The best waffles in town !!
    Jason M.

This is easily one of the last great classic diners around no question. Their breakfast is consistently excellent, and the atmosphere hits that perfect balance, set right on a farm just off Route 22 East. It's a must-try. Beyond breakfast, they also do a fantastic patty melt, French dip, and tuna sandwich everything I've had here has been on point.

Came here for a quick breakfast... Food was mediocre. Service was okay. Its like a little mom and pop shop diner, nothing special about it.

This was a great Father's Day brunch with the family! I got steak and eggs, kids got the kids meal, and my wife got some salmon. Service was good, the food took a while so I knew they were making the meal, and not microwaving it. Classic diner feel with locals coming on the regular! I was excited for the hardy meals that we got!

Dunno why the low reviews. My FIL got a burger. He said it was perfect medium. I got a club with bacon. Sourdough was toasted and fresh veggies. The beef barley soups was good flavor but lacked beef. We got chicken tenders and cream of Turkey soup to take home. I'm a fan.

    Cute spot!

This was a perfect diner for Father's Day! I got steak and eggs. my wife got some vegetables stuff ( I don't know) . Kids got stuff from kids menu! Excellent service and the beautiful inside that felt like a blast from the past!! Food was delicious and the menu was an encyclopedia! I like the local vibe and friendly atmosphere.

Unfortunately, I can't consciously recommend this diner due to my personal experience. I'll start with the good, the location is spacious with ample parking and service is friendly. However, it's a little slow and whilst on a highway not necessarily convenient. In addition, it's looks old and pretty unkept. As for the food, it seems like a hit or miss. My friend ordered a ham and egg cheese sandwich which he claimed was tasty, i however order a plain stack of pancakes and a side of crispy bacon, while the bacon was great, the pancakes tasted like sand. They were pretty inedible, and for a diner this is kind of their staple so I was pretty disappointed. Overall, I won't return or say I can recommend unfortunately.

Ready to go back in time to the 60s? We can't transport you back in time. But the feel and look of the Spinning Wheel will give you a glimpse...without actually thinking that the place was built in the '60s (it is clean and fresh) Food: great diner food! The menu is only 3 pages! It may sound like a lot if you are not familiar with the NJ diner scene or it may sound like a paired-down menu! Service: attentive and quick, I never had to ask for a refill for my coffee Parking: it is on the side of rt 22 in Whitehouse Station, NJ! It has ample parking Value: it is good value for the quality of the food. I like this place and it was great to return to it after many years! You find a lot of locals, especially seniors:) here. It has to be a testimony to their quality. If you are in the neighborhood I would give it a try.

    French onion soup

Wow, did we get served a lot of food! And it was better than average diner food. My husband and I each ordered salads, which came with the soup of the day. I went with tomato, and he ordered French onion for a slight up charge. His salad was the grilled Cajun chicken salad. He really liked the flavoring and the moistness of the chicken. I ordered the tuna salad platter. It came with a healthy scoop of tuna salad, potato salad, and coleslaw with vegetables around the sides and underneath. The tuna was delicious. The coleslaw was creamy and yummy. The potato salad was not what I was used to (no mayonnaise, not German), but I still liked its sweet flavor. Service was super fast. The inside is clean. The bathrooms are tiny!

    Matzo Ball Soup

This diner is a great option for the area. The interior is very retro, which usually means gross and sticky to me, but not for this place. Everything was very clean and bright. There was a mix of travelers and senior locals at the time we visited. Our waitress was very competent and friendly. I had a BLT with a substitution of curly fries. Both were delicious. Surprisingly, my order came with a side of soup! The matzo ball soup was hot and tasty. The only downside to my experience was the banana pancake. It was flavorless and mushy. Not pictured is my husbands corned beef hash and eggs. He always asks for the corned beef hash to be very well done/crispy and it almost never comes out that way. This time, however, Spinning Wheel delivered. We'll remember that next time we're thinking of a place for breakfast.

