Cup of Chicken Noodle Soup
Dan M.

I returned here for yet another meal and I once again went with a salad. The salad I chose this time around was the chopped cobb. I also had another chicken noodle soup, which was very good like my previous review. The cobb salad had romaine, bacon, avocado, hardboiled egg, tomato, red onion, grilled chicken, and bleu cheese dressing. This was a traditional cobb salad done right. The bleu cheese dressing looked a little odd but tasted okay so not a concern like I thought initially possibly. The salad as a whole appeared fresh and there was plenty of all the ingredients which I always find to be key. It was also a decent size portion like my previous ones ordered.

Stopped by for a bite to eat on our way to a concert in Philadelphia. The place was immaculate, friendly, with the fresh smell of freshly ground coffee beans in the air. We were quickly seated by the owner (I think), and the waiter was quick and attentive. The temperature was perfect, especially considering the horribly hot Northeast summer of 2025. As for the food, first I have to say that the prices were absolutely fantastic for the quality and taste we experienced. Especially considering the current economy and constant price hikes of 2024-25. So I ordered the Greek Salad Wrap and my partner got the Time to Eat Special with a Greek Salad and Fries. Everything was delicious! Fries - perfectly cooked diner fries with a side of home made honey mustard - fantastic! Greek Chicken Wrap - beautifully marinated with really good tzatziki. I actually got 2 extra cups of it to dip my wrap in. In short, we would both come back again when in the area. And the total was about $45 after tax and tip! Unreal in all the best ways!

Lamb Burger Deluxe with my fries on the side

We had a good meal at Time to Eat Diner the other night. It has been awhile since I had been there. My sister was flying back to NC and we needed a quick bite to eat before we dropped her off at the airport. First we were sat in the dining room by a very noisy group of kids and their parents and probably grandparents. My adult nephew who was with us can't stand noise and often times wears ear plugs when he is out and I knew the is table was not going to work. We asked to move to another tank and we were sat on the completely other side of the room. I kind of felt bad because our original server wasn't the one that was going to serve us now. Our new server came to us quickly and took our orders. I ordered the Lam burger deluxe, and since I did not want my fries, I gave them to my nephew who ordered a burger of his own. My sister ordered the buffalo chicken salad, my boyfriend ordered the Chef's salad, and my dad had the apple pancakes. We all enjoyed our meals and everything was served in a timely manner. They don't have many places like a Jersey diner in North Carolina, so my nephew was completely mesmerized by the menu. When they come back in town again, he definitely wants to come back.

Turkey Club and Cheeseburger

Just dined here a few days ago- our food was delicious. The turkey club was packed with homemade turkey , and had fresh tomatoes, bacon and dark green lettuce on fresh rye toast. The cheeseburger was cooked to perfection- well done but juicy- excellent quality meat with a great char broiled flavor. Even the roll was wonderful- fresh and soft. Enjoyed my diet pepsi also. The only item I didnt care for was the fries- kinda plain tasting. Service was attentive and food came promptly, despite the restaurant being filled. Definitely a repeater for me.

I liked the grits.

I was staying at a hotel, and saw this place on DoorDash. Perusing the menu, I saw something interesting. A mashed potato omelette. Hey, New Jersey diners sometimes have interesting items on their menu, so why not? The omelette came with cheese and bacon, and I paid extra for onions. I also had grits and toast on the side. The food came, and it was barely warm. Fortunately, my hotel room had a microwave. The omelette itself was good. There was a good amount of cheese and bacon, and the mashed potatoes actually played very well with the omelette. Everything together made for a very good omelette. If there were onions in there, however, I couldn't taste them. A shame, because again, I did pay extra for them. The grits were also good. The 2 big problems I had, was first of all, nothing extra came with the food. No napkins, silverware, no salt or pepper, no butter for the grits, no jelly for the toast, nothing. I had to get all of that from my hotel. The other problem I had, was that the toast was overdone, to the point of almost being burnt . I couldn't eat more than a couple of bites. If I were at the restaurant, I would've sent it back. Ordering delivery, that was not an option. Again, the omelette was very successful. I would gladly order from this place again in person, but I would stay away from delivery. Thank you anyway.

Everything Sampler

I had no idea New Jersey was called the Diner Capital of the World! So, when I was visiting for a college football game and our friends kept suggesting we eat at a diner, I was like seriosuly? But now I know why. But now I get it - it's what the locals do! I was surprised by how much food you get. I ordered the breakfast sampler and got bacon, sausage, eggs, toast and pancakes. One thing that caught me off guard was that switching to pumpkin pancakes cost extra, which the waiter didn't mention. Still, I enjoyed the meal - it was a solid, classic breakfast, and the diner vibe was just what I expected!

Food is fair tasting for a diner. Service is good. Place is clean and as well as the condiments and the seatings. Ample spacing between tables. Accepts credit/debit cards. Tip could be through card. High chair seen. Ample parking. See images for further reference.

First time trying this diner despite driving by it for over a decade and I regret not stopping in earlier. This is as "classic diner" as it gets. The menu provides much variety at affordable prices and the portions are huge! I will definitely be returning!

Time to Eat is a classic family style diner with a great menu, fast and friendly service, and tasty food!! We come here almost weekly for Sunday brunch and will continue to do so!!

Hungarian beef goulash over noodles was delicious
Harvey H.

I was visiting some friends and they took me to the Time to Eat diner. First off, the variety of offerings was huge. I saw the Hungarian Goulash and went for it with a bowl of Matzoh ball soup. Both were delish. Our waiter was friendly and knowledgeable and the food was prepared perfectly. Everybody was happy. The portions were large and the dessert was a hot brownie with Ice cream. Yum. When you go, plenty of on-site parking. Just bring your appetite.

