Been here over 15 times. My favorite coffee shop in all of New Jersey. They make the most balanced drinks imaginable!! I always get an iced latte with one shot of vanilla. However, lately I've been ordering the hot version and it is just as good. PS, I cannot recommend the beans enough If you're into brewing your own espresso at home. The espresso itself was decent enough but I made the mistake of wanting a mocha. Let me explain, a mocha is basically a hot chocolate with espresso. A great mocha has a high quality chocolate or cocoa powder and is not too sweet with whipped cream in top. My highest bar mocha was from a coffeehouse (now gone) in Santa Cruz, CA that was made with Belgian dark chocolate, homemade thick spatula dolloped whipped cream, shaved dark chocolate and of course freshly roasted espresso and silky spun whole milk. A crappy mocha is made with Hershey chocolate or Nestle or Swiss Miss. I thought this coffeehouse in Princeton had the swagger and elitism to serve a decent mocha. But I was wrong. A for milk, A for espresso. F for chocolate and whatever they used for sweetener (too sweet). The second best Mocha I've ever had was in the Midwest at Caribou Coffee and it was dark chocolate also with chocolate shavings and a chocolate covered espresso bean served on the lid of the cup. The ambiance was typical hipster vibe and the service was typical gen Alpha. As a California coffee snob I wouldn't return, but if I did I would stick with a cappuccino. read more

Finding new coffee shops and cafes (or at least, new to me) is one of the best little joys of life. As a coffee and tea lover, I am always in the mood for a perfect cup of something. Sakrid is not my usual Princeton cafe but they are officially will be one of the go-tos. Bright and airy and buzzing with folks, it seems to be a great spot for getting a little work done or chit chatting with friends. The barista was lovely and helpful and recommended a good tea. They also helped me log onto the wifi and after finding a spot a the counter along the window, I had such a good tea & work sesh. *It does get pretty crowded, even on weekdays, so while you might get lucky with a table or spot at a counter, you might have to get your drink to go. The staff here were courteous and served my espresso quickly the few times that I tried Sakrid. I always make a point to try different coffee spots during my travels and Sakrid was recommended during a quick search online. While I don't regret any of my visits, I admit that all of my espressos were somewhat thin in their profile. Despite having had coffee from freshly roasted beans in Colombia, I can't claim to be a an expert when it comes to coffee, but I simply couldn't pass up a visit to this nearly perfectly rated coffee shop on Nassau Street in Princeton. I get what the owners are trying to do with the minimalist look, but it's not my cup of tea for atmosphere as I prefer a homey place with warm and welcoming vibes when I visit a coffee shop...Sacrid Coffee Roasters was not it, but I can see how it can appeal to some in the area. We were going to keep it simple by getting 2 cappuccinos and sampling a pastry. When I inquired about about the tray of pastries they had on the counter, the cashier said they start at $5.50, which is kind of steep, but the real deal breaker was that they mentioned the pastries were for take out only. We wanted to have our drinks there and take in the vibes. The 2 cappuccinos were $4.25 each plus tax, so ran just north of $9 (plus any optional tip you wish to provide). The cappuccino was of decent quality, but quite honestly nothing of discernible improvement in quality over other good coffee shops, so probably not a place I'd go out of my way to visit again. While seated at the end of the coffee bar, we saw some people asking for coffee samples, so figured I'd ask for them as I didn't know that was an option. A friendly employee was kind enough to grab a sample of both their Ethiopian and Colombian blends they had on offer, and also provide a description of them (very classy as it shows their knowledge and pride in explaining their product on offer). I found the Ethiopian blend a bit too bitter and strong, with the Colombian blend more agreeable to my palate. While not as warm and welcoming as other Italian coffee/espresso bars, I'm sure people with more distinguishing coffee tastes would like Sakrid Coffee Roasters, so I recommend giving the place a try for an experience which may be a bit different than other coffee shops in the area. read more

