Lovely inside, but the current staff is horrible at service. Had to remind them about my carrot cake after walking around and waiting with no one else there. And the staff was having heated arguments without bothering to hide it which made for some light entertainment lol. Big menu available and plenty to look at inside. Quiet music. Book stand. Newspapers and local crafts for sale. Food is ok. I'd come back again for a relaxing time in this cute town, or another chuckle at the staff's behavior. read more

I am so disappointed in the which once was a darling and delicious spot. The past two times the food was hugely disappointing. The bake goods look like Cosco and the service are terribly slow even when they aren't busy. Its lost it once sweet home made ambiance. This gem is engrained into Hopewell's DNA. Every time I'm in town, this place is a must-visit. Their Cafe au Lait has got to be my favorite. It's in a small and charming house, and they have limited seating, but they also have some outdoor seating options. They serve Small World Coffee (the same as the one in Princeton), making it a little more rooted in the community. The servers are super friendly, knowledgable, and efficient. Their food options are delicious too, making this place a local all-star, in my opinion. It can get a little busy at times, especially on weekends, so I'd just be prepared to take your coffee to-go. read more

I've been here several times. Food is very good. For service, they hand you a cup and everything is self-serve (unless you're getting food). But for a basic coffee, I'm curious about the high prices. Maybe locals find this within their budget but for others, there's other independent coffee shops nearby with some more affordable prices. This establishment apparently serves small world coffee but even the downtown Princeton establishments online are at least comparable to other independent shops. Taste wise it's ok, but nothing earth shatteringly different. read more

Yummy food and atmosphere that's just as great. I went conservative with a pork roll egg and cheese on an everything egg bagel. It was very good and I'd get it again for sure but would probably try something more Boro Bean specific because of the quality of their food. We hung out here for over 2 hours eatting food, hanging out and enjoying our coffee with no feeling of being rushed out. I found this place by accident and glad I did. They have a great menu selection for breakfast and lunch. They even had bake goods. I tried the provolone turkey panini and it was delicious, it was a good portion. I tried their pistachio latte and it was good, they have oat and almond milk alternatives. They have WiFi which is nice if you work on the road like myself. The ambiance is very relax and cozy. They have seating inside and outside which is nice. Street parking is available. read more

I am keeping my review a 5 because I love this spot. But I have ONE complaint.... They open at 8 am... I found this out the hard way when I started a new job last month and hoped this would be my coffee stop for the mornings. I arrived at 7:45 am to find they were closed!! I had to settle for office keurig coffee that day which is NOT the same. Now I just bring coffee from home every morning, but I think this place could benefit from opening a liiittle earlier. (Especially since there would be no one competing in town!) read more

Boro Bean was very busy on Sunday at lunchtime, but the moist homemade muffins were well worth the wait! It's very hard to read boro their chalkboard menus, but I was able to pick out a zucchini Asiago panini with spinach and artichoke spread. It was perfectly grilled to a crisp and served with a bean salad or potato chips. I also got a honey almond muffin which was crunchy on the top but soft and moist in the middle. I have to say that someone else in my group got a Heath bar muffin and he wasn't a fan, found it a bit dry. In terms of seating, there are a number of tables outside as well as a couple of heaters. It's a quality spot for a pastry or bite with a nice hot drink! read more

Outstanding lunch today! Had the Avocado Salad, it was loaded with Tomatoes, HB Eggs, Tunafish, some veggies, plenty of Lettuce, could barely finish it! They have a home-made salad dressing too that Rocked! She had Chicken Quesadilla. We plan to return! read more

Best cappuccino in the area, worth driving to it. And it's because they have a great machine and the people working there know how to use it. The muffins are ok, not my personal favorite and you can find better breakfast sandwiches. But their cappuccino is one of the best I've ever had in any city. I love this quaint little coffee spot! My husband took me here on a lovely Sunday afternoon on our way to the Hopewell Vineyards. It's in a residential neighborhood in a house turned cafe. There's outdoor seating and plenty of indoor seating. Upon arriving, you are greeted by the smell of coffee! I don't drink coffee, but I appreciate the smell of it. They have so many drink options, coffee, steamers, hot chocolate, teas... Not to mention muffins, breakfast sandwiches, wraps, salads, waffles, etc. I had a tough time deciding, but I chose an egg, spinach, tomato, and cheese panini with a hot cup of tea and my husband had waffles and coffee. Our food came up promptly. My panini was crispy, hot, and a perfect Sunday breakfast. This coffee shop has tons of character. There's a fireplace, art, and old books adorning the walls. This mellow coffee house on Main Street, Hopewell, NJ, sits in a converted house, with front and back porches, large front seating area and smaller back room. It is comfortable in a lightly run down way; feeling like grandma's country house. They use local coffee from Small World, and do all their own baking, in addition to a traditional breakfast and lunch menu. Service is friendly and efficient, although they were breaking in a new employee this afternoon. My green tea latte was quite good. Their banana nut muffin was extraterrestrially good. It was moist rich dense cake, rife with walnut pieces and real banana flavor. It was the best muffin I've tasted in a long time. It took me by surprise. On this rainy cool August afternoon the porches were off limits, but on the right morning, sitting outside to enjoy a cuppa joe and their bakegoods could be an outstanding (outsitting) experience. Always been the cool cute & cozy local cafe / breakfast/brunch/lunch place to be. new ownership has definitely expanded the menu options which has been wonderful esp vegetarian which is so nice ! But this used to be the best coffee place in town. The barista's there need a bit of time to make that happen again. I want to start by stating the following fact: I was not asking for something not on the menu. Boro Bean receives 2 stats from me due to their customer service and lack of accommodation. This has happened twice now, and quite frankly I am very annoyed - the first time, I simply asked for an extra serving of chicken salad on the side. They said no. Today, my second time I asked for just chicken salad. Again, no. So I end up having to pay $8.75 for a salad with chicken salad on top of it. WHY? I don't want the bowl of mixed lettuce or the tomato slices - I just wanted the chicken salad. Why was Boro Bean unable to accommodate my request? It would have been easier and cheaper for them to hand me a bowl of chicken salad as I wanted, rather than make their entire bowl of lettuce and half a tomato. The only reason I didn't give one star for this lack of accommodation and good customer service, is because the food is good. Seating is cramped, the decor is lacking, but the food is good. read more

Boro bean is a cafe with quality breakfasts and baked goods, I am happy with the service and affordable prices. The one problem with the cafe is that it's simply too small to safely take in customers right now, and I wish it could be a bigger space. They each got different paninis, which were delicious. I got a daily special- chorizo hash. It was tasty but ended up being too heavy, though I was warned by the cashier. I wish I could live here. The Borough of Hopewell has a population of less than 2,000 people. I am fairly certain that each and every one of them made the decision to live here because of the Boro Bean. The breakfast sandwiches are excellent... the brewed coffee is... um... crunchy, but the espresso drinks are good enough that you don't have to get the brewed coffee. The baked goods consistently new, fresh, and delicious. The people are super nice, the dining area is super cozy, the porch is super pretty (in the spring/summer/fall), the borough is super nice. This place is super, just super... stop on by, grab a paper, and enjoy the day. See you there! read more
