Over the years since my first review this has become my favorite breakfast place although it's a bit of a drive for me now. Omelettes are great, simple egg breakfasts are also good and the specials are great when they have them. I rarely get pancakes or waffles so I can't comment. This week I went for lunch and had the chefs signature burger which was very good as were the fries. Staff are friendly. The place is always busy whenever I go. Highly recommended! read more

Do not go on a Holiday!! Service was awful, menu was limited due to holiday and extra crowded. We were served the food and had to wait more than 10 minutes for silverware. Had to wait for syrup and straws. Even to get the check at the end was hard. Not to even mention our server had an awful attitude and stopped by our table a good 2 times. Food was ok. I deeply despise the term "hidden gem," but I'm hard-pressed not to use it here. This place is in the middle of nowhere, and I was only aware of its existence from local word of mouth, despite this being essentially my original HQ and my high school being a very short ride down the road (and good luck even seeing this from the road). Subtle doesn't even begin to describe this location. I came here this past Sunday for lunch with some chums, including two honorary young pup chums. The young pups were primarily brought along in the hopes that there might be some airplane action optics for them, so on that basis alone it was a success - we had at least two planes land in front of the windows, prompting a mixture of squeals and shushes. We also took a quick walk outside afterwards to look at the planes parked (feels like there must be a better word it) off to the side of the runway, which was an exciting mini-adventure for them despite the nippiness. Just to underscore the random area this is in, you have to drive off a county highway past the entrance to Beneduce, and then into the Sky Manor Airport, which requires driving all the way around and behind the airport buildings until you ultimately arrive at the restaurant. You earn this one. The interior of this place is pretty memorable too - I've been in a few local airport cafes before, and this is on par with them. Lots of wood paneling that feels like an unintentional homage to everyone's grandparents' basement (where were the Dean Martin records?), coupled with airplane swag on the walls and just an overall old school diner feel. I don't know that this restaurant is necessarily historic in the sense that it's been here for decades, but it's cozy and seems lived in, if that makes sense. Very cool. I'd been emotionally preparing for breakfast/brunch but didn't realize that that specific menu cuts off before noon, so I hemmed and hawed quite a bit at the lunch menu. None of the burgers or sandwiches were really speaking to me so I went with the Arugula Salad with the grilled chicken add-on, featuring sweet potatoes, cranberries and a soft boiled egg. It's pretty rare for me to go salad, but this is the kind of I'm into, and it delivered. Huge portion (I was decently hungry and probably left a quarter of it on the plate), and all of the sweet and savory perfectly complemented each other. If you're into salad chains, it reminded me a lot of the harvest bowl option at Chopt or Sweet Green but honestly better. The one miss for me was dessert. The pups were clamoring for chocolate cake, so I agreed to split a slice of the red velvet with my chum. I had a bad feeling when I stuck my fork into the side and actually had trouble getting a bite size worth separated from the rest of the slice - it was that stale. I'm guessing that particular cake was at least a day old, which literally and figuratively left a bit of a bad taste in the mouth. Pretty avoidable mistake, in my opinion. The pups seemed delighted with their option, so I suppose you take the victories where you can. The service was very good. The young pups probably prompted the hospitality to tick up a notch, which is more than fine. Our waitress was very friendly and stopped by regularly. When we ordered the chocolate cake for the pups to split, she then sliced that up on her own initiative so each pup actually got their own small slice. Nice touch. Would love to try out the breakfast menu in the future, which probably has more intriguing options overall for me but regardless this was a solid win to jumpstart the year. I imagine the airport optics are also way better when you have the luxury of hanging out outside in non-polar vortex weather. read more

