This place really needs to be called "Buy the indifference" or "Buy the owners piss poor attitude". I've given it a couple of chances, and each time I leave wondering if perhaps large chains should have deserved my business. I try to support locally owned places as much as possible, however the lack of any ambiance or pleasantries here is quite appalling. Good on you for having coffee in the morning, you're no different than McDonalds, however unlike a McDonalds do not expect nor will you receive a "Good Morning" or any other courteous pleasantries customers have come to expect. In short the breakfast egg on a bagel is mediocre, the coffee is on par with Wawa, and the owners attitude is equivalent to a "piss ant." read more

I stopped in Buy the Cup last week without any idea what I was expecting. It's a small unassuming shop located next to the Post Office, with serve yourself coffee in thermoses. And there are a lot of options! There is an area to fix your coffee the way you like with the expected creamers, non-dairy and dairy options! There's also hot water if you desire tea and an espresso/latte menu if you want something a little extra. I've tried the coffee (dark roast and a mocha coconut) and this coffee is phenomenal! Pricing is reasonable too, setting me back $1.80 or so for a 20oz. I also tried the chai latte and that was decent (nothing to write home about). I would consider adding espresso next time to liven it up. I noticed that they have a nice selection of breakfast sandwiches in a case (ready to grab and go) and an assortment of bagels, rolls, pastries. I've only come in around 6:30am, but I did notice they have sandwich options for lunch which is worth checking out. Service is friendly and helpful, which is always a plus when you're trying to wake up in the morning! (hence why we're all there, to get our caffeine!!) Definitely worth stopping in as an excellent alternative to Wawa! read more

I was really looking forward to trying this place given the enthusiasm of the other reviews. I went in in December 2021. It is a tiny place. There was an elderly man in front of me using the napkins at the counter to wipe his nose. No mask. And the barista was not wearing a mask either. This is while omicron is more than 10K cases a day and masks are strongly recommended in NJ. If they are this careless with a pandemic, how safe can the food be in normal times? I discovered this coffee shop when I was driving around looking for coffee when I stumbled upon the huge sign on the side of the building that simply says: COFFEE lol I've been in love ever since. The coffee is wonderful and my drink is consistently delicious every single time! He's friendly and welcoming, the food is also great too. You have the option to buy beans. Great local business. The prices cannot be beat, and the owner roasts his own beans weekly. Serve-yourself style iced and hot coffee with specialty lattes and espressos are available. Great as a quick stop, especially with a group! (Everyone pouring their own makes for a very quick stop!) I particularly enjoy the iced coffees. For all the drip coffees, a huge variety of creamers are available. This is located right next to the Rocky Hill Post Office, so it's perfect to try out next time you are doing errands. read more

I really would like to give this place 5 stars. Overall, I am a big fan of Buy the Cup. There is a wide variety of fresh coffees as well as 'additives' to put in your coffee including soy creamers. The staff/owner are always very nice. I have yet to try the food here but after reading some of the other reviews, the next time I am here I will definitely order some food. My one complaint, in regards to the coffee, is that sometimes I have found it to be weak/watered down. I also wish they were open on Sundays! I will update my review once I try the food here. read more

I was just passing through and looking for a place to grab a breakfast sandwich and a cup of coffee. This place has good recommendations on Yelp. So I tried it . Not so good! The breakfast sandwich with pre-made and sitting in a heater. I'm used to places that make a bacon egg and cheese fresh for you. But I was hungry so I grabbed one anyway. As I suspected the egg was a disgusting congealed mess, covered with a wet cheese like substance. Of course it couldn't have been real cheese or wouldn't still be melted after all that time. I did manage to eat the bacon off of it but that wasn't even very good. On a bright note the coffee was fine. So if all you want is coffee I think this place will do the job for you. If you're looking for a breakfast sandwich you might want to look elsewhere. read more

They get my breakfast order wrong everytime if it's not the owner it's the Asian guy. I feel as if they really don't want my type of business me being a minority and this place being located in Princeton in a very high class suburb area. I have enjoyed Buy the Cup (RHbtC) coffee for many years. I noticed a marked improvement in the coffee the last few to find out the owner Vitaliy roasts his own beans and sells them wholesale and to the public through RocKaffe. Properly roasted fresh beans, with all things being equal, makes the difference. Now it is a matter of preference but the typical Starbucks, some call "charbucks", doesn't work for me as the dark roast has an acrid, bitter aftertaste to me. Though he roasts many varieties and styles my favorite is Tanzanian Peaberry. Vitaliy does a perfect light roast on these unique beans that allow the faint blueberry notes (not as Blueberry as Ethiopian), balanced acidity and sweet finish to come through. I signed up for the autoship program on RocKaffe website - its delivered on time and the quality is consistent batch to batch and the best is its fresh roasted within the week - two at the most. I should note I buy whole beans, use burr grinder and to brew I use the "Hario" pour over method...drink black...and as it starts to cool the profile emerges. Highly recommended! Enjoy. read more