Breakfast is definitely where they stand out. The freshly squeezed orange juice is to die for and always a highlight, 10/10. I've tried lunch a few times and it's just okay. The turkey BLT and regular turkey sandwich were a little dry, mostly the turkey itself. Nothing terrible, just not something I'd go out of my way for again. The chicken soup was really good though and I would order that again. Overall I'd still recommend it, especially for breakfast.

I got a Chicharrones Desayuno, chocolate chip pancakes, a French dip, and several speciality coffees (different visits, I swear!). Each and every one has impressed me - the breakfast chicharrones especially! I'd post pictures but I didn't remember before eating to take any! Service is fantastic as well. The servers are attentive, even with how busy it always is, and sweeter than the powdered sugar on my pancakes. Really set a great atmosphere and experience! Additionally, they know how to make coffee GOOD. So if you are a coffee snob, they know how to pull a shot and keep it fresh. Honestly, this place is a 5/5 on all fronts for me. Great service, fantastic food, and good atmosphere make this a diner that's a cut above. Hopefully I'll remember to check-in when I'm here, since I think that's going to be often!

Tops is the tops of all NJ diners. We had a special event…read morenear by, needed a good place to celebrate and eat well. Based on prior experiences, we made a reservation which saved us. Place gets packed despite the many tables. Service was amazing, food was great (slightly higher prices than others, but the quality execution and quantity balanced it out). We had cornbread (very good), fries (was fine), chicken parm with pasta (we asked for vodka sauce which they accommodated for small charge), fried chicken (must have), churrasco steak breakfast and turkey club. No false notes that we could tell. Some standouts were mashed potatoes (really good), cornbread (toasted and slight sweet, with strawberry butter which was wild), whole wheat bread toasted (it was good I tell you) and fried chicken (it will haunt me in my hungry moments). Didn't think a diner would impact me as much, but they over delivered. Go, but make a reservation unless you want to wait.

READ FULL REVIEW!!!…read more March 2026: First time at this establishment was just ok. Hosted a very small get-together here (5 guest). Atmosphere was nice. Music was wayy too loud to hear the person you're sitting next to. Food was tasty and fresh. Coffee was good with great creamer selection (at the time). Our server was my least favorite part of this experience. He was over the top with his energy and upscale tactics (pushy with getting us to order extra drinks and appetizers despite declining). I was hosting this event and did not need him selling us after already being told "no, thank you" twice. It was awkward and ultimately changed the vibe. He hardly checked on us after that encounter and we constantly had to remind them about request that were never brought out to the table. Staff needs to be trained better. This was just an ok experience. April 2026 : What ultimately lead me to write this review was my 2nd experience at this diner. The server was a lot better than our first experience, but we did run into a few too many problems. First, we ordered coffee and are informed that per managements request, we can only have half-half or cream with our coffee. Previously they had French vanilla creamers and other flavored creamers but I guess management decided to save on the additional cost. This was a bummer especially realizing that they could easily afford creamers. This restaurant easily pulls at least $150,000 per week in revenue, so I didn't understand cheapening out like that. I still ordered the coffee. When it came to the table I added the cream into the cup only to find something floating in the coffee. I send it back and ask for a new cup, which the server politely provided. We order our meals and all goes well. Eventually two of the three meals come out and we wait for the final plate to come out. It's common courtesy to wait for everyone to have their meal before eating, so we wait. We wait about 6-7 minutes and the final plate comes out only for it to be cold. All of us ordered breakfast, so you can imagine trying to eat cold egg, potato, and sausage. We ask for the waiter, but before he could get to us the manager passes by and we let him know the issue. He takes the plate to the back and about two minutes later he comes back with the same exact plate. Before the manager arrived to take the plate away, I saw the guest split the egg half and add black pepper on everything so we knew it was the same plate and food she started eating off of that was reheated onto the kitchen grill where other food is being prepared for guest. The manager informs us that he had the chef heat the food up on the griddle and that it should be a perfect temperature. We refuse to accept the plate because it was reheated and not remade entirely. We were shocked that this was the solution even being offered. Reheating food on the griddle seemed unsafe (contamination risk, diseases, illness, etc) and offensive. No one pays these prices to have reheated breakfast served to them. I could've just made that at home for a fraction of the price. We politely refuse the reheated plate and he apologized and took the plate to the back. The server comes over to see what the issue is and we explain everything. He says that he will look into it and take that meal off the bill. Now I'm frustrated because one out of the three of us aren't eating anything and the experience was off. At this point, I'm not eating my meal but the 3rd guest is eating. So the guest who sent their plate back and myself are waiting for the 3rd guest to finish their pancakes. He ordered a stack of 4-5 chocolate chip pancakes and was happily eating away at layer by layer. Eventually he gets to the last 2 pancakes and before he adds syrup he notices what appeared to be an eyelash or short piece of hair imbedded in the pancake. Picture of the clearly imbedded hair included with this review. He immediately stopped eating and looks sick. He had already eaten 3-4 pancakes by then and the idea that he ate more of whatever that was felt unnerving, to say the least. We both start looking to see what he's looking at and long behold the hair was there. At this point we are extremely frustrated and completely over this experience. Management did not make this experience right even after addressing all of these issues both separately and together. I felt like my money was not valued and my business certainly wasn't. They did nothing to remedy these issues and I will NOT be going back to this establishment. This restaurant may look visually beautiful but the service is not. Staff needs more training, music needs to be turned down, chefs need to wear hairnets and everyone needs to follow safe food handling skills. You're putting your guest and your business at risk ignoring these issues. I really really wish I had a better experience.
