Don't let the menu fool you, there is plenty to choose from and each caffeinated beverage is prepared with the utmost care and attention. Through the Yelp Elite "For Latte Lovers @ it's a hidden cafe" event, we got to enjoy a complimentary latte and I was so excited to see peanut butter as an option for flavor, which is one of 10 flavor offerings. Coffee, espresso, tea, hot chocolate, and more plus dairy free milk options are available. There is quite a robust instant ramen selection available to pair with your beverage. There is also colorful artwork, an old-school Nintendo system & box TV for some retro nostalgia, and an art station make it a perfect way to escape and relax. The food & stale flavors is the main reason I have to give this cafe a 3. The pastries are NOT fresh/baked in house, the apple turnovers are the same as Shoprite's but were unfortunately much staler than the ones in store and its texture and taste seemed like it were from the day prior. It's completely okay for the pastries being outsourced but at the end of the day, it either tastes good or doesn't and unfortunately, for its a hidden cafe it was one disappointment after the next when it came to the food. Also, the cost of one shoprite apple turnovers from the cafe buys you the whole case at shoprite which is *actually* the same exact food. The breakfast sandwich was the most unflavorful and bland breakfast sandwich I've ever had, counting both outside and even at home. It was difficult to take a third or fourth bite of any of the food. The coffee also did not stand out to me in any way. Coming in very hungry, I was excited and while food typically tastes better when hungry, I just couldn't enjoy it. with this experience, I have to give the food a 2/5 If you're looking for a spot to hangout or get some work in, I'd say it's worth visiting. It is decorated nicely and has board games and a decent amount of seating and some mini tables. It looks like a feel good place people can stop by to sit and relax for a little bit. They have plenty of tables, big cozy couches, nooks to read to chill or work, etc. they have strong wifi and outlets, making it a remote workers dream. True to its name, It's a Hidden Cafe is tucked away in its own little nook by a Dominos Pizza right off of Route 206 in Hillsborough. Be sure to park in the back, since as a first time visitor, I made the mistake of parking out front and having to walk around to the main entrance in the back. There wasn't too much of a pastry selection on a Saturday afternoon, so we wound up each getting a latte and a frosted donut to share. While I wouldn't consider either of them exceptional, both the latte and donut (4/5) were decent and hit the spot. The service (5/5) is what sets this coffee spot apart, as the owner is very friendly and engaging, serving up drinks in actual mugs and delivering ordered items to tables, whereas most places make you hover and take away your drink after it's prepared. There's plenty of spaces to relax inside, as many locals and students were doing when I stopped by. Overall, I'd rate It's a Hidden Cafe a 4.5/5, but happy to round up since the owner is super friendly and sets the bar a little higher for coffee shops by going the extra mile in serving drinks in mugs and delivering them to tables with a friendly smile. Drinks prices are reasonable as well since I know of several other places not too far away that charge anywhere from $1-3 more per drink. read more

Sort of like a bar tab but they don't take your card info. I almost left without paying and it seems like this happens often here? I'm still here and I couldn't wait to write a review. The place is so unexpected. They have their front entrance, and another one in the back, with extra parking space. Everyone is greeted with a hearty hello, and the owner seems like a genuinely friendly guy. The space is wonderful, it's a mix of your grandmother's house and a clean Japanese-esque aesthetic. They even have a retro mini Nintendo with a tube tv to play games on! We ordered a bread basket, a latte and a matcha latte. We were given a variety of spreads for the lightly toasted and warm bread, and the owner even brought us a couple of more pieces as he saw the two of us were sharing. The lighting is perfect, not too harsh and has a super cozy feel. And I love how clean everything is. We drank our drinks and ate our bread, all awhile playing chess. There are a few games scattered around, which allows you to stay awhile. My only negatives, are that we used plastic knives, which can be difficult to use with the butter, which was still a tad bit hard from refrigeration. And I'm not huge on single use plastics when I can avoid them. I also do wish that the lattes were less foamy, they were more on the cappuccino side, but were delicious, nevertheless. Get: A pot of loose leaf tea (I recommend the hojicha) and have a wonderful conversation with the owner My sister and I came here to check out this new cafe I saw on instagram. It has only been opened for a week! First, I love the name! It evokes speakeasy vibes. Also, love that this cafe is brand new! No crowds here yet so we had the place to ourselves. The service is top notch! The owner is so kind and attentive. We didn't have to get up to get our drinks, he brought everything to us. The tea was also excellent. I got a teapot of hojicha and it was delicious. It also gave 3 cups of tea so I was happy with the yield. There aren't a lot of food options here yet and the cafe could use more tables when this place gets more popular. I'll definitely be back to see how this cafe develops in the coming weeks and months. You got chess, checkers, a Nintendo, some chill house music, this long table where 8 people could sit and chat. I wanted to stay longer but I had already drank my latte and ate the bread. Started to feel awkward just occupying space reading my book. The owner is extremely friendly. He got the enthusiasm for small talk and it's a one man show! If this was closer to home I'd live here not going to lie. The cutest cafe I've been to in so long!! The staff is so nice and sweet and they have tables to do work and couches and chairs to sit and chat. Me and my friends did some school work there for hours and it was such good vibes. Everything was very chill and they had some candles burning, chill music playing and even the other customers were very respectful of everyone around them. Sorry to leave a one star, but the latte and cortado were mediocre, and the lively youthful vibe and cheery service weren't enough to make up for it. The cortado had great crema on top but lacked any of the silky creamy texture that is the essence of a good cortado. I've had cortados from dozens of cafes and this one comes in last place, by far. The latte tasted like milky coffee, and slightly bitter (no latte art, which would have required some actual steamed foamed milk). Both drinks tasted like the barista just poured hot milk into espresso shots, with no effort to properly steam and foam the milk. My wife said she gets better coffee out of the Nespresso pods at home. read more
