I simply love coming to this place, almost everything is great. Service is 100% the best. However I have to ask the owner to help his chef by buying a better meat cut!! Three Pupusas were more than enough to eat for lunch. They offer 7 different savory fillings. The cabbage slaw and mild hot sauce that came on the side were tasty too. This restaurant has free private parking accommodating about 30 cars. The lot is often full so you might have to park in a metered space on the street. The Diner is sunny, cheerful, and clean, with lots of windows and mirrors. Customers can sit at booths, tables, or at the counter. For weekday lunch all seating is in the main area, but on weekends a second adjoining dining room is opened up. They serve classic American diner fare like omelettes, Belgian waffles, and club sandwiches, as well as "Spanish Breakfast" as it is called on the menu. Other offerings include Pupusas, Flautas, and Tostadas. The fresh brewed coffee is very good here too. I highly recommend Douglas Diner! read more

I've been here a couple times for breakfast on a Sunday. Have never had to wait for a table although the restaurant does get very busy. Parking is available but if the restaurant is full you may have to use street parking which is a little difficult to find as this is on a Main Street. My go to is the típico breakfast and a pupusa with chicharron, queso y frijol. They are THE BEST. Perfectly filled and seasoned. The cole slaw and the tomato sauce that comes with this pairs sooo well. read more

After 10+years of being a regular at Douglas dinner today my rating went from a 5 to a 3. I loved the fresh orange juice here, I noticed the last couple of times I have visited that its becoming watered down. Today I ordered an orange juice and asked the server if it is pure orange juice or if they add water to it she assured me its 100% juice. several minutes later I told her it tastes like water and that I did not like it, she told me that I was wrong and no water was added to it. Never offered to take it away and refused to take it off my bill. I didn't want to argue for a couple of bucks but I would like management to know that for something so simple not corrected on site they lost a loyal customer. Food has always been great here and never had an issue before, however I think management needs to step it up and do better. Im posting a picture of the juice, half water half pulp. It taste like water with a hint of orange juice. why not charge more and keep good quality? Highly disappointed, if this was an issue with a Drink....Cant imagine having an issue with an Entree. I was feeling under the weather in need of homemade soup. Drive to the closest town and found the spot looked up review and parked. Walked to the counter by the way place is clean. Plenty of tables and well lit. Not a hole in the wall kind of place. Diner feel inside loved it, very welcoming not intimidating. I reviewed the menu saw lots of possibilities but focused on my needs. Kept saying in my head next time I'll get this and this. I ordered soup and 2 tamales of chicken seriously I couldn't resist. Took it home and the chicken soup was perfect it even had a nice lemon flavor for my soar throats how they know with a side of white rice. Delicious, I have my go to place for soup .. check. Tamales were so fresh the chicken still had bones yum. I would have liked some sauce on the side but I would recommend both whenever your in the area. Can't wait for my next visit!! Most horrible Diner experience in all of NJ. Place was ok , little congested for current covid social distance separation. Food tasted fine, but portion were less for the American food size. Any/all sides were $5 flat. Noticed hair in the omelette and informed the waiter. Waitress took the hair and went into the kitchen. Another waiter approached and informed the kitchen ppl did not have such thin hair. We were not expecting food replacement nor discounts but the waiter appeared to inform it's our hair rolled inside the omelette. Never stepping foot in this diner again. read more