An excellent coffee shop in Princeton. Have been wanting to try this spot for a while now and finally got the chance to stop by. The decor inside initially drew me in when I first passed by. There are plenty of large windows inside letting in a ton of natural light. This makes it a great spot to meet a friend for coffee or study from. I order an iced matcha and got two pumps of vanilla syrup and it was so good!! The vanilla flavor came in so well and didn't overpower the matcha flavor. They have a variety of different syrup options to choose from like rose and strawberry. Will definitely be making this a regular spot for a good cup of matcha! read more

Sakrid is a cute spot nestled on the main street of Princeton! They have some nice spots for studying with outlets and chairs. When I arrived, it was a bit messy with some crumbs on the tables but nothing crazy. The drinks were delicious and aesthetically pleasing. My friend tried their strawberry latte with oat milk and I got a iced vanilla latte. The barista was very patient and offered to combine whole and skim milk to get the consistency I wanted. Our drinks came out really fast and tasted great. The lattes were not overly sweet but perfectly balanced. I'd love to go back and try more of their house syrups. read more

You've heard of a draft beer, right? Have you ever heard of a draft latte? No? Neither have I so when I saw that, my curiosity was piqued. I asked the barista, "what is a draft latte," and she explained it's a cold brew that has milk and maple syrup all mixed in already. Ooh, sounds decadent. Let's give it a try. When the barista pulled the draft latte, it poured out cold and frothy. It was a creamy and silky texture. It pours out cold and frothy. After tasting it, I can sum it up the draft latte is a nitro cold brew sweetened with maple syrup and infused with dairy. Very good! They also serve baked goods but we did not try any so I cannot comment about them. I saw many patrons with laptops and friends gathered together to catch up. The service is wonderful and friendly. I think they were having an off day when I visited. The service was very friendly but exceedingly slow. Took about 15 minutes to get the espresso I ordered and their batch brewer was down. They have invested some serious money in their equipment (their batch brewer retails for over 10,000 dollars and their San Remo espresso machine is about 25000 dollars, I believe). With that kind of investment, I expected better. My espresso was muddy, bland and a little bitter. The cortado that replaced the drip coffee was okay, but not great. It is difficult to everything well, so I am always a little skeptical when small coffee shops with only a few locations roast their own beans. This place has clearly put a lot of time and money into thinking about brewing the best possible coffee, but I think their beans fail them. read more

Legit coffee joint in Princeton. We had stopped into town for a few days and with the ratings this place got on Yelp, it continues to hold the throne. Not a whole ton to say about the place--other than it's a chic looking coffee place that not only has a chill vibe but also great coffee. I kept it simple and had a cold brew and it was great brew. The atmosphere is nice! Overall, I'd like to see more flavor options and larger portions as the business grows. This is an interesting location. I will echo previous reviews in saying that the flow of it is a bit confusing: the cashier is towards the back of the cafe and then you move back towards the door to pick up your food, but then you're blocking people who are walking towards the cashier and overall it's a bit crowded. The staff is very friendly and great at answering questions. I got a peppermint latte and glazed croissant -- given the smaller size of both I was surprised it was $7. The food was okay (latte was VERY foamy, probably about 40% foam which is a lot for a small cup - the croissant was great), but I couldn't get past how much more it costs than something of that size at Small World or Starbucks! The windows let in a lot of light and I can see why so many people like to get work done here. read more

Easily my favorite coffee place in the Princeton area! Before Sakrid entered the game, Small World was the only real contender for quality coffee nearby. Now Sakrid takes the top spot. ATMOSPHERE: I've only visited in COVID times, so I can't speak to the experience of sitting inside. Every time I've stopped by, though, I've admired the carefully designed interior. It's spacious, modern, and full of natural light. I can imagine it was a great spot to sit and read pre-COVID. In the current setting, they've been great about putting safety measures in place such as limiting indoor occupancy. You also have the option to order online in order to limit your time and contact inside. The online ordering process is easy and seamless. As of December 2020, their hours are 7:30-4:30 Mon-Sat and 8-4 Sun. COFFEE: I was surprised to learn that Sakrid was roasting their own beans long before they opened up this cafe! You can buy bags to take home while you're picking up your drink. I believe that if you buy a bag, you can also get a free cuppa. I've tried both hot and cold drinks, and they seem to excel at everything. I have a slight preference for their hot drinks because of that perfect, velvety microfoam. Most drinks are in the $4-5 range, with a 25 cent charge for alternative milks, single origin espresso, or a larger size. OVERALL: As if having great coffee wasn't enough, the service has always been friendly and helpful on my visits. Sakrid has the golden trifecta of great service, quality coffee, and reasonable prices. Definitely a great addition to downtown Princetown. read more