Mountainhome Diner has been around for years and is your typical diner with all-day breakfast available. It's clean and the staff were exactly what you want in a diner with friendliness and hospitality. I went with a breakfast sandwich with bacon, egg, and cheese on a croissant with some well done potatoes. My friend had the scrapple with some scrambled eggs. I also had an orange juice. The orange juice I did not care for. Definitely not fresh squeezed. But the sandwich was excellent along with the potatoes. My friend also loved his coffee and scrapple with egg. My meal came to $11 not including tip. We'd come back!

My family and I visited Mountainhome Diner for lunch on a recent trip to the Poconos. It was actually are last morning on our trip and we were looking for a place to grab lunch before making the drive back to Connecticut. We had driven past the diner several times on previous visits to the area, but had never visited before. We decided to give them a try. It seemed like a classic American diner that you could find just about anywhere. There's no website, no social media accounts, just good old-fashioned diner staples. The staff were friendly and accommodating and they seated us at a booth. A go-to dish that my wife and I both like to get at classic diners is a Greek salad, and Mountainhome Diner's "Big Fat Greek Salad" (chopped iceberg lettuce, crumbled feta, olives, tomato, onions, peppers, grape leaves, house Greek vinegar) sounded like it was just what we were looking for. I ordered mine with gyro while my wife ordered hers with chicken. Those salads really hit the spot! For our sons, we looked to the Kids Menu. Our older son had the "Hot Dog with French fries" while our younger son had the "Chicken Fingers with French fries". They were both very happy with their dishes. We had a nice time at Mountainhome Diner and we're happy that we finally stopped in. We recommend them to anyone visiting the area!

The past few times we came over the past few years it seemed "off", but this time...I'm just sad. But before I get into the food thing, I want to address the service. We had to wait a few minutes for someone to wait on us at the bar since no one was attending it, but once they knew we were there, they checked on us, and it was good. So please don't get upset, it just may take someone a minute to see you there. The table service was impeccable, seriously wonderful table service...he didn't miss a beat. Now for the food: I suppose it depends on what you order, or maybe it's hit or miss these days? My Pastrami Reuben had super thick slices that were tough, making it hard to chew, and had no flavor. Members of my party had a chicken BLT and a burger, and both were ok flavor-wise, but very dry, making them hard to get through. Just taking a little bite of their sandwiches was enough for me. However, another member had flatbread, and it was fine. Fries were served cold and had zero flavor. We've had the same flavorless and tough food experiences the past few times we have eaten here over the past few years. The presentation is good, but once it hits the lips, mouth, and teeth, you get the real story. The beer is always cold though! The prices are fair, and the atmosphere is unique, although the toy train near the ceiling doesn't seem to be working anymore. Although I didn't get dessert this time, the desserts are normally good. There is more than ample parking, and depending on how you drive here, it can be a little tricky getting to. Follow the GPS if you aren't from around here. This diner is supposed to be the best 24-hour diner, and I'm not sure why. Again, service was wonderful, but if the food isn't always good or flavorful, then why? And for me as a customer, presentation is nice, but I care about the flavor and texture, otherwise...why bother?

It was very salty, no beans, no tomatoes. My Party Melt, always a hit, was cooked to perfection alongside the fresh-cut, homemade fries. For food, we started off with the margherita pizza to share. Then, I opted for the crispy, buttermilk chicken sandwich with malt vinegar, potato wedges/fries. It was very delicious. The sandwich was crispy and fresh and the bun looked like it was handcrafted. The malt fries were unique because they had a vinegar powder on them. I've never tasted malt vinegar before, and it was a unique texture. Our waitress was very friendly, but I wish she had been a bit more attentive. She only stopped by to ask us for our drink order, our food order, and to give the check. My friends wanted to order more drinks, but because she did not come around as frequently as we would have liked, they were unable to place another order. I will give her the benefit of the doubt, however, because the restaurant was bustling from start to finish. Overall, very nice setting and meal.
