We happened to be in the area and decided to treat ourselves to some nice authentic French pastries . We settled on an Almond Croissant and a black drip coffee! Service is always excellent although they admittedly offered one staff short, a very cool casual ambiance A really great local coffee house and French pastries bakery. The line of customers, appeared to be regulars, speaks volumes.

monkey bread, cinnamon roll, guava pastry, all meh. not pictured, the bagel sandwich they forgot to remove the onions from.

I really wanted like it. The insta videos looked great. But everything was below average. The horchata didn't really taste like horchata. The coffee was bland. Nothing made with laminated dough had the crunch it was supposed to have. Many things were sold out, and perhaps one of them would have been great. But the four items we ordered were no better than what was sold at your local bagel place, while being twice the price. Maybe all this is a side effect of their surge in popularity, but if so, they need to fix it. Their line management was terrible, their quantities were out of whack, and the quality of the food and drink didn't make up for these issues. I visit a new cafe every week, and so far this has been my biggest disappointment.

This bakery is located in downtown Flemington and there's street parking along Main Street. It's open in the mornings and closes early afternoon Thursday through Sunday. I recommend going early as items do sell out quick and the line to order can get long. The menu rotates weekly so I love coming back to try different pastries. It is very pricey but portion sizes are huge. I usually get takeout but the inside is decorated very nicely with natural colors.

This place is just spectacular. I'm only sad that it took me until now to discover it. The ambience/vibe, the amazing baked goods, the friendly service... I'm not sure where to start. It's all worth five stars for sure. The lines are long since the demand is so high, but they keep it moving and clearly there's a reason it's so popular! I could hardly choose what to have. I'll be back next time for a drink. Only downer was that we tried to sit outside on the super cute porch, but the wasps seem to enjoy what a sweet place this is. And my kids didn't seem to find the wasps very sweet, so that was a bit of a downer on our time. We'll be back for more asap!

I was visiting my cousin as I'm from NC and she took me to this amazing cafe. I thought it was ridiculous to drive 40 minutes for brunch but omg was the drive worth it!!!!! The croissants are so fresh. The coffee is delicious and the staff is very friendly. A bit of line to order but it moved fast. I even ordered a cinnamon roll for the journey home and I demolished every bit of it. If you're in Jersey or visiting like I was I highly recommend this place.

Popped by after a rave from locals about the sourdough croissants from here. Limited hours so check before stopping by, clean open space with parking in the back, friendly service, gorgeous breads and pastries. My faves were the sourdough with sea salt and olive oil, ham and cheese sourdough croissant with everything on top (even better toasted!). Prices a tad higher than I expected, appreciate their origin story, that the owner is actively and passionately engaged in the day to day

This is a solid a go-to for breakfast pastries and coffee. Heard about it from my niece and looked up their IG account. Of course the pics on their website look delicious but they definitely back it up in taste and texture. We bother ordered savory pastries, which when you look at it...:looks huge. How we that just shows how light and fluffy they are. Airy and fluffy lol. Everyone is nice and smiled while speaking with you. A small gesture but it goes a long way. Check them out id you're looking for a "lightl" to eat!!

I don't like writing a less than positive review but I have to call it like I see it. In general this place is fantastic however they need up their standards of what is acceptable to serve. My filled croissant was burnt and for someplace that I assumed had high standards, I don't think they should've served it. Had I been eating in the restaurant I would have taken it back. Disappointed in low standards. In addition they don't even have a bread slicer!

Such a welcomed addition to Main Street in Flemington! We already have fantastic antique shops, restaurants, boutiques, and florists. And yes, I know we have great coffee shops too, but you really can't have too many. With a beautiful, spacious and cozy front porch, this is ideal for warm weather days. They also have lots and lots of seating inside. However, no wifi password so while this is a great place to relax or meet for coffee with friends, skip the laptop work. I've heard that on weekends, the line wraps around the sidewalk, but on the friday morning that I stopped in, it was quick and fast. The baristas were super friendly and made suggestions on the manyyyy pastries. Okay, on to the order! I got my usual oat milk latte (iced because it was GORGEOUS out), a carrot coffee cake muffin and a loaf of the focaccia bread. All was delicious. The bread was so tasty and the muffin was moist and not too sweet. So, kind of perfect for a mid morning snack. I can't wait to stop back in, welcome to Flemington!

Gorgeous interior. The bakery is nestled in an absolutely adorable town that brought me back a century. I was really excited to give this place a try. I saw them on Instagram. Everything in the pastry case looked phenomenal. The stand out was the rose pistachio loaf. I think the flour used was semolina or perhaps Cornmeal. It was dense, grainy, delicious. I wasn't a fan of the morning glory muffin, which is a croissant twisted into a muffin shape. It seemed over baked and dry. I think if it was smaller, it could've been baked for less time, and it would've retained that buttery flavor that I feel is essential in puff pastry. The focaccia was lacking in the essential olive oil flavor and very dry. The hibiscus tea was good. The service was efficient. I felt very comfortable lingering inside. I just wish the baked goods were a bit more impressive.