Now we all know not all oat milks are same so with that in mind I took a risk and I am happy that they use good oat milk. Coffee tasted smooth and fresh. Now I will give them 5 stars for the coffee and the friendly staff but they don't have soy or coconut milk. I have more milk options at home for my latte than they do lol. But it is not a deal breaker. They have few outdoor sitting but not comfortable however they seem to be really careful with covid19 so pickup your coffee and drink it safely. Expresso machine, grinders, teas, baked goods are seen and are visually stimulating. Being our first visit, we found the staff friendly and patient. Ordered was a Nitro Cold Brew and a Draft Latte. The Nitro Cold Brew was bold, smooth and creamy. I did find the nitro fizzled out quickly and was left with cold brew half-way. The Draft Latte was bold, sweet and extra creamy due to the added dairy. We both enjoyed our beverages and will not hesitate to revisit in the future. Came here today, finally, and was quite happy with my experience. I ordered a cold brew with milk and a cortado with almond milk and a bag of beans. Upon inquiring if they did any half caf bags, the said they could fill a bag of beans with half caffeine, half decaf for me right there. And they even gave me half caf for my cortado! Sakrid is operating out of a different location during renovations, but it was still easy to get to and had plenty of convenient parking. The short detour was well worth it! Our group went on a very warm October day so we got cold brew, iced lattes with regular milk and iced lattes with oat milk. Some took it with nothing added and a few got vanilla or maple syrup. Everything was top quality and the espresso drinks really impressed the coffee geeks (myself included). They use a medium roast for their espresso. I'm glad that Sakrid Coffee Roasters exists in a town that has been dominated by Rojo's and Small World Coffee for a long long time. The staff was so friendly both times I visited, even though I came in very early in the morning. Sakrid (Sacred) Coffee Roasters opened its first retail cafe at the corner of Bank and Nassau Streets in Princeton almost one year ago. They had been roasting beans for a long time in North Jersey, and decided to try their hand at brewing what they were roasting, confident that the quality of their handiwork would translate into easy popularity with the public at large. Controlling the chain of selection, production and distribution of their goods should give them a leg up. After all, it worked like a dream for the Green Mermaid. Boy were they right! They created a small but intimate utilitarian space just off the Princeton University campus, light and bright with large eastern exposure windows, high ceilings, large doily light fixtures and lots of natural wood. The baristas are quietly competent, efficient and attractive, with special social skills. It is an invitation to slow down, sip your coffee and take a load off. If anything, the store is too small for the size of its success. Yeah. I'm a believer. And, their java is excellent. My latte was made of an Expresso blend (Guatemalan, Ethiopian and Burundi beans)served in a white ceramic mug. From first taste to last it was a smooth, yet strong hot caffeinated excursion through the Horn of Africa, Central America and East African Great Rift Valley. It was tropical, yet balanced; bold, yet delicate. If there is an issue to be addressed it is the lack of bakery munchies to accompany their awesome joe. There were a few scones and small samples of homemade granola bars, but not nearly enough choice and volume to keep up with their enthusiastic consumers. Perhaps, the shop is just too small to accommodate more options, but if this shortcoming was addressed, they would have a bigger problem - no one would ever leave. NOTE: A friend just pointed out that there doesn't appear to be any low chairs/tables for the disabled other than outside. She is right. This oversight should be corrected as soon as possible, so everyone is welcomed equally in word and deed. read more

The largely white interior really makes it a kind of sacred place. Bright, open and pristine. Really good coffee. Prices are a bit high, but you get what you pay for. One less star because the space discourages getting comfy/staying too long. There are only 2 chairs with backs at regular height. The rest are backless bar stools at high tops and high counters. Certainly not a place for anyone with back/balance/mobility issues or elderly. I do see college types at their laptops, and kudos to their youth-- but the rest of us have to just drink and go. read more