I placed and received my order via DoorDash. With the exception of the side of bacon, everything else was terrible. The milkshake (banana) had no taste and had bits of ice in it plus there was no straw. The waffle was cold and soggy. The BLT toast was not toasted, had tomato on it that was uncored and slimy, brown lettuce and almost no bacon. Luckily I had ordered a side of bacon that I mostly used to make this a substantial sandwich since there was almost no bacon on it to start with. When I called the diner the night of the order no manager was apparently there to speak with and the person on the phone only spoke broken English. Perhaps this was an off night and maybe these issues wouldn't have occurred in person or at least could have been rectified. Wound up here after our first plan fell through and we are very glad we did. We had been here for lunch a couple of years ago but now has the whole family with us. We liked the option for regular dinner food and Latin dishes. 4 of the 5 of us went for Latin dishes while the youngest had a hot dog platter. The food was great. Among us we had the sopa with beef, lomo saltado, shrimp and beef ribs - plus we shared pupusas. Portions were large, quality was good and prices were very reasonable for what you get. The waitress primarily spoke Spanish, was very friendly and we had no problems communicating our order. Will definitely add this restaurant to our list of favorite places. read more

If you like papusas this place has them, and they are delicious. The food took a little too long to come out, but it was mainly because everyone wanted papusas, and who could blame them? That said, the menu is really varied, and has pictures of everything, so language should not be a barrier when ordering. This is one of those places where I recommend trying out the papusas, but also something random from the menu, because I managed to steal food from my party, and it was worth it. This is my second favorite breakfast place on the planet. Just go ahead and try the Salvadoreno Breakfast, along with a large fresh-squeezed orange juice and a coffee. Unlike many juice squeezing presses, the one they use crushes the fruit without extracting the bitter parts of the peel. So the orange juice is always sweet and delicious. And they do not serve it at an ice cold temperature but instead cool to slightly cold, perfect for actually tasting the oranges! The beans and thick tortillas that come with the breakfast are absolutely delicious. On any given day I would be happy to have them alone as a breakfast. The eggs, scrambled with a variety of cooked vegetables are delicious and healthy. And it comes with a generous half avocado, always ripe and a chunk of dense white, sharp cheese. The place is usually busy and we always find the waitresses to be cheerful and helpful in making sure that we get just what we want. If you speak a little Spanish that is nice but they will certainly work along with you. A genuine treasure of a place. I am very glad they exist and always make a point of stopping here whenever I am anywhere nearby. And they have a really fantastic outdoor setup to allow dining through Covid. Very strong tent over a large area and impeccably diligent with cleaning after each party dines. My mother, who doesn't eat spanish food, really loves this place. Their food is very authentic and soooo yummy, wait i forgot to mention AFFORDABLE too. It is causal and they serve breakfast lunch and dinner. We basically ordered everything. We got the guacamole with chips and the chips were the flour tortillas fried right there on the spot, so good. The only thing that didn't add up was the gigantic bowl of guac next to the 10 chips they serve with it. I wanted to ask for more chips but i held off. We ordered a side of fried yuca along with our meals which each came with rice, beans, salad, etc. They give you so much food that you could take half home and fill your belly again. My only complaint is that the staff speak little english, so despite fluency in spanglish i had difficulty finding out what cut of beef i was ordering. However this lets you know just how authentic the joint is. i wasn't pleased with my meat, as it was very fatty. I am a really picky eater when it comes to my meat. Everything else was delicious however...and i really enjoyed it heated up the next day. Wish we had known about the place earlier, as i'm sure we would visit it often. read more

So overall the food is pretty decent and the waitresses are very polite but today I decided to explore the menu and try something new. I regret ever thinking that. I ordered the Chicken Parmigiana Sandwich because I've ordered it from other diners and it tastes pretty amazing but the taste and the odor of this one was horrendous. Very tasty pupusas, chicken and beef fajitas, and Latin side dishes! My daughter has traveled to central America and was able to ask questions and order in Spanish- she was very happy about the food. Big portions, clean and affordably priced. The waitresses are very friendly, but it would have been challenging to get info about the menu unless one spoke some Spanish. We definitely had leftovers, which I didn't mind scooping into the containers provided by the waitress. I have had bad service there, they don't seem to like "yankee" business, it is very close but I wont use them any more, they just charged me $ 8.25 for 3 eggs and 2 pieces of sausage, no potatoes, they just don't want my business and will price me right out of there.