Been seeing the mouth watering vids and pics on socials about Bread & Culture and needed to try them out myself. My husband and I went one Saturday morning for a breakfast date and ventured around Flemington afterwards. It was about an hour away but it was a decent colorful ride (it was during the leaves changing.) We knew to get there pretty early as the lines tend to wrap around or products tend to sell out. We got there and, as expected, we were in line. The place was very nice, modern, and cozy vibes as you walk in. There are tables and chairs you can sit in if you want to enjoy your food, however, when there is a line expect the people to hover over your area. The display case and the smell of all the baked bread and pastries is just inviting that you'd definitely want to stay. We ordered a few things to eat and take home. 2 sandwiches, 2 croissants, sourdough bread, and a Valrhona coffee. When you see Valrhona chocolate being used you can definitely expect a rich chocolate decadent treat. The sizes of everything were huge, definitely shareable. Delicious and definitely a treat to have. If you're local to the bakery, you have a gem over there! If you're a bit of a drive out - I suggest do check it out and support the business as not many places produce delicious products as they do!

We came to this lovely establishment by accident because we were in the middle of our travels coming home from Pennsylvania. We found that their coffee is absolutely delicious and their food is to die for my husband had the Jammon Burre sandwich, and I had the ricotta and blueberry toast and both of these things were executed beautifully and were made with delicious bread. We were here around when they were closing up shop and the lovely guy gave us a free loaf of jalapeño cheddar bread, which looks amazing which we will try later. We highly recommend coming here if you're in the area.

We haven't been here in a while but we were in the area and stopped in for some breakfast. Busy place the line was out the door. The service is friendly and they move the line fast. Inside the place is roomy and cozy. All the baked goods are amazing and there are many choices to choose from. We had the almond croissant. Delicious! Worth the wait!

Very good food and coffee. Huge portions, the egg sandwich easily feeds two people who aren't light eaters.

The service was great. We got seated right away and had no wait. I would recommend this place for a nice, healthy lunch. The price was reasonable as well. I would return if I were in the area again for a meal. They have many danishes to buy by the register, definitely worth checking out.

Sadly, a poor experience and we are thoroughly disappointed. We were seated promptly, and had our lunch orders taken promptly which was great. Unfortunately those were the positives. The wait for our food was extensive - I was checking my watch to avoid being overly impatient as it dragged on especially because I always tell my kids not to complain and to be patient. Adult starter salads came out within 20 minutes, but nothing else came again until 55 minutes after ordering. The kids' starter fruit cups never came until I asked for them after their 'main' courses had come. Two of my girls ordered the kids' scrambled eggs which was a plate of scrambled eggs with a single piece of toast. My third ordered the kid's french toast which arrived as a small, single piece of french toast, with no fruit/compote, etc on top as was supposed to. It was an incredibly small portion, especially for a hungry 9 year old after waiting for 55 minutes, such that I actually asked the waiter for another piece for her. When this arrived, it did have fruit/compote on top (inconsistency?). My wife ordered the eggs Benedict, which is her favorite, and it was fine but the eggs were overpoached for what it's worth. I had the Healthy Meal - it was fine but nothing amazing. For the majority of the 55 minute gap between the placement of the order and arrival of the food (minus two salads) our server almost never came by to check on us or assure us of timing, and he never refilled waters or asked about drink refills for the kids. We all ordered egg-based meals, and the table had no pepper or ketchup on it or brought out with the food, nor butter for toast. Yes, we could have asked for it, and we would have if the food had come sooner, but after the long wait we just wanted to expedite, eat, and go. The manager did check with us one time before food arrival at which point I mentioned the kids still did not have their starter fruit cups, and she advised our food was coming out soon. Main courses require cooking, but a fruit cup takes about 30 seconds to put together, and the children at the table next to us received and ate fruit cup starters long before their mains arrived - again, no consistency. Things happen, cafes and restaurants encounter challenges, and we are pretty understanding of that so would not have likely bothered to submit a review for one bad experience were it not for what was said in front of us before we left. Another family of four (two young ones) next to us had clearly been having a similar experience to us and did not kick up an overt fuss, but must have submitted a complaint at some point before leaving. After they left, we were the only people in the front room for a few moments while the manager and owner were nearby chatting and clearing the other table. The manager told the owner of the other family's complaint that they had waited "an hour and twenty minutes" for their meals, at which point the owner inquired from her if they had really waited that long, and she said "no it was only 45." The owner then proceeded to dismiss the complaint and stated "isn't that what Mother's Day is all about?" or something to that effect, I assume suggesting that on Mother's Day we should all be happy and/or expecting a long, leisurely meal. I have no idea if their wait was 80 mins but if it was like ours it was probably more than 45 - like I said, I was actually counting. Secondly, having that conversation out in the open in front of other patrons is highly unprofessional, especially if you are going to be so dismissive. It is also tone-deaf to the fact that perhaps the patrons you are having the discussion in front of might also have had a similar experience and actually feel almost exactly the same way the first family did - in which case it is a legitimate shortcoming of the meal process that day, not an easily dismissed one-off complaint by a disgruntled patron. Finally, in no way should an eatery's owner use the premise of what Mother's Day is "about" in his mind as a weak justification for poor/slow service. I love a leisurely meal, if I am enjoying the food and taking my time, not spending the bulk of the time waiting for it. If the kitchen is slow for other reasons, so be it, just apologize and do something nice for that family that lodged a valid complaint. I was actually prepared to also speak to the owner about our experience, but after hearing his back-and-forth with the manager, it seemed pointless to do so privately as it would have been readily dismissed as well, I suspect. Hence an online review - which I have not done in years. Fair is fair, their takeout coffees and pastries are tremendous, and the barista staff has always been pleasant to me. But that is clearly their strength. We would not come here for a meal again.
