 Main Street, Three Bridges (next to RR tracks). It's not fancy or "upscale," (no tablecloths or cloth napkins), but the food is excellent and service is very friendly; take-out or eat-in. Dining room is clean and comfortable. Open for breakfast, lunch & dinner. Hopefully residents will help this small local business succeed.

Sweet Melissa Patisserie

Nice place for lunch located on Lebanon Rt 31. This place has a nice, homy feel. The service was great. We got seated right away and had no wait. I would recommend this place for a nice, healthy lunch. The price was reasonable as well. I would return if I were in the area again for a meal. They have many danishes to buy by the register, definitely worth checking out.

Sadly, a poor experience and we are thoroughly disappointed. We were seated promptly, and had our lunch orders taken promptly which was great. Unfortunately those were the positives. The wait for our food was extensive - I was checking my watch to avoid being overly impatient as it dragged on especially because I always tell my kids not to complain and to be patient. Adult starter salads came out within 20 minutes, but nothing else came again until 55 minutes after ordering. The kids' starter fruit cups never came until I asked for them after their 'main' courses had come. Two of my girls ordered the kids' scrambled eggs which was a plate of scrambled eggs with a single piece of toast. My third ordered the kid's french toast which arrived as a small, single piece of french toast, with no fruit/compote, etc on top as was supposed to. It was an incredibly small portion, especially for a hungry 9 year old after waiting for 55 minutes, such that I actually asked the waiter for another piece for her. When this arrived, it did have fruit/compote on top (inconsistency?). My wife ordered the eggs Benedict, which is her favorite, and it was fine but the eggs were overpoached for what it's worth. I had the Healthy Meal - it was fine but nothing amazing. For the majority of the 55 minute gap between the placement of the order and arrival of the food (minus two salads) our server almost never came by to check on us or assure us of timing, and he never refilled waters or asked about drink refills for the kids. We all ordered egg-based meals, and the table had no pepper or ketchup on it or brought out with the food, nor butter for toast. Yes, we could have asked for it, and we would have if the food had come sooner, but after the long wait we just wanted to expedite, eat, and go. The manager did check with us one time before food arrival at which point I mentioned the kids still did not have their starter fruit cups, and she advised our food was coming out soon. Main courses require cooking, but a fruit cup takes about 30 seconds to put together, and the children at the table next to us received and ate fruit cup starters long before their mains arrived - again, no consistency. Things happen, cafes and restaurants encounter challenges, and we are pretty understanding of that so would not have likely bothered to submit a review for one bad experience were it not for what was said in front of us before we left. Another family of four (two young ones) next to us had clearly been having a similar experience to us and did not kick up an overt fuss, but must have submitted a complaint at some point before leaving. After they left, we were the only people in the front room for a few moments while the manager and owner were nearby chatting and clearing the other table. The manager told the owner of the other family's complaint that they had waited "an hour and twenty minutes" for their meals, at which point the owner inquired from her if they had really waited that long, and she said "no it was only 45." The owner then proceeded to dismiss the complaint and stated "isn't that what Mother's Day is all about?" or something to that effect, I assume suggesting that on Mother's Day we should all be happy and/or expecting a long, leisurely meal. I have no idea if their wait was 80 mins but if it was like ours it was probably more than 45 - like I said, I was actually counting. Secondly, having that conversation out in the open in front of other patrons is highly unprofessional, especially if you are going to be so dismissive. It is also tone-deaf to the fact that perhaps the patrons you are having the discussion in front of might also have had a similar experience and actually feel almost exactly the same way the first family did - in which case it is a legitimate shortcoming of the meal process that day, not an easily dismissed one-off complaint by a disgruntled patron. Finally, in no way should an eatery's owner use the premise of what Mother's Day is "about" in his mind as a weak justification for poor/slow service. I love a leisurely meal, if I am enjoying the food and taking my time, not spending the bulk of the time waiting for it. If the kitchen is slow for other reasons, so be it, just apologize and do something nice for that family that lodged a valid complaint. I was actually prepared to also speak to the owner about our experience, but after hearing his back-and-forth with the manager, it seemed pointless to do so privately as it would have been readily dismissed as well, I suspect. Hence an online review - which I have not done in years. Fair is fair, their takeout coffees and pastries are tremendous, and the barista staff has always been pleasant to me. But that is clearly their strength. We would not come here for a meal again.

JS Shaker Cafe, located right by the Hunterdon County municipal complex, has that classic,…read moreold-school diner vibe that works well if you want a quick, reasonably priced meal. However, my recent Sunday visit was a vaguely "meh" experience due to some disappointing service. We found out the hard way -- only after being seated, handed menus, and perusing our options -- that they strictly observe their "Breakfast Only" rule on Sundays. I was really craving a sandwich (having already eaten eggs earlier in the day), but when I asked for an accommodation, I got a blunt "No, we can't do that. We only serve breakfast on Sunday." I mentioned I was lactose-intolerant and almost all of the breakfast options (omelets, breakfast burger, etc.) were made with milk or cheese, but our server said the kitchen doesn't like making substitutions. This felt especially draconian considering there was only one other party seated in the restaurant at the time. To make matters worse, once I settled on a two-egg breakfast platter, the server informed me they were out of my first two meat preferences. My dining companion's omelete was served without key ingredients she added (and we were probably charged for). Our server never dropped off a check, so I walked up to the counter to pay after finishing our meal. Our server seemed genuinely surprised when I handed her enough cash to cover what she said our total was.. plus a ~20% tip (which I paid in spite of the service issues because I'm not a barbarian). The food itself was alright once it arrived, but the service just felt disjointed and "off" the entire time. It's a decent enough spot for the basics, but between the total lack of flexibility and the service hiccups, I'll say 2.5 stars rounded down to 2 stars and definitely won't try again next time I'm in Flemington. PRO TIP: They don't offer complimentary tap water with your meal, but they are happy to sell you a 16 oz plastic bottle of Poland Spring.