love love lovee this spot!! i recently tried this spot out for lunch and it was amazing! the restaurant has seating both indoors and outdoors. It was packed inside the restaurant and for a very good reason. The food was delicious! I was pleasantly impressed by how well balanced the flavors all were and how seasoned the food was. It was very good without a doubt. I had the spicy buttermilk fried chicken sandwich which was great, it was flavorful and crispy and filling. I tried the steak sandwich as well which was very good too. The service is also very good, the employees are very present and make sure everything is well. Family style restaurant serving breakfast and lunch. They have also outdoor seatings during nice weather. Although located in Sky Manor Airport which caters pilots , Sky Cafe is open to public serving good food at reasonable price. Service is fast extended by friendly, reliable, courteous and hardworking staff managed by the owner. The place is usually packed and busy specially during weekends. My first visit here and I was alone, my wife was working. Post NJ MVC for a Real ID and I was looking for a nice breakfast and a generous day! I settled on a cheddar cheese omelette with mortadella, home fries and rye toast. Unlimited coffee refills. My only regret was that my wife did not join me. The food was awesome and bountiful! Food was excellent but they should use a better reservation system. The parking is TERRIBLE if it's packed. If everyone knew their time it would space out the parking issues. Maybe on a holiday they should have an efficient menu, or something special to help speed up service? As related to reservation system, we got the text that our table was ready and that they hold it for 5 minutes. We started packing up the kids to walk over. By the time we got there, they gave away our reservation. As you can see, they didn't give it the full 5 minutes. I was watching the yelp app constantly as to not lose our place after waiting for 80+ minutes already, with a 4 month old and 2 year old! They quickly found us a new seat and it worked out, but it did make me feel like we were in the wrong. I know there were a ton of people waiting and I'm sure it's stressful, so I still give them a good review. We found this place as a mid-point to meet up with friends who were visiting from Florida. We both have kids and this place was a hit!! There was a little bit of a wait, but they were busy and we expected that. While waiting we watched the small planes landing and taking off so we had something to do to keep us busy! I got to touch down on their airstrip with a friend's plane and had lunch while we watch other amazing planes take off and land! What an experience, more up close than we can at Teterboro Airport! My table was literally facing the airstrip and there were so0o many cheerful kiddies dining as well, and made me feel like one again to0o. And very much likely, you don't need a plane to dine here! Besides their main attraction, their food was delicious! Had the arugala salad which was generous in size with a fanciful mix of sweet potato, toasty chickpeas, egg, walnuts & cranberries and a maple bacon dressing! DEFF RECOMMEND. Very decent diner esque breakfast place with the excitement of watching planes take off ! I've been wanting to try this place and I will admit I wasn't disappointed. Overall the food was very solid . Nothing crazy , eggs and hash browns , pancakes , steak and eggs and eggs Benedict were all ordered and everyone's plate was full and cooked well . Not the most adventurous menu but pretty solid . I don't think I'd stray from the usual morning suspects . The service was quick and very friendly . First time there and the biggest attraction was the airstrip and the opportunity to see small planes, take-off and land. To our surprise the food was excellent as well. We had the 2 French toasts, both excellent and with fresh fruits, just the right balance of sweetness. The Maverick Omelette was well made with slices of avocado on top and the Salmon Eggs Benedict's were just perfect, rarely would I say this but the arugula on the side with some oil and seasoning was amazing. I was about to order more just as a side. The staff is helpful and manages the craziness of rush hour on the weekend, even though they are backed up. As for the ambiance, what's not to love, you are on a freakin airfield. Just awesome !! Wish they promoted more and had some flying events to attract more tourists. read more

We had a turkey avocado wrap and 2 burgers with sweet chili peppers. The food was very good. The reason I am not giving 4 stars is the restaurant was not clean. It was at the end of the 4th so it was probably busy. But there was debris on the floor, wet area next to the bus station which needed to be walked over to get to the bathroom and flies because the door was propped open. Service was not great. We had to ask for things instead of being asked. Tip was automatically added to the bill without warning. read more

This place doesn't look like much from the outside. I now understand why it's so popular. This is a small cafe located at Sky Manor Airport in Pittstown. The cafe itself is directly next to the airport, and you can see the planes taking off and landing. They are open for breakfast and lunch. They do not take reservations. There's some seating inside and out. They only have 1 table to hold 6 people. What makes this place outstanding is their unique menu items like homemade Crepes topped with Fig Preserves and Whipped Cream, Bacon Stuffed French Toast,Coconut Brioche French Toast, Fried Mortadella Sandwich, and Lemon Ricotta Pancakes with Pistachios, Smoked Salmon Benedict, are just a few to mention. They also offer your standard breakfast like 2 eggs over easy with potatoes,or Jersey Pork Roll Caramelized Onions, Smoked Gruyère for a twist. A lot of their dishes are named after aviation like Maverick, Blackhawk, Aviator, Spitfire, Propeller. Children love to come here and watch the planes come and go. Second time back and just as tasty as the first time. The first time we ordered, they brought it to you packed to go, and we sat tarmac side at the outdoor tables. This time around, table service is back. My wife ordered the egg & cheese sandwich with pepper jack cheese and added avocado and salsa, it was indeed tasty. I again ordered the vegetable benefit [charcoaled portabella mushroom, spinach, fried tomato, and sundried tomato, hollandaise sauce over Penella bread] which was better this time around. Hot from the grill to the plate made the difference. With all the great ingredients it was a flavor tango on my taste buds. A must-have dish. This place is awesome for kiddos! Brought my two year old and one year old here and they loved every bit of it! When you first get there, they have an iPad where you join their waitlist. You will get text updates on how long until your table is ready. you can also check how many people are ahead of you, doesn't just give you a time frame. Super accurate and convenient when you are walking around with your kiddos. Service was amazing. They were absolutely packed, but our waitress checked on us every single time she walked by to wait on other tables. We sat outside, so can't speak on the inside, but that was our choice. Planes are not loud that it will bother you and they are constantly taking off and landing. Food was delicious. We got the bacon stuffed French toast, banana and chocolate chips pancakes, and the avocado BLT. Portions are large and everything was ready fairly quickly.
